INTRO
Last time on PWIS-OHIO: Finlay defeated Johnny Goodtime in a weapons match. Afterward, the two squashed their beef and agreed to stay out of each others business. Finlay and his partner David Taylor are then attacked by Steve Corino and Justin Credible of the Extreme Horsemen. Corino makes it clear that it’s the Horsemen who run things in OHIO. 2 Cold Scorpio once again falls victim to the numbers game of the Extreme Horsemen during his match with C.W. Anderson. Ricky Landell received a title match against Mid-Western Champion Robert Anthony. When the Extreme Horsemen looked to use their gang tactics to help Landell, Commissioner Al Snow intervened and barred them from ringside and Landell ended up losing.
(Joe Dembrowski is calling the action)
The anticipation of tonight’s OHIO crowd is palpable. This leads to a great reaction as the show opens with a surprise appearance: coming through the curtain is lucha legend Konnan. He is accompanied by a buxom woman and the pair come down to the ring. Cane in one hand, microphone in the other, Konnan speaks to the crowd.
“Odalay! (big crowd pop) How’s everyone doing here in Cleveland? (another pop) I’m sure everyone here knows who I am but for those who don’t, my name is Konnan. And this is my lovely companion, Olivia. (some whistles and cat calls) You might be wondering why I’m here. I can tell you right now, I’m not here to wrestle… (some boos) I’ve seen what’s been going on around here and I have to say that it’s been wild. It’s been out of control. Things are happening that aren’t cool and nobody's doing anything about it. I’m talking about these Extreme Horsemen. Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking and it’s true - I’ve done some bad things in my career. At times I was a real SOB. But see, now I’m trying to make up for it. I love wrestling and it’s given me a lot. But guys like these Extreme Horsemen are just taking and as my way of giving back, I want to stop the taking. But as I said, I’m not here to fight. My body isn’t what it used to be. But my mind… My mind is better that ever. And that’s what I’m going to use to help those who can fight. Guys like 2 Cold Scorpio. (cheers) Scorpio! Come out here, homie!”
After a moment, Scorpio appears through the curtain with a questioning look on his face. He listens skeptically.
“I know, holmes, you don’t trust me. And I if I was you, I wouldn’t either. But I’m going to show you that I’m on your side. You see, I’ve brought someone with me. Someone who’s always fought the good fight. If you’re willing, we’ll join you tonight and challenge these Horsemen to a fair fight. You’ve been standing alone, holmes. You don’t need to do that any longer.”
Scorpio is unsure and looks to the crowd. The fans urge him to accept Konnan’s offer. He scrutinizes the newcomers then nods resolutely and walks back through the curtain. Konnan smiles with satisfaction and he and Olivia depart.
JOE: “I’m as stunned as you are, fans! The legendary Konnan is here in PWIS! Things are getting interesting!”
MATCH #1
Finlay vs. Justin Credible
JOE: “It’s Shillelagh versus Singapore Cane after the the Extreme Horsemen attacked the rugged Irishman and his partner Dave Taylor.”
At the bell, Finlay charges Justin and spears him in the corner. A few clotheslines soften Justin up for Rolling Hills and a near fall. Finlay makes the mistake of going to the top turnbuckle as Credible cuts his legs out from under him, sending Finlay toppling to the apron then to the floor. Justin lands some hard blows and goes for the cover after a short power bomb but Finlay kicks out. Steve Corino comes to ringside and distracts the referee, allowing Justin to crack Finlay in the head with his Singapore Cane. Credible and Corino are both flabbergasted when Finlay kicks out of the pin attempt. They repeat the Singapore Cane scenario and Finlay still won’t stay down. With a burst of energy, Justin flips Finlay up into position for That’s Incredible and the pinfall is counted.
JOE: “I think before this is all said and done, Justin Credible is going to have to answer for using that cane. And Finlay has a gnarled piece of oak to get the job done.”
Winner: Justin Credible
MATCH #2
Angel Orsini vs. Sumie Sakai
JOE: “Now we showcase the ladies of Empowered.”
The women shake before things get under way. Angel controls the opening moments with her strength advantage but Sumie evades a charge in the corner and gets a near fall with a roll up. Sumie goes high risk and lands a Moonsault for another near fall. A second Moonsault puts Sumie in perfect pinning position and she gets the three count.
JOE: “Be sure to be with us this Friday for an entire show of Empowered action!”
Winner: Sumie Sakai
MATCH #3
CLEVELAND STREET FIGHT
Steve Corino vs. David Taylor
Both men come to the ring in street clothes and taped fists. Corino stalls getting into the ring and gets the jump on Taylor as the ref gets him to stand back. Steve unleashes some vicious strikes but Dave won’t buckle until Steve puts him down with a couple of powerslams. Corino drags his opponent out of the ring and ends up body slamming him on one of the merch tables set up along the wall. Steve pulls Dave around the arena but the staggered Taylor uses his British Suplex to slam Corino through the back door to the parking lot. Taylor goes for the cover on the concrete and Corino kicks out at two. Back in the arena, Taylor suplexes Steve onto a hastily abandoned chair and gets another two count. Dave pounds Corino around the arena where they end up in the dressing room area. Taylor power bombs Steve on the floor and covers him but there is barely a count before the kick out. The pair come back into the arena and Corino turns the tide by giving Taylor a body slam on the entrance ramp. Steve pulls Dave back into the ring and gets a chair, bringing it down across Taylor’s back. A couple of superkicks by Corino put Dave down but he rolls out of the way of an elbow drop. Taylor makes a comeback and Steve tries to escape but Dave catches him and gives him a British Suplex on the ramp, pinning him.
Winner: David Taylor
Intermission: Backstage, newest PWIS roster member Adam Cole is warming up. Ethan Page and Seleziya Sparx approach him.
ETHAN: “Hey-ey! It’s Adam Cole! Mr. ROH big shot! Slumming it with us working wrestlers. Well, guess what?”
There is an awkward pause as Page expectantly leans in, waiting for Cole to answer. Cole seems to not know what to say.
ADAM: “What?”
ETHAN: “No. Guess.”
ADAM: “Look, I…”
ETHAN: “NOBODY CARES WHAT YOUR GUESS IS!!! Normally I leave my light work to Seleziya but she would probably just screw it up. (Seleziya sneers at Page) So I guess I’ll just take care of you myself. See you out there, champ.”
Cole silently watches as the couple leave.
All four members of the Extreme Horsemen come down to the ring. Steve Corino visibly sore from his match. 2 Cold Scorpio is introduced and he comes down to ringside alone. The Horsemen are chomping at the bit to get their hands on him and he warily looks over his shoulder for Konnan’s expected assistance. Corino yells to Scorpio: “No one’s coming, dummy! You got played.”
After long moments of anticipation, Konnan and Olivia come out. The Horsemen reevaluate their stance and Corino takes the mic. “Konnan, you’re making a big mistake getting in our way, old man!”
Konnan nods slightly then waits for the ring announcer to introduce Scorpio’s partner for the night. His name is announced as he bursts through the curtain - Marty Jannetty! The fans go wild and the Horsemen are unsettled.
JOE: “What is going on here tonight? First Konnan, now one of the famous Rockers, Marty Jannetty!”
MATCH #4
2 Cold Scorpio & Marty Jannetty w/Konnan & Olivia vs. Ricky Landell & C.W. Anderson w/Extreme Horsemen
Jannetty starts out for his team and neither Landell or Anderson seem too anxious to start for their team but Ricky has the honors. In a shocking turn of events, Landell reverses Marty’s opening arm drag with a hip toss neckbreaker and hooks a leg for the pin. Jannetty struggles to kick out but the crafty Landell grabs a handful of tights and cinches the cradle in for a three count. The Horsemen get out of the ring and bust up laughing. Konnan looks bemused by what just transpired. The crestfallen fans boo and Marty, on his knees, hangs his head.
Winners: Ricky Landell & C.W. Anderson
MATCH #5
Adam Cole vs. Ethan Page
JOE: “Adam Cole makes his PWIS debut right here in OHIO.”
The fans give a big round of applause for Cole’s entrance as Page tells them they are wasting their breath. Cole and Page jockey for position and Ethan strikes first with a superkick that drops his opponent. Page tosses Cole to the floor but Adam ducks a clothesline and Ethan’s arm hits the post. Cole hits a suicide dive but Page avoids a diving splash to go back on top. The pair exchange some offense then Cole wraps Page up with a Florida Key for a two count. Cole misses a jump from the high rent district and Page tried to capitalize with a Headshot Cutter but only got two. Soon, another Headshot Cutter proves to be enough. Page spoils Cole’s debut and mocks him with exaggerated laughter.
JOE: “Ethan Page showing his customary lack of sportsmanship.”
Winner: Ethan Page
MAIN EVENT
PWIS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Arik Royal & Erick Stevens(c) vs. The Street Samurai
JOE: “The Street Samurai haven’t been very active lately but their recent 4-Way Elimination win in PA earned them this title match.”
The early offense goes back and forth between Erick Stevens and Johnny Kashmere. Kashmere pulls off a sunset flip powerbomb and tags in Dustin Lee. The one-time tag team champions hoist Stevens up for the T-Gimmick and Dustin goes for the cover. Erick kicks out with authority. Lee and Stevens go to the floor where Dustin is introduced to the ring post. Lee fights back and hits a cross body from the top rope that once again sees Stevens kick out with ease. Stevens tries a comeback against kashmere but Johnny tags out to keep his teams momentum going. Royal finally tags in, on fire, and powerbombs Lee hard to the mat. Lee powders and Arik follows and a wild brawl erupts between the two. Chairs and the barricade come into play and, having lost control, the referee throws the match out. The fans aren’t happy and, as cooler heads prevail, both teams insist on a rematch.
DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION
AFTERMATH
Dressing Room Area
Finlay and Taylor are comparing notes about their matches on the night. They pause to see Konnan approach.
KONNAN: “Gentlemen, you are two formidable dudes. It seems we have a common enemy. I would like to have a talk.”
FINLAY: “You stay out of our business, Konnan. We’ve got this handled.”
Finlay raises his Shillelagh and Konnan puts his hands up in compliance and backs away.
The Extreme Horsemen are still finding amusement in how they got one over on their opponents tonight.
STEVE: “Ha, ha, ha! Did you see Konnan’s face out there? Priceless! That was a slick pin Ricky.”
RICKY: “I learned from the best.”
STEVE: “We-elll…”
JUSTIN: “That may have been an easy win but those guys aren’t gonna quit that easy.”
STEVE: “Relax, PJ. Everything’s under control. You and C.W. worry about those limeys. Rickey and I will take care of gimpy Konnan and gimpy Marty. And, as usual, Scorpio’s too dumb to be concerned with.”
C.W.: (throws up four fingers) “Horsemen!”
REST: “Horsemen!”
