Looks like both of my favorties to win singles gold - Thesz and Magnum T.A. - have fallen to the underhanded tactics of their respective opponents...
Superb job on describing the action in the ring... Really like how you emphasize when a match gets color...
Awesome stuff!

Wrestling from Marigold: The Main Event (Card #6) 05.12.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
- United States Championship Tournament - Bobo Brazil vs. Tommy Rich Bobo Brazil defeated Tommy Rich with a grinding hammerlock at 14:00 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: This opening match is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit and it is a quarter final match in the United States Championship Tournament!
Making his way to the ring right now, hailing from Hendersonville, Tennessee at 248 pounds, "Wildfire" Tommy Rich!
And hit opponent, from Benton Harbor, Michigan, weighing 280 pounds, Bobo Brazil!
This was definitely a case of fan favorites squaring off. The crowd couldn't decide who to cheer for. When Rich was on offense, which was the bulk of the match, the crowd would cheer his holds, but then cheer Bobo's comebacks!
Rich applied the SLEEPER early, but Bobo wasn't worn down enough.
Rich would go up top and score big with a flying cross body! He wore down Bobo some more, but Brazil came back! They went hold for hold, reversing moves and slinging one another into the ropes! It was very exciting and a highly athletic display.
Bobo scored a near fall and then slowed things down with a big bearhug! He'd hit the COCO BUTT for another near fall! He kept grinding and wearing Rich down and then put on a grinding hammerlock and the referee would end up stopping the match as Rich refused to quit, but could no longer fight or escape the hold!
The fans were shocked to see the finish, but Bobo would help the hurting Rich to his feet to a good ovation from the crowd.
After the match, Vince Lloyd grabbed a moment with Bobo.
VL: Bobo, that was a great display!
BRAZIL: Thanks, Vince. It was a hard fight. Tommy Rich is one heck of a wrestler and he brought it to me. I had to lay on him and put all my strength and weigh into him at the end there. But I can't say enough about Rich. He wouldn't give up, but the ref did the right thing. I had that hold and could feel that Rich couldn't fight me any more. I was liable to tear his shoulder out or elbow up. Truth be told, all I'm thinking about right now is becoming the United States Champion.
VL: Bobo, thank you for stopping by and best of luck to you in the next phase of the tournament!
- United States Championship Tournament - Masked Superstar vs. The Destroyer The Destroyer defeated Masked Superstar with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK at 10:30 Match Rating: 3.75 Match Notes: This next match is a United States Tournament Quarter-Final bout! It is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit.
Making his way to the ring, from Parts Unknown and weighting 233 pounds, The Destroyer!
And his opponent, from Atlanta, Georgia, at 269 pounds, Masked Superstar!
The battle of the two masked men played out in exciting fashion.
Superstar had the advantage early and was systematic with his strikes and holds, wearing the Destroyer down.
But Destroyer would rally off the ropes and hit a big backbreaker. He'd go on to hit another and them climbed to the top, but Superstar tossed him to the mat and scored a near fall with his SWINGING NECKBREAKER!
There was still fight left in the Destroyer and in spite of a slight power advantage, Superstar struggled to keep him down. Destroyer hit a desperation shoulder tackle off the ropes and then impressed with an airplane spin for a near fall!
FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK! Superstar has no where to go and taps out to the hold! What a comeback win for the Destroyer!
- Tag Team Championship Tournament - The Road Warriors vs. The Midnight Express This match ended in a draw (Time Limit Draw) at 30:00 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit and it is a semi-final match in the Tag Team Championship Tournament!
Coming to the ring, accompanied by the manager Paul Ellering, hailing from Chicago, Illinois, at a combined weight of 562 pounds, Hawk and Animal, the Road Warriors!
And their opponents, accompanied by James E. Cornette, from the Dark Side, at a combined weight of 472 pounds, Beautiful Bobby, Loverboy Dennis, the Midnight Express!
This match was incredible. The Road Warriors dominated early with their hard-hitting brawling style, even taking things outside.
The managers definitely played their parts. Each distracting the referee at opportune times to avoid disqualification for their team. There were plenty of near falls and double-teams, to boot.
Eaton and Animal were bleeding by the end of it.
As the time limit neared it's expiration, Hawk and Animal had wrested control and hit the DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Condrey!
The bell would ring as the ref went for the count! But it was Jim Cornette that rang it! The timekeeper tries to explain it to the ref but the Midnight Express uses the distraction to their advantage! ROCKET LAUNCHER on Animal!
1... 2... NO! Animal gets the shoulder up!
It's chaos as the referee is being hollered at by Cornette and Condrey corners him!
Animal rolls outside and pulls Eaton out with him! Hawk and Condrey join the brujah! Paul Ellering is stalking Cornette! All hell's broken loose.
The wrestlers are brawling around the ringside area as the referee begins a count!
The bell rings again! This time the time keeper is on his feet telling the ref it's for real. The time limit has expired! Officials have to separate the two teams. What madness!
VL: Fans, fans, we have a time limit draw. Obviously, obviously, we're going to have to get some clarity from our officials and Fred Kohler, because as of right now, The Fantastics do not have a challenge for the finals of our tournament. But what an incredible bout we just saw in spite of the chicanery of the managers. Incredible.
- World Heavyweight Championship Tournament - Frank Gotch vs. Buddy Rogers Buddy Rogers defeated Frank Gotch with a pinning combination at 1:57 Match Notes: Your main event of the evening is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit and it is a semi-final bout in the World's Heavyweight Championship Tournament!
Coming to the ring from Humboldt, Iowa and weighing in at 208 pounds, Frank Gotch!
And his opponent, from Camden, New Jersey, weighing in at 227 pounds, "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers.
This one was shocking. Rogers was shot into the ropes but came off with a shoulder tackle and then hit a jumping knee drop for a near fall. The knee drop to his head clearly had him reeling and off his game, but Gotch continued, even rallying after the atomic drop.
Rogers slapped Gotch in the face! Gotch was irate and blocked the second slap and then shot Rogers into the ropes again, but Rogers was looking to end things and he rolled up Gotch and had the tights! Again!
1, 2, 3! Less than two minutes in! Gotch is livid as Rogers high tails it from the ring.
Vince Lloyd tries to get a word with Gotch, but the grappler from Iowa storms past the booth with murder in his eye...
VL: Ladies and gentlemen, that's all we've got for tonight. It's been an evening long on controversy, but some incredible in-ring action, too. We'll see you next time at the Marigold and hope to get some clarity on the goings on in, and out of, the ring. Until next time.
Overall Card Rating: 4.25

Holy snap! A time limit draw between the Road Warriors and Midnight Express drops a huge question mark into the middle of the World Tag Team title tournament... Will the Fantastics simply be handed the belts? Or will the championship committee come up with a more satisfactory solution? Loving the drama!

Wrestling from Marigold: Championship Wrestling (Card #7) 05.14.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
VL: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another thrilling episode of Wrestling from Marigold! We're bringing you Championship wrestling form the Marigold Arena here in Chicago, Illinois. We have a couple of announcements to start the evening! First off, we have been seeing multiple tournament matches over the past few weeks and it will all come to a head at All Star Wrestling, an extravaganza where we will crown Tag Team champions, a United States champion, and a World's Heavyweight Champion! The International Amphitheater will be the site of this super-card and we can't wait to bring it to you.
Moving on to more pressing matters... After the end of the match between the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors, we were left without a winner due to the time limit expiring. Fred Kohler and his board of directors have decided that the only way to settle things fairly and give the Fantastics the best challengers possible to determine the Tag Team champions, is to have another match. Tonight! And that match will be a 2 our of 3 falls match with a 60 minute time limit! The winner will go on to the championship match at All Star Wrestling!
Lots of exciting news and we can't wait, but lets get things started here at the Marigold with our opening contest, a tag team match!
The Rock'n'Roll Express vs. and Boris Zhukov, Nikolai Volkoff Nikolai Volkoff defeated Ricky Morton with a BACKBREAKER DROP at 23:22 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: Our opening contest is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit!
Making their way to the ring, from Memphis, Tennessee, at a combined weight of 450 pounds, Rick and Robert, The Rock 'n' Roll Express!
And their opponents, from the Soviet Union, weighing in at 611 pounds, Boris Zhukov, Nikolai Volkoff, the Russians!
Some more incredible tag action at the Marigold! They see-sawed for control with the battle of speed and fitness versus brute strength playing out in the squared circle.
The quick tag work from Ricky and Robert was enough to give them an early edge, but the Russians would bounce back after a couple of near falls. Zhukov was hurting, though, in spite of Volkoff's save.
Volkoff would come roaring in and brutalize Robert Gibson, busting him wide open after ramming him into the ring post on the outside!
A bloody Gibson was able to make a desperation tag and Ricky came in like a whirlwind!
He was on fire, taking the fight to the Russians and soon Boris Zhukov was wearing the crimson mask too!
The Rock 'n' Roll Express seemed to have the advantage and Boris was in big trouble, but a misstep cost Ricky big time and Boris made the tag to Volkoff who came in and worked up to two consecutive BACKBREAKER DROPS to score a hard-fought win!
What a match! Ricky and Robert are hurting, but Volkoff has to help his bloody partner from the ringside area. It's almost hard to tell the winners from the losers in this one.
- United States Championship Semi-Final - Curt Hennig vs. The Destroyer Curt Hennig defeated The Destroyer with a HENNIG PLEX at 2:30 Match Notes: The following contest is a semi-final match in the United States Championship Tournament! It is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit.
Introducing first, from Robbinsdale, Minnesota, at 256 pounds, Curt Hennig!
And his opponent, from Parts Unknown and weighing 233 pounds, The Destroyer!
The Destroyer took the fight to Hennig big time! But a reversal of fortune outside the ring, saw the match come to a quick end after two consecutive HENNIG PLEXes.
Vince Lloyd got a word with Hennig after.
CH: Now Vince, that was just about perfect.
VL: Curt, I can't argue with your finishing maneuver there, but the Destroyer was bringing the fight to you until you rolled outside and slammed him headfirst into the time-keeper's table. I don't know if you can call that exactly fair.
CH: Fair, Vince? Fair? I executed a plan and I executed it to near perfection. My only regret is that it took two Hennig Plexes to finish off the masked dope!
VL: Don't you think there's a chance that those kind of tactics are going to either spoil things or get you in trouble in the future?
CH: Vince, if there had been anything wrong with what I did, surely the referee would've called me out on it. As it stands, I'm one match away from the United States Championship. And that, Vince, that would be absolutely perfect.
- United States Championship Semi-Final - Bobo Brazil vs. Tully Blanchard Tully Blanchard defeated Bobo Brazil with a hit with foreign object at 12:29 Match Rating: 3.25 Match Notes: Our next contest is scheduled for one fall with a 30 minute time limit and it is a semi final match in the United States Championship Tournament!
Making his way to the ring, accompanied by the manager James J. Dillon, from San Antonio, Texas and weighing 228 pounds, Tully Blanchard!
And his opponent, from Benton Harbor, Michigan, weighing 280 pounds, Bobo Brazil.
The crowd shows lots of hate for Blanchard and quite a bit of love for Bobo, but it's nothing compared to the reaction Magnum TA gets when he joins Bobo at ringside! Dillon complains to the ref, but after issuing instructions to both Magnum and Dillon to stay out of the match, he allows them both to stay.
Blanchard was like a man possessed! He took the fight to Bobo big time and in spite of the size disparity, he held his own at nearly every exchange early, even scoring a couple of near falls. Of course, Blanchard relished the chance to dip into the tights and he busted Bobo with it!
Magnum was up on the apron complaining and it may have stopped Blanchard from making a cover, but it also gave him the chance to do it again! Bobo is a bloody mess!
But Brazil would rally back and begin taking the fight back to Tully! It looked like Bobo had a shot as he took the fight to Tully with some huge punches and then dropped him with a piledriver!
Blanchard rolls out... Brazil goes to follow him... Dillon is distracting the ref, but here comes Magnum! The fans are going nuts, but Blanchard digs into the tights and wollops Brazil even harder than before with the knux!
He rolls him in, the ref turns around... 1, 2, 3!
What a miscarriage of justice! Magnum had the best of intentions, but you gotta wonder if his presence ended up hurting Bobo in the long run.
Vince grabs a minute with Dillon and Blanchard as Magnum tends to Bobo.
VL: Mr. Dillon, what do you have to say for your charge after that blatant display?
JJ: What does Fred Kohler have to say for that abhorrent display by Magnum T.A.! He put his hands on me! This suit cost more than his motorcylce! This watch, more than his home! And he puts his hands on me! Let me tell you something, pal, Tully Blanchard is exactly where he should be and that's one step away from being the United States Champion!
TB: And Magnum T.A., you know what? You can cry me a river, because not only am I the best thing going today, but Tull Blanchard International will be branching out soon enough and you might think you're a big man, but by the time you see what's standing across from you wearing all the gold, you'll know exactly where you belong.
JJ: And it's definitely not in a ring with Tully Blanchard!
Magnum has made his way to the booth and Tully and JJ head for the hills.
TA: Vince! I've just seen Bobo Brazil getting treated by the doctors. Bobo Brazil. That's a man you don't expect to need medical attention after a match, but when a yellow belly coward like Blanchard hits him 3 or 4 times with a pair of knux, there's only so much a man can take. So, Blanchard, you better have eyes in the back your skull, because sooner or later you're gonna get what's comin' to ya. I guarantee it!
- 2/3 Falls - The Midnight Express vs. The Road Warriors Bobby Eaton defeated Hawk with a ROCKET LAUNCHER at 16:15 Bobby Eaton defeated Hawk with a ROCKET LAUNCHER at 39:21 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: The following contest is a two our of three falls match with a 60 minute time limit and it is a semi-final rematch in the Tag Team Championship Tournament!
These two teams are magic together.
This was an incredible back and forth match that was heated from the get go with plenty of brawling on the outside and a couple of times that saw foreign objects and managers come into play.
Early on they jockeyed for position, but eventually the Road Warriors would dominate and beat Condrey down, but the match went outside and the Midnights used a chair while Cornette distracted the ref!
They were able to come back big and event hit a finisher, but it wasn't enough and Animal was able to kick out.
Things see sawed again, but a defensive tag to Eaton changed the complexion of the match. Hawk was sent into the post and split wide open!
He still kicked out of two finishers! It was incredible! Finally a ROCKET LAUNCHER put him away for the 3 count and the first fall goes to the Midnights.
Somehow Hawk was able to make enough a comeback in the second fall to tag his partner in and Animal took the fight to Eaton and Condrey, though he was basically on his own at this point.
Condrey was in big trouble, but still survived a POWER SLAM!
Eaton was tagged in, but Animal and Hawk were able to double team him and had him on the ropes... Then Animal went charging into the corner and Eaton moved! Animal launched over the corner and hit headfirst into the turnbuckle! He too was bloodied and the Road Warriors were in trouble more than ever!
Animal and Hawk weren't going quietly into the night, though and rallied one last time, but it wasn't enough and a Double Goozle and ROCKET LAUNCHER later, they were able to get the win in an extremely hard-fought war!
Cornette squealed with delight as his exhausted team left the ring and the bloody Road Warriors tried to regroup with their manager in the ring.
VL: Folks, what a match! What a match. That's all the time we have-
(Cornette runs by the booth screaming)
JC: These are your tag team champions right here, Vince! Tommy Rogers, Bobby Fulton, you punks! Watch out, because the Midnight Express is coming for you!
Overall Card Rating: 4.25

Bobby Eaton 2017.....that feels like such a modern version of how to name a wrestler. Fun show as usual. Haha! I totally forgot about that in the editing. Alas. I've edited it to a less "modern" sounding and official Bobby Eaton. Maybe I should've just done Earl Robert...

Unbelievable victory for Cornette's boys and I'm really looking forward to their encounter with the Fantastics to determine the inaugural tag champs... And it looks like Blanchard's underhanded tactics are potentially paving the way to gold... Hope he knows that he's gonna have to pay the piper at some point... And that piper's name is Magnum TA... Absolutely entertaining!

Wrestling from Marigold: The Main Event (Card #8) 05.19.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
- Show Open - JB: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Wrestling from Marigold. This is the Main Event and we have some incredible action ready for you this evening.
VL: That's right, Jack. We're going to see the Rock 'n' Roll Express take on the Russians in a rematch from our last card. Can Ricky and Robert come out on top this time?
JB: Vince, your guess is as good as mine, but we both know who these fans want to see winning. And let's not forget our main event! Randy 'Macho Man' Savage will take on Harley Race, and I cannot wait.
VL: Yessir, it's going to be an incredible spotlight on the fantastic talent we're bringing you every week. Of course, it is all building to the huge card, All Star Wrestling! This Sunday at the International Amphitheatre we will crown a World's Heavyweight champion, Tag Team champions, and the United States champion!
JB: Will it be Nick Bockwinkel or Buddy Rogers? Tully Blanchard or Curt Hennig?
VL: They're sure to be hotly contested, without a doubt! In fact, we've got Fred Kohler here with us. Fred, would you like to talk a little about the card.
FK: Thank you, Vince. Jack. This Sunday is a huge event for us and we are bringing the best action in the world to our fans. In addition to those huge title matches, and what can be bigger, really? We will have a unique opportunity for two young talents. Brad Armstrong from Georgia and Sam Houston from Texas will compete in an Earn Your Spot match! The winner will be given a contract to appear on Wrestling from Marigold, the loser, will go back home. We'll also have a number 1 contender's match for the tag titles between the Road Warriors and the Dream Team. The Dream Team have been acquired by the manager Jimmy Hart, by the way. And we'll see Bruiser Brody in action in a rematch against Tommy Rich. Brody's comments did not go unnoticed, but you have to earn your spot here, so if he beats Rich, I'll take his challenge under consideration and put him in the pool for championship contenders.
VL: All right, making them earn it. I like it.
FK: Finally, I want to say that the World's Heavyweight Championship match and the Tag Team championship match will be contested in 2 out of 3 falls rules! The Fantastics and the Midnight Express are sure to be a spectacular contest and this will only make it more so. As for Buddy Rogers, I'll be watching him. We all know how he got to the title match, and I won't stand for any tights holding in the biggest match of our card. Of course, I'm not oblivious to Nick Bockwinkel and his manager, Bobby Heenan either.
JB: Good to hear, Fred, good to hear. This is going to be incredible. I'm sure we'll have a full card announcement by the end of the evening, right?
FK: That's right. Don't miss this, fans.
VL: All right, thank you Mr. Kohler. Now, let's go the ring for our opening contest!
Mister X vs. Magnum T.A, Magnum T.A, defeated Mister X with an abdominal stretch at 14:16 Match Rating: 3.25 Match Notes: Magnum came out on fire and planted Mr. X with a BELLY TO BELLY, but what is this? JJ Dillon is out at ringside!
Magnum is distracted, but keeps the pressure up in spite of missing out on the pin fall.
The action spilled outside and Dillon handed Mr. X something... He's distracting the ref...
Magnum is blasted is and hurting!
Mr. X tries to finish him of with a big elbow, but Magnum comes back and strings together some big forearms and keeps the pressure on, but JJ continues to offer a distraction at ringside.
Eventually, Magnum locks in an Abdominal Stretch after laying in a lot of punishment and X taps.
Magnum immediately leaves the ring to give chase to Dillon, but Blanchard jumps him from behind!
Here comes Tony Atlas! Blanchard and Dillon head for the hills!
Vince Lloyd gets the victor in the booth...
TA: Vince, all due respect to Mr. X, but we know that match should've ended a lot sooner than it did! And we all know why it didn't! JJ Dillon! You come down here to "scout" my opponent? You came down here to be a thorn in my side! And Tully Blanchard! TB International! I've said it before and I'll say it again, you're gonna get what's coming to you.
The Rock'n'Roll Express vs. and Nikolai Volkoff, Boris Zhukov Robert Gibson defeated Nikolai Volkoff with an enzugiri at 6:33 Match Rating: 2.50 Match Notes: After their loss to the Russians, Ricky and Robert wanted another shot and this match was a very different story!
Volkoff and Zhukov used power early, but the Rock n Roll Express came back big and hit their patented double dropkicks on Zhukov. Volkoff made the save and a brawl broke out. The Russians had a short-lived advantage and Gibson then came back with the Gibson Leglock and spinning toehold on Volkoff!
Volkoff could barely walk and Gibson clocked him with an enzugiri while Ricky cut off Zhukov to get a quick 1, 2, 3!
Good win for the Rock 'n' Roll Express evening this series at one match apiece!
Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Iron Sheik Iron Sheik defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a CAMEL CLUTCH at 6:49 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: They both hit some big moves to start things off, but a well-timed reversal for Iron Sheik spelled disaster for Hacksaw.
Sheik took him outside and nearly scored with a count-out. He loaded up the boot and had Duggan a bloody mess in no time!
In a testament to Duggan's toughness, though, he was able to withstand multiple CAMEL CLUTCH attempts.
Another loaded boot and a neck breaking clothesline was followed with yet another application of the CAMEL CLUTCH.
Blood pouring from his head, Duggan couldn't hold on any longer and the Iron Sheik secured victory.
After the match, Iron Sheik spat on Hacksaw and laid into him with a few more boots, but once again, Mr. USA, Tony Atlas makes a save! Very interesting...
VL: Fans, I'm going to try to get a word here with Mr USA... Tony, Tony, do you have a minute?
ATLAS: Sure I do, Vince. Sure I do. You know, what we just saw out here and what we saw earlier... I can't stand for that. And neither should these good people out here. I hear all these rumblings about Tully Blanchard and his TB International group... Well, the way I figure it, if Iron Sheik and his Russian pals want to step up, I think I can get some partners together, Hacksaw and Magnum, and we can have ourselves a 6-man tag match at All Star Wrestling! What do you say?
VL: Well, fans, there you have it! A challenge laid out for the super show at the International Amphitheatre! I do have to ask, though, we've got no confirmation of this, are the Russians and Iron Sheik in league with Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon? Hopefully we'll get a clearer picture soon enough.
Harley Race vs. Randy Savage Randy Savage defeated Harley Race with a FLYING ELBOW DROP at 17:19 Match Rating: 4.50 Match Notes: This was a classic contest between two greats!
They jockeyed for position, exchanging blows. Race got the duke and was able to put the pressure on, but Savage came back and ended up dropping two knees for a near fall!
Race was able to battle back as the titanic struggle continued. They jockeyed briefly and then Race took firm control with the Indian Deathlock! VERTICAL SUPLEX for a near fall!
PILEDRIVER! That's gotta be it... 1... 2... NO! Savage gets the shoulder up. Race can't believe it.
The match continued as the scales tipped back and forth multiple times, thought Race seemed to be getting the edge ever so slightly.
Savage would then come back after a kick in the corner and smack Race right in the face! Race was shocked and stumbled back! Savage hit a knee drop and Race rolled out... Diving axe handle from the top to the outside!!!
Savage rolls him in! 1... 2... NO!
Savage can't believe it and things spill outside once again! Savage whips Race into the guardrail and then pancakes him with a lariat! He rolls Race in and goes up top... FLYING ELBOW DROP!
1, 2, 3!
What a win for Savage! You can bet Fred Kohler and the board will be looking at this when it comes time to determine contenders for the World's Heavyweight Champion!
Overall Card Rating: 3.44
