Wrestling from Marigold: Championship Wrestling 05.28.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
- Show Open - VL: Fans welcome to another evening of world class wrestling action from the Marigold! We wanted to start the evening with an update on the condition of Mr USA, Tony Atlas. After the vicious attack at the hands of the Russians and Iron Sheik, Atlas’ doctors have confirmed he will be out of action until at least July first!
JB: Terrible news, Vince, just terrible. However, Fred Kohler, upon hearing this news, made the decision to suspend Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Boris Zhukov AND Ivan Koloff for the 5 weeks!
VL: So there you have it fans. One has to wonder if the rumors of their being a part of this nascent group, Tully Blanchard International, are true and how it impacts Blanchard and Dillon.
JB: Well, you might not have to wonder long…
JJ: That’s right, Jack. Welcome now, the greatest professional wrestler on the Marigold, your United States Champion, Tully Blanchard! Now let me make something clear to you two. TBI is indeed a faction, you might say, running here at the Marigold. Membership is very exclusive and I cannot comment one way or another on the Russians or the Iron Sheik. What I can say is that guys like Tony Atlas and, yes, everyone’s favorite loser, Magnum T.A. are not TBI material, nor are they worth my client’s time.
TB: That’s right! And while we’re on the subject of Magnum, I want to let that chump know he can’t run with me now, tomorrow, or any other day! He can’t even win a title shot, much less have a prayer of beating me. And speaking of title shots… All I keep hearing about this past week is DDP and how one more win will get him a shot at this gold belt… Well, keep dreaming, pal! All the fancy moves in your arsenal are nothing for the brains and intestinal fortitude that I possess!
VL: Tully, I have to ask, in spite of your manager’s comments, what are your plans for this Blanchard International group? Do you have any other members? Can we have some names?
JJ: I told you we’re not talking about that! When the time comes and you need to know, you’ll know. Until then, just know there’s not a better place to be than in TBI and you could only be so lucky to share the same space as this man right here!
Sam Houston vs. Ace Orton Ace Orton defeated Sam Houston with a reverse DDT over knee at 17:45 Match Rating: 4.50 Match Notes: What a way to open the night! In a match that nearly exhausted its 20 minute time limit, these two men gave it everything they had.
Bob Orton Jr makes his debut for the promotion, while Sam Houston is making his debut at the Marigold, and neither wanted to give an inch.
Orton started off by working the headlock, but then Houston exploded with some hi impact offense and would work his way up to the BULLDOG after Orton tried to bail from the ring! He would get the shoulder up, though, and Houston was shocked, but went right back to it and hit another BULLDOG! Orton's foot on the ropes! A third BULLDOG! 1... 2... NO! Unreal! Houston is frustrated and begins peppering Orton with elbows.
Orton has been busted open! Houston slows his pace a bit and starts working a toehold and then an armlock, but Orton won't give up or give in.
Orton explodes with a lariat out of no where for a near fall! Somehow, through the blood and fatigue, Orton is able to string together some offense and then hits the Orton Bomb followed by a SUPERPLEX!
1... 2... NO! Incredible!
Orton tosses Houston out, but doesn't follow as both men try to catch a breather. It may have been a mistake, though as Houston miraculously gets a second wind!
He takes Orton down with an arm lock, but then misses a knee smash and Orton makes him pay big time! He peppers him with blows and then hits a reverse DDT over the knee that finally scores the win.
Bob Orton Jr has made a big statement with a gutsy performance here!
Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito vs. Les Thatcher and Scott Casey Les Thatcher defeated Mr. Fuji with a STUMP PULLER at 17:46 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: Awesome tag match that, once again, nearly exhausted the time limit.
Thatcher tried to dictate a slow pace with Fuji, but a tag on defense changed the complexion of the match entirely and soon Thatcher was fighting to stay alive as the team of Fuji and Saito tore into him.
Fuji even hit his MIDDLE ROPE SPLASH, but Casey was able to make the save!
A hot tag brought Casey into the match for the first time and he was able to score near falls on Fuji, even hitting his BULLDOG finisher.
The action see sawed at a moments notice, but the pendulum kept swinging back and forth with near falls amassing and the audience on the edge of their seats!
The finish was wild! Saito seemed moments away from putting Casey out, but a double-team backfired and Casey made the tag to Thatcher. Casey hit a backbreaker and Thatcher came off the top with an elbow to his throat!
STUMP PULLER from Thatcher! Saito is still down from the backfire and Fuji taps out!
Great match!
The Destroyer vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan The Destroyer defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK at 11:00 Match Rating: 3.25 Match Notes: Good match. Hacksaw came on strong early, but Destroyer would kick out of a FLYING SPEAR and then work his way back into the match with some heavy offense.
He targeted the back and legs and eventually slapped on his patented FIGURE FOUR to get the victory!
Diamond Dallas Page vs. Masked Superstar Diamond Dallas Page defeated Masked Superstar with a DIAMOND CUTTER at 7:43 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Another intense matchup in an evening of intense matchups!
Page came out swinging, but Superstar capitalized with a big lariat out of the corner and slapped on the COBRA HOLD!
Page made the ropes and Superstar had to release the hold, but Superstar kept going and worked up to a SWINGING NECKBREAKER and still DDP got the shoulder up!
More near falls and another COBRA HOLD still couldn't get the job done and Page's resiliency was astounding and winning over the Chicago crowd!
Page ducked a Superstar Clothesline and hit a DIAMOND CUTTER out of no where! 1... 2... NO!
Page has to use the corner to climb up to his feet, clearly hurting... Superstar is up on wobbly legs too... DIAMOND CUTTER! 1, 2, 3!
What a win by Page! He's the new #1 contender to the United States Championship!
VL: Ladies and gentlemen, I've got to get a word with Page, here... Dallas, what a gutsy performance.
DDP: Vince... Little winded, man... Hurting... But there's one thing... One thing you can bet on with DDP... Is that outta no where... When you least expect it... BANG! And Tully Blanchard... That's exactly what you're going to get!
VL: There you have it, fight fans. We'll be back next time from the Marigold with more incredible action!
Overall Card Rating: 4.00

Wrestling from Marigold: The Main Event 06.02.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
Jimmy Snuka vs. Magnum T.A, Magnum T.A, defeated Jimmy Snuka with a roll up at 10:39 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Magnum would need eyes in the back of his head as JJ Dillon came to ringside!
Snuka fought dirty early on and it led to a big advantage, but Magnum would fight back. They'd see saw a bit, but Snuka seemed to come out ahead on nearly every exchange in spite of trading near falls.
Things spilled outside and Dillon had the audacity to hop onto the apron out of no where while Snuka broke the rules and walloped Magnum in the back with a chair!
Back in he tried to put him away, but it wasn't happening. Snuka came off the top and Magnum was able to roll through the cross body to get the 1, 2, 3!
Magnum wasted no time in going after Dillon much to the fans' delight.
The Fantastics vs. and Brutus Beefcake, Greg Valentine Bobby Fulton defeated Brutus Beefcake with a FANTASTIC FLIP at 10:01 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: A wild match with plenty of chicanery from Jimmy Hart & the Dream Team.
Fulton was hit with the megaphone when it seemed Beefcake was on his last legs. The Fantastics were in trouble, but mounted a big come back thanks to Rogers swift work in the ring and was able to hit the FANTASTIC FLIP so Fulton could get the 1, 2, 3!
Curt Hennig vs. Bobo Brazil Bobo Brazil defeated Curt Hennig with a COCO BUTT at 8:48 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Good match. Curt Hennig came out alone, but stopped halfway down the aisle and then turned to welcome Bobby Heenan as his new manager!
Brazil didn't seem concerned and after receiving a slap to the face was on fire the whole match. Hennig had a few flurries and hit his big running knee lift a couple times, he capitalized with the HENNIG PLEX, but couldn't get it done!
Heenan, already having interfered by distracting the ref, took a more direct approach out of the ring as a wild brawl erupted and Bobo got the better of his newest charge. Bobo was having none of it and clotheslined him over the guardrail!
Back inside, Bobo would hit two consecutive COCO BUTTS to get the 1, 2, 3 on a bleeding Curt Hennig.
After suffering nothing but defeats since making it to the US Title finals, you have to wonder what's next for Hennig. Bobo on the other hand finds himself in a unique position and perhaps a US Title shot won't be out of the question with a few more wins.
Randy Savage vs. Lou Thesz This match ended in a draw (Time Limit Draw) at 30:00 Match Rating: 5.00 Match Notes: This match was incredible. It truly had everything and both men poured out their blood, sweat, and tears to try and snatch that #1 contender spot to the World's Heavyweight Champion, Buddy Rogers.
They chain wrestled at the outset, see-sawing back and forth with a mix of holds and strikes.
Savage eventually got the advantage and went on a crazy tear. He hit his signature flying axe-handle from the top to the outside that had the fans leaping to their feet!
Thesz would battle back, tho, and nearly seal the deal with his THESZ PRESS!
They continued to battle back and forth and after things would spill outside and devolve to a wild brawl, Thesz was busted open after being shoved into the post!
Savage was whipped into the guardrail, but he reacted just in time to dump Thesz into the first row of chairs! They brawled into the audience and barely made it back in the ring in time to avoid a double count out.
At this point the match see-sawed back and forth as they exchanged big bombs and went for a fall. Eventually, Savage was busted open too!
Both men, wearing the crimson mask, attempted everything they could to put the other away. Savage even got away with one on the outside, smashing Thesz over the back with a chair!
Thesz came roaring back with a lariat out of the corner, but Savage went on to do the same!
The war of attrition seemed to be winding down as Thesz was able to toss Savage from the top and then hit the THESZ PRESS, but Savage kicked out!
THESZ PRESS again! 1... 2... NO! Savage kicked out! How?!?
Savage came back, but then Thesz battled back... We're in the last minute or so of the time limit!
Lariat out of the corner on a charging Thesz! Savage hits a knee drop... He's going up top! FLYING ELBOW DROP! That's got to be it! 1... 2... NO! Thesz got the shoulder up! Thesz got the shoulder up!
The bell rings! Unreal! They've exhausted the time limit!
Wait a minute... there's a disturbance in the crowd... It's Bruiser Brody!
Brody is in the ring he smashed the bloodied, exhausted competitors with a chain and then climbs one corner! KING KONG KNEE DROP on Thesz! He climbs the opposite and hits another on Savage!
VL: What a scene! Folks, we are out of time, but Brody will have to answer for his actions! Who will be the number one contender? Incredible match from Savage and Thesz! We'll see you next time!
Overall Card Rating: 3.63

A spectacular main event with a BLOODY brilliant conclusion... Thesz and Savage pull out all the stops while Brody capitalizes on the carnage... Gotta wonder if a three-way dance is coming our way...
Very entertaining show!

Wrestling from Marigold: Championship Wrestling 06.04.2070 from Marigold Arena, Chicago, IL
Highlights of Thesz/Savage from The Main Event are shown, including the wild aftermath with Brody!
VL: Welcome fans to another edition of Championship Wrestling from the Marigold! You just saw the wildman, Bruiser Brody, attacking the potential challengers to Buddy Rogers' Wold's Heavyweight Championship. Fred Kohler has said that he'll have a statement in reaction to this on the next episode of the Main Event. In the meantime, we've got a great show for you tonight, so let's get to the ring!
Bobby Shane vs. Ace Orton Bobby Shane defeated Ace Orton with a loaded knee smash at 0:36 Match Rating: 0.10 Match Notes: Bobby Shane hit Orton with a flying crossbody at the bell and then loaded up the knee for a smash to the side of the head!
Cover! 1, 2, 3! Whoa!
Shane leaps to his feet and parades around the ring as though he's just won the World's Heavyweight Championship.
Vince grabs a word with him.
BS: I told you, Vince! I told you! You are looking at a king! I belong here at the Marigold and I belong at the top! It's only a matter of time before everyone in the locker room knows it!
Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Jimmy Snuka Jimmy Snuka defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a SUPERFLY LEAP at 9:49 Match Rating: 2.75 Match Notes: Solid, if nothing special. It was mostly Snuka, but Hacksaw did come back to life after surviving a SUPERFLY LEAP and they traded blows in an intense exchange that Snuka got the better of.
He dropped Duggan with a big backbreaker and then hit his second SUPERFLY LEAP for the 1, 2, 3.
The Destroyer vs. Magnum T.A, The Destroyer defeated Magnum T.A, with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK at 19:41 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: Great match. They jockeyed for position early with some nice transitions, but Destroyer came out on top and began stretching Magnum and keeping things on the mat. Magnum was hurting after the bow and arrow hold wore down his midsection.
But he came back with a flurry of strikes and some big moves of his own, including a pair of shoulder blocks from the top!
He took to the mat to show the Destroyer he's not the only one with the technical skills.
Magnum seemed to have the match in hand as Destroyer was worn down, but a sunset flip backfired and Destroyer wrapped him up for a near fall.
He went back to work with the bow and arrow and Magnum was in excruciating pain.
Action spilled outside and while the ref warned the Destroyer, another masked man clipped Magnum in the knee with a pipe!
Destroyer, not knowing what happened, rolled him in and seeing Magnum clutching the leg applied his patented hold to secure an immediate tapout.
Magnum is being helped to the back, but there's little doubt who the masked man was...
VL: Is Tully Blanchard really that scared of Magnum TA? To resort to tactics like that! I don't know folks... It's terrible. Only a matter of time before Magnum gets his retribution. We can only hope his knee is okay after that cowardly att-
As Magnum is being helped to the back two men come through the curtain, also wearing masks! One is huge! Got to be over 400 pounds! The other much more trim and scuplted. Magnum, on one leg is ready for a fight… Officials are trying to keep the masked men at bay… Through the crowd comes DDP! And here’s Hacksaw Duggan!
JJ Dillon is with the announce team!
JJ: I told you there would come a time! Vince, these two men are the first official members of TB International! So you can take your rumors and guesses and toss them in the garbage, which is exactly where those three punks are going to end up!
VL: Hiding behind masks, Dillon? Just like Blanchard earlier?
JJ: Wait a minute, Vince! You don’t know that was Tully Blanchard! TBI will not stand for baseless accusations! They’re only wearing masks because their identities must be kept secret until the time is right for contractual reasons. No one is hiding! And let me be clear, no one is afraid.
JJ leaves to stand behind his new charges. He shouts “come on boys, we’ve made our statement” and the two men go to the back as DDP and Hacksaw talk to Magnum in the ring and then raise his arms to an ovation from the crowd.
The Fantastics vs. The Rock'n'Roll Express Robert Gibson defeated Tommy Rogers with a slingshot stomp at 9:30 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: This match would help to determine the next in line for a tag team title shot! Knowing that the Road Warriors will get a chance at the Midnight Express next, the Fantastics and The Rock N Roll Express both have their preferred target in the Midnights, but neither would shirk away from the Road Warriors if that were the case.
Ricky and Bobby chain wrestled in the opening moments, but Fulton got the duke and took it to the mat.
It wasn't long before some strong double team work from the Fantastics had Morton reeling, but he'd make a comeback after a failed attempt from the top by Rogers and then it was all Rock N Roll!
Ricky and Robert were a well oiled machine, peppering Rogers with all of their best double team offense and snagging a couple of nearfalls, but Rogers even got the shoulder up after their patented DOUBLE DROPKICKS.
A slingshot stomp, however, would seal the deal and set Ricky & Robert on course for a Tag Team title opportunity!
As they celebrated, Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton with Cornette hollering instructions ambushed the contenders and started a beatdown!
Here come Hawk and Animal for the save! They run off the champs and help the Rock N Roll Express to their feet... Stereo clotheslines! Hawk and Animal stand over the fallen Morton and Gibson as Ellering nods his approval!
VL: What a brouha to end the evening, folks! We'll try to get a word with all involved in the coming weeks, but this thing has gotten very interesting! Will it be the Midnight Express defending against the Rock N Roll Express, or will the Road Warriors wrest the titles from Eaton and Condrey? Stay tuned, fight fans as we continue to bring you the best wrestling action from the Marigold!
Overall Card Rating: 2.53

The Road Warriors make the save... Just so they can deliver a cheap shot of their own... Oh, snap! Looking forward to the inevitable in-ring confrontation between them and the Rn'R Express...
Another crazy upset victory for Bobby Shane... Ugh! Looks like he ain't going anywhere anytime soon...
Lots of exciting action, my friend... Awesome work!
