I've been away from the game for a while, but I picked up where I left off about a year ago. When I last played, ENDGAME (the "blue chipper") couldn't beat a carpet with a stick. This god of a man who seems to do well for everyone else has a handful of vanilla victories over jobbers and mid-carders, but he crumbles against the top 10.
Oddly, the guy who seems to dominate both feds is Paralyze. He's on an absolute bull-run, the likes of which I haven't seen since the coming of Chaos. Considering he's a tag specialist with a slightly better than normal offense, I'm shocked. He's beaten up nearly the entire top tier of talent, and he's looking pretty good walking into a feud with Monolith (who I've not officially debuted yet - he's wrecked a few matches under the guise of "the mysterious giant").
I recall being angry with Godsend's initial performance in my fed, but he corrected himself and ended up being champion for over a year. I also recall being amazed when Chopper Mattock won and defended the GWF title for nearly a year (way back in the early nineties). That said, I'm shocked at just how good Paralyze has been in the ring (not to mention for my storylines) and how horrible Endgame continues to be.
Since we're sharing and comparing, who are some of your surprise studs and duds?

The Amazing Mann was "amazing" for me in late 2119-mid 2120. He won the Galaxian title from Endgame, with help from Vin Strutter and successfully defended it against all the top guys, going over clean against the likes of Bloodline, Encubus, Disaster, and Switchblade. Switchblade went on a nice winning streak during that time also, beating everyone he faced with the BLADE OF RETRIBUTION. No one kicked out of it. All this led to a match-up between Amazing Mann and 'Blade at the final ppv of the year, War of the Worlds 2119. Mann not only won the match, forcing 'Blade to submit to CONTORTION, but he also became the first person to kick out of the BLADE of RETRIBUTION. Swarm would eventually unseat Mann as champion and he never reached the same heights again.

Endgame has been good but not great. The guy who has been a STUD is Payback, he's beaten Disaster, Monolith & Wolf for 2 seperate title runs as well as dominate Endgame. Payback is the man for right now.

I didn't really have any surprising studs, but I did have a DUD. Encubus could never even get into a title match, let alone win one when I "gave" him a shot at it. I haven't played pre-2119 with him, but since New Beginnings he hasn't impressed me.

Payback and all the Gladiators have mostly been duds for me. Hoping Payback is coming around at least...
Not sure who I'd qualify as a stud, maybe Epoch and Tauran.

The argument could easily be made that Paralyze's initial card is at least as good as Disaster's...maybe even better.

Tauran has been a stud for me. I was actually mildly surprised by that. He just didn't wow me with his stats when I first got him, but gosh almighty, that guy has been on a terror lately!

For the stud, I'd choose someone from the EC set--K. O. Keller. He has beaten up pretty much everyone consistently and with no problem (except Santon, who he keeps losing to--go figure) and is currently (in 2077) my GWF champ for a second time.
The dud of all time was and is Paragon, I suppose. But for me, Terminus has only been marginally better. He has not been pathetic like Paragon, but he has not won big matches much.

I agree about KO's EC card. But the one thing I notice that puts him over. That Add 1 on his L2O. Most of the offense comes at Level 2, so he really racks up those Add 1's. Just a note, I think Add 1's really belong on Level 3 Offense only...
