WAR! ENGAGEMENT - VOLUME 1 - SATURDAY 7/26/14
In a darkened Hara Arena, an electronic voice asks "WAR! is upon us. Do you wish to engage?"
As air raid sirens go off and "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" echoes throughout Hara Arena, a crowd of about 2500 or so chants "We Declare WAR!"
Welcome to the premiere of WAR! Engagement on The Fight Network. WAR! General Manager Bill Watts is in the center of the ring. He welcomes all the great WAR!RIORS! to Hara Arena. Bill says there's a new day dawning in wrestling, because we're going back to the old days, when it was two men got into the ring and fought to see who was gonna win. Bill says there's fighters from all over the world as well as the galaxy here, the first set of matchups has been set and we're ready to hook 'em up!
Bill reads the rules, which he entitles "WAR!'s Rules Of Engagement" - Non-title fights: 15 minutes - Title fights: 25 minutes - You win by pinfall, submission, knockout, countout, or DQ. - You lose five in a row or your ability to draw fans, you lose your spot on the main roster (I will be using Graymar's draw system to help track this - Thanks Graymar!)
And hook 'em up we will as we debut the Crossfire division.
CHUCK TAYLOR VS GEORGE HACKENSCHMIDT After a missed turnbuckle charge by Taylor early in the bout, it was a quick and brutal victory by Hackenschmidt with a series of bear hugs to end the match at 2:07 - *1/2
US MALE VS HARLEY RACE An even match in the early going, until US sent Harley out of the ring. He would win the better of that brawl, but when he tried again, he was shellacked with a chair by Race. A back suplex later, Harley won the match. Time of the match 3:24 - **
KONNAN VS STEVE WILLIAMS A stunning upset of Steve Williams by Konnan as he shakes off two backdrop drivers and reverses a sunset flip attempt for a pin at 2:48 - *1/2
GORDO VS PATCH What was supposed to be a war between two of the galaxy's best street fighters was anything but a war, as Gordo exploded all over Patch at the opening bell, hitting him with a VIOLENT power slam, a Texas Sized Drop, and a Lone Star Lariat in near rapid succession to win in a WAR! record 1:02 - *1/2
ANTONIO INOKI VS ROB VAN DAM Inoki never let RVD get going, tying him up at the opening bell with the Cobra Twist, keeping him grounded, and scoring effectively with strikes and submission holds, resulting in a win with the Enzuigiri at 3:22 - **1/2
LOU THESZ VS BUDDY ROGERS Great back and forth match that lived up to expectations. Buddy controlled the early going, scoring three pin attempts before Lou took over with a kneelift in the corner. Lou scored three pin attempts of his own before Buddy took over again. Buddy sent Lou outside the ring where Lou bettered him in a brawl. Back in the ring, Lou threw Buddy out and mashed him with a flying bodypress that nearly got Buddy counted out. He would beat the count back in, then Lou flattened him with a Thesz Press and score the pinfall at 7:23 - ****
ULTRAMANTIS BLACK VS DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE Another great back and forth match won by DDP on a Jaw Breaker to a Diamond Cutter in 6:20
TURSAS VS THE PERFECT SPECIMEN Specimen dominated nearly the entire match with amazing speed and agility, for the most part avoiding the power game of Tursas. In an incredible display of strength, Tursas escaped Pinnacle Of Success and nearly stole the match with a second rope diving cross body block. Specimen barely kicked out and Tursas began tossing Specimen outside the ring multiple times. Specimen would eventually regain his footing and resume his attack, finally catching Tursas with another Pinnacle Of Success and scoring the victory in 9:28 - ***1/2
Rankings are compiled as follows: - Points for victories (From 10 points down to 1 point based on quickness of victory - If win is by DQ subtract two points - No less than 1 point given for a win, O points for loss of any kind) - W-L Record - Graymar's draw system
After one week of competition heres the Top 10 in Crossfire Gordo George Hackenschmidt Konnan Antonio Inoki Harley Race Lou Thesz Diamond Dallas Page The Perfect Specimen Buddy Rogers Tursas
Bill Watts comes out and asks if everyone is enjoying the action. Big crowd pop. Bill says he's made a change of plans, and that King Of The Streets has now become King Of The Cage. A caged ring is lowered from the ceiling as Bill speaks. He says he will draw two names and they will fight to be the first King Of The Cage champion. Anyone who is injured or already on one of the two rosters is not eligible. The winner will become the first King Of The Cage and will defend the title against a randomly drawn challenger every week. Bill reaches into the hopper and the first two names he draws are
CHAOS SUPREME and JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER
Win is by Pinfall or Submission Cage can be used as a weapon One fall to a finish
Bill says Get In There And Hook "Em Up, Boys! and here we go
KING OF THE CAGE CHAMPIONSHIP - CHAOS SUPREME VS JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER Chaos dominated the cage for the most part, controlling Liger with strikes and throws. Liger managed to hit some kicks and went for a submission which went to a stalemate. Upon restart by the referee, Liger took control and tried scoring victory with a surfboard. Chaos escaped and began hitting Bow Of Defeat over and over, eventually scoring the victory at 5:59. Chaos Supreme is your first King Of The Cage - **1/2
Great match that could have gone either way. Chaos took command and took the match
It's now time to bring you the Battleground division
KILLER KOWALSKI VS JIMMY SNUKA Kowalski gets the better of a ringside brawl by smashing Snuka into a table, then manages to sink in the Claw for the win at 3:51
OX BAKER VS NICK BOCKWINKEL Two of wrestling's greatest heels came together in what wasn't a bad match. Bockwinkel controlled the first portion and even had Ox in trouble outside the ring. Ox took over and had Bockwinkel reeling with brawling tactics, until Nick sent him into the ringpost. From that point, Nick attacked the body with leglocks and stretches, finally sinking in the Bockwinkel Sleeper for the win at 8:06
VIDTEK VS RICK RUDE Rude dominates and wins with the Rude Awakening in 6:48
BRUTE VS EXECUTIONER These two former allies had a knock-down drag out war, which was expected given their styles. After the second out of the ring brawl, they were both DQ'd for ignoring referee's instructions at 5:32
CROSSFIRE VS HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN Match started out fairly even with holds and counters and neither fighter gaining an advantage. Hacksaw reversed an attempted knee lift into a takedown, then hit a piledriver and two successive spears. He could not hold Crossfire down either time. Crossfire dragged Duggan outside the ring and sent him headfirst into the ringpost, opening a deep cut on his head. After Duggan kicked out of the Bow & Arrow, Crossfire went to the top rope, but an enraged and bloody Duggan speared him on the way down, not only bloodying his mouth but causing a deep cut on the top of Crossfire's head from a sharp edge on the turnbuckle. By now there was blood all over the ring and both fighters. Duggan would hit two more spears and claim bloody victory at 4:41. Both fighters needed medical attention after the match.
There was a short intermission to replace the ring mat due to the amount of blood loss in the previous match. As this was going on, Bill Watts came out and annouced that next week, the ladies would have their own trophy to shoot for, as two women would be chosen to fight for the women's Battle Arts title, a match that could only be won by knockout or submission. This got a pop from the crowd. At this point we were ready for the next match.
VAL VENIS VS BRUISER BRODY Venis started off by flustering a charging Brody with drop toeholds. After Bruiser dodged one, Venis ate a hard boot to the face, and from that point on, Bruiser was pretty much in control, winning with a running legdrop in 7:02
IRON SHEIK VS WOLF A brawl from beginning to end, with neither fighter ever gaining a real advantage. Sheik is DQ'd for putting Wolf thru a table with a belly to belly suplex outside the ring. Wolf shook it off and ran Sheik back to the locker room. Time of the match 3:40
BRODIE LEE VS BUFF BAGWELL Brodie dominates throughout and wins with the Big Boot at 3:57
After one week of competition here's the Top 10 in Battleground
Killer Kowalski Brodie Lee Hacksaw Jim Duggan Rick Rude Bruiser Brody Wolf Nick Bockwinkel Vidtek Brute Crossfire
And that does it for WAR! Engagement - Volume 1 from Dayton's Hara Arena Tonight's Attendance - 2144 TV Rating - 2.9
We'll see you next week!

We are live once again at Dayton's Hara Arena for another action-packed edition of WAR! Engagement. Another nice crowd is expected tonight for the TV Taping on The Fight Network. We're going to start with some kickoff matches to get the crowd hyped before the TV Taping kicks off, so here we go.
CROSSFIRE US MALE VS ULTRAMANTIS BLACK
US Male came out dominating Black from pillar to post and scoring five pin attempts, but was unable to keep Black down. UB came back by tossing USM off the top turnbuckle and beginning an offense of his own. The action goes outside where USM is disqualified for suplexing UM through a table. USM attacked UB after the match, but UB fought back, dropped USM with a kick, then hit the Praying Mantis Bomb outside the ring, leaving USM laying - Time 5:46

CHUCK TAYLOR VS STEVE WILLIAMS Steve Williams scores the win at 5:10 with the Oklahoma Stampede
BATTLEGROUND BRUTE VS EXECUTIONER This match started out like last week's match; a lot of brawling and no one getting an advantage. Executioner then switched gears and began wearing Brute down with dropkicks and nerve and limb holds. It worked for a while. Executioner then tried a flying bodypress, only for Brute to move and watch him crash and burn. Brute nearly took his head off with the Decapitator, which he barely kicked out of. After an Atomic Skullcrusher and a second Decapitator, Brute scores the win at 8:05
VAL VENIS VS BUFF BAGWELL Evenly fought match up until the last two minutes, when Venis sent Bagwell into the safety rail outside the ring. Back in the ring, Venis then scored a suplex on a hurt Bagwell, then threw him out of the ring and flattened him on the floor with a bodypress. Bagwell was counted out of the ring at 5:37 and the match awarded to Venis
JIMMY SNUKA VS OX BAKER Snuka took early control with agility moves and a piledriver. The action went out of the ring, where Ox gained control with a guardrail whip. After coming back into the ring, a backbreaker and a Heart Punch won it for Ox at 2:14
