Rogers absolutely dominated Lane, which comes as little surprise... It's cool to see Jannetty seeded as high as he is and I would love to see an upset here... But, I don't think it's going to happen... Hennig advances - Simply perfect!

Curt Hennig (13) v. Marty Jannetty (20)
Handshake gets the action started. Arm drags keep Jannetty on defense. Chop to the chest is ducked and Jannetty sends Hennig into the ropes. Backdrop is countered with a piledriver. Hennig hits the HENNIG PLEX but cannot get the pin (R7/P5). Sleeper slows the pace and Hennig scores a near fall with a running knee lift (R11/P4). Another knee lift connects as does a rolling neck snap. Jannetty bails and Hennig comes out after him for some ringside brawling. The Axe drops Jannetty and Hennig follows with a perfect standing dropkick for a two count (R9/P5). The Axe connects again and a rolling neck snap is followed by forearm hammers. Jannetty attempts a monkey flip but Hennig counters back with a running knee lift. Sleeper and Jannetty bails to the floor carrying Hennig with him. Hennig cracks Jannetty across the back with a chair earning some solid heat. Running lariat spills Jannetty to the floor. Jannetty crawls back into the ring and Hennig finishes him with a HENNIG PLEX (R7/P8).
Up Next . . .

Great to see Hennig and Jannetty start things off with a touch of class... But, that had no impact on the end result... Hennig wins in a rather one sided bout...
This next match could very likely end in a disqualification... Iron Sheik wins... No doubt!

I was not too surprised to see both Buddy Rogers and Curt Hennig advance and I look forward to seeing how well both will do in the next round. I am going with Pamero Firpo in the next match.

Iron Sheik (12) v. Pamero Firpo (21)
Sheik is out to huge heat and the gets on the mic and tells the fans exactly what he thinks about them. Back and forth with no advantage. Firpo with a knee lift. Sheik reverses a whip to the corner and scores with a kick. Chestbreaker from Sheik followed by forearm hammers to the back from Firpo. Sheik with another chestbreaker and back elbow. Sheik with suplex attack including a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall (R6/P3). Sheik applies the CAMEL CUTCH but Firpo makes the ropes (R8/P6). Sheik is annoyed and tosses Firpo to the floor. Sheik comes out to the floor and cracks Firpo with a chair across the back. Morgan Dollar is quick to call for the bell disqualifying Sheik. Sheik is not pleased and nails Firpo twice more for good measure.
Up Next . . . Jimmy Snuka (5) v. Bruiser Costa (28)

Sweet, Firpo wins, Oooohhh Yeah.
Snuka should take that easily.

Well, I was halfway correct - Had a feeling we were due for a DQ finish... But, I figured Iron Sheik would keep his temper in check long enough for the Wild Bull of the Pampas to get himself disqualified... Fun ending though...
As fun as it would be to see Costa advance, I just can't see him getting the upset over Superfly... Good times!

Thank you for checking out the action and leaving your comments and predictions TTX and Pariah. Jimmy Snuka (5) v. Bruiser Costa (28) The crowd is psyched to see the Superfly in action. Snuka opens with a kick to the stomach but Costa counters with a pair of knee drops and clubbing forearms. Snuka rebounds Costa into a dropkick and a powerslam forces Costa to take a breaker. Flying headbutt rocks the fans and Costa is then tossed to the floor. Costa crawls back into the ring and Snuka strikes with a flying headbutt and then another headbutt. Costa attempts a choke on the ropes but Snuka fires back with a pair of head butts and a vicious chop. SUPERFLY LEAP follows for the three count (R4/P7) Up Next . . . βMacho Manβ Randy Savage (2) v. Blue Meanie (31)

If Macho Man doesn't win, there will likely be a riot. Hoping he'll eventually battle Firpo in the battle of Oooooh Yeah.
