Week 2 for the two remaining (past this season) Pac-12 teams:
Washington State (my undergrad school) defeated #19 Wisconsin to improve to 2-0.
Oregon State, currently ranked #16, is currently leading UC Davis 48-0 in the Third Quarter.
As the two schools nobody wanted, Washington State and Orgeon State are currently playing pretty damn good.

Yeah, but with all due respect to the Beavers beating up on UC Davis isn't exactly something to write home about. They've got some compelling games coming up in the next few weeks against WSU and Utah though so some wins there would likely move them up into the top 10. That Cougars win over Wisconsin was definitely impressive. It should move them into the top 25. I'd love to see WSU or OSU win the conference championship this year as a parting shot to the defectors.

WSU defeated Wisconsin last year too I think both WSU and OSU might have top 25 teams this year, not sure why the power conferences rejected them for membership. A big FU today to the conferences who said no to WSU and OSU.

Oregon State remained at their #16 ranking. The Pac-12 actually has 8 teams in the new Top 25 rankings, breaking this conference up really mmales me dislike college football and I have not watched a college football game yet this season.

I came to point out the 8 teams ranked. They are only the second conference to do that, the SEC being the other who did it many times. It was 21 times including a record 10 times in 2015. It seems Pac-12 is going to go out with a bang if this does end up being their final season. This is of course mostly good news for the conferences getting the teams leaving the Pac. Silver lining, maybe the 8 teams can be used as a recruiting tool, "come join the best conference top to bottom in 2023".

I thought someone would extend an invite even if it was just to boost the membership numbers in order to keep up with the other conferences. For now all WSU and OSU can do is keep putting the best team they can out there, have some successful seasons and hope that eventually one of the Power Conferences asks them to join. There is a precedent for a situation like that. When the Southwest Conference fell apart in the 1990's four of their eight teams failed to land a major conference invite immediately afterwards: Rice, Houston, TCU and SMU. Houston and TCU continued to field quality football teams and are now members of the Big 12 and SMU is now set to join the ACC.

Would joining a Power Conference be better than keeping control of the Pac-12's assets? Standford and California sold themselves out to join their new conference next year. Although I did not watch any games today, I saw that both Oregon State and Washington State won again and will remain ranked in the Top 25.

In the long term, yeah, it likely will for Cal and Stanford. The Pac-12 assets are nice but in the end, they're likely going to be a slightly stronger Mountain West in terms of schools.

The Pac-12 assets are nice but in the end, they're likely going to be a slightly stronger Mountain West in terms of schools. perhaps with an emphasis on long in long term, Standford and California only receive 30% shares for the next 7 years and won't receive 100% shares until 2033 meanwhile they will incur increased travel costs the entire time (and California's athletic department already has massive debt) and now it sounds like they will lose some home games with this ridiculous talk about playing ACC games in Dallas to lessen the travel between the opposite coasts. Games like Standford vs Boston College in Dallas will likely have mostly empty seats. I wonder if some of these departing Pac-12 schools might come crawling back?

Tomorrow the two schools left behind play each other as #14 Oregon State plays at #21 Washington State. In a sign of solidarity, the WSU band will play the OSU fight song before kickoff.
