I need to give credit where credit is due...

I have been a big fan of Filsinger Games ever since I got my first COTG set in 1989. When I discovered LOW, I was ecstatic and I purchased every set. When the color indy stuff came out, I thought it was a great move for the company to increase its player base, but it wasn't really my thing. And as COTG went to color, I was one who was saying that they should never go that route with LOW. I wanted everything to stay consistent, and I was also afraid that if we went color, we would lose Steve Stanley, and I was (and am) a big Stanley mark... No disrespect to Werner, of course.

When the announcement was made for the new color LOW starter set, I wasn't surprised by the announcement, but I WAS surprised at how awesome Werner's Harley Race artwork was. I found myself getting a bit excited. And I must say, now that the set is in my hands... That Werner has outdone himself. The art for this set can hold it's own with anything that I have seen produced by Filsinger Games.

Also, big kudos to the stats crew. Just about every card has been improved in some way. I find myself inspired to restart my fed with a focus on the new color cards... (although I will still use B&W as well... too many good wrestlers!)

I have been watching old episodes of Pro Wrestling USA lately, and I think I will start a promotion similar to that, with the WWF, AWA, and NWA all coming together to finally crown 1 undisputed world champion. I may even finally start posting my results.

So, thanks Filsinger Games! You all never cease to amaze. Keep up the good work, and here's to another 30 years!

I was pleasantly surprised to see the art for Randy Savage in the color set. I immediately recognized it from a poster I saw when I was a kid. This is the picture I get in my mind everytime I think of the Macho Man. I never did like the cowboy hat and fringe jacket look for him. I was also glad to see Hawk and Animal looking like the Road Warriors and not the Legion Of Doom. I was afraid the color cards would have the red shoulderpads with black spikes that look like plastic instead of metal. The new cards are exactly the way the Roadies should look. They're ready to snack on danger and dine on death because dead men don't make money. Kudos to Werner and the entire gang at LOW and FG!

Thanks for the kind words guys. I agree that Werner killed the artwork in the set. When the decision was made to include the Macho Man, I knew the exact look that we needed to include. I'm also glad we included the version of the Road Warriors we did, which really is the version that Old School fans love the most. I'm looking forward to seeing what else Werner does wil reimagining the Legends in color going forward.

Nice! Great post, very well said. Good luck with the re-boot; I did the same and started WWF, NWA & AWA feds, each with a primary (HW) belt, secondary belt (IC, US & Light Heavyweight) and respective tag belts. Once a year (game time) I have a 64-man random draw tourney, with Terry Gordy (NWA) winning the first and The Sheik (NWA as well) just winning the second one. Having a blast with the new (and old) cards!

I think everyone is looking forward to him redoing Nick, but I also hope he gets to do Ray Stevens at the same time because I think Ray's art is also really off.

Ray's b&w card, of course, came in the Legends Teams set, and his stats reflect his years as a second banana in some famous AWA tag teams (most famously with Nick). If Ray is redone, I'd rather see the younger blonde bomber of the 1960's who headlined the Cow Palace and was one of the very top singles stars of that era.
