Thanks to Troy for the comments!Highlights of the last three episodes of USWA Championship Wrestling: September 24: • It was announced that World Tag Team champion Doctor X suffered a back injury from Steve Williams’ Oklahoma Stampede on a steel chair after the non-title tag team bout in Springfield with X and Billy Black Lyons and Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy. Lyons was interviewed in the studio and said that Williams and Gordy should be banned for life for what they did. Commissioner Bob Armstrong entered the studio and reminded Lyons that he had attempted to ambush the fan favorites with the chair first! Lyons asked Armstrong how he and the Doctor are expected to defend their titles with X’s injury. “Bullet” Bob replied that X is welcome to miss the matches but then he and Lyons would be stripped of the titles, just like any other injured wrestler who cannot defend the title within a calendar month. Armstrong also added that if Lyons and X retain the titles on October 10, they will defend against Williams and Gordy in the near future, as a result of Williams and Gordy’s non-title win last week! • Speaking of this feud, the commissioner announced later in the show that a huge six-man tag team match would take place on October 17 at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, featuring Williams, Gordy, and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan colliding with Lyons and the Vachons! This will be the return to action for Butcher Vachon after he suffered a back injury from his three opponents following a tag team match at Independence Day Bash with the Vachons against Williams and Gordy. Lyons announced that Mad Dog was alright after getting a piledriver from “Hacksaw” on the Springfield Civic Center floor and that the only way Duggan could beat Mad Dog with a piledriver is by doing it outside the ring. He said that both Vachons will be out for blood on the 17th! With the back injury now to Doctor X, you can bet that the animosity in this feud has increased! • Lance Russell was hoping to have an update on Doug Gilbert, after he was spiked in his bout with “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan last week. Unfortunately, neither Commissioner Armstrong nor USWA Committee Chairman Jerry Jarrett had been able to contact Doug. Jarrett went to the nearby NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield but Doug had not been checked in there as a patient. They even reached out to his father, former USWA referee Tommy Gilbert but Tommy had not been able to reach Doug either. • This week’s song from “Exotic” Adrian Street was the last one from his album Shake, Wrestle, ‘n Roll, and is entitled “Something Very Strange About A Cowboy.” Street, flanked by Jim Cornette and Dan “The Beast” Severn, came into the WMC-TV Studios wearing a pink with purple cowboy hat and vest. Street said that he is thinking of dressing up as a cowboy for Halloween and wanted Lance’s thoughts. Lance said that wasn’t his problem and Street could do what he wants! Cornette put in a plug for Shake, Wrestle, ‘n Roll telling USWA fans that they can pick up the album on CD at merchandise stands at USWA cards or via USWAMerchandise.com! October 1: • Another huge match-up was announced for “Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, as he will battle “Classy” Freddie Blassie on Halloween night—October 31 at the Tupelo Sports Arena for Blassie’s USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. Duggan is coming off big wins in the last few weeks over the One Man Gang and Mad Dog Vachon. As loyal USWA fans know, Duggan is one of the biggest stars never to have held any USWA championship, after having challenged for all five (including the now-retired USWA Texas championship). It would be a real treat for “Hacksaw” to capture his first title on Halloween! • Brian Kendrick was interviewed. He said that the Heavenly Bodies may have put down Paul London and Nick Jackson but he has found another former USWA wrestler willing to team with him. He said that this wrestler has wrestled both Tom Prichard and Chris Candido in the past and would love to get his hands on them again. He issued a challenge for him and his mystery partner to face the Bodies! • “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan and Sir Oliver Humperdink were interviewed as well. Lance Russell asked them if they knew about what had happened to Doug Gilbert after Sullivan’s bout with him in Springfield. Humperdink said that Doug probably went into hiding outside of Lexington, TN after he embarrassed his family in his match with Sullivan! Russell then asked why the two had been appearing during the Patriot’s matches on the last two cards. Sullivan said that he admires the Patriot; that he is a great physical specimen and athlete, and he is intrigued by the fact that this man “hides his face under a mask.” He said that he and Humperdink both have been scouting the Patriot and that they have signed him to become a member of the House of Humperdink! Russell was disgusted and didn’t believe their announcement, asking where the Patriot was to verify this claim. Sullivan said that the wrestling world will soon see the truth! October 8: • Jim Cornette, of course with Dan Severn, was back in the studios to answer Brian Kendrick’s challenge. He told Lance Russell that he doesn’t understand how Kendrick can be so stubborn and not learn from his past mistakes. He said that if Kendrick and whatever mystery partner he has want to be embarrassed again, the Heavenly Bodies would be happy to deliver another beating. He agreed to the match and it was made official for Halloween night in Tupelo! • Commissioner Armstrong also announced some more matches for the October 17 card at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville. o Billy Gunn will go one-on-one with an old rival in Tyler Black. Both men had several tag team battles in the last year, when the New Age Outlaws battled the Age of the Fall. Both have since moved on to singles competition, including Black challenging Fit Finlay for the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight title a few weeks ago in Springfield. This will be a big match for both wrestlers! o “Superstar” Bill Dundee will face his rival Bobby Shane! These two have had two great bouts earlier in the year with Shane winning both, thanks in part to the help of manager Jimmy Hart. Dundee is determined to get a win over Shane! o In a rematch from a few weeks ago in Evansville, Red Bastien will do battle with the One Man Gang! Bastien appeared on his way to a big win over the Gang last time until he used a steel chair on Gang, which Gang had attempted to use first. Bastien is hoping to remain calm and beat the Halsted St. giant! • Commissioner Armstrong verified that Tyler Black will receive another shot at the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight title, due to his disqualification win over Fit Finlay a few weeks ago in Springfield. • The Patriot was interviewed in-studio. The masked man thanked the great USWA fans for making him feel welcome in his first couple of months in the area. He said he feels that no matter what city he is wrestling in, he feels at home. He acknowledged Kevin Sullivan and Sir Oliver Humperdink’s claims that he has joined the House of Humperdink by calling the statements “outright lies”. He said that while he knows neither Sullivan nor Humperdink well, he can tell from his time in the area that neither man is a great American and that they are only focused on harming others. He said that while he would be happy to battle any House of Humperdink members in the ring, he will not be on their side ever! The USWA comes back to the Rupp Arena in Lexington on October 10 with a huge card!• Before he faces the One Man Gang again, Red Bastien will take on another giant when goes one-on-one with Big John Studd of the First Family of Wrestling! Bastien and Studd have battled in the past and Bastien would love to get some momentum before his match with Gang next week in Nashville. Can he topple Studd? • Studd’s tag team partner Superstar Bundy will also be in singles competition, when he faces former World Heavyweight champion “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant! Valiant got himself and “Superstar” Bill Dundee disqualified against Bundy and Studd on the last card in Springfield, when he shoved the chair into Bundy’s face that Bundy was trying to use on Valiant. He is hoping to avenge that loss and gain momentum, as he will challenge Bundy’s First Family of Wrestling ally “Ravishing” Rick Rude for the World title in next week’s main event in Nashville. Can Valiant stop the New Jersey Superstar? • A tag team rivalry will continue, as the Midnight Express battle the Heavenly Bodies! Jim Cornette’s team has been on a tear, injuring Paul London and Nick Jackson, and compiling several wins along the way. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Sweet” Stan Lane have yet to defeat Tom Prichard and Chris Candido. Will it finally happen in Lexington? • Nick Bockwinkel will return from his injury and will do battle with the House of Humperdink’s One Man Gang! Bockwinkel wanted “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan for his return but Sullivan said that Bockwinkel must first meet the other House of Humperdink members before he can face Sullivan. Give the four-time former World champion a lot of credit for taking on a large challenge in the Gang. Can he defeat the Gang in his path to Sullivan? • “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay left the last card in Springfield with the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight title still intact. This week, he puts the gold on the line against former champion Ray “The Crippler” Stevens! Stevens has won every one of their matches this year, whether the title was at stake or not. Can he finally beat Finlay and win the gold or will “The Belfast Bruiser” retain once again? • The main event will be a rematch from last month in Evansville, as Doctor X and Billy Black Lyons make their first defense of the USWA World Tag Team titles against two-time former champions Larry Zbyszko and Mr. Saito of the House of Humperdink! X and Lyons won the titles in impressive fashion. However, they are going into this match with one disadvantage: Doctor X’s back injury. Can they find a way to defeat the impressive Zbyszko and Saito and retain the titles or will Zbyszko and Saito become three-time champions? All these huge bouts, as well as “Exotic” Adrian Street, the Patriot, former Mid-America Heavyweight champion Tommy Rogers, Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana, and more USWA stars in action at the Rupp Arena!

Happy New Year, Promoters!
October 10, 2016 Card #484: Rupp Arena in Lexington
1) Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana was victorious in the opener over “The Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz. Cabana got a great reaction from the Lexington fans. He controlled much of this short match, knocking Rodz down with a flying hip attack. He hit his primary finisher, the Colt .45 (a double underhook into a backbreaker across the shoulders, with Cabana dropping down with the move), for the first time in a USWA ring. The move put Rodz down for the count and gave Cabana another win. DUD
2) Tommy Rogers picked up a win over Gene Spurlock of Hollywood, FL. Rogers dazzled Spurlock with his fast-paced offense, hitting a series of dropkicks for a two-count. The former Mid-America champion hit the Tomikaze a few moments later to put Spurlock down for the three-count. Rogers got a big ovation from the Rupp Arena fans and indicated that he would love a rematch for the Mid-America title! DUD
3) The Patriot went to 6-0 with a pinfall in 30 seconds over the Amish RoadKill. As the Patriot entered the ring waiting for the bell, “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan and Sir Oliver Humperdink came into the Rupp Arena and again watched his match from the aisleway, indicating that the Patriot had joined the House of Humperdink. The masked man seemed irate by the duo’s appearance and he was fired up against “The Angry Amish Warrior.” He hit an impressive hip toss on the 302-pounder, then caught him on the rebound with a power slam to score the pinfall. After getting his hand raised, Patriot headed up the aisle but Sullivan and Humperdink quickly retreated! DUD (NOTE: This was my first time using Del Wilkes’s color card, available exclusively through Promoter Prime!)
4) Red Bastien scored an impressive pinfall on Big John Studd. Bastien knew he had a challenge against him, giving up 138 pounds to his opponent, so his attack was fast-paced against Studd. He was able to leap up to the 6’10” giant’s head and hit his always-impressive flying head scissors. The move only put Studd down for the two-count. Bastien attempted to lift Studd into the airplane spin but couldn’t get him up. Studd cut Bastien off with a running clothesline and scored a two-count. Studd worked over Bastien. He whipped the redhead into the ropes and tossed him over the top rope with a backdrop. Bastien had the wherewithal to grab on to the rope as he went over and not crash to the floor. Studd had his back turned until “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart blurted through the megaphone to turn around. Studd went after Bastien but Bastien “skinned the cat” and flipped over Studd’s back. He nailed Studd with a knee smash to the back and then managed to get Studd up just enough to hit a back suplex. He covered the giant and scored the pinfall. The Lexington fans popped big for Bastien’s win, as he looks ready for a rematch with the One Man Gang next week in Nashville! **¾
5) “Exotic” Adrian Street kept up his winning ways with a pinfall on Virgil. Street had the early advantage, outwrestling Virgil. Virgil capitalized on a mistake by the British grappler and locked him in the Million Dollar Dream for over a minute. It looked like Street might suffer his first loss but with Jim Cornette screaming encouragement, he made the ropes. Virgil went up to the top rope but Street cut him off and surprised him with a kiss, as he did to S.D. Jones in July at the Nashville Fairgrounds. Virgil was disgusted but stayed in the match a few minutes longer. Street hit a neckbreaker for a near fall. A few moments later he caught Virgil in the crucifix to score the pin. Cornette and Street, flanked by Dan “The Beast” Severn, were very happy with another victory! ***
6) Former World Heavyweight champion “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant scored a big win over Superstar Bundy. Bundy had the early control but Valiant battled back. He tried to put out his larger foe with the sleeper. Bundy dropped to the mat but as Frank Morrell was about to check his arm, “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart jumped up on the apron. Valiant released the hold and went after the manager. He remained focused and worked over Bundy. With the big Superstar down on the mat, Valiant hit the Boogie Woogie elbow and scored the pinfall. Valiant looked ready for a rematch with “Ravishing” Rick Rude for the World Heavyweight title in next week’s main event in “Music City”! *¾
7) The Heavenly Bodies continued their winning ways in their feud with the Midnight Express with a controversial victory. The Bodies, accompanied as always by Jim Cornette and his bodyguard Dan “The Beast” Severn, entered the ring first. After Cornette did his introductions for his men, “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Sweet” Stan Lane came out next. As the Midnights entered the ring, Dr. Tom Prichard and “The Suicide Blonde” Chris Candido charged them both. They ganged up on “The Gangster of Love” and threw him shoulder-first into the ring post. Lane rolled out of the ring. The Bodies then double teamed Eaton, who hadn’t gotten off his ring robe. They whipped him into the ropes for a double clothesline but Eaton ducked, bounced back, and clotheslined both Bodies. He took off his robe and Jerry Calhoun called for the bell to start the match officially. Eaton had some early offense against “The Doctor of Desire” but the Bodies had a game plan to trap him in the ring. Lane started to get to his feet but Severn was there to attack the shoulder and keep him from getting to the Midnights’ legal corner. The Bodies were relentless against Eaton. Candido hit a top rope huracanrana for a near fall. Prichard tagged back in and hit two enzuigiris in a row. Somehow, “Beautiful” Bobby was able to kick out. Frustrated, Prichard went to the Bodies’ corner, where Cornette pulled something out of his jacket pocket and handed it to Dr. Tom. Prichard slipped the object into his kneepad and then delivered a jumping knee drop with it. He covered Eaton and scored the pinfall in about three minutes, just as Lane had finally gotten up on the ring apron. Lane realized what had happened and quickly grabbed a weapon of his own—a steel chair from ringside. He entered the ring and nailed both Prichard and Candido from behind with it, as Calhoun raised their hands. Severn got up on the ring apron but Lane nailed him right in the head with it as well. Cornette didn’t dare try to mess with Lane in this state! Lane revived Eaton and the Midnights grabbed Prichard and placed the chair on the mat. They then executed the Veg-o-Matic, driving the back of Prichard’s neck onto the chair! Severn recovered and entered the ring. The Midnights retreated rather than try to fight the former USWA and UFC World Heavyweight champion. Cornette entered the ring as well and Candido had recovered by this point too. The three helped Prichard to his feet and to the back. Prichard was in a lot of pain, favoring his neck. ½*
8) Nick Bockwinkel returned to action from his neck injury and scored a disqualification win over the One Man Gang. Many fans and wrestling experts wondered if “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan would join Sir Oliver Humperdink in the Gang’s corner. Sullivan did not initially appear, which was probably for his own good, as Bockwinkel was extra aggressive in this bout against his larger foe. Gang threw Bockwinkel out of the ring but Bockwinkel quickly recovered. He tripped the Gang from outside, then pulled him to the corner and smashed Gang’s leg into the ring post. Bockwinkel returned to the ring and locked on the figure-four. Gang was near the ropes and easily able to grab it. The Chicago giant recovered and hit the 747 Splash. He covered Bockwinkel but pulled his shoulder off the mat before what could have easily been a three. Gang then gloated and went for a second 747. Bockwinkel rolled out of the way and the Gang landed hard. Both men were hurting but the four-time former USWA champion recovered first, jumped on Gang’s back, and clamped on the Bockwinkel sleeper. The fans went wild as the Gang dropped to the mat. Seeing his charge in trouble, Humperdink entered the ring and nailed Bockwinkel from behind with his cane. Paul Neighbors saw this and immediately called for the bell. As Bockwinkel fell to the mat, Gang recovered. He took Humperdink’s cane and went to smash Bockwinkel with it but Bockwinkel cut him off with a punch to the midsection. Gang dropped the cane and Bockwinkel nailed both him and Humperdink with it. The fans went wild, as Humperdink and Gang retreated up the aisleway, where Sullivan was now waiting for them! Bockwinkel saw Sullivan and left the ring with the cane in hand. The House of Humperdink members quickly retreated the Rupp Arena, escaping the wrath of a furious Bockwinkel! **
9) In the first of two championship matches, Ray “The Crippler” Stevens became a two-time USWA Mid-America Heavyweight champion by defeating “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay in just a few minutes. Finlay attacked Stevens right away, having not yet scored a victory on Stevens. He blasted Stevens with a head butt, knocking him down in the first few seconds of the bout. He went for a quick cover, driving his forearm across Stevens’ throat but the challenger kicked out. Finlay hit the tombstone piledriver a few minutes into the bout but Stevens landed near the ropes and got his foot under the bottom rope. Finlay hit the reverse splash (which he now wishes to be called the Belfast Bomb) but again Stevens kicked out. Stevens took over on the Irish brawler. He hit the piledriver once in the center of the ring, covered Finlay, and scored the pinfall to regain the title he was stripped of almost exactly one year ago. “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart was ecstatic to have the Mid-America title back in the First Family of Wrestling! (With winning his second Mid-America title, Stevens is now in a three-way tie for most reigns of this title, along with Finlay and Tracy Smothers.) ¼*
10) The main event was a rematch from last month in Evansville for the USWA World Tag Team titles. The new champions Doctor X and Billy Black Lyons put the titles on the line against two-time former champions Larry Zbyszko and Mr. Saito of the House of Humperdink. The champions were going into this bout at an automatic disadvantage, as Doctor X had suffered a back injury after a non-title loss to Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy on the last card in Springfield.
X sported a back brace that could be seen through his black singlet. Lyons started the match and tried to stay in as long as he could so that his wounded teammate wouldn’t risk further injury and losing the titles. The challengers started off strong against Lyons but Lyons took control. X offered to tag in. Lyons was reluctant but eventually agreed. Zbyszko ambushed X and hit a backbreaker, targeting the injury. He then hit the piledriver but X managed to kick out at 2¾. Saito took control and rammed X’s back into the ring post outside the ring. The masked man was almost counted out but with Lyons’ help, he managed to return to the ring. Saito hit his suplex right away. Lyons, still on the arena floor, slid into the ring and stomped Saito in the head, breaking up the count and busting him open. Zbyszko came in but Lyons nailed him with a dropkick. Both X and Saito were hurting but the masked man managed to make the tag first. Lyons immediately jumped on the bloodied Japanese Olympian. He went for the X-cellent sleeper. Saito fought for nearly two minutes. He started to drop to the mat. Jerry Calhoun checked Saito’s arm. Right before the third check, Sir Oliver Humperdink got up on the ring apron and distracted Calhoun. With Calhoun’s attention diverted, Zbyszko came off the second rope with a sledge to Lyons’ neck. X came in and dropkicked Zbyszko from behind, sending him over the top rope and to the floor. X returned to the champs’ corner, while Calhoun returned his attention to the action. Lyons tagged the masked man again. X pounded on Saito’s face, causing his blood to flow more. He tossed Saito out of the ring, near the champions’ corner. He and Lyons took Saito and rammed him face-first into the ring post, paying him back for him running X’s back into the post a few minutes before. Zbyszko had recovered and went after the champs but Lyons cut him off and the two brawled. Legal man X returned to the ring, as Calhoun continued his count. Humperdink ran over and tried to help Saito but couldn’t in time, as Calhoun’s count hit 10 and he awarded the match via countout to X and Lyons! The Lexington fans favored the champions on this night and gave them a big ovation for their hard-fought win, despite very difficult circumstances! ***½

Big win by Bastien over Studd. Nice to see Stevens grab the title. Also good to see Street take a win as well.

Thanks to Troy for the comments!
Highlights of USWA Championship Wrestling on 10-15: • Commissioner Bob Armstrong announced that Doctor X and Billy Black Lyons’ next challengers for the USWA World Tag Team titles will be the duo that injured X—Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy! That huge title bout will take place in the main event on November 21 in Bowling Green, KY at the Bowling Green High School. Williams and Gordy defeated the champions in a non-title bout last month in Springfield and then injured X’s back after the bout. X and Lyons defied the odds by retaining the belts last week against two-time former champions Larry Zbyszko and Mr. Saito. Can they avenge the loss to Williams and Gordy, as well as X’s injury? • Also, on the Bowling Green card, the new and now two-time USWA Mid-America Heavyweight champion Ray “The Crippler” Stevens will make his first defense of his second reign when he faces former champion Tommy Rogers. Rogers scored a big win over Stevens to retain the Mid-America title back in June in Union City. Stevens and “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart were interviewed in the WMC-TV Studios. Hart said that it is a shame that Stevens had to wait so long to win back the title he never lost but finally a wrong has been made right. He said that “The Crippler” will hold this title for a very long time. Stevens said that he underestimated Rogers last time but in Bowling Green, things will be different and he will leave with the title still in hand! Hart said that with the World Heavyweight title and the Mid-America Heavyweight title back in the First Family of Wrestling, more gold will be coming their way soon! • It was announced that “The Doctor of Desire” Tom Prichard suffered a neck injury from the Midnight Express’ Veg-o-Matic on a chair last week after the Midnights-Heavenly Bodies match in Lexington. The five-time former USWA World Tag Team champion will be out of action for about six weeks. The injury has changed next week’s originally-scheduled tag team match in Nashville. (See Card #485 preview below for more details.) • Commissioner Bob Armstrong announced more matches for the Halloween night card at the Tupelo Sports Arena: o Williams and Gordy will have a busy few weeks, as Commissioner Armstrong announced that they will do battle with Big John Studd and Superstar Bundy on Halloween night at the Tupelo Sports Arena! This will be a first-time match-up between these two powerhouse teams! o “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan will do battle with “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas. While Sullivan has said that Nick Bockwinkel must battle all the members of the House of Humperdink before he gets Sullivan in the ring, he is willing to battle Bockwinkel’s ally Atlas. Sullivan said that Atlas may be physically strong but that inside he is mentally weak and that Sullivan will use his evil ways to defeat this “fake superhero.” o “Exotic” Adrian Street will have his biggest challenge to-date in the USWA when he faces two-time former USWA Mid-America Heavyweight champion “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay! Finlay was interviewed in the studio and said that he knows Street from World of Sport in the UK. He said that Street may be undefeated now but he will have a fight with a true fighter on Halloween night. He said that he plans to beat up “Exotic” Adrian and then get ready to win back “his” Mid-America title! o A feud that has seen some competitive matches in 2016 will reignite, as “Superstar” Bill Dundee battles Bobby Shane! Dundee has come close to defeating Shane but the Missourian has found a way to win each time, usually with the help of Jimmy Hart and some illegal tactics! Can Dundee finally get the win?
The USWA comes back to the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville with a huge card of action on October 17! • Billy Gunn will do battle with an old rival in Tyler Black! These two had some memorable battles in 2015 and ’16, as part of the New Age Outlaws and the Age of The Fall. Now both men are looking to achieve success in singles competition. Black defeated then-Mid-America champion Fit Finlay by disqualification in a title match in Springfield last month and will be getting another title match in the near future. Gunn has gotten some big singles win in the last few months, namely over House of Humperdink members Larry Zbyszko and Mr. Saito. Can he add Black to that list? • Red Bastien will take on the One Man Gang in a rematch from last month in Evansville. Gang won their first match by disqualification when Bastien used a chair that the Chicago giant tried to use first. Bastien scored an impressive pinfall on Big John Studd last week in Lexington and hopes to have similar success this week. Can he avenge the DQ loss to the Gang? • The Heavenly Bodies were originally scheduled to take on Brian Kendrick and his mystery partner. Due to the injury to Dr. Tom Prichard, now this tag team will feature mystery partners for both Kendrick and Chris Candido! Jim Cornette said on Championship Wrestling that if Kendrick won’t reveal his partner, then he won’t reveal Candido’s substitute partner! Who will the mystery men be? • “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas will collide with Big John Studd in a huge rematch. Atlas defeated Studd in their first meeting at Derby City Stampede. Studd defeated Atlas last month in Evansville when Jimmy Hart tripped Atlas as Atlas attempted to press slam Studd. Who will win this huge “rubber match”? • A huge six-man tag team match will take place. Butcher Vachon will return from injury to team up with his brother Mad Dog and one-half of the World Tag Team champions Billy Black Lyons. The rulebreaking trio will take on the popular trio of Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan! Butcher has been out of action since Independence Day Bash when he suffered a back injury in an attack by his three opponents. More injuries have happened since then, including Williams suffering a knee injury and now the other World Tag Team champion Doctor X suffering a back injury. Which trio will win the next chapter of this war? • Nick Bockwinkel will continue his war with the House of Humperdink when he tangles with Larry Zbyszko! Zbyszko scored a big win over his former Heenan Family ally Bockwinkel in June in Union City, although Bockwinkel was wrestling with an injured neck. Zbyszko joined in with “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan and Mr. Saito to injure Bockwinkel’s neck more after Bockwinkel’s bout with Saito at Independence Day Bash. You can bet that Sullivan and Sir Oliver Humperdink will instruct Zbyszko to target the neck and with Zbyszko specializing in the piledriver, Bockwinkel could be in trouble! • The main event will be a huge rematch for the USWA World Heavyweight title. Current and three-time champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude will defend against former champion and his rival “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant! Rude won his third championship last month from Valiant in Knoxville. After the match, Rude tried to attack Valiant with his flexing bar but Valiant stopped him and then tore Rude’s pectoral with a smash with the bar and three Boogie Woogie elbows. Commissioner Armstrong decided to postpone the championship rematch to ensure Rude was at 100%. Rude’s manager Jimmy Hart spoke about Rude’s condition on Championship Wrestling, saying that the champion is in the best shape of his life and he is going to put an end to “Ugly” Jimmy and his championship dreams once and for all! Will Hart’s words come true or will Valiant win the title for the second time?
All these huge bouts, plus “Exotic” Adrian Street faces Tommy Rogers, as well as the Patriot and Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana in action in “Music City, USA”!

October 17, 2016 Card #485: Municipal Auditorium in Nashville1) Colt Cabana picked up another win in the opener over Virgil. “Boom Boom” largely dominated the action and entertained the “Music City” fans with his unique offense. He executed the Colt .45 a few minutes into the bout and scored the pinfall. DUD 2) The Patriot picked up a win in 25 seconds over Kenny Shane. Patriot came out explosively against the Black Oak, AR native and hit the Uncle Slam to score the quick pinfall. As Patriot got his hand raised by Scott Bowden, “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan and Sir Oliver Humperdink appeared in the upper level of the Municipal Auditorium with a wireless microphone. Sullivan said that on the next USWA card, in two weeks in Tupelo, the Patriot would finally and officially become a member of the House of Humperdink and that the wrestling world would see the truth of his (Sullivan’s) plan! Patriot from the ring denied “The Gamesmaster’s” statements. The masked man quickly tried to get to Sullivan and Humperdink by going through the crowd but Sullivan and Humperdink got out of the auditorium as quickly as they appeared! DUD 3) Billy Gunn defeated Tyler Black by countout in a short but fast-paced match. The two former rivals went right at each other. Gunn tossed Black into the corner and went for a running corner splash. Black avoided the charge and Gunn’s head hit the top turnbuckle. Gunn was dazed and Black followed up with an enzuigiri. He scored a two-count on Gunn in the first 20 seconds of the bout. Black maintained control and hit an impressive fireman’s carry gutbuster for another near fall. Black went up top for the Phoenix Splash but Gunn rolled out of the way and Black crashed hard. Gunn recovered first and hit a jackhammer for a two-count. The two rivals were on their feet slugging it out when Gunn dodged a blow, picked up Black into a press slam, and then tossed him over the top rope and to the arena floor! Bodyguard Luke Harper rushed over to Black’s aid but could not help him in time, as Joe Wheeler’s count hit 10 and Gunn got the victory. Although Gunn was happy to be the winner, you could tell that he was hoping for a more decisive win and perhaps these two will do battle again soon! ** 4) “Exotic” Adrian Street kept up his winning ways with a win over former Mid-America champion Tommy Rogers. Street, as always, was accompanied by Jim Cornette and Cornette’s bodyguard Dan “The Beast” Severn. It was noted that Severn came out wearing his wrestling trunks and a sweatshirt, instead of his usual suit, when he is working for Cornette. (Read the rest of the card recap to find out why!) The two grapplers exchanged holds in the opening minutes. Rogers took control and hit a series of dropkicks for a near fall. Street took over and pummeled Rogers with European uppercuts. He whipped Rogers into the ropes and prepared to send him flying with a back body drop. Unfortunately for the British rocker, he telegraphed the move and Rogers countered with a sunset flip for a very near fall. (Many fans thought Rogers actually got the three but Paul Morton signaled it was indeed a two.) Rogers went for a crossbody block but Street caught him and turned the move into a fireman’s carry and then proceeded to drop Rogers throat-first across the top rope. Street worked over Rogers for several minutes. He hit a body slam and then followed up with a running big splash. He covered Rogers and hooked the tights to score the pinfall after about eight minutes of action. The “Music City” fans indicated they are not fans of Street’s music from his Shake, Wrestle ‘n Roll album as Street, Cornette, and Severn made their way to the back! ***¼ 5) The One Man Gang took a bloody beating but came back to score a pinfall on Red Bastien. Gang was aggressive at the start, charging Bastien and splashing him in the corner. He tossed Bastien out early and body slammed him on the floor. He climbed back in and tried to earn a countout victory but the flying redhead crawled back in by the count of eight. Gang went for the 747 Splash but Bastien rolled out of the way and the Chicago giant crashed hard. Gang got back on the offensive and sent Bastien into the corner. He went for another running corner splash but Bastien moved and Gang’s head hit the metal connector between the turnbuckle and the ring post and he was busted open. Bastien executed a school-boy roll-up but only got a two-count. Bastien took control for several minutes. He went up to the top rope and hit a missile dropkick, knocking down the Halsted Street resident. He covered the bloodied Gang but Sir Oliver Humperdink but his charge’s foot on the bottom rope. Scott Bowden saw the foot but not Humperdink’s involvement but the fans saw it and let their opinions be heard! Bastien sent Gang into the ropes and wound up for a punch but Gang struck first, knocking Bastien down. He picked the former Texas champion up, whipped him into the corner, and delivered another corner splash. He went for a cover but Bastien kicked out. Gang maintained control, hitting a face-first suplex and then followed up with the 747 Splash. He covered Bastien and picked up the victory in a very physical match. **** 6) Next up was the double mystery partner tag team match! Chris Candido entered the ring first, accompanied by Jim Cornette and Dan “The Beast” Severn, still wearing his wrestling gear. Cornette introduced Candido and then said that his mystery partner would be… Dan “The Beast” Severn! Nashville fans were not too surprised, given the bodyguard’s choice of gear tonight. After Gary Michael Cappetta introduced Cornette, Brian Kendrick came out next to his music. He sprinted into the Municipal Auditorium but stopped in the aisleway, leery of an ambush by the three inside the ring. He handed a note to Joe Wheeler, who handed it to Cappetta. Cappetta introduced his partner as hailing from Aberdeen, WA, weighing 210 lbs., a two-time former USWA World Heavyweight champion “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson! The fans erupted at Danielson’s return after a 15-month absence. He entered the arena to a modern version of “Flight of The Valkyries,” which he has been using as his new entrance music in the last year. Since his departure, Danielson wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), where he held the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight championship before losing to the great Jushin “Thunder” Liger in some amazing matches. Danielson also did three MMA fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) where he fought in the light heavyweight division. He won his first two fights and got a shot for the World Light Heavyweight title against Tito Ortiz. (Danielson’s quick title shot was due a lot to his fame in pro wrestling now trying a new sport.) Danielson went all five rounds with Ortiz and lost via judges’ decision. Danielson was the last USWA Texas champion and captured the title from Candido in November 2010 in Ft. Worth Candido and Kendrick started off the match for their respective teams. Candido was aggressive against Kendrick, trying to end the match before Danielson could tag into the bout. He even executed the Blonde Bomb a few minutes into the match but Kendrick managed to kick out at 2¾. Severn tagged in and pummeled Kendrick, outwrestling him and tossing him around the ring. Kendrick cut him off with a boot to the midsection and executed a sunset flip for a near fall. Kendrick made the tag to “Dragon” and the fans went wild at seeing Danielson and Severn, two former USWA World Heavyweight champions and former UFC fighters, in the ring against each other for the first time. Danielson did not back down from his larger foe and attacked him with forearms and kicks. The fans went wild. “The Beast” took Danielson to his and Candido’s corner and Cornette’s men double teamed Danielson. Candido tagged back in and worked over the man who defeated him for the Texas title. He tossed Danielson out of the ring and hit a somersault plancha. Danielson was almost counted out but with Kendrick’s help and the fans’ support, rolled back in by the count of eight. Danielson took over on Severn a few moments later. He tagged back to Kendrick and Kendrick used his fast-paced offense on Severn, a man who has given him and London problems from ringside the last few months. Kendrick hit a huracanrana on Severn for a two-count. Danielson tagged back in and locked Severn in a guillotine choke. Severn was in trouble but Candido quickly jumped in with a kick to Danielson’s head to break up the submission. Severn rolled out of the ring for a breather but Danielson didn’t let him have one, as he nailed him with a suicide dive, driving “The Beast” into the guard railing. Severn was almost counted out but with Candido and Cornette’s help got back in the ring by nine. Severn managed to tag to “The Suicide Blonde” but Danielson was aggressive against him. He got Candido on his knees and blasted him with a series of roundhouse kicks. He went for a pin but Severn made the save. Kendrick tagged back in and hit the Sliced Bread #2 on Candido for a very near fall. Danielson tagged in and went for the guillotine choke again. Cornette jumped up on the ring apron and distracted fellow Louisvillian Joe Wheeler. Severn came into the ring and nailed Danielson with a low blow to break up the hold! The fans berated Severn for his dirty tactics! Danielson fought through the pain and tagged back to Kendrick. Kendrick was cut off by Candido and Candido hit a snap suplex for a near fall. Kendrick nailed Candido with a stiff roundhouse kick a few moments later and busted him open. He tagged back to “Dragon,” who took Candido down to the mat with a Fujiwara armbar and then immediately applied the LeBell Lock. The fans erupted at this! Severn came in the ring but Kendrick cut him off with a jumping heel kick. He stomped away at “The Beast” to keep him from breaking up the submission. A bloody Candido fought for the ropes with Cornette screaming for him but he eventually tapped out to the hold! The fans went wild as Kendrick and Danielson celebrated their big win! (Since Cornette’s return to the USWA in April, this was the first time any one of his charges lost a match via pinfall or submission!) **** 7) “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas scored an impressive win over Big John Studd. Atlas was aggressive against Studd at the start. He executed a vertical suplex on the 363-pounder in the first few minutes, which is how he pinned Studd in their first meeting at Derby City Stampede. He went for a cover but Studd kicked out. Atlas attempted the press slam three times throughout the match but couldn’t get Studd up. Atlas went up to the top rope but Studd got to the corner and slammed him to the mat. Studd hit a backbreaker drop and went for a cover but “Mr. USA” kicked out. Studd went for an elbow drop but Atlas rolled out of the way and crashed hard. Atlas came off the top rope with a jumping head butt to Studd who was standing. Studd got knocked into the ropes and was busted open. Studd cut Atlas off with a clothesline and hit a double underhook suplex for a two-count. Atlas rallied back and finally got Studd up with the press slam. The Nashville fans went wild at this amazing sight! Atlas slammed Studd to the mat and followed up with the splash to score the pinfall. Atlas eyed up Jimmy Hart after the match and indicated he wants World Heavyweight champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude in the ring again! ***¾ 8) One-half of the World Tag Team champions Billy Black Lyons and the Vachons, featuring the returning Butcher Vachon, defeated Steve “Dr. Death” Williams, Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan in an action-packed six-man tag team match. The rulebreakers charged their rivals right away. The Vachons focused on “Dr. Death” and went for a pin in the first 30 seconds but Williams kicked out. Gordy and Lyons were the legal men a few moments later when Gordy hit a Samoan Drop for a near fall. Gordy executed the power bomb a few minutes into the bout and went for a pin but the Vachons rushed in to save Lyons. Mad Dog clipped Gordy’s knee. Lyons recovered first and went for the figure-four leglock but Gordy kicked him off before he could fully apply it. Mad Dog tagged in but Gordy surprised him with a back suplex for a near fall. “Hacksaw” tagged in for the first time in the bout but Butcher rushed him and pummeled on one of the men that injured him. He went for the hangman but Duggan got a foot over the middle rope for a break. Mad Dog tagged back in and the Vachons hit the quadruple foot stomp for a near fall. Mad Dog choked Duggan on the middle rope and then hit the Mad Dog Pounce. Lyons tagged back in and worked over Duggan’s right knee. He went for the figure-four but Duggan managed to pull himself to the ropes for a break. Later in the bout, Williams blasted Lyons with a big clothesline, sending him over the top rope and to the floor. Lyons was almost counted out but with the Vachons’ help got back in by the count of nine. Butcher tagged in but Williams stopped his momentum. “Doc” tagged to “Bamm Bamm” and the fan favorites blasted Butcher with a double football tackle. Butcher tagged to his brother and Mad Dog ambushed Gordy. He hit the piledriver but Duggan made a save. “Hacksaw” tagged in but Mad Dog went after him as well. He bit Duggan and drew blood on the American hero. He setup Duggan for the piledriver but Duggan backdropped him out of the hold. Duggan went up to the second rope for an Old Glory. Mad Dog rolled out of the way and Duggan landed on the right knee. Mad Dog dragged Duggan toward his team’s corner and hit the piledriver but a bloodied Duggan kicked out at the last possible second. Lyons tagged back in and locked Duggan in the figure-four with Lyons’ back to his corner and Duggan in the center of the ring far from the ropes. Williams and Gordy came in for a save but the Vachons cut them off and brawled with them to the floor. Duggan was trapped and perhaps to avoid further injury before his Southern title shot in next week’s main event in Tupelo, tapped out to the hold. It was a big win and a small measure of revenge for Lyons and the Vachons! ****½ 9) Nick Bockwinkel defeated Larry Zbyszko by disqualification in about a minute. Zbyszko charged Bockwinkel as he entered the ring before he could get off his ring jacket. The bell rang to start the match and Zbyszko continued to pummel Bockwinkel. About a minute into the match, Zbyszko grabbed his nunchaku from ringside and smashed Bockwinkel in the back of the neck right in front of Joe Wheeler. Wheeler immediately called for the bell. Zbyszko smacked Bockwinkel twice more with the nunchaku. “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas, recovered from his earlier match, ran out to the ring and chased off Zbyszko and Sir Oliver Humperdink. The rulebreakers quickly retreated and as they got to the entranceway, were met by “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan, who was cackling with delight. It appeared that the House of Humperdink was out to reinjure Bockwinkel’s neck and had no concern about winning the match. Atlas helped Bockwinkel to the back. neg* 10) The main event was a rematch for the USWA World Heavyweight championship. Current and three-time USWA World Heavyweight champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude made his first defense of his third reign against former champion, his long-time rival, and the man he beat for the belt last month in Knoxville—“The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant. In their last meeting, Rude won the title back and then went to hit Valiant with his flexing bar after the bout. Valiant cut him off, used the bar on Rude himself, and then injured his pectoral with three Boogie Woogie elbows. While Valiant was his usual dancing, fun-loving self, he was also a man possessed against Rude. He dominated most of the match. He used the Boogie Woogie elbow five times during the bout but would not go for the pin, as he chose to punish the “Ravishing One” and administer more punishment. He punched away on Rude, busting him open, and then tried to put him out with the sleeper, which is how he won the title from Rude two months ago in Toledo. A bloodied Rude dropped to the mat and Paul Morton went to check his arm. It dropped twice and as it was about to drop for the third time, “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart had snuck into the ring and tried to smash Valiant with the megaphone and cause a disqualification. Morton caught Hart in the act, took the megaphone out of his hands, and then threw it in the aisle! The fans went nuts for this! Knowing the importance of the title main event, rather than disqualify Rude, he ejected Hart from the ringside area for the duration of the match! The fans erupted at this! Valiant released the hold and danced and mocked Hart as he returned to the locker room in protest. Rude recovered and nailed Valiant from behind with a double sledge, knocking him out of the ring. Rude swiveled his hips and then went after the challenger. He pounded on Valiant outside the ring and then tossed him back into the ring. Valiant cut Rude off with some punches as he returned to the ring. He then used a neckbreaker, very similar to Rude’s Rude Awakening, on the champion. He covered Rude and scored the pinfall after nine minutes of action. Morton called for the bell and awarded “Boogie Woogie” his second USWA World Heavyweight championship! As “The Boy From New York City” blared throughout the Municipal Auditorium, he was joined by Nick Bockwinkel, Tony Atlas, Red Bastien, and “Superstar” Bill Dundee (in street clothes) to celebrate regaining the title! *¾

Nice to see Kendrick and Danielson teaming. Rude drops the belt as quickly as he won it. BWM just seems destined for the gold.

Thanks to Troy for the comments!
Highlights from the last two episodes of USWA Championship Wrestling: 10-22: • Footage aired that was recorded in the back at the Municipal Auditorium after last week’s main event. USWA cameras caught up with “Ravishing” Rick Rude immediately after his loss of the USWA World Heavyweight championship. Rude, still bloodied from the match, found manager “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart who had been ejected from ringside for his attempted interference. Rude yelled at Hart blaming him for the loss of the title. Hart tried to apologize but Rude called him a “waste of money”! Hart told Rude that was he fired from the First Family of Wrestling! Rude replied that Hart wasn’t going to fire him but rather that Rude was quitting the First Family! Suddenly, Big John Studd appeared sporting bandages around his head from his blood loss in his own early match on the card. The giant attacked Rude from behind. Superstar Bundy, who was in street clothes, since he was not booked on this card, also joined in and the giants brutalized Rude until several USWA officials and referees broke up the brawl. • Back in the studios, Jimmy Hart was interviewed and verified that Rude was no longer a member of the First Family of Wrestling. He said that the reason Rude held the World title so long was because of his (Hart’s) help and that without him, he was nothing but a glorified stripper! • Commissioner Bob Armstrong announced that Rude will receive a rematch with “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant for the USWA World Heavyweight title. That match will main event the November 14 card at the Mid-South Coliseum, in what will be the USWA’s last card in Memphis for 2016! • Brian Kendrick and “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson were interviewed. Lance Russell welcomed Danielson back to the USWA and asked how long he would be in the area. Danielson said that Kendrick contacted him when he needed help in his feud with the Heavenly Bodies. He said that he was familiar with both Tom Prichard and Chris Candido and since Kendrick and London had helped him in feuds during his first tenure in the USWA, he was happy to return the favor. He said that he will stick around at least until Paul London is healed up from his injury and then reevaluate his plans. He said that there are some wrestlers he would like to face, both in singles matches and tags, and he is always up for a good challenge. • Danielson’s words about wanting a challenge proved true, as Commissioner Armstrong announced later in the show that Danielson and Kendrick have signed to wrestle the Midnight Express on the November 14 card at the Mid-South Coliseum! This should be an exciting tag team match-up!
10-29: • Commissioner Armstrong announced more matches for the November 14 card in Memphis: o Two former tag team partners turned rivals will collide once again, as Red Bastien will face one-half of the World Tag Team champions Billy Black Lyons. Bastien unmasked Double X as Lyons back on February 29. He was willing to forgive Lyons, even offering to reform the Flying Redheads. Lyons refused and has achieved tag team success with Doctor X. o Two of Lyons’ allies will also take on rivals when the Vachons face Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy! This bout will take place one week before Williams and Gordy challenge Lyons and Doctor X for the World Tag Team titles in Bowling Green. You can bet the Vachons are looking not only for a win but also to injure Williams and Gordy before they challenge their allies for the gold! o A match that USWA fans have been waiting for has been made, as Nick Bockwinkel will finally get his hands on “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan. Sullivan made Bockwinkel wrestle all the other members of the House of Humperdink before he would agree to wrestle Bockwinkel. Next week in Tupelo, Bockwinkel will have one more battle (See Card #486 preview below for more details.) but after that, he will finally get his match with Sullivan one-on-one! • The commissioner also announced a huge tag team match that will take place on the November 21 card from Bowling Green High School. World Heavyweight champion “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and “Superstar” Bill Dundee will collide with Big John Studd and Superstar Bundy. Due to the wild nature of their meetings this year, particularly their last meeting last month in Springfield, “Bullet” Bob has decided to make this a No-Disqualification Match!
It’s Halloween night and the USWA is full of tricks and treats when they come back to the Tupelo Sports Arena! • Two rivals will collide once again when “Superstar” Bill Dundee takes on Bobby Shane! In their meetings this year, Dundee has come very close to defeating Shane but the interference of “The Mouth of The South” Jimmy Hart or other illegal tactics have turned the tide in Shane’s favor. Will this finally be Dundee’s night? • “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan is claiming that the Patriot will make his official debut as a member of the House of Humperdink and that he will compete on this card. On the 10-22 edition of Championship Wrestling, Sullivan and Sir Oliver Humperdink had paperwork showing a match that will take place between the Patriot and “The Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz. The Patriot was interviewed the next week and said he signed no contracts or other documents for such a match. He said that while he would like to meet the great Americans in Tupelo, he will not be there, as he does not want to make the fans think that “liar” Sullivan is telling the truth. What sort of tricks does “The Gamesmaster” have in store? What is going on here?! • Two British grapplers will do battle when former Mid-America Heavyweight champion “The Belfast Bruiser” Fit Finlay tangles with the undefeated “Exotic” Adrian Street! These two have battled in the past in World of Sport. Street has shown that he is a very capable wrestler inside the ring but Finlay is disgusted by Street’s ring attire, rock music, and personality. Who will win this battle of the British Iles? • Nick Bockwinkel continues his quest to get to Kevin Sullivan. He is one step away and this week will collide with the Japanese Olympian Mr. Saito! It was after Bockwinkel’s match with Saito at Independence Day Bash at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville, where he was attacked by Saito, Sullivan, and Larry Zbyszko and put out of action. Bockwinkel’s return matches with the One Man Gang and Zbyszko have seen him win by disqualification, as it appears the House of Humperdink members are more concerned about reinjuring Bockwinkel so that he doesn’t get to “The Gamesmaster.” Will the same turn out to be true this week? • In one of the biggest (literally) tag team match-ups in a long time, Steve “Dr. Death” Williams and Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy will collide with Big John Studd and Superstar Bundy! These are four of the strongest men in the USWA today in one ring at the same time. Williams and Gordy are looking ahead to their first shot at the World Tag Team titles in a few weeks in Bowling Green but they cannot look past their giant opponents. In an interview on the 10-29 edition of Championship Wrestling, Jimmy Hart said that with “Ravishing” Rick Rude “off his back,” he can now focus on guiding the rest of the “more talented” members of the First Family of Wrestling to success. He said that Studd and Bundy will stop Williams and Gordy and get back into the Tag Team title picture themselves. Will Hart’s words turn out to be true or can Williams and Gordy knock down their larger foes? • “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan has a lot of involvement in this card, including competing against “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas! It is fitting that the devious Sullivan competes on Halloween night. He is still avoiding Nick Bockwinkel for one more card but agreed to take on one of Bockwinkel’s allies. He called Atlas “mentally weak” and said that he will use his wits and tricks to beat his more powerful opponent. Can Atlas stop the evil Sullivan? • The main event will be for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. Current and two-time champion “Classy” Freddie Blassie will put the title on the line against “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan! Duggan has been on a roll the past month, with big singles victories over the One Man Gang and Mad Dog Vachon. You have to wonder what state his knee is in after submitting to Billy Black Lyons’ figure-four in last week’s six-man tag team match in Nashville. Blassie continues to be a dominant champion, suffering only one loss since debuting in the USWA 16 months ago. As has been documented before, Duggan has challenged for all five USWA championships but has yet to come up with the gold. Will Halloween finally be the night he gets his treat or will “The Vampire” keep his bite on the gold?
All these great matches, as well as a rematch from last week in Nashville between Billy Gunn and Tyler Black. Plus, the Armstrongs and the team of “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson and Brian Kendrick in action. All fans dressed in costumes get half-priced tickets and there will be free candy for all children!

The show from the Municipal Auditorium was just about near perfection. The write was awesome. The back story detailing Danielson’s travels since departing the territory was one of the best things I have seen on the board in some time and then to have Danielson get the submission victory was fantastic. The references to Danielson competing in the octagon clearly set up a future showdown with “The Beast”. Enjoyed the apparent face turn by Rude as well. Not sure that Valiant will retain in the rematch but we will see.
Great action as always!
