Note: Because I am working full time once again after my annual Summer break and because I'm also going to school at night to get the credits I need to save my job, in the coming weeks between now and December 18th, some of the 3 major MLW brands may not have their weekly show take place every single week.
With one week to go before Unforgiven is presented by MLW's RAW brand, it's now time for this week's edition of Thursday Night RAW!
Major League Wrestling (MLW)
RAW
Thursday September 10, 2009
The Major League Wrestling Arena
Las Vegas, NV
(First Half of show)
Match #1: Intercontinental Champion The Sheik (managed by Abdullah Farouk) defeated S.D. Jones in a non-title match.
- One week before defending the Intercontinental Championship at Unforgiven against Mil Mascaras (who last week on RAW won the right to challenge The Sheik for his last time during The Sheik's current title reign), The Sheik easily won this match via his CAMEL CLUTCH.
- The announcers wonder aloud, will Jones do better next week in a rare PPV appearance for him at Unforgiven where he will participate in the cruiserweight scramble match for the Cruiserweight Championship?
Backlund's Office: RAW General Manager Bob Backlund is with the tag teams of Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke, the Love Brothers, and the Body Donnas (Chris Candido and Tom Prichard). Backlund says they and the newly reunited Killer Bees, who are currently on their way to the ring for the next match, will be joining the previously announced tag teams of Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake and Don Muraco and Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. as the 6 tag teams the MLW Tag Team Champions the Fabulous Kangaroos will be defending their championship against in an elimination tag match next week at Unforgiven!
Match #2: Mil Mascaras defeated Jim Brunzell (accompanied by B. Brian Blair)
- This match featured the return of Blair who just completed his 28 Days of rehab after being found drunk and lying face down in an airport bar in New Orleans earlier this summer.
- Before this match began, Brunzell and Mascaras shook hands.
- Despite the loud backing of the fans who kept chanting "Bee Up" throughout the match and who were thrilled to see the return of Blair, Mascaras won via his CROSSBODY ATTACK. In his final opportunity against current Intercontinental Champion The Sheik next week at Unforgiven, will Mascaras finally win his first ever MLW title?
- Afterward everyone in The Major League Wrestling Arena was shocked as Brunzell got attacked from behind by Blair with a steel chair!
Blair: "Jim, when I was drying up in rehab this Summer, you never came to visit me once. Now you want me to Bee Up. I'm not going to Bee Up and, instead of us being one of the 6 tag teams to challenge the MLW Tag Team Champions the Fabulous Kangaroos in that tag elimination match at Unforgiven, I'm challenging you to a one on one match at Unforgiven where we can finally determine who the better Bee really is!"
Match #3: Jushin Liger defeated Cruiserweight Champion Pepper Gomez and Gorgeous George in a non-title triple threat match.
- Liger won by pinning Gomez via his BRAINBUSTER.
- The announcers wonder aloud if Liger can repeat his impressive success next week to win his first-ever MLW title when he goes up against Gomez, George, Konnan, The Mountie, and S. D. Jones in the cruiserweight scramble match for Gomez's Cruiserweight Championship?
In the Ring: Ida Mae Martinez, standing with Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke, is with Rick Rude.
- Martinez: "Rick, just so we all know what is about to happen here, last week on RAW you told me that one kiss from you means any women would gladly spend the night with you on her own free will. And so then you said if you got a kiss in the center of the ring right here on RAW and if that point I still said no then you would let me out of the promise you conned me into making about spending the night with you. Is that still our deal?"
Rude: "Yes, and after I get my kiss you'll be taking me by the hand and running away because you won't be able to get me out of this arena with you fast enough."
Martinez (to Rude): "OK, close your eyes and you will get your kiss."
- After a few seconds, Rude starts to get his kiss and seems to be enjoying it until he opens his eyes and realizes to his horror that, instead of Ida Mae Martinez, he is actually kissing Exotic Adrian Street!
- Mad about being tricked, Rude gives Exotic Adrian Street a RUDE AWAKENING and says he'll teach him a lesson next week at Unforgiven. Rude then looks to the ramp, where Martinez is now with Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke and on the microphone she says "Rick, you got a kiss in the center of the ring here on RAW, I just never said it would be with me. I conned you like you conned me and I'm still saying no to you."
- An angry Rude then kicks the ring ropes in response.
- Backstage: Backlund tells Frank Gotch that, following the events from last week's RAW, Gotch will once again wrestle his enemy Harley Race on PPV next weekend at Unforgiven- but but this time it will be a last man standing match!
Match #4: MLW Tag Team Champions the Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by Captain Kangaroo) defeated Don Muraco and Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. (both managed by Ladies Champion Sherri Martel) and Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake in a non-title elimination tag match.
- First Elimination: Valentine and Beefcake when Roy Heffernan pinned Beefcake following the BOOMERANG.
- Second Elimination: Muraco and Orton Jr. when Al Costello pinned Orton Jr. following the BOOMERANG.
- The Kangaroos looked impressive tonight in winning this 3 way tag elimination match. But will the Kangaroos, who won the MLW Tag Team Championship from the New Age Outlaws at last year's Unforgiven, be able to do the same next week at Unforgiven when they go up against 6 different tag teams in a tag elimination match in an attempt to complete a full one year reign as the MLW Tag Team Champions?
Backstage: John Pesek is approached by Diamond Dallas Page.
- DDP tells Pesek that with the Killer Bees deciding to fight each other instead next weekend at Unforgiven there is now an open spot in the 6 man tag elimination match for the MLW Tag Team Championship at Unforgiven.
- DDP says if Pesek agrees to team with him then together they'll be like South Africa- a Land of Gold and Diamonds (DDP pointing to himself while he says the word "Diamonds.")
- Pesek agrees to team up with DDP at Unforgiven.
End of First Half. Second Half will be posted next and includes both World Champion Bruiser Brody and Jim Londos (Brody's challenger at Unforgiven in action), Jimmy Snuka vs his enemy the Masked Superstar, MLW Chairman Bruno Sammartino and Frank Gotch against their respective Unforgiven opponents Nick Bockwinkel and Harley Race, and more!
