But what is racist about that , more insult to starving people ? There again he is 58 , if he was raised/lived in that type of culture . Does he know any other way ? I’m with you Bazzy. I see a food/starvation joke. Would never think to make a connection between race and food choices but obviously some people do and it’s important to respect and try to understand everybody’s feelings in these situations. At the end of the day the NWA hired a snake, knew he was a snake then act surprised when he spits venom. They’re at fault as much as Cornette is.

Here's the lead story about this from the Observer.

Interesting writeup. Good point that the outrage is intensified since it is Cornette that said something and anything he does is under a microscope since he is such a lightning rod of controversy.

I really don't get the outrage. Sure, it was a racist remark (perhaps not intentionally...I thought the fried chicken thing was pretty universally considered as such, but if alot of you guys didn't know, maybe Cornette didn't either), but that's not Cornette's fault. He's doing the schtick he's paid to do, it's the editor's job to not let it out in the world. It would be one thing if the show was live (though I'd assume no one would out Cornette on live TV for this very reason), but it wasn't. To make him the fall guy for someone missing an edit seems a bit wrong.

I'm a meat eater , what meat eater doesn't like chicken . Probably chicken or pork is my favourite .

Lagana was there when the show taped, during editing, THE entire time. He did not think it was a problem then--no not until the SJW twitter verse got involved. He had not been held accountable. Cornette was doing this thing--the very THING the NWA and Lagana hired Cornette to do. I really wanted the NWA to succeed. Now I hope it fades away. Lagana and Corgan can join Zayn, Gabe, and Shawn Michaels in a list of people that are not worth an ounce of respect.

Right or wrong, that's what it comes down to. Lagana apologized for letting the comment remain in the broadcast, but Cornette wouldn't apologize for saying it... I certainly understand why Cornette would not think he should need to (considering he has made the same joke multiple times on national TV, and no one ever blinked), and I can also understand the NWA requesting that he do so considering the culture we live in today.

I did listen to his podcast last week and I think him and his cohost did a good job addressing it and he was apologetic. The one issue he had was Lagana not taking any responsibility for leaving it in and throwing Jim under the bus. I agree that its an out of date joke and in poor taste and was not meant to be racist, but has different connotations now. I think most people now are pinning more of the blame on Lagana since it is a taped show and there was the opportunity to edit out questionable comments, which apparently have been done before.
