Royal Rumble PPV live notes January 25, 2015 Philadelphia, Pa.
- From correspondent Barjinder Parhar: After the Royal Rumble concluded, many fans gathered in the Wells Fargo Center parking lot to prevent wrestlers from leaving out of anger for how the Royal Rumble ended. People packed the parking lot and would not let wrestlers through.
But, by 12:15 a.m. EST, I saw Rumble winner Roman Reigns in the distance and he managed to make it out. For a while, there was no going in or out without massive heckling and boos. People were livid.
Also, The Usos were very angry. One of them got out of the car and went off on a group of people. I think they were defending Reigns verbally by going at the fans.
- WWE returns to Philadelphia for a house show on Friday, July 10. A pre-sale started after the Royal Rumble with code WWELIVE. [ Thanks to Mike Omansky. ]

Wow... If this is true, that's gotta send one hell of a message to those in charge. The fans have already chosen the face of the company, and they will turn on anyone else that the WWE tries to push.

I do not think the fans will turn on anyone else that WWE tries to push. In my opinion the fans would be okay with Dolph Ziggler or Dean Ambrose, too.

True, but apparently, it isn't Reigns.

Reigns is definitely not going to work. What the WWE is going to do about it is the real question.

I am not a huge Roman Reigns fan, but there is a dichotomy here with modern day wrestling and its fans. People say they hate the predictability of certain ppvs and storylines, but when something out of the expected happens (ie Daniel Bryan getting eliminated, Undertaker getting pinned), then people turn on the product on a dime and cancel their subscriptions etc, (even though more than half of those people will re-subscribe at one point).
Case in point, I would have enjoyed seeing Rusev win the the rumble, it would have been different. But then people would complain that they don't want to see a Lesnar-Rusev match. I think the worst thing that has happened to the Rumble in its history is that it guarantees a title shot at Wrestlemania, which I think forces booking decisions to be way too narrow for the outcome. I think the WWE would be far better off , developing several top stars of similarly equal status (like the Attitude era) so the that the Rumble isn't a guarantee one or two person show. By putting their eggs in Reign's basket, they are denying the Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan, Bray Wyatt and others to raise their status so you have those multiple superstars like the Attitude era had, which allows way more flexibility in the booking.

At the end of the Rumble I was left with two thoughts:
1. When it was down to Reigns/Show/Kane, I was confident I could turn it off and know the outcome. It should never be that way. The Rusev swerve probably didn't fool anyone either. I suspect they consciously threw the Rock in at the end to 'make up' for the predictable outcome.
2. I kinda feel bad for Reigns. What should have been a big moment for him turned into thousands of people crapping on him. It's not his fault he is being forced down people's throats. It should have be Daniel Bryan this year and maybe Reigns next.

I believe Reigns has had only 1 PPV singles match before winning the Rumble. Being the first guy to get a win over Rusev at mania would have been a good spot for him.
Theres only 2 guys who blow the roof off of every area when they show up right now - Lesnar and Bryan. Nothing wrong with listening to your fans. FG does it.
Im really interested to see RAW tonight...WWE can't have angry fans forcing the wrestlers from leaving arenas. Those are very very dangerous waters they're headed in and it needs to be cut off now.

I agree with Swarm. Lesnar and Daniel Bryan are the 2 most "over" wrestlers on the roster. Add in the fact that Lesnar has the belt that Bryan never lost. If that's not a ready made Wrestlemania main event, I don't know what is. But then again, what do I know, right? I'm just a guy who subscribes to your network, watches your program and buys your merchandise. No chance I might have a clue as to what works and what doesn't. While I don't condone nor recommend taking it out on the wrestlers, I like that people are taking a stand, especially when WWE continues to claim it listens to it's fans and knows what's best for business. And I for one will not accept being thrown a bone by Daniel Bryan being "added" to the main event of Wrestle mania. Oh wait, I already did that last year...
