FPW – Friday Night Fist Pump
Oh! Have we got some right royal action for you!
Opening the show tonight, struggling tag wrestler Matt Jackson takes on kids’ favourite Battle Kat. Battle Kat jives to the ring in a purple cape that seems to be made of the same foil as an Easter Egg wrapper. Jackson ridicules his opponent, but he ends up looking the fool as he misses two moonsaults in a row, giving Kat the opportunity he needs. Battle Kat ties Jackson up in the Kat’s Cradle and it’s all over. Jackson rolls out of the ring immediately, grimacing in pain and in shame.
Winner: Battle Kat
Since arriving in FPW, the Dibiase Dynasty have had their eyes on Snowdoon’s FPW Tag Team Championship. After back-and-forth wins for each team in recent weeks, Al Snow is looking to quash any thoughts the Dibiases have of challenging for the title, as he faces Ted Dibiase. It’s an even match with plenty of counters and reversals. Dibiase goes to put on his loaded glove but he has trouble getting it on properly in the heat of the moment. As Dibiase fumbles with the glove, Snow capitalises, hitting the Snow Plow to pick up the victory.
Winner: Al Snow
Snow leaps out of the ring to celebrate with his tag team partner, William Muldoon, and their manager, Head. As Snow and Head make their way jubilantly up the ramp with Muldoon striding behind, Ted and Iron Mike Dibiase can be seen at ringside, angrily plotting their next move…
Two more tag teams hoping to gain (or re-gain) championship gold are in singles action next. First up, one half of Two-Time Tag Team Champions, The Chests, Bob Armstrong will face B. Brian Blair of The Killer Bees. Then, Armstrong’s partner Mike Graham will take on Killer Bee Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell.
Bob Armstrong stares at B. Brian Blair, both a rival in the tag team division and a rival for the friendship of Mike Graham. Armstrong mutters something across the ring to Blair. “Pardon, Bob?”, says Blair, and as he steps closer to hear, Armstrong strikes with a flurry of devastating karate chops. Armstrong grabs the shocked Blair in a headlock and yells, “I said, you’re a chestless WIMP! Hahaha!” Blair struggles and eventually slips out from Armstrong’s oiled arms to launch a flying cross body. The two trade holds in a messy scuffle and eventually Blair comes out on top. Trapped in a sleeper hold, Bob makes eye contact with Mike Graham at ringside, hoping his partner will intervene. Mike Graham looks torn between his partner, Armstrong, and his lifelong friend, Blair. His hesitation is too much and a desperate Armstrong is forced to tap.
Winner: B. Brian Blair
Pumped up and red in the face, Mike Graham jumps into the ring and Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell offers him a handshake. Graham snubs the friendly gesture and instead motions to his waist, where the Tag Team Championship belt used to sit. Brunzell goes to lock up, but Graham slips around him and takes him down to the canvas. Brunzell hits the mat face first, hard. The camera zooms in to see Graham grinding Brunzell’s face into the canvas with his shin. Brunzell struggles to get up but Graham rides him, slapping the back of his head for good measure. “I’ll teach you some respect, boy!”, screams Graham. Mike Graham gets to his feet and Brunzell gets a moment of relief before Graham motions to the crowd that he’s going for his finisher, the Figure Four Leglock. The audience reaction is huge! Graham slaps on the hold, yelling “Ask ‘im! Ask ‘im!”. Brunzell nods weakly to give up and the ref calls for the bell.
Winner: Mike Graham
The Chests’ music pumps out loudly as Bob Armstrong joins his partner in the ring for a double chest bump and some celebratory flexing. As The Killer Bees head for the ramp, B. Brian. whispers, “See you for golf tomorrow, Mike.”

And now time for our special event:
FPW Monarch of the Mat Tournament
Round 1
Jushin Thunder Liger defeats Brian Kendrick by DQ, after Kendrick’s associate Giant Bernard invades the ring and attacks Liger.
Frank Dalton defeats Rusty Brooks with the Atomic Drop, in a 2 minute squash.
Flyin’ Fred Curry defeats Bruiser ‘The Body’ Costa with a series of Machine Gun Dropkicks.
Ox Baker defeats Larry Sharpe with a Backbreaker; Mr X interferes and hits the Bigger Elbow on Baker but Baker brushes him off like a fly.
Round 2
Ox Baker quickly defeats Jushin Thunder Liger with a Heart Punch – the earlier beatdown by Giant Bernard had taken its toll on Liger.
Frank Dalton defeats Flyin’ Fred Curry with an Atomic Drop.
Final
Ox Baker and Frank Dalton square up to each other. The Daltonettes, Peaches and Pearl, are at ringside to support Frank Dalton in his bid to become FPW’s first Monarch of the Mat. Ox Baker leers at Pearl and she spits at him. Baker’s leer turns to rage and the match gets off to a brutal start. The two brawl back and forth, trading brutal stomps and savage chokes. Baker delivers a shoulder breaker that has Dalton writing on the canvas in agony. Dalton mounts a comeback, then a nasty headbutt busts Dalton open. Dalton shoves Baker out of the ring and while the referee checks Dalton’s bloodied face, the Daltonettes launch a vicious stiletto attack on Baker at ringside. They roll Baker back in the ring and he staggers to his feet. Dalton, his face crimson with blood, hoists Baker up for the Atomic Drop, roaring with the pain in his injured shoulder. He drops Baker and covers him… everything goes into slow motion. The referee’s hand comes down on the mat. One. Peaches and Pearl are banging on the apron, their wild hair thrashing about. Two. “Frrraaaaannnkkiiieee!!!” they scream. Three. The bell rings – Frank Dalton has won! Dalton is the Monarch of the Mat! Dalton raises his head and peers through the blood and sweat. Peaches and Pearl rush into the ring and help him to his feet as the ref raises his hand in victory. Gold confetti falls from the ceiling and the crowd goes wild!
Peaches tosses her cigarette butt on the prone body of Ox Baker.

As the audience files out of the building, buzzing with this evening’ events, Larry Sharpe and Mr X are packing up the merchandise stand. Larry sighs. “What’s the matter, mate?”, enquires Mr X. “I don’t know where my career’s going,” says Larry, sadly. “I used to be the New Nature Boy, I had a robe and everything. Now look at me, I was dumped out in the first round of the Monarch of the Mat tournament.” Mr X puts an arm round his friend, “Is there anything I can do to help?” Larry shakes his head, “I don’t know. I just want a push! I want a match higher up the card, wrestling someone meaningful, someone really big!” Mr X smiles, “I’ll have a word with management and see what I can do. Someone really big, you say? I’ve got just the guy in mind!”
Please join us next week for more hot action, including Frank Dalton's coronation as Monarch of the Mat!
