Just got my Early Classics 2074-2075 set.I love that the GWF started as basically a territory. My favorite artwork for the set is Screw,Santon and Morpheus who is one of my favorite COTG characters of all time.Great job by Mike and Tom.

I was blown away by the artwork and colors for these 20 Early Classics cards. As someone who started playing GWF and Early Classics earlier in the year (black-and-white printouts) the difference is HUGE. Also for me it is much easier to read the stats. When I first heard the color EA was coming out in Dec I was hesitant because I already had bought the older sets, but I do not regret getting the new ones at all because they are that much sweeter.
Of course I'm still in a conundrum since we are getting more EA cards in the future via Prime so in terms of playing chronologically, I think I may run tournaments or Kronus- not sure yet.
One nitpick on Mike's writing style, and please don't take this as insulting at all: I have always found him to be beholden to filling in gaps in history and meticulous detail which has made it hard for me to "just play" out each year*. Yes, I know It's Up To You, Promoter, but there seems to a reason why Mike has created all the backstories and I'd like to stick as close as I can. For older comic book fans, Mike = Roy Thomas, where Roy's passion was filling in continuity gaps and retcons for Stan Lee (who would be Tom Filsinger in this analogy) but focused more on these fixes than narrative storytelling.
And the EA new manual continues that tradition where we learn the first match was an exhibition match and ended in a DQ and Seamus Pollock was not in the championship tournaments. So right out of the box, I can't run a 20-man tournament for the GWF title without feeling guilty.
* For example, in addition to the shortened first year of Sept - Dec of 2074, I had to keep track of the exact month Dorado Sundown left (not sure why they couldn't hang around until the early or mid-2080s), Jammer's 2076 injury, and re-read the booklets to see when the Mimic actually debuted, and many more little hardcoded details like that, not to mention if Wind Riders debuted in 2075 or 2076.

Perhaps for the first time ever I'm just doing my own thing with a set. I'm not worried about what the storylines say or when wrestlers leave but I'm doing my own thing and having a blast.

I've already added the Titan Bulldogs, the Arial Foundation, Mentor, Murdock, an Animan named Capricorn, Randy Savage, and Abraham Lincoln to the starting roster so I'm already way off book and enjoying things.

Are we still going to follow the rules of "nobody can be better than Omega"? Seems to be the case.Omega won the Galaxian title tournament in my EC fed and easily beat K.O. Keller and Morpheus in his first two title defenses.Next up Blacklash at the High Noon event on Deimos.

Dumb question alert, the handbook mentions a wrestler who did not participate in the tournament but does anyone know which wrestlers competed? It seems cryptic. Since I am at work do not have the book handy, but believe a number is mentioned.
May want to run the tournament or tag division to kick things off and see how the rivalries play out.
Anyone one care to chime in? Not new to COTG or LOW, but want to give this fed a clean start.

The book says Seamus Pollock arrived after the tournament took place, but he participated in mine - IT'S UP TO YOU PROMOTER.
Also, according to the book, only ONE of THE MENSANS could enter the singles tournament to make it an even sixteen.
I use the book as a guideline, not the be all end all. Do what makes you happy and just have fun.

I'm 90% sure they only allowed one of the Mensans in the tournament, and Cordsar was ticked that he got left out. I always used Cordsar as a whiny smack-talking heel while Trotarus was the mild-mannered one (who did most of the hard work in the ring). Sort of like Enzo & Cass.
