linkNWA Faces Backlash After Jim Cornette’s Racist Remarks On Today’s Powerrr, VP David Lagana Apologizes On the latest episode of NWA’s weekly episodic Powerrr, world champion Nick Aldis opened the show in a matchup against Trevor Murdoch when color-commentator Jim Cornette made a racially insensitive comment, where he joked about Murdoch traveling through Ethiopia with fried chicken on his back. The phrase caused a huge backlash from NWA fans on social media, prompting Vice President David Lagana to issue an apology, and pull the episode from Youtube. Lagana writes: On tonight’s episode of NWA Powerr airing on November 19th 2019, one of our talents made comments which some viewers found offensive. We deeply regret the error and apologize. We have temporarily taken the program down while we correct this error.

Tacky, yes. Racist, no. To say that joke was racist is willfully misconstruing it (or flat out not understanding it). People looking to be offended. Welcome to 2019. Isn't social media wonderful?

Yeah dude a joke about strapping a bucket of chicken to your back and riding a motor scooter through a famine-stricken country of predominantly black people isn't the slightest bit racist at all. It's not the first time he's used it on TV either, he used the same line in 1995 in reference to Lawrence Taylor, a black man...which is also pretty racist. This isn't people overreacting or looking to be offended, dude. He made a joke that's pretty clearly racist and they had time to edit the f ucking thing off their show that was taped WELL OVER A MONTH AGO and they didn't. Anyone with half a functioning brain would know not to broadcast something like that and it goes to show you that the people in charge of this shit show don't have half a functioning brain between all of them. I like listening to Corny talk about old wrestling and generally agree with some of his view points on modern wrestling but goddamn this isn't like when he criticized women's wrestling and people shit themselves for no reason.

Yeah, this is the thing here. Its not like it was live TV, this was something that could and should have been edited out. When you employee Corny you know he is going to say stupid shit, that goes with the territory, but those editing the show need to be more conscious about what actually gets on the program when they have complete control over it.

I really hate cancel culture / offended by everything 2019, but even I think that was terrible. That kind of remark is disgusting.

I don't think Jim Cornette is racist. He used an outdated joke from the 80's from when world hunger was the topic of the day. However, I do NOT feel sorry for Cornette one bit for the backlash that he is receiving. He has a habit of accusing people who disagree with his politics of being racist so what goes around comes around.

Same exact line from the 80s, posted in 2008 and nobody in comment section appears upset: FF to 2019 and it's:

Don't know if its because I am British ? Don't even understand what the quote is going on about/meaning ? The quote means "The man is so tough that he can go into a starving country with food on his back and fight his way out without losing the food."
