Des Moines, IA (AP)- What was once considered a rare gem in the independent professional wrestling scene has now been discovered and is no longer the best kept secret in Des Moines, but could be the best known secret to the nation.
Operating virtually unknown outside of the metro area of downtown Des Moines, MidState Wrestling has been drawing in steady numbers and wowing the crowds with their insane action. Stationed at All Play Arena, MSW is a start up, but many are calling it a comet that is on the rise. It never used to be that way. When the former 3XW closed it's doors due to unknown circumstances, an offshoot group from that formed and thus became MSW.
Boasting some of the best in the Midwest in names, MSW has seasoned vets such as “Iron Man” Mark Sterling, the dominator Brian Ash, the legendary Gage Octane and 2 time 3XW champion, “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt. These guys and many more are all set to go as the “gold rush” begins this Friday when the 16-man tournament starts to crown the first-ever MSW Champion. This technically is MSW's first-ever show, but only by name. Many are calling it the “ghost of 3XW.”
“This quite possibly is the greatest collection of talent in the Midwest and surrounding regions,” stated Midnight Guthrie, MSW's Director of Information. “Not only this, but we've been in contact with some other names as well to come in and vye for glory. Guys like Arik Cannon, Chris Hero and Tyler Black. It was unfortunate what happened at 3XW, but it will soon become an afterthought when people come and check out MSW. Just buy your ticket, sit back and watch things explode.”
MSW will hold a tournament for the tag team titles as well. With this much talent surrounding the place, is it too soon to wonder how long before a TV deal is in place?
“A TV deal would be an incredible thing. We'll keep going our own pace, pushing the limits and sending the fans home happy. It's all we can do. If someone takes notice and wants to step in and offer us a TV deal, then we'll re-evaluate things and go from there. Baby steps here. The main thing is the wrestlers and the fans. We're gonna constantly strive for greatness in our product and give back to the paying public that come to be entertained.” said Guthrie
Be there on February 24th at the All Play Arena as MSW continues it's meteoric rise as it presents “Anniversary Zero.” Tickets are $15 at the door or if you buy them online before the show, they're $12. Check out MSWrestling.com for all the info and to purchase your tickets. Bell time is 7PM. Pre-Sale ticket holders are allowed in 15 minutes prior to the event. [/b]

A super start to your Mid State Wrestling my Friend and there are a few guys I was hoping that would've won. Too bad Casanova, Mike Sydal & Ricky Kwong lost. I liked that Drake Younger made the impact he did by taking out Masterson and then beating SBC. Sterling & McDowell winning their respective matches I liked too. The Tournament Round should be Fun to see who'll win and I like your Fed Logo and Championship Belt, Very Solid...

That had to be a letdown between Jigsaw & Rebelucha ending so fast, but maybe a rematch is in order. I was hoping for Younger over JW, but it looked like Wyatt held his ground and takes a beating to only comeback to win. The Mark Sterling & Jeremy Wyatt Championship Final should be Dynamic and I look for Wyatt to win the Gold...

That's right, the map of the metro is starting to take shape and it goes thru MSW! Be there live as MSW presents "Anniversary Zero" sponsored by Cup O'Kryptonite Comics. GRUDGE MATCH GAGE OCTANE vs. ZACH THOMPSON-Feeling like he was robbed of his chances to advance in the title tournament, Octane has taken things up with Thompson so eliminated him. After Thompson's 2nd round loss, Octane attacked him. Now it's time to settle the score in the ring. AMERICAN GROUND & AIR vs. AMERICAN BULLDOGS-This is a sign of things to come from MSW's tag team division as these 2 teams look for a win to gain a foothold on the competiton. Either way, America wins! RYAN SLADE vs. RICKY KWONG-Kwong nearly advanced out of the first round of the tournament, but came up short. Slade made it to the semi's, only to lose out to Mark Sterling. Both men looking to climb the ladder with a win here. ARIK CANNON vs. SBC-Adding some star power to Anniversary Zero, MSW brings in the Anarchist to clash with Sir Bradley Charles. This one should be a treat for the fans with the styles of these 2 men. THE REMATCH REBELUCHA vs. JIGSAW-Rebelucha has complained that he wasn't ready...he didn't stretch...all sorts of things. The fans feel that they missed out on a potential showstopper and wanted more! MSW listens to their fans and the rematch is here! TYLER BLACK vs. JIMMY ROCKWELL-Along the lines of star power comes former ROH Champion Tyler Black, an Iowan in his own right. Jimmy Rockwell will need to step up his game if he wants to survive the PHOENIX SPLASH! Can Black dodge the ROCK ON BOMB and cruise to victory? This should be epic. MID STATES WRESTLING TITLE FINALS "THE REBEL JEREMY WYATT vs."IRON MAN" MARK STERLING-The hottest feud in the Midwest spills over into MSW and happens to be for the heavyweight title! Sterling claims that it's his belt and no one can take it from him...Wyatt is known around the region as the "Belt Collector," taking titles wherever he goes. Something's gotta give...who will walk out the champion here? Join us as MSW presents "Anniversary Zero" at the All Play Arena in Downtown Des Moines! Tickets are going fast, don't be left out and miss the first event of MSW's season 1.

(the show opens to ring announcer Daryl Moon welcoming everyone to MSW's Anniversary Zero, stating that tonight we crown the very first MSW champion....) - In the opening contest, Rebelucha and Jigsaw have a back and forth encounter. After a leg sweep and pair of Matildas, Rebulucha gets the duke("The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt comes out to the ring. He states that they don't call him the "Belt Collector" for nothing. He goes on to say that Sterling and him have duked it out many times and this time, it's for the title...Sterling is out and yells some threats and at the fans before saying "That's my belt...it's all mine!") -Ricky Kwong showed some finesse moves against Ryan Slade, including a Samoan Drop...it wasn't enough as Slade counters with a Sexy Neckbreaker to get the win, despite Chad Mylan's interference backfiring. -In tag team competition, American Ground and Air proved they were the best tag team on the night a SMOKE ON THE WATER put away Maddog, leaving Jon West sitting prey to SPECIAL DELIVERY!-The house truly came alive when Tyler Black faced off against Jimmy Rockwell in an exciting bout...Black looked to have had it won with God's Last Gift, but Jimmy kicks out...Jimmy nearly won with a ROCK ON BOMB, but Tony Sly distracted him and allowed Black to gain the advantage and hit PHOENIX SPLASH to win. (after the match Sly sneaks in and attacks Jimmy, punctuating things with a Bawk Bawk Elbow Drop and then a GRIND KING) Gage Octane scored a measure of revenge, beating Zach Thompson with a 12 GAGE. This was an excellent conflict of styles, but after a Spine Tingler, Octane blasted Thompson with 12 GAGE to win it. -Arik Cannon couldn't get things going against SBC and afte Long Kiss Goodnight, SBC capitalized with NORTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX to gain the victory. (what ensued afterwards was considered quite heinous. Trying to shake off the effects of his loss, Cannon got up, but only to fall down again after Jimmy Jacobs charged at him with his railroad spike, stabbing him in the head. Jacobs goes off on Cannon, leaving him in a pool of blood to the shock of the fans. Security rushed the ring and had to escort Jacobs out of the building) -In the main event to crown the first-ever MSW heavyweight champion, "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt and "Iron Man" Mark Sterling tore the house down! In a show of counter and chain wrestling, neither man could retain their advantage long...Sterling opens things up after a big time spear, then takes it to the outside and rams Wyatt's head into a table at ringside...Wyatt able to counter and rattle off a trio of fisherman busters and hit TUMBLE WEED for a near fall! Wyatt wasted no time and locks on the KC CROSSFACE in the middle of the ring, leaving Sterling no choice but to tap out! Ring announcer Daryl Moon exclaimed: YOUR WINNER AND NEW MSW CHAMPION...."THE REBEL" JEREMY WYATT! Join us for all the fall-out on the next MSW show in downtown Des Moines at the All Play Arena.
