What a great night of action in Knoxville, three out of those last four matches were incredible. I liked the historical reference to the Lewis vs. Valentine match from 2010 in relation to what happened between Rude and Snuka. My favorite match might have been Bundy & Studd over Orton & Roop. Some nice upsets too with Arik Cannon over Finlay and to a lesser extent Jimmy Valiant over Claudio Castagnoli. Great to see the USWA back.

Thanks to Troy and Crue Fan for the comments!
Hope everyone is having a nice Super Bowl Sunday!
Highlights of USWA Championship Wrestling from 3-21: • Commissioner Bob Armstrong announced that “Ravishing” Rick Rude’s next challenger for the USWA World Heavyweight championship will be his rival Nick Bockwinkel. The two will collide in the main event on April 13 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington. Rude defended the title against the four-time former champ last month at the Mid-South Coliseum and came out the victor after rolling through on a Bockwinkel flying body press and hooking the tights. The commissioner said that “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka will not be forgotten after his wild bout with the champion that ended in a double disqualification in Knoxville last week and that the Fijian warrior will get a rematch for the title in the near future. • Lance Russell was joined in studio by the Vachons and Doctor X. Mad Dog did the majority of the speaking for the group, as Doctor X continues not to speak. Russell asked what happened in the six-man tag team match against the World Tag Team champions Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito and the Southern Heavyweight champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, where another masked man interfered. Mad Dog growled that their trio has realized that in the USWA there is strength in numbers. He said that if you look at the man’s mask, you will see two “X’s,” so therefore his name is Double X. Russell asked what the wrestling world is allowed to know about Double X and Butcher said that this man has wrestled in the USWA in the past and is a great technical wrestler, just like Doctor X. He said that he will compete and help out their unit as needed. Mad Dog said that Double X will make his in-ring debut on March 30 at the Oman Arena in Jackson, TN.
The USWA comes back to the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Coliseum in Evansville on March 23! • Former tag team partners turned rivals will collide again, as “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon battles the Swiss powerhouse Claudio Castagnoli. Each man holds a victory over the other in their USWA battles so far. Who will win the “rubber match”? • In a unique match-up, two-time former World Heavyweight champion “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson will take on Larry “The Axe” Hennig. This will feature the fast-paced, hard-striking style of Danielson against the brute strength of Hennig. Which wrestler will prevail? • In a rematch from New Year’s Knockout XI, “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. will face “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. Orton is looking ahead to challenging “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert for the USWA Southern Heavyweight title in next week’s main event in Jackson, but he cannot look past Eaton—one of the most-decorated wrestlers in USWA history. Orton defeated Eaton on December 31 in this same city, but will lightning strike twice? • Eaton’s Midnight Express partners will be in action, as “Sweet” Stan Lane and Sweet Brown Sugar will face “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant. Snuka and Valiant got the disqualification win over the Midnights last month in Johnson City, when Sugar used a steel chair, including accidentally hitting his own partner Lane. The two have apparently patched things up and are ready to get a win over the fan favorites. Which team will leave Evansville the winners? • The war between former tag team partners will continue, when Nick Bockwinkel battles Ray “The Crippler” Stevens. When these two collided last month in Louisville, Bockwinkel got a DQ victory over Stevens, as Stevens used the microphone cord to choke Bockwinkel. Bockwinkel is hoping for a win over his former partner, as he looks ahead to another shot at Stevens’ First Family of Wrestling ally “Ravishing” Rick Rude and the World Heavyweight title in a few weeks in Lexington. Who will win the latest chapter of this feud? • The popular high-flying tag team of Brian Kendrick and Paul London will return from a 12-card suspension to take on their rivals David Taylor and “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay. Kendrick and London were suspended in November after attacking Finlay following an Elimination Match between the two teams and injuring his ribs, as well as shoving USWA officials during the melee. The two teams had some competitive matches, prior to Kendrick and London’s suspension, so Commissioner Armstrong has decided to make this a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. A fall can end by any standard means (pinfall, submission, disqualification, or countout) and there will be a one-minute rest period between each fall. Since this is a tag team match, the legal men involved in the previous fall must start the next fall. Can Kendrick and London return with a bang and topple the British duo or will the British reign supreme? • The main event will be a rematch for the USWA World Tag Team titles, as Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito put the titles on the line against Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon. The Vachons defeated the Japanese duo last month in a non-title match in Johnson City, with two referees assigned to the bout. The feud was heated up more with the interference of Double X in the big six-man tag team match last week between the Vachons and Doctor X and Fuji, Saito, and Southern champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, leading to the Vachons and X getting the win. Fuji and Saito have yet to get a decisive win over the Algerian brothers. Should the champions retain, they will pull ahead of the Road Warriors’ second reign and have the second-longest World Tag Team title reign with nine successful defenses. Can the Japanese make history or will the Vachons triumph again and win their first USWA Tag Team titles?
All these great bouts, plus Ed “Strangler” Lewis, Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, and the tag team of Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy in action!

March 23, 2015 Card #427: Sailors & Soldiers Memorial Coliseum in Evansville
1) The First Family of Wrestling’s giant team of Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy kept up their winning ways by defeating Virgil and “The Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz in the opener. Studd and Bundy made short work of their foes, getting the pinfall in just a few minutes, after Studd dropped Rodz throat-first across the top rope. Jimmy Hart was very happy with his team’s win! ¼*
2) The now-popular Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy scored another quick win over “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe. As the bell rang, Gordy grabbed Sharpe in an arm ringer, spun him around, and delivered a boot to the stomach. With Sharpe bent over in pain, Gordy grabbed him, lifted him up, and delivered a crushing power bomb! He covered Sharpe and scored the pinfall in about 20 seconds! The Evansville fans gave the former Southern champion a big ovation for this win! (NOTE: This match last two moves!) DUD
3) Ed “Strangler” Lewis defeated George South via submission. The six-time former USWA champion outwrestled South. He took South down to the mat in the Strangler’s Headlock and held the headlock on tightly. South tapped out to the pain, giving Lewis his second win of 2015. ¼*
4) Claudio Castagnoli gave “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon his first decisive loss in the USWA. The Swiss powerhouse hit a running boot to the face right at the start of the bout for a near fall. He pummeled his former tag team partner. Castagnoli hit the Neutralizer, but Cannon managed to kick out. Cannon battled back and got Castagnoli down on the mat. He executed the Glimmering Warlock and made a cover, but Castagnoli was near the ropes and managed to grab the bottom rope for a break. Castagnoli regained control. He whipped Cannon into the ropes, tossed him up into the air, and then nailed him with the Very European uppercut. He covered Cannon and scored the three-count. ***¼
5) Larry “The Axe” Hennig got a quick win over “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson by disqualification. Danielson went after his larger opponent right at the bell and took him down to the mat. He pounded away on Hennig. He choked the big Minnesotan. Normally Danielson is very cognizant of the referee’s five-count, but on this night he was so focused that he did not hear Scott Bowden’s count, as Bowden hit five and called for the bell. Danielson released right at the bell, but it was too late, as Hennig, trying to catch his breath, got his hand raised. He and Jimmy Hart retreated before “Dragon” could continue his onslaught. neg*
6) “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. defeated “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. Eaton had the early advantage, hitting a top rope knee drop on the “Cowboy.” Eaton went up top again and hit the Alabama Jam, but Orton kicked out of the pin attempt. Orton battled back and hit a piledriver, which is how he pinned “Beautiful” Bobby at New Year’s Knockout XI. He covered Eaton, but Eaton kicked out at two. A few minutes later, Orton put Eaton up on the top turnbuckle and hit the superplex. He covered Eaton and scored the pinfall. Orton looked impressive as he hopes to capture his first USWA Southern Heavyweight championship next week in Jackson! **¾ 7) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant scored a relatively quick win over the Midnight Express of “Sweet” Stan Lane and Sweet Brown Sugar. Since he was recovering back in the locker room from his loss to Bob Orton, Jr., “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton did not come out to ringside with his partners. Often, “The Gangster of Love” starts the bout when he and Sugar team up, but tonight Sugar started the bout. Snuka and Valiant double teamed Sugar. Valiant hit a series of roundhouse punches and followed up with a neckbreaker on Sugar for a near fall. Valiant and Sugar knocked heads and both went down. Sugar crawled to his corner to tag into Lane for the first time. Lane reached his free hand in, but just as it looked like Sugar was going to make the tag, Lane released the tag rope and jumped off the ring apron to the arena floor and then walked back to the locker room. The fans cheered Lane’s decision. Valiant made the tag to Snuka and the “Superfly” ran wild on Sugar. He got Sugar down on the mat and went up to the top rope. He came off with the Superfly Leap and scored the pinfall. The fans cheered Snuka and Valiant’s win and were buzzing about what had taken place between the three-time former World Tag Team champions Lane and Sugar! ¼*
8) Ray “The Crippler” Stevens scored a huge singles victory, defeating his former tag team partner and four-time former USWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel in quick fashion. Stevens attacked Bockwinkel aggressively at the start of the match, wanting to hurt and defeat his rival. He hit a suplex on Bockwinkel and then went up to the top rope. He came off with the Bombs Away and scored the pinfall in about two minutes. It was Stevens’ first pinfall or submission win over Bockwinkel and “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart was very happy with Stevens’ big win! neg*
9) David Taylor and “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay defeated the returning Brian Kendrick and Paul London in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. The first fall was action packed, as all four men tagged in-and-out. Finlay slowed the pace down on London and hit the Tombstone. He covered London, but London kicked out. The Irish brawler hit a second Tombstone a few moments later and scored the pinfall to win the first fall, before Kendrick could break up the pin.
After the one-minute rest period, the second fall started. Due to the rules of the match, the legal men involved in the fall had to start the second fall. London was shaken up from two Tombstones. The British took advantage of that and double teamed London, keeping him in the ring for the entire fall. Finlay hit a fireman’s carry Hot Shot for a near fall. He tagged back to Taylor and the former Mid-America champion caught London in a sleeper. As London started to drop to the mat, Kendrick attempted to save his partner, but was cut off by “The Belfast Bruiser,” who nailed Kendrick with a forearm smash and then tossed him out of the ring. London continued to drop, so Joe Wheeler checked his arm. It dropped three times, so Wheeler called for the bell, giving Taylor and Finlay the second fall via submission and the match in two straight falls! *
10) The main event was the latest chapter in the feud between two rulebreaking tag teams. Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito, accompanied by Southern Heavyweight champion and their manager “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, put the titles on the line against Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon. The Vachons had defeated the champions in a non-title bout with two referees assigned last month in Johnson City, while the Japanese had yet to decisively defeat the Algerian brothers. The World Tag Team champions had the early advantage, as they worked over Mad Dog. Saito attempted the Scorpion Leglock, but Mad Dog kicked him off before he could fully apply the submission finisher. The Vachons took over on Saito and trapped him in the ring for several minutes. Saito got nailed by two Mad Dog Pounces. Mad Dog went for a cover, but Saito kicked out at two. While Paul Morton warned Mad Dog about choking Saito on the ropes, Butcher came over and bit Saito, busting him open. Butcher tagged in and continued the onslaught, but Saito capitalized on a mistake and made the tag to Fuji. Gilbert distracted Morton, while Fuji went to his bucket, pulled out some salt, and tossed it in Butcher’s eyes. He covered Butcher, shielding the salt from Morton’s view, as Morton turned around to count, but Butcher kicked out at 2¾. Fuji maintained control and hit a diving head butt of the second rope for another near fall. Fuji went back to the bucket, while Gilbert again tried to distract Morton. Fuji tossed salt again, but this time Morton saw it. Morton called for the bell and awarded the bout via disqualification to the Vachons. Mad Dog jumped in the ring and went after Fuji. Fuji quickly dodged the Dog and bailed out with Gilbert and a bloodied Saito, grabbed the belts on the way out. Despite the loss, Fuji and Saito retained the titles and have now pulled ahead to the number two position on the charts for most defenses of the USWA World Tag Team titles. ***¼

The action in Evansville was great and what a main event with the Vachon's getting a hard fought DQ win over Fuji & Saito. I really liked that two straigh falls win by Finlay & Taylor over London & Kendrick. It would be cool to see Finlay & Taylor get a crack at those USWA tag titles. It looks like the Midnight Express without Jim Cornette is having a really tough time. I must add that Orton vs. Eaton would be a heck of a match to see. Ray Stevens came up huge over Nick Bockwinkel. Wow. I enjoyed the whole card especially that wo move win by Terry Gordy. It is cool to see Gordy on the face side in the USWA.

Thanks to Troy and Crue Fan for the comments!
Highlights of USWA Championship Wrestling from 3-28: • A taped interview aired that took place in the locker room at the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Coliseum in Evansville this past Monday night. Dave Brown caught up to “Sweet” Stan Lane, who had met up with “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. Eaton was recovering from his earlier match with “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. and Lane had just left Sweet Brown Sugar in the ring to battle “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant two-on-one. Brown asked why Lane had abandoned their third Midnight Express partner. Lane replied that the Midnight Express is back to being just two wrestlers and these are the two best. He said that it was Jim Cornette and the Midnights who invited Sugar into the group back in 2012, but Sugar had gotten a big head and thought he was the star of the team. Lane reminded fans that before joining the Midnights, Sugar would just flap his arms and play with a bird, but under Cornette’s managerial tutelage and teaming with Lane and having Eaton at their side, he became a three-time USWA World Tag Team champion. Brown asked “The Gangster of Love” if this meant that the Midnights were becoming fan favorites. Lane said the only fans he cares about making happy are the female ones. He followed up by saying the fans can cheer whomever they want, but that his and Eaton’s goal is to bring some excellence and respect back to the Midnight Express name and they hope to win their record-setting sixth USWA World Tag Team titles in the near future! • Back in the WMC-TV Studios, Lance Russell interviewed Sweet Brown Sugar. Russell asked Sugar’s thoughts on the locker room interview with the now-only members of the Midnight Express. Sugar said that he must have hit Stan Lane really hard with that steel chair last month in Johnson City, as he doesn’t know what he’s saying. Sugar said that he was the true talent of the team. He said that Lane rode on his coattails and that Eaton was overrated, as he and Eaton had never held the titles. Sugar said he’s spent the week scouting talent from around the world and he’s found a new partner, whom he will announce soon. Sugar said that he’s had his eye on this wrestler for a while, ever since he and Lane started having some issues. He said he feels that this man has a much athletic talent as he does and that the two of them will totally outshine the Midnight Express and run them out of the USWA and professional wrestling! Russell asked if USWA fans could get an idea of who Sugar’s new partner would be, but he said that they will have to wait until next week’s edition of Championship Wrestling. • Another championship match was announced, as former Mid-America Heavyweight champion Claudio Castagnoli will get the opportunity to win back the title. He will face the champion, whether Tracy Smothers or Butcher Vachon, depending on the outcome of their title bout next week in Jackson! “The Swiss Superman” lost the title to Smothers last July in Smothers’ hometown of Springfield and would love to get the gold back. Claudio will get his shot on April 13 in Lexington at the Rupp Arena. • A huge match was announced for April 13 in Lexington. Ed “Strangler” Lewis will take on his toughest opponent since returning to regular action, when he takes on the masked man Doctor X! X has proven he has great scientific, pure wrestling skills. But how will he fare against the six-time former USWA champion Lewis? • Also on the Lexington card, will be a rematch in a tag team feud. Brian Kendrick and Paul London have requested a rematch with their rivals David Taylor and Fit Finlay. In order to get the British duo to agree to another match, the high-flying fan favorites had to agree to face them under their rules. Therefore, this will be an eight-round World of Sport rules match! While these matches have taken place before in the USWA, this will be the first tag team match to be fought under the rules that are commonplace in the World of Sport promotion in the U.K. • Another rematch in Lexington will see Larry “The Axe” Hennig take on “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. L. Hennig vs. Danielson on 4/13 in Lexington. Hennig defeated Danielson quickly this past week in Evansville, when Danielson was disqualified for not releasing his chokehold before the five-count. Danielson was interviewed in-studio and stated that he has been so fired up by Hennig and the First Family of Wrestling’s actions that he was focused on defeating the big Minnesotan. He lost focus of following the rules and got disqualified. He thought that he had one more second before breaking, but he was mistaken. The two-time former USWA champion said he will do his best to stay focused and topple Hennig in a few weeks in Lexington!
The USWA returns to Jackson, TN and Oman Arena on March 30 with a huge card of action! • The Age of the Fall will return from their suspension for using a spike on “Dastardly” Danny Doring. They will take on Doring’s regular tag team partner the Amish RoadKill, as well as Jake “The Milkman” Milliman. Milliman offered to team up with RoadKill two weeks ago on Championship Wrestling, out of mutual disgust with Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black. Can the two bearded wrestlers score a big upset over Age of the Fall? • “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant continues his battles with the First Family of Wrestling, when he faces Larry “The Axe” Hennig. Hennig is coming off an upset loss to Claudio Castagnoli last month in Johnson City, but “The Boogie Woogie Man” made short work of the Swiss Superman two weeks ago in Knoxville. Who will leave Jackson the victor in this meeting? • In big tag team action, the British duo of David Taylor and “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay will take on the two-time former USWA Tag Team champions of the Wooorrrllllllld…the New Age Outlaws! Taylor and Finlay are coming off an impressive two straight-fall victory over Brian Kendrick and Paul London. The Outlaws are on a roll, with wins in 2015 over the Vachons, the Gilberts, and the former Midnight Express of “Sweet” Stan Lane and Sweet Brown Sugar. Which team will keep up their momentum? • Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy will have his first match-up with one of his former Hot Stuff, International allies, when he faces one-half of the USWA World Tag Team champions Mr. Saito! While Gordy has had some dominant wins since becoming a fan favorite, he has yet to face an opponent the level of the Japanese Olympian. While Saito is a Tag Team champion, he is very adept at singles competition and can be extremely vicious. Can Gordy topple Saito? • In a rematch for the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight championship, Tracy Smothers will put the gold on the line against Butcher Vachon. Butcher appeared to have the title won back in January in Nashville, but had to settle for a disqualification victory. The Algerian would love to capture the Mid-America title, as well as the World Tag Team titles with his brother Mad Dog. Can Butcher capture one of his goals or will Smothers hold on to the Mid-America gold? • The main event will be for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert will make his first defense of the title when he faces former USWA World champion “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. Orton has got momentum on his side, as he defeated Eddie last month in Louisville, and then defeated and injured Eddie’s brother Doug the following week in Johnson City. Can Orton capture his first Southern gold or will Gilbert retain the title?
All these great bouts, plus an international match-up of two former Mid-America Heavyweight champions as Claudio Castagnoli battles Pepper Gomez. As well as the tag team of Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy in action. And the in-ring debut of the masked Double X!

March 30, 2015 Card #428: Oman Arena in Jackson, TN
1) Hillbilly Jim and Cousin Luke scored a surprise win via disqualification in the opener over Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy. The First Family of Wrestling team largely dominated Jim and Luke. Studd was choking Luke with his huge boot and was not paying attention to Tom Branch’s count. Branch hit five and called for the bell, giving Jim and Luke the victory. Jimmy Hart, Studd, and Bundy were irate by Branch’s decision! The hillbillies returned to the locker room, before the giants could unleash more punishment! ¼*
2) The masked Double X made a successful in-ring debut, defeating S.D. Jones. Double X was accompanied by his ally Doctor X, who sported a suit and tie, as he did when he first appeared in the crowds at USWA cards in 2014. Double X showed some good scientific mat wrestling skills and some impressive dropkicks. He worked over “Special Delivery’s” leg and like Doctor X, utilized the figure-four leglock. Jones was caught in the center of the ring and tapped out to the hold. ¼*
3) The Age of the Fall returned from their suspension and defeated the makeshift team of the Amish RoadKill and Jake “The Milkman” Milliman. It looked like the bearded tag team would score a huge upset, as Milliman hit the second rope head butt on Jimmy Jacobs for a near fall. RoadKill tagged in and worked over Jacobs. He hit a Barn Burner and went for a cover, but Tyler Black came off the second rope with a knee drop to the “Angry Amish Warrior” to break up the pin. Black tagged in a few moments later and had Milliman down on the mat. He took his time in climbing up the ropes. He finally went for the Phoenix Splash, but “The Milkman” rolled out of the way and the Iowan crashed hard. Milliman went up the ropes himself and hit another head butt, but Black kicked out at 2¾. RoadKill tagged back in and hit a power bomb on Black. He then went up the ropes himself and went for an Amish Splash, but this time Black dodged the attack and RoadKill landed hard. Jacobs tagged back in and worked over RoadKill. He clamped on the End Time in the center of the ring. Milliman attempted a save, but was cut off by Black, who nailed him with a jumping knee strike. RoadKill was caught and had no choice, but to tap out. ***
4) In a battle of two former Mid-America Heavyweight champions, Claudio Castagnoli made short work of “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach” Pepper Gomez. The “Swiss Superman” dominated the Mexican superstar from the opening bell. He hit the Neutralizer on Gomez after about two minutes to score the surprisingly quick pinfall. Castagnoli was impressive against one former Mid-America champ and hopes to be as dominant against the current champion in a couple of weeks in Lexington. (Who will that champion be? Read on!) DUD
5) Larry “The Axe” Hennig defeated “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant. The big Minnesotan was aggressive against “The Boy from New York City” at the start of the bout. He hit an elbow drop and later a double forearm hammer for separate near falls. He blasted Valiant with the Axe, which busted him open, but only got a two-count. He later caught Valiant in a chinlock and pummeled away at him. With the fans cheering him on, Valiant boogied his way to his feet and fought out of the chinlock. He caught Hennig in the sleeper a few moments later. Hennig started to drop, but made his way to the ropes for a break. With Jimmy Hart yelling through the megaphone, “The Axe” fought back and hit a crushing body slam on Valiant. Valiant fought to his feet, but Hennig knocked him back down with another Axe. He covered Valiant and scored the pinfall. **½
6) Ed “Strangler” Lewis defeated “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe by submission. Lewis executed the Strangler’s Headlock on Sharpe, but let Sharpe up to his feet to wrestle some more. Lewis caught Sharpe in a double wristlock a few moments later and Sharpe quickly submitted to the hold. The Jackson fans gave the six-time former USWA champion a big ovation for his win! ¼*
7) The New Age Outlaws defeated David Taylor and Fit Finlay. The British team had the early advantage against “The Road Dogg” Jesse James. Finlay hit a hard scoop slam on James for a near fall. James battled back and tagged to Billy Gunn. Gunn hit a Cobra Clutch slam on “The Belfast Bruiser” for a two-count. The Irish brawler managed to get to his corner and tag to Taylor. Gunn maintained offense against Taylor and eventually hit the Famouser. Before Gunn could make a cover, Finlay jumped in, but Gunn saw him coming and tossed him over the top rope. James went after Finlay on the floor to ensure he didn’t get involved again, as Gunn covered Taylor and scored the pinfall. The Outlaws continue to be impressive in 2015! **
8) One-half of the World Tag Team champions Mr. Saito scored an impressive singles win over Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy. Former Southern champion Gordy had the early advantage. He caught Saito in the Oriental Spike and tried to force a submission, but Saito got to the ropes. Gordy later hit the power bomb and went for a cover, but Saito’s manager and the current Southern Heavyweight champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert jumped up on the ring apron and distracted Sam Platania. Gordy got off of Saito and went after his former manager Gilbert! Gilbert ran into the ring. Platania got in between the two and warned Gilbert not to get Saito disqualified. Meanwhile, out of nowhere from the locker room came former USWA World Tag Team and Texas champion Ox Baker! Baker grabbed Gordy and rammed him head-first into the ring post! Baker then delivered his heart punch to Gordy, before rolling him back into the ring and then returning to the locker room. Gordy was busted open and Saito took advantage. Saito locked him in a Prison Deathlock. “Bamm Bamm” was trapped for nearly two minutes, but eventually fought free with some big right hands. Saito tried to put Gordy out with a sleeper, but Gordy rammed him back-first into the buckles. Saito hit his suplex twice, but Gordy managed to kick out. Gordy fought back, but couldn’t maintain control, as Saito was ready for him. He caught Gordy in the Scorpion Leglock. Gordy fought for the ropes for nearly two minutes, but Saito managed to hold him back. Gordy was left with no choice, but to tap out to the hold! The Southern champion Gilbert was very happy with his charge’s win over his former charge! ****
9) Tracy Smothers retained the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight championship by defeating Butcher Vachon in a rematch from January in Nashville. It looked like Butcher might defeat Smothers again, without winning the title as he attacked the champion right at the bell, taking him outside the ring. He hit a body slam on the arena floor, then returned to the ring. Smothers was almost counted out, but managed to roll back into the ring by the count of nine. Butcher missed a big splash and Smothers took control. He rocked his larger challenger with big punches and eventually knocked Vachon down with a jumping wheel kick. Butcher got back to his feet, but Smothers nailed him with a second wheel kick. The champ made a cover and scored the pinfall to retain the Mid-America gold! **¾
10) The main event was for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, accompanied by “Sensational” Sherri Martel, made his first defense of the title, against “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. Orton had defeated the champion in the last month, as well as put his brother Doug out of action. The challenger had the early advantage and had Gilbert in trouble. He put Gilbert up on the top rope and went for the superplex. Before Orton could climb up the ropes, Sherri screamed at him from outside the ring, diverting his attention. When Orton finally climbed up the ropes, the champion had recovered and shoved him off. Gilbert then came off the second turnbuckle with an elbow drop. He covered the “Cowboy,” but the challenger kicked out. Gilbert attempted a submission win with a figure-four leglock, but Orton got to the ropes. Gilbert got Orton Jr. down on the mat and came off the second rope again, this time with a fist drop. He covered Orton and scored the pinfall to retain the Southern title! *

The USWA continues to roll with a solid show from Jackson. I am very intrigued by Double X joining Doctor X. Who are these masked men? Only time will tell. Eddie Gilbert vs. Bob Orton was a wild main event and it was impressive to see "Hot Stuff" retain the title. Equally impressive was Mr. Saito beating Terry Gordy in the match of the night. The sleeper match for me was The Age of the Fall over Amish Roadkill & Jake Milliman. That was a really entertaining bout and almost resulted in an upset.

Thanks to Crue Fan for the comments!
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I'm actually further along in game year 2015, but haven't had time to write up recaps. Some great stuff is upcoming!Highlights from the last two editions of USWA Championship Wrestling: 4-4:• Commissioner Bob Armstrong announced that Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito will make their next defense of the USWA World Tag Team titles in the main event on April 20 at the Tupelo Sports Arena. The Japanese champions, who are now in the number spot for the longest reign of these titles, based on number of defenses, will put the titles on the line against the two-time former champions the New Age Outlaws! The Outlaws have been on a roll so far in 2015, with no losses. Can they regain the gold? • The commissioner also announced that as a result of the victory via disqualification on March 23 in Evansville, Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon will receive another rematch in the near future, against whomever the champions are. • Speaking of former World Tag Team champions, three-time former co-holder Sweet Brown Sugar was interviewed in-studio. Sugar was sporting some new threads, in wearing a red leather jacket and matching pants. He said that he has scouted the wrestling world and found a new tag team partner that he feels is a good fit for him. He stated that this man flies higher than “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and is better looking than “Sweet” Stan Lane. He feels that with his new partner, he will achieve greater accomplishments in the tag team division. Into the studio, wearing matching clothing, walked D’Lo Brown! Brown is an up-and-comer in professional wrestling, who has wrestled all over the Midwest, particularly in Impact Pro Wrestling in Iowa. Brown stated that his frog splash, which he calls the Lo Down, has more impact than “Beautiful” Bobby’s Alabama Jam. Lance Russell asked if this new duo will have a team name. Sugar stated that he and Brown are pretty and young athletes, who will make the men jealous and the woman zealous. He said the Midnight Express’ days will be over, but it’s now time for the PYT Express! Russell asked what Sugar meant by “PYT,” to which Sugar replied that Russell has no good taste in music, as it means “Pretty Young Thing,” based on the song by Michael Jackson! Brown said that the USWA fans will see him make his in-ring debut on April 20 in Tupelo! The new team then danced their way out of the WMC-TV Studios! • The Southern Heavyweight champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, flanked by “Sensational” Sherri Martel, was interviewed later in the show. Lance Russell congratulated the manager of Hot Stuff, International on retaining the Southern gold. Gilbert said that Russell shouldn’t be surprised, as he is both the best wrestler and manager in professional wrestling today! Russell asked Gilbert why “The Fabulous” Ox Baker showed up in the match last week in the match in Jackson between World Tag Team champion Mr. Saito and Gilbert’s former charge Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy. Gilbert said that with so much gold in Hot Stuff, International and so many wrestlers coming after them, he needed some extra muscle. Therefore he had brought Baker into Hot Stuff to take cover of problems like Gordy, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, Doctor X, Double X, and the Vachons! Baker entered the studio, holding up his fist for his famed heart punch! Baker said that USWA fans had been deprived of not having seen him in action for almost nine years and that it was time for the return of the “The Fabulous” Ox! Baker said he would be happy to follow Gilbert’s wishes and he plans to capture USWA gold as well! Gilbert announced that Baker will be in action on April 27 in Nashville. 4-11:• Some more big matches were announced. Southern Heavyweight champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert will put the title on the line in the main event on April 27 in Nashville against the man he defeated for the title—four-time former champion Steve “Dr. Death” Williams! Williams has not been competing, since losing the title to Gilbert in February in Johnson City, due to the neck injury he suffered back in January in Chattanooga when Hot Stuff, International attacked both him and Terry Gordy. Williams has been training hard and rehabbing his neck, so that unlike their last meeting, he hopes to be at 100% physically when meets Gilbert inside the ring! • Another wrestler will be returning from injury, as “Dastardly” Danny Doring will return from the heinous attack to his eye from Jimmy Jacobs’ spike in January in Lexington. Doring and the Amish RoadKill will battle the Age of the Fall on April 20 in Tupelo! • Commissioner Armstrong also announced that the first matches for the first-ever Derby City Stampede supercard will be announced on the April 18 edition of USWA Championship Wrestling! This show will emanate from the Horse Show Pavilion at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Louisville on May 1, the night before the “greatest two minutes in sports”—the Kentucky Derby! The USWA comes back to the Rupp Arena in Lexington on April 13 with a huge card!• In a rematch from a few weeks ago in Evansville, First Family of Wrestling member Larry “The Axe” Hennig will collide with two-time former USWA World champion “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Danielson showed his aggression against his larger opponent last time, getting too fired up and getting disqualified quickly. Danielson hopes to maintain his composure and get a big win over Hennig. Hennig has been impressive since returning to the USWA last summer and joining Jimmy Hart’s stable. Which wrestler will emerge victorious? • Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy is irate after the attack by Ox Baker and subsequent loss to Mr. Saito on the last card in Jackson. This week Gordy gets to battle the other-half of the World Tag Team champions Mr. Fuji. Can Gordy gain a measure of revenge in his war with Hot Stuff, International? • Two other rivals will collide, when “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka battles Ray “The Crippler” Stevens. Stevens is coming off of his first decisive win over Nick Bockwinkel from a few weeks ago in Evansville and hopes to keep his momentum going. Can he drop the Bombs Away or will the Fijian warrior fly high? • A tag team feud will continue, as Brian Kendrick and Paul London battle “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay and David Taylor. Finlay and Taylor agreed to this match, only if it was by their rules, which means this will be fought under eight rounds of World of Sports Rules! While fans have seen these types of bouts twice before in USWA history, this will be the first time that a tag team match has taken place under the rules. Dave Brown reviewed the rules of this type of match on last week’s episode of USWA Championship Wrestling: I. The match is fought under a rounds-system, similar to boxing or MMA matches. This specific match will be wrestled under eight five-minute rounds. II. In between each round, there will be a one-minute rest period. III. A team wins the entire match by winning two falls (pins and/or submissions) or by one knockout. The referee will determine if a wrestler is knocked out. IV. If a fall ends at any point in the round, the match will resume in the next round. (Example: If Taylor scores a fall on Kendrick at 2:30 in the second round, the match will continue in round three.) Since this is also a tag team match, the wrestlers involved in the fall must continue the next round for their teams, before tagging out to their partners. V. If one wrestler on a team is counted out, disqualified, or is knocked out, before two falls are scored, he is eliminated from the match and his partner will continue the match alone. The eliminated wrestler must return to the locker room for the duration of the match (like in an Elimination Match). VI. If the match goes the entire eight rounds without winners, the match will be declared a draw. Can the high-flying fan favorites defeat the British at their own game? • Ed “Strangler” Lewis continues his comeback in 2015. He will take on his toughest foe this year, when he battles the masked Doctor X! Lewis is familiar with the masked wrestler, as X of course attacked Lewis and his charge at the time Lou Thesz in 2014, after appearing in the crowds for several weeks at USWA cards. The “Strangler” defeated X twice last year in Lewis’ only singles bouts of 2014. Can Lewis make it a third win? • Two-time and current USWA Mid-America Heavyweight champion Tracy Smothers will put the title on the line against former champion “The Swiss Superman” Claudio Castagnoli! Smothers captured his first Mid-America title from Castagnoli back in July in his hometown of Springfield. Castagnoli has gotten some big wins lately, including over his former tag team partner “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon and an upset over Larry “The Axe” Hennig. Can Castagnoli regain the gold or will the popular Smothers retain? • The main event will be between two rivals and will be for the top prize in the USWA. Current and two-time USWA World Heavyweight champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude will defend against four-time former champion Nick Bockwinkel. Rude retained the title against Bockwinkel in February in Memphis, but was aided by hooking Bockwinkel’s tights. Can Bockwinkel topple Rude and win his fifth World title or will the First Family of Wrestling member hold on to the gold? All these huge bouts, plus the Age of the Fall take on “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Jr. and Bob Roop in tag team action! As well as the Midnight Express of “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Sweet” Stan Lane, and the masked Double X in action!
