Here is a question for those who have been playing COTG for quite a while.
What are some of your favourite years in GWF history? It's easy to say 2087, 2119 or 2125, but which of the smaller sets had the biggest impact on you?
Looking forward to hearing from you!!

If we are talking about our favorite years in terms of art I have to give it to the Chuck Carter years. To me, Chuck's art is the standard bearer for all other COTG art.
In terms of storyline and characters, I would have to say the late 2090s. There was just a lot of really good characters in that era. Pegasus, Janus, Chaos. Just great guys. And, again to me, guys who weren't just tough guys, they had well developed wants and stories.
Don't get me wrong though, I think 2132 rankup there s as one of the best years ever, but I have a fondness for those earlier times.
Great topic.

The set that confirmed to me at the time that this game was something rare and special. Invasion 2090. First set w updates. Star Warrior, Pulsar Prime, Brute and Massacre, Terak the Barbarian (shocking at the time) and Death Masque. Wargames 2091 w Justice, Spike, Mayhem, Matador of M83, Count Necros, Whiplash, Mr. Galaxy etc...probably the best set ever. Sudden Death 2094 First set w Larry Swank and without Chuck. Absolutely life changing and Earth shaking at the time. The New Order and Raven (2095) were so good that fans accepted this change. Vigilante and Soldier of Fortune too. 2115. Had Godsend and Swarm.. Whatever set MONOLITH debuted in. 2122 I think.

Monolith was 2121.
2091 was a definite favorite. I liked most of the early years though. After that, I liked the 2099-2100, and The End was a good run as well. Modern, my favorite year is 2125.

It's hard to pick a favorite expansion, but anything between 2088-2091 got me excited to play. Maybe it had to do with the age I was when they came out, but everything since hasn't blown me away like those sets did. Of course, being super far behind and now older doesn't help...lol.

War Games 2091, Civil War 2099 (the first year I started playing so always a soft spot for this one), CPC 2105, and Take Over 2112 are my favorites. I frequently go back to reread these.

2090 is my favorite year with the debut of the Eastern Dynasty and the overall set and stories were cool in my view...

The Chuck Carter years were the best years ever for me. I think those characters had some of the best storylines. I take those sets and books out every so often just to relook at them.

For me it was War Games 2091 and Civil War 2009 & 2100 hands down. But, I might be bias towards the Aethrans for my reasons at those times in my teens. Since then I would have to say Black Death 2129 because of the heel turn on Endgame.

Swarm really hit it on the mark with that one. Those sets were definitely great in their own right. I for one liked the 2109-2114 involving Cordanus. That was a great story about a fella who hated wrestling because of how he claimed wasn't treated right. A lot of pent up frustration on his part. But I enjoyed the story nevertheless.
