if you have not seen last night's Death Before Dishonor yet but plan to watch it, you ay not want to read the information below as there are a couple of SPOIILERS:
CMLL Releases RUSH and Dragon Lee
CMLL released a statement on Twitter announcing that Mexican stars Dragon Lee and RUSH have been released from the company effective immediately. The promotion stated that both men had been fired for not following company guidelines.
Lee had been removed from most of CMLL’s upcoming shows due to his participation in PWG’s Battle of Los Angeles tournament against CMLL’s orders. As for RUSH, he and his father, La Bestia del Ring, cut a video shortly after his world title victory at ROH Death Before Dishonor, claiming that they were going to go independent.
Lee also released a tweet, thanking the now deceased Paco Alonso for everything he’s done for his career. He and RUSH will most likely be going by new names going forward, as CMLL has trademarks on the monikers.

Shame they'll have to change names, but they'll be fine.

I always thought promotions preventing a wrestler from keeping the name he or she used while working in that promotion was exceptionally petty.
I also don’t like WWE’s big push to rebrand everyone, but that’s just me.

I also don’t like WWE’s big push to rebrand everyone, but that’s just me. It seems like whomever created the gimmick or name should own it. I don't think the WWE should own the rights to "Cody Rhodes" but I could see why they'd think they'd own "The Undertaker." Renaming everyone so they could own the name and merchandise the hell out of it makes sense from a business standpoint but most of the new names suck and they have to be taking a bath on trademarking names they're probably never going to have on merch.

More Details on RUSH and Dragon Lee Release, ROH and NJPW Unhappy With CMLL
Luchablog has released a new podcast detailing the fallout from CMLL’s announced firing of Dragon Lee and his brother RUSH, who became the new Ring of Honor World champion at last night’s Death Before Dishonor pay per view. Here are notes that detail CMLL’s now shaky relationship with ROH and NJPW. ROH management is reportedly unhappy with CMLL due to their recent streaming issues, including an event that was run last night that had fans calling for refunds. The promotion also feels that their relationship with RUSH is more important than their relationship with CMLL.
-If CMLL decides to pull their talent from ROH shows there’s a good chance it could cause a backlash, as there is good money in those tours for CMLL stars.\
-Regardless of CMLL’s feelings about Dragon Lee, NJPW will continue to book him.
–Luchablog reports that it is a red-flag that NJPW didn’t send any Young Lions to CMLL, indicating that the promotions are not on the best current terms.
-RUSH plans on releasing a full video explaining why he decided to quit soon. The Wrestling Observer reports that even though they were fired, RUSH and Dragon Lee basically quit CMLL with their actions.
-Both NJPW and ROH feel as if CMLL has no leverage in their relationship. CMLL’s mistrust for non-Mexico promotions will be much bigger because of this. Rumors that they may pull talent from the British J-Cup.

RUSH Announced For Events In Mexico Under El Toro Blanco
New Ring of Honor world champion RUSH has been announced for the CRASH and KAOZ promotions in Mexico under the new name El Toro Blanco, as RUSH is trademarked by CMLL. It’s also noted that his brother, Dragon Lee, may work under the name Toro Rojo.
RUSH and Lee were both fired by CMLL due to not adhering to company policies. Prior to their announcement, RUSH released a video stating that he was going independent anyways, with the promise of a full update coming soon. Meanwhile Lee purposely worked PWG against CMLL’s orders. Neither man seems to be missing out on bookings as a result.

Well...we might finally get the big LA Park/Rush apuestas match in AAA then. Shame CMLL forced two of their top stars out like this but y'know, shit happens I guess.
