** - Promoter Note: One HELL of a Main Event! Shane Douglas came out wearing a brace on his arm. He stopped midway through the aisle before signaling to someone back up the ramp. Out came FRANCINE and she was followed by CHRIS CANDIDO and an unknown masked man (whom we found out was called The Executioner). The Champ of course came out with his valet So Cal Val and The Rat Pack in tow. The action broke off before Gary Michael Capetta could finish the introductions! The match went outside where both men beat each other senseless and bloody. Douglas eventually put Williams down for the count but So Cal Val distracted the referee! The battle continued until Doc hit the OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE the ref was then distracted by Francine! After several more minutes of brutality Douglas hit the PITTSBURGH PLUNGE! Once again So Cal Val distracted the referee! Williams would recover and put Douglas down with the Doctor Bomb only to have Francine distract once again. Doc followed up his assault and eventually hit the BACKDROP DRIVER! As the ref was about to count Candido and The Executioner got up onto the apron and began to enter... the referee ejected Candido, The Executioner, and Francine from ringside! Douglas managed to make a comeback and hit a second PITTSBURGH PLUNGE! The Rat Pack tried to enter but the referee headed them off and also ejected them and So Cal Val from ringside! Both Williams and Douglas, battered, bloodied, and fatigued managed to get back to their feet and continue the fight for several more hard hitting minutes. In the end Douglas hits the BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX and the ref made the three count as the sold out Paycom Center crowd erupted! After 434 days Dr. Death's historic title reign has ended! SHANE DOUGLAS IS THE NEW SSW CHAMPION!!!

Former SSW Champion “Dr. Death” Steve Williams gives a heart felt promo about the end of the Sooner State Wrestling Era and the dawning of Great Plains Wrestling. He vows to become the first GPW Championship after he tosses the “Pretender” Shane Douglas on his ass in the Battle Royal this evening.

North American Title Match
Brad Armstrong defeated Ox Baker© via DQ when Baker smashes Armstrong in the head with a steel chair outside the ring. Armstrong actually dominated the Champion in this one until the action spilled outside.

Match 4:
AACW World Title Match
Harley Race© pinned Danny Hodge after the PILEDRIVER to successfully retain.
At the close of the show the Sooner State Wrestling faded to black for the final time…
** - Promoter Note: Brad Armstrong is an underrated talent! He has come close in multiple title shots (Light Heavyweight, TV , and North American) but he just falls short. Tonight was no fault of his own and he deserves another shot down the road against Ox Baker. Poor Tiger Conway Jr. laid out by O’Shay Edwards (He wasn’t invited! He just showed up!) The Fabulous Ones had a good run as AACW World Tag Champs and this dream match lived up to expectations even though I thought The Fabs would retain. I think I’ll book the rematch on the next Super Card in the Fall. Danny Hodge is a LEGEND (and a lock for future HOF’er) in SSW (and in real life here in Oklahoma) but Race was just too much for him. Douglas’ bid for the Battle Royal thwarted by the man he beat to become the final SSW Champion! Williams looked prime to go all the way by the Iron Sheik played Spoiler to that. It will be interesting to see how Rob Van Dam and the returning “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert (last seen Card #100 04/22/22) plays out.

Card 151 –
Great Plains Wrestling First Episode - 08/19/23 INTRUST Bank Arena Wichita, KS “Dawn Of A New Era”
Jim Ross and Lance Russell welcome the viewing audience to the inaugural episode of Great Plain Wrestling from the INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas. From there they launch into a video package for the big main event tonight between the 2 Battle Royal survivors from last week. Rob Van Dam and “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert will meet to crown the first Great Plains Champion! Up first, Jay Briscoe defends the new renamed Brass Knux Title now known as the “Big Iron” Championship!
Big Iron Championship
Jay Briscoe© retains after a tough challenge from the newcomer G-Raver. Briscoe gets the win after the JAY DRILLER.
**
Rock N’ Roll Express defeat PG-13 when J.C. Ice is pinned after the DOUBLE DROPKICK. ***
Light Heavyweight Title Match
Danny Hodge pinned the Champion “The Exotic” Adrian Street© after a Cobra Clutch Suplex to capture the Light Heavyweight Title for a FOURTH Time!
After the match Street took the belt and walked over to his longtime Sooner State rival and shook his hand and handed over the belt and raising his arm.
- Lance Russell interviewed the former Light Heavyweight Champion Street asking about his post match actions. Street says that Hodge may be his longest and toughest rival but that he respected him to the fullest. He is not ashamed of this loss and if they meet again Street will give Hodge the fight of his life. The crowd was solidly behind Street who over the years has earned their respect. The interview was interrupted however when Jimmy Hart and “Adorable” Adrian Adonis barged in. Hart told Street that his time is up, he’s a has-been and no longer the “prettiest” wrestler in the area. Adonis added that he was the next big thing and the new Queen. Street looked amused saying that if Adonis is the new “Queen” then the pageants standards have lowered to letting Pigs in lipstick enter. Adonis became enraged and lunger forward… Hart got between them as Street did not back off… finally Lance Russell and Jimmy Hart were able to keep the two from tearing into each other.
Heritage Title Match
Killer Kowalski (with April Hunter) beat Champion Dick Hutton© with the Kowalski Claw to become the NEW Heritage Champion!
- After the match Kowalski decided he want to celebrate his new title victory by sending a message to the others in the back as he was joined by Bruiser Costa and “Big” John Studd! All three men mercilessly beat Hutton senseless as April Hunter cheered them on! Hutton was given spiked piledrivers and several bombs away drops before the locker room cleared and hit the ring. The broadcast cut to commercial as they stretchered Hutton out.
- After the break Commissioner Bill Watts handed out a 3 card suspension from Kowalski, Costa, & Studd.
Television Title Match
Larry Zbyszko© successfully retained after pinning Bryan Keith following a spinning back kick.
- Bill Apter interviewed “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, the last man to hold the now defunct Sooner State Championship. Douglas let it be known he wanted first crack at the Great Plains Title regardless who wins the title tonight. Douglas pleaded his case as he was the last man to hold the title and that was only fair. Bill Watts walked out to the podium and stated he agreed with Douglas and that he would be the first one to receive a shot at the title!
Great Plains Title Match
“Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert defeated Rob Van Dam to become the first Great Plains Champion.
Van Dam was unable to get any momentum going in this one. Gilbert resorted to his usual usage of a foreign object to wear RVD down enough to get the pinfall.

Television Champion Larry Zbyszko retained against Brad Armstrong after the PILEDRIVER
Lance Russell interviewed current Great Plains Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase & Nord The Barbarian. DiBiase verbally ran down all the teams in Great Plains until he was interrupted by Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson, the Rock & Roll Express have returned after a lengthy absence! Ricky Morton told DiBiase to “put up or shut up”. DiBiase tells Morton that they have to “go to the end of the line” since they havent been around… with that DiBiase and Nord walked away laughing.
“The Franchise” Shane Douglas beat Great Plains Champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert via Disqualification when Gilbert was caught using a foreign object.
Douglas had the champ in trouble and it looked as if he were going to be champion once more but not in the cards tonight! With the DQ victory he is eligible for a rematch in the very near future!

Great Plains Wrestling
Card 154 - 09/09/23
Fargo, ND The debuting America's Most Wanted (with So Cal Val) beat the team of Frogman Leblanc & Mister X with the DEATH SENTENCE on Mister X.
Lance Russell announced that next week there will be a contender's battle royal for a shot at the AACW North American Title currently held by Ox Baker.
Television Title Match
Larry Zbyszko beat champion KISS Demon with the PILEDRIVER to become the Television Champion for a third time!
Early in the match Zbyszko removed the padding from one of the top turnbuckles and used it to batter and bloody the Demon.
Cowboy Bill Watts announced that "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff will be making his Great Plains Wrestling debut next week!
Mandy Leon (with Madison Rayne & Angelina Love) won by DQ over Debbie Combs when Combs smashed Leon with a beer bottle (after Madison Rayne had sprayed Combs in the face with hair spray).
Chris Candido (with Tammy Lynn Sytch) won by DQ over Great Plains Champion "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert in a non title match.
The referee disqualified Eddie Gilbert when Doug Gilbert interfered after Candido hit the BLOND BOMB. After the match The Gilberts started to work over Candido until Shane Douglas hit the ring with chair in hand and sent The Gilberts retreating.
Great Plains Tag Team Title Match
The Rat Pack (DiBiase & Nord The Barbarian) retain due to The Rock N Roll Express being disqualified when Robert Gibson smashed Nord The Barbarian with a sledgehammer.
This match was a complete injustice to the challengers as DiBiase and Nord used every dirty tactic in the book (including Nord putting Gibson through a table!) and when Ricky and Robert had enough the referee sees THAT!
AACW Womens Title Match
Sherri Martel retains the title when Jacqueline is disqualified for using a baseball bat (that Martel introduced into the match to begin with!).
After 3 consecutive DQ finishes on the card the crowd is ready to riot and a LIVID Cowboy Bill Watts announces that he is fed up with lawlessness running rampant as of late. Watts said that next week he will be bringing in a special enforcer to fix the problems! He also announces that the two title matches will be held again at Over The Top (Card 160) NO DQs! Chris Candido & Shane Douglas will face The Gilberts with Watts' special enforcer as the REFEREE!!!!
