LEGENDS WRESTLING Presents … The NWA! On USA Network
MONDAY, MAY 27, 2013
SCOTIABANK SADDLEDOME, CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA
Announcers: Jim Ross, Gordon Solie. Interviewer: Bill Apter. Ring Announcer: Gary Michael Cappetta.
***RESULTS***
LORD STEVEN REGAL (Vintage Mayhem Bootleg) beat DANNY HODGE (LOW) with the Regal Stretch finisher.
HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN (LOW) beat MISTER X (LOW) with the Flying Spear finisher. It was officially announced that Duggan, by virtue of last week’s non-title win, will challenge Nick Bockwinkel for the NWA World Heavyweight title at NWA Parade of Champions III in Chicago on June 16.
KEVIN VON ERICH (LOW Bootlegs) beat WILDFIRE TOMMY RICH (LOW) with the Flying Body Press finisher. This was Von Erich’s return to Legends Wrestling.
LEILANI KAI (LOW) & JUDY MARTIN (LOW) beat NWA Women’s World Champion MILDRED BURKE (LOW) & TINA MORETTI (LOW) when Martin beat Moretti with the Powerbomb finisher.
A live satellite feed was set up with Tracy Smothers, at his home in Springfield, Tennessee, and Abraham Lincoln, from a rustic log cabin in rural Illinois. The announcers referenced last week’s bloody Mason-Dixon Last Man Standing match, which Smothers won but ended up with both men having to be carried from the arena. Subsequently, neither man was cleared to wrestle tonight. Smothers had requested the time to address Lincoln. He said that, all along, he’d been fighting for respect, because the Stars and Bars of the Confederacy stand for “heritage, not hate.” Smothers said, “Look, man, I don’t hate anybody. Abe, you and I have had issues for a long time. I wanted that match last week because I didn’t think I had your respect. I still don’t know if I do, but I wanna tell you, you have my respect. I honestly thought it was gonna be easy to put you down, but it wasn’t. You darn near put me down for the count a few times. You’re a fighter, Abe, and I may not like you, but I dang sure respect you.” Jim Ross asked the bandaged Lincoln to respond, and he said, “Mr. Smothers, I don’t like you, either. But, to be perfectly honest, I respect you, too. I admire that you are willing to fight for what you believe in. I fully believe that we could be a formidable team if we were to join forces.” Smothers replied, “You know what, Abe, that’s a good idea. I was thinking the same thing. The NWA has a tournament coming up for the North American Tag Team titles. I just betcha that, if we got together, we could win those belts. Whaddya say, Abe?” Lincoln paused, then replied, “Can I trust you?” Smothers said, “Abe, where there’s title belts concerned, I’ll do whatever it takes for the good of the team. Let’s do it!” Lincoln paused again and then said, “Give me some time to think about it, Mr. Smothers. I have to carefully weigh the pros and cons before I commit.” Smothers said, “Go for it, Abe. You know where to find me.”
After the commercial break, Gordon Solie acknowledged that the tournament for the new NWA North American Tag Team titles will be happening soon, perhaps as soon as June 17, live on Legends Wrestling Presents.
NON-TITLE MATCH
NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion MIKEY WHIPWRECK (LOW) beat BUFF BAGWELL (LOW) with the Whipper-Snapper finisher. Bill Apter interviewed Whipwreck after the match about what challengers for his new title might be on the horizon, mentioning that Lincoln is entitled to a rematch. Suddenly, Jerry Lynn came to the ring and told Apter and Whipwreck that he had just signed a deal with Legends Wrestling. He also said that he heard the conversation between Lincoln and Smothers earlier, and that it sounded like Lincoln’s not even thinking about a rematch. Lynn said, “Danny Hodge got beat earlier tonight, and, from what I hear, he’s packing his bags and leaving. Mikey, you’re good … but not as good as me.” With that, Lynn slapped Whipwreck hard, knocking him down before leaving the ring.
NON-TITLE MATCH
PEDRO MORALES (LOW Bootlegs) beat NWA North American Heavyweight Champion MAGNUM T.A. (LOW) with the Boston Crab finisher.
NON-TITLE MATCH
NWA World Heavyweight Champion NICK BOCKWINKEL (LOW) (w/ Bobby Heenan) beat FRANKIE WILLIAMS (Vintage Mayhem Bootleg) with the Bockwinkel Sleeper finisher.
DEMOLITION (Ax & Smash) (LOW Bootlegs) (w/ Mr. Fuji) beat WILD SAMOANS (Afa & Sika) (Vintage Mayhem Bootlegs) (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) when Ax beat Afa with the Demolition Decapitation finisher.
LEGENDS WRESTLING MAIN EVENT -- NORTH AMERICAN TITLE NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH
SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM (LOW Bootleg) (w/ Captain Lou Albano) beat MIL MASCARAS (LOW) with the Superstar Bearhug finisher. After the match, Abdullah the Butcher suddenly showed up, followed closely by manager Gary Hart, and started demolishing the weakened Mascaras until a horde of referees and security were able to get Hart to direct Abdullah to the back. Mascaras, bleeding from a rip in his mask, was given the mic and said something in Spanish. Legends Wrestling board member Salvador Lutteroth came out and translated, saying Mascaras wanted a match with Abdullah next week.
