I really enjoyed watching EVOLVE 62 last night. Interesting turn involving Chris Hero and possibly also Cody Rhodes (but I think Cody Rhodes wrestles Hero in his EVOLVE debut in August.) Less than 7 hours to go until EVOLVE 63- a big night opportunity for Tony Nese and I am wondering who will accept Ethan Carter III's open contract tonight? WWN & EVOLVE Wrestling present EVOLVE 63 Saturday, June 11th, 2016 Bell Time - 8 PM Orlando, FL
WWE Cruiserweight Flashpoint - A Prelude To The Tournament Elimination Match: Johnny Gargano vs. Drew Gulak vs. TJP with Stokely Hathaway vs. Lince Dorado vs Tony Nese (if Nese wins, he is in the tournament)
Anything Goes Drew Galloway vs. Ethan Page
Non-Sanctioned Ethan Carter III has an open contract to fight any member of the EVOLVE roster!
Title Match EVOLVE Champion Timothy Thatcher vs. Tracy Williams
Special Challenge Match #1 Matt Riddle vs. Trevor Lee
Special Challenge Match #2 Fred Yehi vs. Cedric Alexander
Tag Team Attraction The Bravado Brothers vs. Jason Cade & Darby AllinI'm not sure if he'll face Hero with them announcing Gargano vs. Rhodes and Gargano tweeted this image... Either way, things have been a blast with EVOLVE and we have more action later tonight... yeah, you are correct. I forgot about that announcement and I didn't know about the tweet (I don't use Twitter.) so perhaps instead it will be BOLA where Rhodes wrestles Hero (and possibly some others like Trevor Lee and the Young Bucks on his list?)

A pretty fun EVOLVE 63 with the opening match between Fred Yehi and Cederic Alexander being really good, plus the WWE Cruiserweight Classic Flashpoint was pretty good. It's good once again to see Timothy Thatcher have a top match and it was also a top match for Tracy Williams. The end match was good and there was a funny spot with Brandon Tolle, so it was another good show in my book...

If you haven't seen it, this is what Gabe Sapolsky said about Matt Riddle after the EVOLVE shows last weekend:
"I'm going to peel back the curtain now. It's not something I'm a fan of doing, but I have to in order to convey how I feel about Matt Riddle.
When I heard about Matt in the Fall last year, I was intrigued because of his UFC background. We gave him a shot. I figured if he wasn't up to the level of EVOLVE, at the worst case scenario we give him a couple of weekends worth of wins and then have Timothy Thatcher beat him in an EVOLVE Title defense. I liked the idea of Thatcher getting credibility by beating the UFC guy that is undefeated.
He was booked very carefully in his first weekend. In fact, he was booked just about as carefully as we ever booked anyone. He was given two opponents proficient in mat wrestling/grappling in Jonathan Gresham and Chris Dickinson. The matches were kept very short with very few spots. The idea was just let them wrestle a little on the mat and go to the quick submission finish. Keep it simple and easy.
The next weekend we played it safe by putting Riddle against Drew Gulak and Tracy Williams, two highly skilled opponents he could train with before the weekend and work out two matches that were a little more complex, but still relatively short and simple.
This is how you protect a "green" talent in the booking.
Last weekend was the opposite of "protecting" a talent. Last weekend at EVOLVE 62 and EVOLVE 63, we put Matt Riddle against Cedric Alexander and Trevor Lee.
Alexander and Lee are two exciting, great talents who do a lot of stuff in their matches. My instructions were simple. Go out there for about 12-15 minutes and steal the show. That was it.
Matt Riddle, with less than 75 pro wrestling matches under his belt, went toe-to-toe with these two indie style standouts and matched them move-for-move. There was no protecting him. No keeping it simple. No safeguards.
There has never been anyone as good as Matt Riddle with as little experience as he has. Never. Ever.
We are all watching a special talent grow and develop before our eyes. We are on this ride together and it's only going to get more wild and exciting. I hope you are all enjoying it as much as I am.
Matt Riddle has arrived. A star is born.
There's no playing it safe anymore."

It is still early in his career, but it's been fun watching him both in the ring and on the microphone. In my EVOLVE Wrestling fed, Riddle will debut before my 8th game year for EVOLVE and I can't wait to see how he does for me...

Very cool about the development of Matt Riddle. I am looking forward to seeing him in person for the first time on July 10th at Tier 1.

I've only seen a couple of Matt Riddle matches and he's already one of my favorites.

I've only seen a couple of Matt Riddle matches and he's already one of my favorites. I'm a fan too and as someone here wrote, Riddle looks like a Von Erich and I agree. I've brought him into my EVOLVE Wrestling and every new year I reboot my rankings and records to either the last 3 or 4 matches, this way the wrestlers have a greater chance of being in my Top 6. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next round of EVOLVE iPPV broadcasts...
