Yeah, no prediction here. This time I don’t know who is more likely.

Crusher and Duggan really tore it up! Duggan must have had dozens of matches like this where he is on the verge of winning and it ends up with someone DQ'ed, or outright loss! He always gives exciting matches for my feds and he is a constant fixture of my roster. Tough to keep him on the bench when he creates all that excitement. On the other hand did not realize Koloff-Blanchard was so one-sided , assuming the match was a quick one?
Good luck with the rest of the tournament Crusher, as I like his new color card!
Now onto the picks and am going with Valiant on this one. Whether he is a tag-team co-holder with brother Johnny or heating up the mid-card with feuds he sort of reminds me a little of Duggan where he is always in the mix. Go Boogie!

Thanks for the question Humanoids4eva . If anything, the match between Koloff and Blanchard was a perhaps too long. Simply put, it just fell short of my expectations. Robert Gibson (13) v. “Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant (52) Valiant goes for the eyes but Gibson counters sending Valiant into the corner but Valiant catches a charging Gibson with a crushing clothesline. Gibson bails and Valiant follows and they trade shots on the floor. Valiant goes into the ring post and his busted open. Gibson off the top but crashes and burns. Valiant with thumb to the throat and backs Gibson into the ropes. Back body drop is countered. Back and forth. Rapid fire knee drops rock Valiant as does a big haymaker. Valiant slows it down with a front facelock but Gibson is soon out. Charge into the corner is countered by Valiant’s knee. Kick to the knee slows Gibson and Valiant with roundhouse punches. Gibson bails and manages to shove Dr. Mike Lano into Valiant during a brawl on the floor. Moonsault from Gibson connects and Valiant bails. Gibson is outside but Valiant reverses a whip and Gibson goes hard into the post. Neckbreaker forces Gibson to ringside. Outside, Valiant whips Gibson into the ring steps. Back inside, Gibson manages to survive a sleeper. Thumb to the throat is blocked and Gibson scores with a knee lift and enzuigiri. Gibson hooks the leg and advances to the next round (R2/P3). Up next . . . Tommy Rogers (12) v. Pampero Firpo (53)

More great action in the tourney. I was very pleased to see The Crusher oust Jim Duggan in a fun match as well as Ivan Koloff defeat Tully Blanchard. As much as I like Tully, I wanted to see Koloff advance. Cool to see Robert Gibson "knock off" Jimmy Valiant and I could see Gibson being a surprise in the tourney. I had a Bob Armstrong vs. Harley Race bout in my fed recently and it was a real barn burner. Too bad "The Bullet" couldn't pull off a huge win, though he lost to Race in my fed as well. I'm picking Pampero Firpo in the next bout.

Thanks for detailed comments cruefan68. Glad you are along for the ride again this year. You are correct TTX Tag Team competitors usually do well especially in the first couple of rounds. Road Warrior Hawk won the whole thing one year.

Boogie Woogie , a bridesmaid again lol.
Anyhow, going with Firpo on the next one as I have not used Rogers much as a single and Firpo had an awesome rivalry with Macho Man in my fed.

Ok. Just got caught up on this year's tournament. Some fun results so far. I hope I don't jinx anything by saying the DQ rate seems to be down this year.
I'm reading with a particular interest this time around as I have to say (with a little bit of shame) that I have yet to use any of the new color cards. I haven't even seen the last two expansions yet (gotta get that AWA set). So this is giving me some idea how the new cards stack up against each other.
