Card 651 – Canopus Civic Coliseum:Tag champs, Sam’s Squadron, lose to Brute and Massacre by DQ. This could be the last time Brute and Massacre ever get the chance to wear gold, can they capture a 6th title? They last held the belts back on #370 which is almost six years ago. In the process they could also complete the incredible orders of Thakur to make all the belts a feature of the Civil War. On the other side the champs have Ms. Liberty accompanying them to the ring instead of Commander Sam. Ms. Liberty wants to be a more involved and useful member of the FDF and convinces Sam to let her manage the team tonight. The move could backfire badly because she will be powerless to defend herself should the Gladiators turn on her and as we all know Aethrans have little or no respect for women. It’s a ferocious battle that swings back and forth. US. Patriot needs the help of Justice after Massacre gave him THE CLEANSING. Adam bounces back with ADAM’S ATOMIC BLAST on Massacre which nearly gets the pin. The brutality of the Gladiators continues unabated but the Squadron show why they are champs by dealing with the power differential and starting a period of domination. Adam has Massacre reeling and needing to bail to the outside. Massacre sees an opportunity to turn things by making threatening moves towards Ms. Liberty and diverting the attentions of the Squadron but it backfires as Adam flies out of the ring. Grabbing a chair he seeks to protect his wife at all costs and draws the DQ and in the process it prevents Brute and Massacre getting their hands on the belts. Surely a rematch is on the cards but Massacre fumes. He rants that he and Brute should of been smoking celebratory cigars but the Squadron were running scared and caused the outcome on purpose. Angrily reacting to the accusation Justice chimes in that they are more than prepared to lay down the belts against them again and to give them a fair crack and prove their credentials will not be bringing anyone out to ringside with them Interplanetary champ, Vengeance, defeated Jack of Diamonds. The Gladiator belt domination continues as Vengeance sees off the spirited challenge of Jack. A tombstone piledriver does enough damage to stop Jack in his tracks Superiority Complex beats the Mercenaries by DQ. It’s a GALACTICON rematch. Morpheus deciding to watch the action backstage preferring to let the teams slug it out. He urges Krakan to do the same but his wishes go unheard. Krakan sees the advantage by being at ringside (possibly because the Mercenaries have been struggling). It doesn’t have the desired effect as Superiority Complex again comes out on top. They just can’t put a foot wrong. Prodigy gets battered with POLICE BRUTALITY. OPERATION: AMBUSH and THE REVENGER but the Mercenaries for a variety of reasons still can’t get him pinned. Frustration and anxiety growing among the Hitmen that Krakan feels the need to assist. He attacks Skinhead outside by trying to use his rifle to knock him out. He thinks the Mercenaries have got the assault covered but the ref saw it and calls for the bell Quasar and Titan Fury heap more misery on the Brotherhood by beating Ram and the Zodiac in 6 man tag action. The Titans very much on top and almost put Gemini away early with DAY OF THE DRAGON. Ram leads a brief fight back for the Brotherhood and helps the Zodiac in putting SIGN OF THE ZODIAC on Rising Sun but the Titans are too well drilled to slip up and soon regain total control. Rising Sun is able to stun Mesmer with SUNSET SPECTACULAR and complete the pin without drama as his partners cover him in the ring preventing anyone breaking things up. It’s a slick play from the Titans and what we have come to expect from them as the masters of the art of tag wrestling Dynamo outmuscled Terak and uses MUSCLE RIPPER to beat him. Solid night of results for the Pillars of Power in singles action as they go over the Savage Kingdom twice Powerhouse defeated the Creeper. Whilst the Creeper hasn’t exactly got a wrestling record that is impressive it remains a horrible thing to try and wrestle. Many guys have struggled to contain it but Powerhouse makes it look relatively easy. By using his power effectively Powerhouse is able to stifle the unpredictable style of he Creeper although it needs a few goes with his favoured moves to put it down for good. VOLCANIC DROP and several attempts with CHOKE WITH GEAR are required with the illegal choke ultimately closing things out. Johnny Rocket’s Launching Pad ... DreadnaughtMixed fan reaction to Dreadnaught. He has been one of the most feared villains throughout most of his career but a couple of years ago made a remarkable face turn. Things didn’t quite work out in his partnership with the FDF as old wounds proved harder to heal than expected and there was very little in the way of success. However Dreadnaught still gets some fan support and a lot of respect for the way he wrestles on despite the fact that his body is obviously breaking down. Some of the main highlights ... Johnny Rocket: “Why don’t you retire? Your obviously not the wrestler you used to be” Dreadnaught: (stands up aggressively) “What?” Johnny Rocket: “Woah there fella. You got a high sensitivity level. Just telling it like it is” Dreadnaught: “I can still do plenty of damage. I have achieved everything but I still think I’ve got titles in me. My old partner, Marcel de Sade, is also hungry and together we can recapture our glory days” Johnny Rocket: “But the team looks like a joke. Two guys that are past it trying to keep up with younger and stronger teams. Imagine if you got in the ring with Brute and Massacre or the Mercenaries. You’d get pulverised” Dreadnaught: “Nonsense. We are the most experienced team in the GWF and can beat any team on any given night” Johnny Rocket: “What about your long running feud with Doomsayer? Do you plan to continue it? I heard Marcel de Sade is not too keen on going up against the Entropy guys” Dreadnaught: “That’s where your wrong. Your journalistic skills are on the decline. In fact we got a program booked against both Monad and Doomsayer” Johnny Rocket: “Well I’m surprised but I don’t fancy your chances. And your pretty short on friends or support. After all, your defection to the hero side didn’t go too well” Dreadnaught: “Wrong again. Everyone thinks I left the FDF because of we couldn’t get along. But it was a mutual decision and we still respect each other. Sam even sent me a Christmas card at the end of last year” Johnny Rocket: “Don’t make me laugh. You and Sam sending each other Christmas cards. What next? Matching outfits as gifts? A kiss under the mistletoe? Some ... Ugh. What are you doing? ” Taking a dislike to Johnny’s jokes and lack of respect Dreadnaught picks him up and throws from the studio stage. The fans go mad for it. Dreadnaught stands before them and enjoys hearing his name being chanted. He has Johnny’s unpopularity to thank for elevating him to a position where he is loved by the fans. Deep down he will always be a heelish character but sometimes the most popular wrestlers show such characteristics. Wolf is hardly your typical hero favouring violent hardcore action but is arguably the most popular wrestler ever. Dreadnaught falls into that same mould. He follows this dramatic interview with a Spacebook posting calling Rocket “a snivelling coward that needs to be crushed like a space bug”, Commander Sam adds a like to the posting within minutes of it going up.

Card 652 – NETWORK DEIMOS WRESTLING – Deimos Intergalactic Arena:
Chaos beats Mayhem to become the Heavyweight champ once more. Mayhem’s injuries are now rated at minor but it would have been a monumental achievement if he’d of come through this defense still holding the belt. It’s a wonder he has managed to hold onto it this long. Chaos makes a purposeful stride towards the ring. He believes it is his god given right to own this belt. Mayhem is not going to give it up without a fight though and hits Chaos hard. LEAP OF DOOM (+5) looked like it was going to be enough but Morpheus is right there to sneakily place Chaos’s foot on the ropes. It’s a huge let off for Chaos who surely wouldn’t of been up to kicking out. Chaos starts to grow into the match from here. Mayhem tries DANGER ZONE but it barely phases Chaos and he takes over. BOW OF DEFEAT helps to slow Mayhem down a bit but it’s a Galaxy Crusher that actually seals the title. Chaos kicks his beaten foe out the ring and also tosses the referee once handed the title. Nobody is allowed to be in his presence as he arrogantly polishes the Heavyweight belt with a cloth and then holds it aloft. Thakur is not pleased. Injury is no excuse for losing and the Gladiator domination of titles has been stopped in it’s tracks and they now only have what they consider to be a worthless prize, the IP belt. His orders are simple, win the belt back at all costs
Colonizer belt, Wildcat beats Mandrill by DQ. As if the belt isn’t disliked enough the fans are fed up with Mandrill picking his opponents and stacking things in his favour to make himself look good. No disrespect to Wildcat but he is not highly ranked or even wrestling much singles stuff these days. To make matters worse Mandrill insists a condition of the match is that Terak does not accompany Wildcat to the ring. With everything against him Wildcat decides to just go for it and thrills the fans by almost catching Mandrill cold with the very first move. Mandrill has to move quickly to kick out. Wildcat doesn’t let up. The next move is a Predator Pounce and it knocks Mandrill out of the ring. Irate at being shown up Mandrill picks himself up and drags Wildcat out by the legs. Taken aback and uncomfortable with being out there Wildcat lets Mandrill punish him and offers no resistance to being smashed with the Colonizer belt in the face. Mandrill takes the loss as it means he keeps his prize and avoids a humiliation
Hitman Match, the Mercenaries defeated Janus and the Matador (who do not communicate at all throughout the entire bout). Janus falls meekly to POLICE BRUTALITY but might be wondering why the Matador did nothing to try and break up the pin attempt. Morpheus dodges questions in the build up about how the Matador is fitting into the team instead preferring to brag about how he is happy to take some of Krakan’s cash off him. To his dismay his team is well beaten. Krakan joins the Mercenaries in the ring for the post match shakedown and gets on Soldier of Fortune’s shoulders to pull the bag down from the pole. Bizarrely he sees Morpheus sitting in a VIP booth and tosses him the whole bag and laughs. To add insult to the whole defeat Morpheus realises he is part of a sham as he tears apart the bag to find there is no cash inside it, just bits of paper. Morpheus doesn’t know whether to blame the Champions team or the Hitmen for this humiliation
Overkill overcomes Wolf in a Titan Death match (Thakur’s idea). Overkill is free of injury and back to his intimidating best. Wolf is clinging on from the opening bell. To Wolf’s credit he makes the match last as long as he can but loses when Overkill uses his incredible power to squash him with TURNBUCKLE TRAP
Doomsayer pinned Dreadnaught. Doomsayer laughs at how pathetic Dreadnaught has now become. He has little trouble in disposing of him with FUTURESHOCK
Defender of the Realm goes over Killer Queen. Intrigue as the two most controversial members ever to of graced the King’s Court clash. Queenie still close to his old team but the Defender continues to cause issues with his unpredictability. Fans are like Defender’s personality, split down the middle. For once Defender plays a serious game and it reflects in a dominating effort. Queenie does well to kick out of DEFENDER CANNON twice but it’s just a matter of time and a Joker Flip leads to the pin fall in favour of the Defender
Kati wins against Enigma by DQ. Kati has been struggling to settle in the Savage Kingdom and it shows. Despite starting strong he is soon having to hang on against Enigma. The fact Kati comes out with a DQ win is fortunate and more down to Darkos making an error of judgement by attacking him on the outside. Kati later admits life in the Savage Kingdom is not what he expected stating “we are very different”
Demons of Hydra make short work of Alpha Force and Heracles. Demon pinned Heracles for a notable win. Once again an example that seasoned tag teams are often so much better than a couple of top singles stars thrown together.

GWF REPORT (CIVIL WAR 2100 CARDS 649 - 652)
Champions
* GWF Galaxian Champ: Chaos (Top Contender: Mayhem) * GWF Tag Champs: Sam’s Squadron (Top Contenders: Brute and Massacre) * GWF Interplanetary Champ: Vengeance (Top Contender: Ursa Major)
Latest News:
Turns out the Champions-Hitmen alliance was nothing but a sham. Omega maintained all along he had struck no deal. It was a ruse by Krakan to create instability and generate business interest by arranging the matches against the Citadel himself. The fact that the Hitman cash bag was loaded with bits of paper with the words ‘fooled you’ supported the claim. Omega is planning not to give Krakan the satisfaction of getting his team sucked into a feud with the Hitmen, “we have more important matters to be attending to than play their game. Now Chaos holds the Heavyweight belt again we need to try and restore it to the hero side”.
Ursa Major building a surprise reputation after some singles wins. His preference is for tag teaming but Lord Nexus is finding it harder and harder to wrestle matches regularly. He is being urged to make a challenge for the IP belt by his team mates. Ursa Major is unsure of what to do and must tread carefully if he is to go up against Vengeance as he could get badly injured in the process. OTB is coming. Back to it’s traditional format but Carter is keeping it to one participant per team. Big names like the Matador, Spike, the Mercenaries, Brute and Massacre (could be their last chance) have never tasted glory so will be going all out. No tag team has ever triumphed more than once in the tournament. Past winners of the singles bracket are Chaos (3), Star Warrior (2), Raven (2), Colussus. In the tag bracket all of these teams have triumphed, the Keepers, Titan Express, Animal Pack, New Order, Code of Honor, Superiority Complex, the Gamemasters, Deadly Challenge. The hardcore event hasn’t been going as long as the others but the first winner was Alpha Force but since then Wolf has been dominant with 3 wins in a row. CIVIL WAR WATCH - Slow month on the Civil War front as Wolf and Overkill provide the only meaningful action. The Gladiators have been distracted by belt related tasks. Brute and Massacre, in particular, are making a huge effort to win favour with Thakur as they spent the month steamrolling outside opposition before starting a side feud with Sam’s Squadron to try and win the tag belts. Vengeance continues to hold the IP belt. However, the main Aethran focus rests on the fate of the Heavyweight strap. They were unable to keep Chaos’s grubby mits off and Mayhem (still wrestling injured) dropped the belt. Thakur’s mood is one of rage as it has stopped their attempts to possess all the gold having been so close. He has ordered that it is won back with immediate effect.
WHOSE HOT – Max Shield. Overkill, Chaos, Demons of Hydra, the Mercenaries WHOSE NOT – Mayhem, Janus, Heracles, Terak, the Creeper, New Order INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – Splatter (5)
Wrestler of the Month: CHAOS - Back to the GWF summit. It has been many years since Chaos last wore the Heavyweight belt but he always remained a danger and is one of the all time greats. In recent times he has made it a personal crusade to earn a title shot. The way he dismantled Mayhem shows how much the strap means even if he is an arrogant sod.
Tag Team of the Month: DEMONS OF HYDRA - Any team that can brush aside two guys of the calibre of Alpha Force and Heracles in mere minutes deserves recognition. They also fought an epic with the Mercenaries and continue to keep themselves highly ranked. If Brute and Massacre fail against the Squadron they are ready to step in and challenge the champs.

FED FLASHBACK
Episode 8 – RETRO RAMPAGE - Vega Palladium
INTRO:
Going back to last year already. This never made it to the TV but it featured a bucket load of matches which had historical significance. Dragonmaster joins Johnny Rocket (who is back on presenting duties). Johnny can barely be bothered but does at least ask Dragonmaster about what he remembers. Dragonmaster is a natural on the mic and summarises “anytime I faced Mutant it always brought back memories of when I was scarred by it all those years ago and became Pit Viper. It sends shivers down my spine to think of it. A lot has changed inside me since then but it always made me extra determined when I faced Mutant. It’s always been a difficult thing to wrestle. I think the unpredictability is the toughest part to deal with and as you’ll see I almost lost with the first move of the match. Luckily it woke me up and I think the crowd enjoyed seeing me get a bit hardcore again. I’m not proud of being DQ’d but I think I can be forgiven for the way I acted”. THE MATCHES:
Thantos beats Killing Machine by DQ. Lots of suspicion that Killing Machine might be Bounty Hunter in a suit. If that’s true then that makes this match meaningful given that they once formed an occasional tag team called Double Jeopardy several years ago. Thantos wins this particular battle. Killing Machine trying to use power and brute force to get an advantage but Thantos is far too astute. He knows how to deal with guys more powerful than himself and gets out of the ring under bombardment. Killing Machine follows and charges at him like a freight train. Thantos steps aside and uses momentum to bury Killing Machine into the railings. Rolling the huge Gladiator back into the ring Thantos shows he is no slouch in the game of strength himself by executing a power bomb. With all the wind taken out Killing Machine rolls out himself and buy some time. Thantos can see Killing Machine losing his cool as he recovers and smartly tips the ref off to keep an eye on the next move. Sure enough Killing Machine returns to the ring armed with a weapon. He doesn’t get near Thantos as the ref signals for the bell immediately. With the job done Thantos gets out of town as quick as possible and let’s Killing Machine work off his anger in the ring
Titan Wrestling gets a surprise win over the Mercenaries by DQ. Vigilante laying down the law. Making accusations that Trainer Jim is paying new signing Ursa Major a slave wage to wrestle for the Titans, he rants “Jim has fed the kid a load of bullsh*t to get him wrestling for him. But don’t worry I am here to serve justice”. Big talk but the Mercenaries get it far from their own way in the match itself. Lord Nexus and Ursa Major frustrating them and closing off all their main attacks. At the time of the DQ the Titans were ontop. Lord Nexus had just won a battle with Vigilante at the top of the turnbuckle and then dropped a falling elbow where he got such height in his leap some fans gasped. The old favourite still has some snazzy moves. Krakan worries about humiliation and orders Vigilante to come out the firing line. Vigilante staggers over to Krakan and after a brief discussion grabs his rifle and returns to the ring purposely bringing the bout to a close. Undeterred Krakan snarls at Trainer Jim that the Titans may of won the battle tonight but they will never win the war
Wolf defeated Marcel de Sade. One of the original classic feuds gets it’s time in the spotlight again. Marcel de Sade tries to pick up his game against his old rival but the years have been kinder to Wolf. He only needs a couple minutes to lock in SAVAGE FACE CLAW for victory
Monad overcomes Asylum in a handicap match. Remember those matches between the Cosmic Forces and Norse Gods. Well here we go again. Kind of. Despite the man advantage Asylum cannot get the better of Monad. He uses a DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE on Psycho and then smashes Frenzy on the apron to prevent a pin save (something Asylum had been very effectively using up until that point)
Mutant beat Dragonmaster by DQ. Always tense when Dragonmaster comes up against one of those responsible for those terrible scars on his face. Despite a jittery start Dragonmaster makes Mutant pay by battering it outside the ring. Sadly his aggressions cause a DQ loss which is out of character for the Titans but Dragonmaster does not care much as he just wanted to punish Mutant. He finishes with a flourish by landing a spinning kick that sends Mutant spinning right into the ring announcer’s lap
Raven pinned Pollux in a filler match that gets little interest. The only reason at the time Pollux was getting matches was because some GWF stars wanted to challenge each other to see how quickly they could finish him off. Tonight was Raven’s turn and he fared pretty well needing just three moves (culminating in BROADSWORD) to achieve it.

Dark Matches ... promoted as ‘LOSE YOU BRUISE’ ... from Albireo Temple
(Battle Royals are not something we see often on the GWF circuit. They were very popular in federations that existed before the Galactic War and the UFSP ban on wrestling. Many fans of traditional wrestling have been clamouring for more of them. Tonight is their lucky night as a 20 man contest is booked. It’s stacked with big names and the undercard is also extremely hot with a Civil War match and the feud between the Citadel and the Champions also being featured)
UNIVERSAL BATTLE ROYAL
First out is Pollux. He knows he has no chance and tries to stay away from everybody but it’s so crowded in the ring this proves impossible. He is thrown over the top rope by Enigma within seconds. Some good early battles. Mandrill and Janus are trading blows. Killer Queen and Grunge also battling hard but neither goes over; Next to go is Colussus as he charges Mayhem who ducks and sends him over and onto the floor. Spike thinks he has dumped out Max Shield next but Max’s feet didn’t touch the ground and he stays alive in the match. Meanwhile Mandrill and Soldier of Fortune have taken each other out and are both down in the middle of the ring. Powerhouse almost tosses Enigma out but the agile Assassin hangs on. There is also near elimination for Killer Queen as he fights off Holocaust’s attempts; Crowd is pulling for Draconian Sheik as the outsider to win. He is very popular in this part of the galaxy (the turbulent Cygnusian crowd often favour villains or non-humans). Unfortunately Drac doesn’t understand the concept of the match and eliminates himself whilst grappling Soldier of Fortune. He tries to re-enter the ring but officials stationed outside manage to stop him; Quickly following from Drac’s elimination we see Mayhem fly across the ring as Exo-King uses his incredible strength to send him packing. Now the battles are raging. A three way between Killer Queen, Wildcat and Enigma in one corner. In the other corner Max Shield has pinned his big enemy Mandrill against the turnbuckle and is unleashing a series of shoulder rams. It’s also feisty between Powerhouse and Janus; Out of nowhere Heracles walks up to Soldier of Fortune and throws him over the rope. Soldier of Fortune had let his guard down and wasn’t watching. Quasar has been pretty quiet in the match but now shows his stuff. He doesn’t care if it’s friend or foe as he engages with Exo-King. At the same time Max Shield has broken off of going after Mandrill to battle Bishop Hell; No messing from Spike as gets rid of Wildcat. He sees Wildcat as weak and simply grabs him by the head and moves him over to the top rope. Wildcat has to go with it or risk severely injuring his neck. Mandrill and Grunge try to seize the opportunity by ganging up on Spike but he fights them off; Mandrill moves his attention to Powerhouse but is soon made to regret this as gets eliminated by him. Max gives Powerhouse a helping hand in getting his rival out. Wow, Heracles and Grunge now having a ferocious battle; The action continues with Holocaust next to go at the hands of Exo-King. Now a long period without eliminations. Enigma unsuccessfully goes for Spike but finds his power too much, Janus then almost ends Killer Queen’s involvement. Even good friends Exo-King and Killer Queen turn on each other but both Spike and then Bishop Hell get in on the act. Quasar has to be on his toes as he fends off both Heracles and then Enigma. Max Shield and Grunge find themselves slugging it out with Enigma and then Killer Queen joining the exchange. Heracles quickly breaks it up and very nearly dumps Enigma who manages to slide back in under the bottom rope. Quasar now finds himself up against Killer Queen until Spike wades in and very nearly clotheslines Queenie over. Big action between Enigma and Bishop Hell which Grunge soon gets himself embroiled in too. After a brief rest Vyper cannot resist also joining and he singles out Enigma. Both battle over the sagging top rope but neither falls out. Another guy in peril is Exo-King as Max Shield and Janus surprisingly work together to oust the big guy. Even Killer Queen helps out but he is just too big; Heracles finally gets the some eliminations going again as he gets an exhausted Max Shield out. The key battles are now Quasar, Spike and Enigma in the centre. Nearer to the edge Exo-King and Bishop Hell are again going at it. Bishop Hell looks like he might be charging HELLFIRE up but it never comes. Vyper soon breaks their battle up; Powerhouse is out of the action. Nobody is sure how he has ended up on the outside. Being such a huge man he would of been a strong contender to of been the last man standing; Janus now gets Killer Queen out the ring as he ducks under a punch. Queenie dismayed but he has done well to last this long; Big moment as Heracles and Quasar have Exo-King pinned near the ropes. They need help to try and get him out and it comes from Spike who charges at them all and it sends the King toppling; Spike looks pumped and ready to clean house. He now goes after Vyper but is evaded so switches focus to Heracles who amazingly wins their battle of strength and lifts him out. Poor Vyper is under fire from several angles but is holding his own. Janus and Grunge have also now started a frantic battle. Bishop Hell is trying to go after both Quasar and Enigma as the field thins out; Whilst Heracles and Janus are drawn together Quasar tries to steam in but gets himself thrown out. Heracles swatted him away like a fly so he could continue grappling Janus without this distraction; Bishop Hell and Grunge now team up to throw Vyper out; Almost thirty minutes in and Heracles is on a rampage as Enigma flies at him but just gets caught and dumped to the floor; Only 4 guys left. Everyone seems to be going after Heracles as he is outnumbered by villains. They are all trotting up in turns to take a swing at him but surprisingly Grunge is next to go. Heracles pushes him away and towards the ropes where Janus seeks the opportunity to get him out; Poor Heracles has taken so much punishment that he cannot stand up to Janus and Bishop Hell. Bishop Hell gives him a real going over to leave him teetering on the edge. Along comes Janus giving him a nudge to send Heracles flying and take credit for the elimination. This doesn’t sit too well with Bishop Hell who did all the hard work; Bishop Hell tears into Janus as a result and smelling a big victory but Janus has wrestled exceptionally throughout. He ducks under HELLFIRE and sweeps Bishop Hell off his feet. He now has the chance to get GORDION KNOT on which severely damages Bishop Hell making him easy to then eliminate. JANUS WINS IT!!!!! (Heracles 5, Janus 4, Spike 3, Exo-King 2, Mayhem, Grunge, Enigma, Soldier of Fortune, Powerhouse 1)
UNDERCARD
Massacre and Wolf overcame Thunder and Overkill. It’s a regular match with no-one at ringside. Utter carnage as the Vanguard duo is denied almost certain victory after unloading DECAPITATOR on Massacre. Wolf smashes the covering Thunder with a chair and the ref forgetting this was not a Titan Death match allows it. From this point the Legends are headed towards a turnaround victory with Wolf achieving it over Thunder via SAVAGE FACE CLAW. Bad feelings in the aftermath over match events means both teams end up brawling to the back
Chaos and the Matador defeated the Gamemasters. Morpheus leads his team to ringside but the Matador refuses to wrestle unless he leaves. Morpheus will not be shown up by what he perceives to be a tantrum and stands his ground. The Matador takes a walk and leaves Chaos fighting alone. This looks like it will be even too much for Chaos to cope with trying to deal with two of the most successful and experienced wrestlers in history alone. At first it looks like it will be that way as he struggles to stay on top and prevent the defensive tags. However it only takes one of his crushing bear hugs to slow things right down. At first Thantos feels the pain but then Star Warrior experiences a stint in BOW OF DEFEAT and when it comes around a second time he is beaten. Chaos overcomes the odds to win
Dreadnaught shocks Monad. Dreadnaught relishes the opportunity to go up against Monad despite warnings that he will be torn apart. Ignoring the gloomy predictions Dreadnaught fights hard and gets an upset pin after GUIDED MISSILE. Doomsayer calls the defeat a blip and is still convinced his creation can dominate the GWF
Doomsayer beats Marcel de Sade by DQ. Marcel de Sade was going pretty well at the time and shows his frustration by making a big song and dance about the referee’s decision. He ends up cornering the ref but Dreadnaught (at ringside and revelling in an unexpected popularity surge) convinces him to leave it. Perhaps he is eager to get into his own match with Monad which is up next
Ram defeats Rising Sun with RAM CHARGE. Rising Sun wrestles a great match but falls victim to the interfering and tricks of the Overlord which gives Ram a tainted victory.

Dark Matches ... promoted as ‘THE BEAST FEAST’ ... from Oberon Civic Center
(Here’s an interesting one. With many of the OTB slots filled and becoming such a hard event to get into one promoter comes up with an idea to schedule a tournament for the beasts and wild things of the GWF. A gross out affair but a hot ticket as it gets sold out. Even though the show isn’t on TV some interstellar radio stations such as COSMIC FM and STELLAR SOUNDS broadcast live commentary)
(Loopy in-ring promo from Defender of the Realm as Johnny Rocket is tasked with introducing the competitors. He interviews them all (some more successfully than others) in the ring. Mutant is covered in a revolting brown gloop after being left unsupervised in a room by organisers near some paint pots and various chemicals. Johnny decides not to even bother trying to make any conversation and moves to Draconian Sheik. That doesn’t go too well as Drac attempts to eat the microphone. When talking to Defender, Johnny casually mentions “now you’ve left the King’s Court the walls appear to be closing in on the team and Exo-King hasn’t been too pleasant in commenting that the Defender was just a bloodsucker dragging everyone down. Surely this will have an effect on your tournament performance tonight?”. Defender’s face turns to panic and he starts to tremble. Johnny demands to know “what’s up? spit it out man”. Defender suddenly screams “the walls are closing in?! We’ll be crushed. Run for your lives”. He is losing his grip on reality. The crowd is quiet, puzzled by the outburst)
Non-Tournament Match - Lumberjack match, Overkill defeated Massacre. Overkill is back to full mobility and dominant and uses TURNBUCKLE TRAP countless times on his way to victory. The Vanguard lumberjacks also proved more influential than the Legends during the course of the match
Round 1:
Stalker eliminates Death’s Head with CALL OF THE WILD. Death’s Head pipes up by hissing that Stalker and the inhabitants of the Savage Kingdom will become endangered species by the time he is finished with them. He then tries to unsuccessfully bury Stalker with FUNERAL MARCH. To the thrill of the fans Stalker battles back
Monad beat Defender of the Realm after DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE leaves Defender a giggling bloody mess. Before the match Defender is pelted with rotten eggs by hordes of angry fans after he leaves a child in tears during his ring entrance. He offered a handshake only to electric shock the unsuspecting child as part of some cruel joke
Mutant and Dreadnaught both eliminated due to a double DQ. Dreadnaught unleashes GUIDED MISSILE maybe 2 or 3 times but cannot keep Mutant down. The match then spends a great deal of time spilling out the ring whereupon a dangerous brawl breaks out requiring an early stop to the proceedings
Draconian Sheik beats the Creeper via DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER. The match seems a recipe for disaster with two uncontrollable entities but as it turns out it just becomes a lopsided battle. The rage of Drac overwhelms the Creeper for a quick win. Stalker is on the scene to lead the Creeper away to safety
Round 2:
Stalker really takes it to Monad and wins their match easily. CALL OF THE WILD again delivers for him. Doomsayer despairs as his creation fails him again. Monad has stacks of power and offence but often is unable to use it effectively
Draconian Sheik receives a bye into the final match up
Final:
Draconian Sheik defeats Stalker to win the tournament. Stalker tries to fight fire with fire by going hardcore but is hopelessly out of his depth. Drac brutalises him with use of a sharp object and DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER. Drac responds to the triumph by biting the head off the trophy that is handed to him. Cannibal calls this the first step towards Murderer’s Row taking over the GWF.
*BETWEEN THE ROPES*
Omega confirms that Thantos will represent the Champions team in the singles OTB tournament, “he has earned the right after some incredible matches this year and the rest of the team is fully supportive of the decision. Thantos has proved he is not over the hill yet and I am extremely proud of what he has done”. Colussus is not being given the chance to defend the title he won last year (somewhat fortuitously) but will instead compete in the Hardcore bracket. Omega is counting on him to break the incredible domination of this tournament that Wolf has and show that the Champions team has the stomach for cage matches. Other teams having issues with picking their reps. Morpheus has to choose between Chaos, the Matador and Janus whilst also trying to keep everyone happy. He is leaving his decision as long as possible but it seems improbable that he can not put Chaos forward now the big man has the main belt again. The deadline is one week before the tournament begins.
Exo-King is annoyed at being overlooked for a spot after his solid run at the Heavyweight strap a few months ago. It was between him and Spike but the Gladiator got the nod. Exo-King thinks the fanfare surrounding the Civil War is giving the Gladiators favouritism and top billing at the expense of others.
Terak puts Vyper into the cage category ahead of Stalker. It was expected Stalker as the senior member of the team (and in light of the Enforcers narrowly missing out on qualifying for the tag OTB) would be the chosen one. Terak explains his decision “Vyper deserves the chance. Since joining us he has been happier with life and that reflected when he nearly won the IP belt. Myself and Stalker sat down and agreed Vyper has a great chance of doing well in the tournament”.

Card 653 – Canopus Civic Coliseum:
(This is one loaded card with two belt matches and Chaos facing Mayhem in non-title action. Before the card there is a rumour that Splatter has been seen in the area and is looking for another victim. Everyone is on red alert and hoping it’s a false alarm seeing as he is still serving out a suspension. Also the draw for OTB takes place in the ring. There is still time for changes but the GWF wants to start promoting the contests. The names are beamed up as holograms and it throws up out some very interesting clashes. The stand out pairings are Wolf against Janus in the Hardcore tournament, Sam’s Squadron facing Superiority Complex in the tag team contest and in the showpiece singles bracket there is particular interest in Vengeance against Raven, Chaos taking on ambitious newcomer Max Shield and old partners in crime squaring off as it’s Thantos versus Bishop Hell. This is the wonderful thing about this event as it leads to plenty of tasty matches that would not normally of been booked)
Tag Belt Match, Brute and Massacre defeat Sam’s Squadron in a match with no-one at ringside to become champs. The last meeting was a classic and brutal affair. This would prove to be even better as both teams trade all their best moves. The only guy who didn’t use his finisher was Justice. In the end a devastating double team pin save catches out US. Patriot and Brute is able to capitalise and pin him. It’s a remarkable achievement from the legendary Gladiator team who had been written off in what could possibly of been their last ever title tilt. Massacre reacts to their night of glory by flicking the ash of his cigar and arrogantly boasting that they have proved their superiority and challenges the Vanguard team to top that
Colonizer belt, Mandrill overcomes Raven with VOLTAIC STUNNER. This could easily be an OTB final preview match. Raven says the best way to bounce back from his recent loss to Chaos is to win this strange belt and then follow it up with OTB success. On the sidelines Wildcat is slightly aggrieved he isn’t getting another stab having previously posted a DQ win over Mandrill. Raven makes him a promise that should he win then he will give Wildcat the first refusal of a chance to challenge him (there’s no GWF championship committee involved in deciding who gets the shots with this belt). Sadly he doesn’t get the chance to make good on his promise. In a frenzied battle Raven starts really strong and is all over Mandrill who is lucky to still be in it after being swiped with BROADSWORD. Trying to keep up the pace Raven aims to take Mandrill out with a deathjump but gets pulled down. The fall takes a lot out of Raven and he is never the same after that. Mandrill may of still been groggy from the earlier beating but is now able to pace himself and slowly works his way to the point of victory courtesy of his illegal finisher
Chaos defeated Mayhem in a non-title match. Dramatic early moment as Chaos is thrown from the ring and Mayhem performs a deathjump into the crowd injuring several fans. Splatter is one of those that gets taken down in the crush. Trying to get around his suspension he had bought a ticket and sits among the crowd. He wants to injure Mayhem again but is rumbled. Aware that his cover is blown he quickly puts on his hat and coat before merging back into the crowd. Mayhem’s moment of madness is costly as he is injured. Chaos simply scoops him back into the ring and starts the process of using BOW OF DEFEAT. It doesn’t take much to wear Mayhem down. By the third one he is helplessly slumped and finished off
Kati beats Vengeance by DQ in another non-title match. Kati in the doldrums after having his face split open by Vengeance. He had the audacity to make a good start and was soon punished by the sick Vengeance for his bravado in the ring
The Mercenaries crush Titan Wrestling. Ursa Major trying to stay grounded and ignore the media momentum over his possible singles push. Tonight the focus is entirely on his tag team duties. He is given a harsh reminder of the brutality of the Hitmen. Despite the fast start of the Titans they are soon completely overpowered. Ursa Major is then battered with OPERATION: AMBUSH, THE REVENGER and lastly POLICE BRUTALITY before Vigilante pins him
Monad and Doomsayer grab a fortunate win against the Henchmen by DQ. Mutant abandons it’s post as bodyguard to the Entropy guys. Dreadnaught lets a live chicken out of a box which flutters down the runway causing the Mutant to run after it and out of sight. Screams are heard behind the curtain as Mutant pursues it. Dreadnaught is in hot water over the stunt and later cops a fine but is happy to pay up as it was worth it just to see the look on Doomsayer’s face. Back in the ring the Henchmen are more than a match for Monad and Doomsayer. Monad tries for a quick finish after DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE on Marcel de Sade but Dreadnaught outsmarts him and turns the tide back in favour of his partner. In fact Dreadanught looks really pumped up but maybe just too much as he goes too far during his moment in the spotlight. Baiting Monad outside and then cracking him one with a model handed to him by an excited fan. Marcel de Sade had tried to distract the referee but Doomsayer got in his face first.

Card 654 – ONLY THE BEST (Hardcore) – Io Coliseum:
Added Attraction, Interplanetary Title Match, Ursa Major stuns Vengeance to win the belt. It’s true that Ursa Major has improved a ton but all the build up suggested he was not ready for a match of this magnitude. Trainer Jim was even holding his hands up and saying it may of been the wrong decision. How wrong they were as the youngster blitzes Vengeance. The evil Vanguard leader doesn’t get a moment’s respite and is constantly peppered with SHOTGUN CRADLE until he stays down for good. Jim hugs Ursa Major in an emotional aftermath and apologises for doubting the outcome. The Titan trainer says “the faith was always still there but I did worry for him against someone so bloodthirsty. I am so glad he proved us all wrong. I am earmarking Ursa Major as a future leading light of the Titan team”. The outcome is a big humiliation for Vengeance and something he will dread explaining to Thakur;
First Round:
Cannibal eliminates Quasar. Cannibal pulls rank to put himself in the tournament over Death’s Head or Drac. Not too many more of these left for the ageing Cannibal. Fears that Quasar will be too fast for him are quickly dispensed when Cannibal slows him with a twisting Head Roller and then chokes him out with THROAT SLIT
Vyper eventually overcomes Ram. Crowd tries to lift things. It’s a very static and ‘cagey’ match as neither wants to make the first mistake and end up eating metal. Ram makes most of the running but has no end product. Vyper bides his time and pounces. A devastating flurry of Predator Pounce, Snake Spinesmasher and then a shoulder breaker sends Ram flying and gives an opening for a swift escape. Sets up an intriguing battle with Cannibal next
Mayhem wins against Colussus. Mayhem under pressure to win after recently disappointing Thakur. He responds to the pressure by entering the cage and ramming his head into the sides and drawing blood before the match has even begun. Colussus looks intimidated and like he doesn’t want to be in there. Sure enough Mayhem flies into proceedings without hesitation or care for his own body. Colussus stands no chance and is soon a sitting duck with LEAP OF DOOM which hits hard (+5). Mayhem screams loudly at the top of the cage and urges Wolf to try and better that in the next clash. Colussus slammed afterwards for defeatist attitude going into the bout
Wolf escapes against Janus. With his participation in the Hardcore tournament it more or less confirms Morpheus has gone with Chaos in the singles section (although he has not yet made a public announcement). Janus is putting his charisma across and it’s definitely the closest tussle of the opening round but with carrot of a match against Mayhem awaiting Wolf is not to be denied. In a race to the top the pair of them grapple near the cage summit but Wolf wins the battle of wills. A ferocious blow sends Janus tumbling back into the abyss of the cage and he is powerless to stop Wolf. The march towards a fourth consecutive cage OTB victory is still on for Wolf. His form inside the cage sends a chill through the rest of the participants
Second Round:
Vyper defeated Cannibal. It was a draining battle sure to take it out of whoever ultimately progressed the final. After a bad start in which he was subjected to THROAT SLIT Vyper starts hitting the mark and delivering some punishing hits. Once this starts it’s just a question of hanging on as long as he can for Cannibal and hoping Vyper would make a mistake. The youngster doesn’t miss a step and continues on his quest towards an unlikely triumph in the tournament. Credit were it’s due to Cannibal as he rides out VYPER’S SIDESHOW twice and pulls Vyper back into the cage both times. In the end it’s another shoulder breaker that gets the job done. Vyper says he cannot explain why the move is bringing him so much success but plans to use it in the next match if he can
Mayhem triumphs in a classic over Wolf. Never a dull moment when these two meet. The story of the battle is certainly dramatic as Mayhem finally ends Wolf’s stranglehold on the OTB Hardcore bracket. When Wolf clamps on SAVAGE FACE CLAW it looks like curtains for Mayhem but the wild Gladiator fights with everything to resist it and manages to free himself from the hold. Bloody marks left on his face as a souvenir. Before and after this there are fun and games for Mayhem with LEAP OF DOOM. The first time it happens Wolf gets out of the way and this is what nearly led to his victory. However when Mayhem tries again it is a shuddering impact (+6). The crowd gets behind Wolf willing him to recover and stop Mayhem getting out the cage. Wolf crawls across and forces himself to stand and reach up towards Mayhem but he hasn’t got the strength to succeed and gets kicked forcefully away and staggers backwards into the other side of the structure. Mayhem finding form again at the right time and on the cusp of delivering one of the most important awards in Aethran society. The Hardcore bracket is considered almost as prestigious as the Heavyweight belt and commanding great respect
Final:
Mayhem wins the bracket against Vyper in another classic match. Vyper looks puffed out after two hard matches to reach this final and is the heavy underdog. Despite this Mayhem almost blows his big chance. A fast start that saw DANGER ZONE used against Vyper serves as a false dawn. Vyper’s cunning and agility starts giving Mayhem huge problems. The Gladiator Wildman has to foil several escape attempts and is on the end of VYPER’S SIDESHOW twice. Even when Mayhem gets back on top by brute force it looks like it isn’t going to be his night as he gets LEAP OF DOOM all wrong and misses. Vyper is close to a huge upset victory but cannot quite get the job done. The whole night of action is now really taking it’s toll. He drops the advantage again and Mayhem angered by the continued resistance and attempts to upstage him finds another gear. He reduces Vyper to a bloody carcass and appeared to break the youngster’s nose with Cranium Cracker. Finally Mayhem can escape and take the crown as Hardcore champ. It is notable that he chooses to take the simpler exit via the cage door such is the desperation to win this tournament. Both men carried five tokens each by the end!

Card 655 – ONLY THE BEST (Tag) – Io Coliseum:
(Morpheus confirms that Chaos is the choice to be the Citadel rep in the singles bracket. The Matador has not been at training so he only he had to choose between Chaos and Janus in the end. With Chaos holding the Heavyweight belt again as at time of writing it made things easier because Janus could hardly argue and he slipped quietly into the Hardcore bracket where he was eliminated at the first hurdle by Wolf. Begs the question on whether the Matador is even still a member of the Elite these days. He is mostly wrestling alone and is never seen hanging around with any of the others anymore)
Added Attraction, Heavyweight champ, Chaos, holds off the challenge of Mayhem. Overkill sends Thrash out to ringside to try and bolster the chances of the Gladiators recapturing the prized belt and form a barrier towards Splatter who is rumoured to be skulking about again. Thrash ends up in a stand off with Morpheus and both of them neutralize eachother’s ringside threat. The path is now clear for an intriguing battle where Chaos has the measure of his Gladiator rival once again. He has to weather an early storm but maybe exertions in the OTB Hardcore tournament have taken it out of Mayhem. He starts to fade and Chaos typically seizes the chance with BOW OF DEFEAT (4 times) to win. Defeat for Mayhem sends him tumbling out of contention. Can anyone get the belt back off Chaos now he has finally reclaimed it? He really has very few weaknesses and can see this being another long run with it;
First Round:
Brute and Massacre batter Generation X. The Gladiators on cruise control. Grunge feels the full force of DECAPITATOR
Superiority Complex canter to victory against Sam’s Squadron. Friendly Fire! Justice in trying to help his struggling partner accidentally swipes him. Superiority Complex can’t believe their luck and waste no time using THE PERFECT TAG FINISHER on Adam. The FDF stars are suddenly slumping prompting a mini meltdown from Commander Sam. He considers the performance of his team unacceptable and immediately schedules extra assault course training for the Squadron at 6 am sharp tomorrow morning
The Mercenaries win a five star classic against New Order. OPERATION: AMBUSH gets Mace. So close to a major victory for the New Order. Both of the Mercenaries got the brunt of THE HOLOCAUST. Each time the other partner gets to there in the nick of time to save the match. Looks like it’s not a question of if but when the New Order will finish the match but the Mercenaries stage a turnaround that may get them back into their manager’s good books. Using brutal tactics and out of ring smarts they start putting the tokens on both Dreggs and Mace. A deep sense of forboding permeates through the crowd and worst fears are realised as Mace is pinned. New Order just not been the same for years. When they entered the GWF they looked like they could become one of the greatest teams ever but after a fast start they have seriously underachieved
Thunder and Overkill edge Titan Fury. Another five star match. Initially Thunder and Rising Sun take centre stage with an amazing battle. The theatrical moves of Rising Sun dazzles the crowd. As the match moves towards the business end the big moves start to come out with varying degrees of success. First to be on the end of a pulverising move is Dragonmaster as DECAPITATOR in unleashed. Rising Sun makes an astonishing leap over the ropes and kicks Thunder down before he can make the covering attempt. Shortly after the Titans are in the ascendancy and it’s Overkill’s turn to be in trouble after DRAGON DROP but he simply powers out of the pinning attempt. It swings again and Overkill tries TURNBUCKLE TRAP on Rising Sun but a swift martial arts move allows him to break free. By now the atmosphere has cranked up. Everyone is soaking up this tremendous tussle. The Titans go for DAY OF THE DRAGON on Overkill, surely it’s over now but no … Overkill has it in him to once again power out. The power of this guy is unlike anything the Titans are used to facing. The failure seems to knock the stuffing out of Titan Fury. Running out of ideas Dragonmaster goes for a leap off the top rope but gets caught in no man’s land. Forcefully thrown from the top he gets struck with DECAPITATOR for the second time in the match. Rising Sun tries to leap into the ring again to save him but this time Overkill cuts him off catches him mid-air. Thunder completes the pin whilst Overkill slams Rising Sun into the floor. Wow!
Second Round:
Superiority Complex overcome Brute and Massacre. Both teams are revved up and ready to go. Major points to prove, Brute and Massacre having never won this tournament and Superiority Complex after feeling they were robbed of glory last year. It’s in the lap of the gods now. The match doesn’t quite live up to the hype as Superiority Complex emerge as the victors between two of the greatest tag teams in history. Skinhead catches Brute out for a quick pin. The dream of the Gladiator Legends taking on the Vanguard in the final is over and both Brute and Massacre look devastated
The Mercenaries go over Thunder and Overkill. OPERATION: AMBUSH puts Thunder away. It follows immediately after Vigilante had just been smashed with DECAPITATOR. Naturally Soldier of Fortune storms into the ring to break up the pin. Overkill tries to stop him but the ref (being very brave) tries to stand up to Overkill. For a moment Overkill thought about picking the puny ref up and tossing him aside but instead decides to climb back out into the apron. The Mercenaries have an opening as Soldier of Fortune is then able to grab his rifle prop and send it crashing down on Thunder’s head whilst he covers. The referee turns round to see Thunder almost out cold and Vigilante staggering around. He just assumes some amazing recovery has taken place. The Mercenaries then complete their finisher on him. Overkill confused by what he has seen and too slow to react to the moment. The Vanguard team is fuming and there is a lot of bad blood building between them and the Hitmen
Final:
Superiority Complex continuing to show their greatness as they defeat the Mercenaries. Mumblings that this would be a big test for Superiority Complex given what happened last year and the Mercenbaries surge into the form but they hold their nerve. It’s typical of their style in the way they win. They are certainly not dominant and looking particulary well drilled but the way they stifle their opponent’s offensive moves and constantly look for openings is once again impressive. Skinhead got a brief run of momentum against Vigilante, stings him with BAD ATTITUDE and is trying for the cover quick as a flash. It’s done so quickly the match is over before Vigilante really knew what was happening. First team to win the OTB tag bracket more than once, “the belts are next” shouts Prodigy.

Card 656 – ONLY THE BEST (Singles) – Io Coliseum:
(Some great characters from the GWF past involved with the event. Iron Mane, Blood and Jammer all in attendance as esteemed guests. Defiance are etched in the fed folklore and many older fans go nuts for them. Unfortunately the years haven’t been kind to Jammer as he is barely able to walk and uses a chair to transport himself around. They meet fans, host talks where they reminisce about their careers and then participate in drawing the semi-final pairings. Blood tips Max Shield, who ends up having a strong tournament, for greatness whilst Jammer sees Mandrill as one to watch. Blood gets chosen to make the winning trophy presentation. It’s one tough handshake between him and Spike as they size eachother up before eventually releasing their grips. Maybe some playacting for the cameras)
Added Attraction, Lumberjack match, Monad pinned Marcel de Sade in a thriller. Dreadnaught proving to Doomsayer that the Henchmen are still on the tails of Entropy. Dreadnaught goes in blind but finds that old friends are there to help with Commander Sam, Justice, US. Patriot joining him as lumberjacks. A cluster of mean spirited fans give the FDF grief for agreeing to help Marcel de Sade out. He is still seen as a heel type and hasn’t won the hearts of the fans like Dreadnaught. Commander Sam later defends the FDF decision to assist Marcel de Sade stating that “we did it to help our old friend Dreadnaught. Of course there is always the chance that Marcel de Sade could double cross us but he needed us more than we needed him”. True to his word the FDF fought hard to help de Sade and even assisted him to the point he is turning on THUMBSCREW. Doomsayer is sweating on Monad being able to ride out the pain but he needn’t of worried. Aided by it’s spare arms Monad is able to break the hold. Continued drama as de Sade stays hot threatening an upset and possible more humiliation to be heaped on the Entropy team but then the whole team does a number on him when he falls outside the ring in the wrong part of town. Commander Sam and Justice lead a cavalry charge to engage them all. It’s a wild scene. Amid the melee Monad has reached through the ropes and pulled a groggy looking de Sade back in the ring. He carefully lines up for DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE and takes the match. Monad experiences relief when it see’s it’s name in lights as the proclaimed winner;
First Round:
Max Shield upsets Chaos. Max’s body language suggests he thinks he can beat this monster. He is not intimidated and begins on the front foot with his shield powers helping a great deal. That is until he follows Chaos onto the floor and gets face planted into the ring steps for his trouble. Now it’s the familiar sight of Chaos slowly breaking down his opponent’s reserves with his powerful moves and BOW OF DEFEAT. However, Max does something very few are able to do as he chops Chaos on both sides of the head forcing a release and he lives to tell the tale. Chaos makes a questionable change in offense and decided to mount the turnbuckle. The sight of his huge frame poised and ready to come down on Max is one to behold but then he suffers a wobble. Clearly unhappy with his balance Chaos reaches down to try and steady himself. Max notices and grits his teeth to help himself up and hobble over. Panic suddenly spreads on Chaos as he realises he is in trouble. A tiny push by Max is all it takes to send him toppling. Quick as a flash Max takes advantage of this brief moment of hope and delivers MAXIMUM IMPACT as the big man picks himself up. Nobody can quite believe it as the move results in a pin, least of all Max. With this success he has well and truly announced himself in the GWF and shown all the villains he is a new hero to be reckoned with
Thantos defeated Bishop Hell. Thantos is chomping at the bit to get stuck in and it shows as he produces another masterful performance. He makes short work of Bishop Hell who never recovers from an early stint in MASTERLOCK. Although he forces a release in the hold by getting to the ropes he can barely stand. Within a few minutes he finds himself back in the hold and passes out through the pain. The fairytale continues for Thantos
Spike makes the next round by beating Mandrill comfortably. Mandrill almost gets into a fight with Iron Mane before the match as the Animan legend is seated near the ring entrance. Later on Thakur causes a stir as he shows up in a private viewing booth causing the current occupants to vacate. He sits silently observing showing no emotions. No doubt he will have been impressed by what he sees as Mandrill takes some nasty bumps right in front of him. Spike means business. To be fair to Mandrill he shows he can absorb an awful lot of punishment (whilst offering very little offense up in return). Ultimately he is beaten with MEGADESTROYER and will be unhappy to be shown up by his enemy Max Shield who continues to make the bigger mark in the fed since they both arrived
Vengeance wins a bloody scrap with Raven. Tight match. Raven nearly through with BLADERUNNER but Vengeance kicks out. Venegance then on offense and obsessed with using Eye Cleaver to slow Raven down. The match builds to a big moment as Raven attempts to get the spike smuggled in by Vengeance out of his hands. They clothesline eachother and the weapon goes flying. All hinges on who can recover first and grab hold the of spike. It’s tense but Vengeance just about gets there first, turns and nails Raven with it before following with LETHAL CATAPULT. Raven eliminated and Venegeance must now face Spike
Second Round:
Max Shield easily beats Thantos. In the heat of battle hero friendships are forgotten. They tear into things in a classic match up of experience against youth. On this occasion youth prevails as the hot form of Thantos is brought to a shuddering halt. Confidence is sky high for Max having already seen off Chaos and he needs barely a couple of minutes to see off the old master with MAXIMUM IMPACT
Spike scrapes past Vengeance in an important Civil War battle. Having come up short in the Hardcore tournament the Legends needed this. Although Spike started the match in dominating fashion and looking a likely easy winner he found the cunning of Vengeance was able to not only withstand the battering but also completely change the direction. Cruel little moves here and there sapping away at Spike. Eye Cleaver was again making it’s mark. Before long blood was streaming down Spike’s face and he was having difficulty seeing Vengeance. It was clear the crowd favours the Legends in the Civil War battle as they started to get behind Spike. He responded to the cheers by getting a second wind. Forcing his injured eye open he sees three wobbly visions of Vengeance in front of him. He swings, misses and Vengeance lets out an evil laugh. Someone in front row of the crowd shouts “hit the one in the middle”. Spike obviously hears this because he suddenly connects with the sniggering Vengeance knocking him out. The scene is set for MEGADESTROYER which Spike duly delivers and there is no stopping him now. He fumbles around to find his fallen victim and eventually covers him to win. The outcome means we are now guaranteed to have a new Heavyweight bracket winner. Massive chance for Spike to get this particular monkey off his back
Final:
Spike takes the trophy by beating Max Shield. Spike was sporting a big gash below his right eye but despite this stayed looking remarkably chilled ahead of such a big match. His wealth of experience helping him to stay relaxed . The final fails to reach the heights of some of the earlier matches but it’s still compelling viewing. Fluctuating fortunes for both men with their finishers being used. Spike ends up opting for a running shoulder crash and with fatigue setting in finds Max unable to wriggle out of the covering attempt straight after. Spike looks relieved. OTB has gone well for both Gladiator teams.
