A highly controversial fight last night, as The Desert Storm Timothy Bradley (29-0) edged out Manny Pacquiao by split decision. Officially it was 7-5 on all score cards, two out of three going against the Pacman. The live crowd was very hostile to the decision, and further sparking controversy, Compubox stats show Pacquio landing more power shots (190-of-493 vs 108-of-390) and winning on both the number of total punches landed, as well as efficiency (253-of-751 vs 159-of-839). The HBO announcer Harold Lederman scored it 119-109 Pacquio before the decision was announced. Rematch set for November 10th.

Any wonder why UFC is kicking boxing's ass and has been for years? Keep believing that myth all you want. I'm one of the biggest MMA fans on here and that opinion is completely ridiculous. The top ten boxing draws all make more money than anyone in MMA. If you're argument held any water at all, GSP and Anderson Silva would be making 15-20 million a fight. They aren't. Don't get me wrong. Boxing is dying and UFC is putting up good numbers but it's a long time before anyone in UFC is getting Mayweather or Pacman money. Not even Klitschko money. Hell, an up and coming big boxing name like Canelo will be making more money his next fight than a comparable UFC guy like Rory McDonald or Erick Silva will in the next five years.

How are the 25th best MMA fighters doing against the 25th boxing draw? I'm guessing it's not even close. How is the health insurance situation for mid-level boxers? Or any boxers? At the top of the boxing earnings list you have Floyd, Manny, and the Klitschkos. There is nobody else making as much as the top 15-20 UFC guys. Depth matters, too.

Havoc is correct but one thing to keep in mind is that the entire fight card here only had 8 fights total. UFC 146 had 12 fights. That certainly spreads the money a little thinner. Paying 24 fighters vs. paying 16.
I also think that there are alot more "name" UFC fighters than there are in boxing.
I don't even understand how boxing is still pulling the numbers it is. I know only one person who still pays any attention to boxing and tons of people who watch UFC. But UFC events pull 1/3-1/2 (if that sometimes) of the PPV buys than big boxing events.

That's only a partially humorous answer, too. I don't know a single person, or even know anyone who knows anyone, who follows boxing. I'm not an MMA guy, but I know a lot of MMA fans. Boxing is little more than a rigged, mob money laundering operation.

How are the 25th best MMA fighters doing against the 25th boxing draw? I'm guessing it's not even close. I'm glad you asked. 26th ranked pound for pound fighter Andre Berto has a net worth of 12 million. Better than almost all UFC fighters. 21st ranked Victor Ortiz has a net worth of 7 million. Amir Khan has made over 10 million already. Heck, heavyweight chump David Haye has a net worth of 20 million. 21 year old Canelo Alvarez made 1.2 million for his fight against Mosely. About 10 times what Rory MacDonald or Erick Silva made for their last fight and more than they'll make for any fight in the next three years. You want to get all defensive because I poo poo your opinion, but those are the facts. UFC is getting bigger here and some other countries but boxing is still bigger throughout the world. UFC is making big progress but they've started to stagnate the last couple years. Some of these huge UFC perceptions remind me of the ludicrous prediction years back by Dana White that MMA would be bigger than the NFL.

I'm not being "defensive," I'm asking legitimate questions. I've never ordered a UFC PPV or even watched one that wasn't on FOX (and the FOX coverage was so awful that I doubt I'll watch another one). Don't mix me up with some Dana fanboy.
Regardless, there is a difference between the net worth of the top fighters and the health of the sport as a whole.
