Am interested to know what kind of gimmick events (and names) people schedule. I don't do many myself. I enjoy doing ONLY THE BEST (lifted from Tom's fed) and sometimes run something called EXTREME ELIMINATION EVENT. Sounds better than it is. Basically book matches as usual (about 10-12) before mainly feud rivals. Each match is a special one, random draw or use Commissioner special matches card. Every winning wrestler or team then goes into a main event battle royal to find the event winner. I did used to do a RIGEL ROYAL RUMBLE but stopped after about 3 as they are very tough to play out.
Always nice to hear ideas from others
Cheers, Wayne

I turned the Deimos/Castilex/Centra Perennial into a two night tournament where the heavyweight champion defends the championship in every match he has, and if he loses, the new champion continues it.
I'm planning on having an Aethran themed PPV called ART OF WAR. The two main events will be an Ultimate Escape match and some match for the heavyweight title. Most likely an Aethran Ultimate Hell-chamber match.

THE RECKONING - Ranking Gauntlet, wrestlers are listed by how they are ranked. Lowest ranked wrestler/team fights the one ranked right above them and so on up to a title match. Has produced some wild streaks.
RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCE - Full Card of feud matches is booked. Each match is a randomly assigned special match, including the title defenses.
CIVIL WAR - 8 Team single elimination tournament to determine the #1 contenders for the GALAXIAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP at BIG BANG
BETRAYAL - 8 Man single elimination tournament to determine the #1 contender to the GALAXIAN CHAMPIONSHIP at BIG BANG
BIG BANG - Annual end of year super card.
Those last three I’ve played every year since the first year I’ve played the game.

I’ve tried a couple different gimmicks but none of the them stick. I had a LUCK OF THE DRAW supercard which featured a d20 roll or spin the wheel make the deal match for every match but I have since cut that to push the women’s tournament instead. My final chapter of the year used push stables ending in the final show of the year being a survivor series tournament where the survivors and the manager would be crowned the Team champions for the year kind of like the super bowl but I have since nixed that as well. Currently I run what I call “four majors” like golf or tennis with five other shows. I would say I have more themes than I do gimmicks as you will see below ...
QUEEN OF HEARTS TOURNAMENT, 8-woman single elimination tournament MEGATOURNAMENT, 32 man singles tournament COLBY CUP TAG TOURNAMENT, which originally was 8 teams then expanded to 16 but back down to 8 - all three the winner gets a title match at the next supercard.
BRAWL AT THE BEACH, this chapter (includes four showdown shows leading up to the event are usually at a beach or resort) and the end is a BEACHBRAWL 20man battle royal (the fourth major)
CHAMPAGNE WISHES AND CHAMPIONSHIP DREAMS is always the first show of the year and usually features a New Years theme and usually features the rookies of the year. CIVIL WAR has always been my Wrestlemania LEGENDS OF THE FALL a is the September show and is like Slamboree, it features the hall of fame announcements and has a very big historical feel to it and some legends come back for one more match (aka Nexus vs Krakan) SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES is HALLOWEEN themed and usually all hardcore matches and even had a graveyard match (Antilla ruins match)
The final chapter of the year has four GAUNLET matches thay take place on the last four Saturdays of the year called SUDDEN DEATH SATURDAYS. These gaunlets take the top six contenders in each division and they fight in a GAUNLET by their yearly ranking. It is then “sudden death” for these superstars where the loser goes home for the year. The final super card then has the winners advance to their respective title holder and fight in three fall matches. This show also features big rivalry sudden death casket matches, get put in a casket and your career is literally over! This year saw Massif end Exo Kings career for example.

BattleZone:Which features battlezone matches between teams and this year The Dominion will battle the FDF and the winning team if The FDF will mean Massif will be the sole commissioner for a week and if The Dominion wins then the Dark Menace will. Rage in the Cage:Which will see a cage match,a cell match and a Aethran Ultimate Escape match.

I use one called FEUD FEST where all champions defend there titles against their main rivals weather or nor they are #1 contender. The only exception is the cruiserweight... once or twice the main rival of the cuiser champ was not a cruiserweight.

I only have one that happens mid year called King of the Kosmo, that I've had in my fed since the EC days.
This is a 16 man ceded bracketed tournament that starts 4 shows before the PPV to get down to the final 4 for the actual PPV. The big gimmick in this is that once it is won you can never enter the tournament again(w/ an exception to retconning the EC into my fed's history leading to Star Warrior and Cosmos/Thantos being the only 2 time KotK winners) as it pretty much launches you directly into the title picture if not won in this tournament. Considered by most to be more prestigious than the GWF title and leads to some interesting match ups and feuds can come out of it.
Also at this PPV is the finals to the F Cup Tournament, that also started 4 shows before, of the top 8 ceded tag teams. The difference with this tourney is it can be won multiple times by a team and really helps solidify dynasties.

DANGEROUS GROUND - All Special matches RIGEL RUMBLE - Winner gets a GWF title shot COSMIC CHAOS - All matches chosen at random WAR GAMES: THE LONE SURVIVOR - Survivor Series event with the surviving members of each team meeting in a Battle Royale at the end of the night GUARDIANS CUP - 16 tag team tournament, title on the line throughout IMPOSSIBLE TOURNAMENT Those are Supershows, other special events run up to these like the Lethal Lottery running up to Cosmic Chaos. BattleZone Galactica is a Three Team BattleZone match leading to War Games. In the past it was whatever the big team was (Black Death, Future Shock, Martial Law, Dominion) fielding a team, versus the heroes versus villains. Money in the Bank happen but that changes depending on timing.

I have the Aethran Brawl as my last event of the year. It starts as a tag-team tournament with blind draw for partners. Then the winners enter a blind draw for the 2nd round and so on. The winners of the final tag-team match then face off in a best of 3 series in a special match. I'm thinking about doing a different special match for each one, but haven't yet. This tournament is actually a lot of fun and leads to some entertaining teams.

LORD OF THE RING: 1st Round: lottery drawn teams fight it out. 2nd Round: pin/submission battle royals with winners from 1st round divided. 3rd round: best 2 out of 3 falls match between rumble 1 winner & rumble 2 winner. victor gets LOTR Gauntlet to "throw down" the gauntlet at any time for a heavyweight title match for a year
