How do you handle fatigue tokens in tournaments when a wrestler wrestle more than once in a night. Do you start back at the original PIN rating or do you add some compared to what happen in a wrestler's previous match?

I've done a few things...
If the first match was not a very long or grueling match I might start it over. But I usually try and keep it real and at least carry some over. But I do try to factor in rest time and may give 1 or 2 back depending on how many matches are in between. Now if someone gets creamed or injured in a match but still manages to win I may not take back any tokens....
Just go with what feels right thats what I do with custom rules.

I start back at the original pin rating and I'll explain why.
In Professional Wrestling there is an aura of the unbelievable. Does anyone really think Rey Mysterio would win a Royal Rumble or that Jeff Hardy's suton bomb would hurt anyone? With wrestling its about believing in the unbelievable, so someone could have hard fought match after hard fought match and still defeat a fresh opponent later in the card, IMO.

I must say I have never thought about it like that. That's a really good explaination! I guess I like some 'realism' in my stuff but that's just me  . This is a prime 'problem'/issue I have with the POW. If you go with the unbelievable in the wrestling aspect, the MMA seems like that people are being wussies when they can take these huge slams but one with less impact in the MMA could just plain knock them out......seems contradictory. |

I pretty much never carry fatigue over in tournaments. Like jmello said, this is wrestling and the only time fatigue is made a big deal of is when it's part of the story, a guy has a grueling match while his next opponent didn't or had a bye; or they do an injury angle and the wrestler keeps going anyway. If you keep too much fatigue by the final the match ends real fast because pins are so high at the start.

I had this problem a bit as well, but I think I have some good explanations. They work for me, anyway!  Firstly, I always view my wrestling, with the exception of the aCe because it is a war in the BfC era, with less striking, usually more techniques and 'wear-down' holds, and usually a bit more restraint because the object of the match is most likely a pin. Most of the times the heels aren't murderers or psychos, so they just cheat at the 'sport' of pro wrestling, meaning that they usually are not trying to seriously injure their opponent. With the POW, I don't even really consider it MMA because I always try to give it the appearance of more like a no-holds-barred fight. In addition to the more gruesome methods of victory (KO, Blood Loss, Breakage, Submission) this makes the MMA aspect seem like a different entity altogether, inflicting much different types of punishment. But, it still keeps Pro Wrestling seeming like an excruciatingly tough sport because most of the time, blood loss, KO's, and injuries will NOT end a wrestling match. Also, there are really no rope break rules in the MMA portion, making even the slightest submission maneuvers seem much more effective. If you remove rope breaks from wrestling, the same thing happens. Even the slightest submission move could be a match ender. Concerning your specific argument, you could say that the mats are different between MMA and wrestling because they are. In the GWF, because of the structure of the federation, you could argue that they attempt to keep their surfaces softer to avoid serious injuries, after all, they don't want Endgame out of action for a year because he got suplexed. Whereas MMA is not centered specifically around the slam aspect, so the POW wouldn't necessarily want to complete nerf one aspect of the fight. Hope that all helps you or anyone else. But, back on topic, what does everyone do about fatigue in 2/3 falls matches or Iron Man Matches? |

Good points Hyde! Forgot about the rope rule and other things like mats and stuff, next time I run a tournament I'll probably have clean slate minus special circumstances.
Never ran an Iron Man, but have ran 2/3 falls. I do keep the fatigue tokens because I play the fights back to back, if I didn't do back to back I might think about changing it now.

2/3 falls I do keep the fatigue. But after the pin/submission in the first fall, I don't add another coin to the losing wrestler. same if it goes to a third fall. Just so the pin rating doesn't get even higher, and the wrestler that wins the fall starts on lvl 2 offense next fall.
