A mid week posting! Excellent. Another solid card of action from the Sunshine State. Really liked Andre destroying Butcher. JD. Michaels must have turned some heads with his big win. He is doing the same thing in my LOTF fed as he climbs the rankings. The main event looked insane. Thanks Bookerbill. Sullivan vs. The Sheik was a violent battle and one I would like to have again. Andre had no trouble with Necro Butcher as it was literally over in about seven moves. The thing with J.D. Michaels was to get him away from the Rat Pack which has pretty much disbanded after losing their feud with Bob & Brad Armstrong. Look for Dr. Tom Prichard and Buff Bagwell to show up elsewhere. I am planning some upcoming roster moves in my various territories to shake things up a little. Thanks for the comments.

LOW All-Star Wrestling - (Episode 15) - Irish McNeil Boys Club - Shreveport, LA (Card #561)
Announcer Lance Russell opened the broadcast by addressing rumors of recent high level meetings taking place in New York, NY, involving LOW Commissioner Charlie Cox and representatives of the Strong Style Union and Axis of Violence, namely Rikidozan, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Ted Dibiase, and Iron Mike Dibiase. He said just before the broadcast went on the air he received an official statement from the office of the commissioner that stated that both the SSU and the AOV would get together for a Summit on the next NWC card at New York's Madison Square Garden (Card #568). He said that just about anything could come out of that and to expect the unexpected. Before Russell could continue he was rudely interrupted by Evan "Strangler" Lewis who tried to intimidate the beloved announcer. Lewis demanded to know if "that coward" Ed "Strangler" Lewis was going to show up and accept his $10,000 Strangler's Challenge. Russell told him to cool down and he had no idea whether Lewis was there or not. That didn't sit well with Lewis who grabbed Russell by the collar and threatened to apply the Stranglehold. LOW officials moved in to break it up when suddenly Ed "Strangler" Lewis arrived and went straight for Lewis. The two were pulled apart by the officials before Ed Lewis hit the ring calling for Evan Lewis to join him!
LR: "This is out of control, let's throw it on up to the ring for the Strangler's Challenge"!"
1) $10,000 Strangler's Challenge: Evan Lewis defeated Ed Lewis by Count Out: The referee had to rush into the ring as the "Battle of the Strangler's" kicked off in impromptu fashion with Ed Lewis trading blows with his namesake Evan Lewis. Russell described this one perfectly saying "it was out of control" as the two men battled it out. Evan gained the upper hand in the latter stages countering a waistlock takedown with the fireman's carry slam on the spine. He then locked on a fish hook before tossing Ed out of the ring on to the hard concrete floor. The battle continued on the outside with Evan catching Ed in the Stranglehold and keeping it locked on as the referee began issuing a ten count. Ed fought hard to escape and Evan released the hold at nine sliding back into the ring to win a count out decision. If that weren't bad enough, Evan grabbed the $10,000 check and taunted Ed with it before quickly retreating back to the locker room. A disgusted Ed Lewis then went to the announce table and called his namesake an "imposter" and a "coward" and that one day he would collect the money and prove who the real "Strangler" is in LOW.
2) Buddy Rogers defeated S.D. Jones: The one and only "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers, a former LOW World Heavyweight champion, took on the popular S.D. Jones in this bout. Rogers, appearing sans manager "Elegant" Eddie Fyne, showed his vicious streak in this one twice pulling up Jones after having him pinned with a piledriver and atomic drop. Jones made an admirable comeback delivering the Philly shuffle and KO punch. He had Rogers reeling until the "Nature Boy" countered a back bodydrop off the ropes and executed an inside Cradle Hold to score the pin.
3) Danny Hodge defeated Mr. X: This one didn't last long as popular former LOW Junior Heavyweight champion Danny Hodge added another loss to the winless record of the masked Mr. X. Hodge quickly subdued Mr. X with a backbreaker before wrapping him up with the Oklahoma Side Roll to score the pin. The crowd cheered wildly for Hodge, a native of the Mid-South territory of Perry, OK, enjoying his quick victory.
Interview - Bryan Danielson: PWI Editor Bill Apter conducted a ringside interview with popular AWE star "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson who is a part of the Strong Style Union in their ongoing rivalry with the Axis of Violence. Apter brought up the credentials of Danielson, a former two-time LOW Junior Heavyweight champion, along with his student-teacher relationship with The Destroyer. Danielson said that right now his focus is on the war between the SSU and AOV, and his desire to get the better of Curt Hennig, but that when the time is right he will focus on winning championships again. He said that he would like to team up with The Destroyer and make a run at the LOW World tag team titles. Apter said that was a great goal to have and asked how important The Destroyer has been to his career in LOW. Danielson praised his mentor and said that he gains more and more confidence each day he learns from the legendary masked man. Apter then asked Danielson about his appearances in CHIKARA where he is signed to a part time contract. Danielson replied that CHIKARA offers up a lot of great competition and it is a pleasure to work for the group. Apter concluded the interview by reminding everyone of the upcoming SSU-AOV summit meeting at Madison Square Garden and Danielson said that he will be an interested observer on that night.
4) Amber O'Neal, Krissy Vaine, & Daizee Haze vs. Sara Del Ray, Angel Orsini, & Simply Luscious was a Draw: Exciting six-woman tag team action here saw Team Blondage (Amber O'Neal & Krissy Vaine) team up with Daizee Haze to oppose the strong team of Sara Del Ray, Angel Orsini, & Simply Luscious. The last time that Haze and Del Ray appeared on LOW All-Star Wrestling they lost the LOW Women's tag team titles to Jazz & April Hunter and had a disagreement going back to problems between them in the BDK in CHIKARA which ended their long time partnership. Haze showed great fire in this one rallying her team several times and went toe-to-toe with the larger Del Ray connecting with the Yakuza Kick and Daizee Cutter. She also survived strong attacks by Orsini and Luscious. O'Neal took a lengthy pounding from the opposition and was nearly pinned after a side slam from Luscious but Vaine made the save. Vaine looked good during her time in and even survived a face first double suplex by Del Ray and Luscious kicking out just before the three count. This one went the distance and ended after Luscious hit the Luscious Landing on Haze for a big near fall. The bell sounded with the referee ruling the match a time limit draw ending a hard fought battle.
5) Gorgeous George defeated Paul Ellering: This was a wild one as Gorgeous George, accompanied by his valet Cherie Dupre, took on Paul Ellering who has been known to pull some upsets. Ellering nearly won this one twice when he trapped George in the Full Nelson but both times Dupre distracted the referee. Ellering then went for a top rope dive but missed and George applied the Spinning Toe Hold going for the submission. Ellering, however, grabbed the ropes for a break and a frustrated George executed a small package using the tights for leverage for a near fall. Ellering kept battling back until George finally subdued him with an airplane spin and locked on the Gorgeous Grip, his version of the Sleeper Hold, to score a submission victory.
Interview - One Man Gang: PWI Editor Bill Apter returned to ringside with his special guest, the massive 495-pound One Man Gang out of the SWA. Apter started out asking OMG about his background an the big man, clutching his trusty steel chain, said he is from Halstead Street, the roughest part of Chicago, and that his current goal was to rain down violence on one Kevin Sullivan. Apter brought up how it was Sullivan and Bob Roop that injured him with a Railroad Spike attack in Charleston, SC (Card #543), keeping him out of action for several months. OMG said that he has been medically cleared to return and was seeking a match with Sullivan, Roop, or even that "twerp" Jimmy Jacobs. He recalled how Jacobs and his former tag team partner Tyler Black once caused him to lose a Falls Count Anywhere match to Sullivan in the SWA. Apter said that OMG is outnumbered but OMG responded by saying "I am never outnumbered!" OMG concluded the interview saying that he would be on the next SWA card in nearby Lafayette, LA, and was issuing an open challenge to Sullivan and his men to face him. Apter thanked OMG for his time and threw it back to Lance Russell to set up a highly anticipated main event...
6) LOW Tex-Arkana Television title: El Generico defeated Eddie Kingston© by DQ: This highly anticipated main event saw the "War King" Eddie Kingston defend the LOW Tex-Arkana television title against the popular El Generico who earned the opportunity by beating Tursas in CHIKARA (Card #559 in Philadelphia, PA). Generico started out strong and quickly caught Kingston with his finisher, the Brainbustaaahhh!!!, but the "War King" kicked out with authority. Kingston struck back with the Lariat and covered Generico for a near fall of his own. Generico went on an amazing run using everything in his arsenal, including the 450 Splash and spaceman moonsault, before going for the Brainbustaaahhh!!! again. Kingston fought out of it but then Generico executed a Spike Brainbuster, the move that beat Tursas, for a big near fall. Kingston fought back with some stiff blows and, after a flying bodypress by Generico for a near fall, he blasted him with the Yakuza Kick. Generico bailed out of the ring and Kingston followed unleashing a brutal assault. He caught Generico with a back suplex on the guard rail and then sent him head first into the ring post resulting in a snake eyes disqualification. The crowd jeered the decision but Generico got his hand raised meaning he is in a position to challenge for the gold again in the near future.
(Notes: The brewing rivalry between SWA star Ed "Strangler" Lewis and freelance star Evan "Strangler" Lewis reached a boiling point when they squared off in the opening match. It was a vicious battle that saw Evan Lewis use his controversial Stranglehold to aid in a count out victory and retain his $10,000 check. A disgusted Ed Lewis issued strong statements post-match and also backstage with PWI Editor Bill Apter. He has vowed to get a rematch with his namesake and not only beat him for the money but take him out of LOW for good...Eddie Kingston was fortunate to retain the LOW Tex-Arkana Television title losing by disqualification to El Generico in the main event. It was the second time that a championship match between the two ended in a disqualification as previously it was Generico losing on a technicality. Kingston spoke with PWI Editor Bill Apter backstage and admitted to losing his cool in the match but called Generico a great opponent saying he would put the belt on the line against him or anyone else that wants to step up to the plate...Big news coming out of the broadcast concerned the upcoming Strong Style Union and Axis of Violence Summit taking place at New York's Madison Square Garden (Card #568) and that will indeed be a most interesting situation involving the two rival factions.)

I enjoyed reading these results!
I really like the Strangler's Challenge and also the mentor/trainee relationship between The Destroyer and Bryan Danielson respectively.
Looking forward to seeing what happens at MSG between the Strong Style Union and the Axis of Violence.

Looking forward to seeing what happens at MSG between the Strong Style Union and the Axis of Violence. The Danielson-Destroyer pairing has lasted a long time in my fed and I like it too. They have been bogged down in the SSU-AOV feud so once that ends it will be interesting to see what becomes of that. Strangler vs. Strangler is such a natural rivalry and it got off to an explosive start here. I hope for big things from that feud. Thanks for the comments, Vegas.

LOW Memphis Championship Wrestling - Mid-South Coliseum - Memphis, TN (Card #562)
1) Gran Akuma defeated Genghis Khan: A solid opening bout saw Gran Akuma take on Genghis Khan in what was a meeting of former anti-CHIKARA faction members. Akuma, a former MCW Southern Heavyweight champion, is hoping to again challenge for the gold and knew that a win over Khan was crucial. Khan did his best to prevent that using deadly kicks and chops to wear down Akuma. He then delivered the devastating Twin Thrust with Akuma barely kicking out before the three count. Akuma fired back with some nice strikes of his own and, after surviving the Khan Nerve Pinch, he caught him with the Tombstone Facebuster to score the pin.
2) Tyler Black defeated Rhett Titus: An interesting match-up here as Davenport, IA, native Tyler Black, a former two-time co-holder of the MCW Southern tag team titles with Jimmy Jacobs, took on Long Island Beach, NJ, native Rhett Titus who has had recent success teaming up with Brutus Beefcake. When Black was a member of the Age of the Fall and mentored by Kevin Sullivan, he was one of the most hated competitors in MCW so this was a test to see how the fans would take to his new outlook on things. Titus struck hard early and hit the Muff Driver for a big near fall. Black, backed by some crowd support, fought back connecting with the turnbuckle power bomb. That stunned Titus and Black quickly followed up with an Enzuigiri to score the pin. It was an impressive victory for Black who now looks to climb up the singles ranks of MCW.
3) Chris Hero defeated Ricky Landell: The always outspoken Chris Hero, former leader of the ant-CHIKARA faction, took on the popular Ricky Landell in this bout. Landell shined early connecting with the hip toss neckbreaker and delivering a guillotine legdrop off the top rope to the floor after Hero had bailed out of the ring. Back on the inside it was Hero catching Landell with the Cravate-Plex and Hero Sandwich. Those moves seemed to take it out of Landell as Hero locked him in the Cravate. Landell struggled to escape but Hero cinched the hold on pulling the two away from the ropes. Landell proceeded to tap out conceding the match to Hero giving him a victory via submission.
4) LOW Women's tag team titles: Jazz & April Hunter© defeated Nora Greenwald & Trinity Denucci to retain the titles: An interesting championship match here as Nora Greenwald & Trinity Denucci, both former co-holders of the LOW Women's tag team titles, challenged the powerful duo of Jazz & April Hunter for the gold. Greenwald partnered with Penny Banner to hold the championship while Denucci teamed up with Wendi Richter for her title reign. Early action saw Jazz and Hunter working like a well oiled machine gaining near falls on both opponents. Greenwald fought back hard and nearly pinned Jazz after hitting the Flipping Seated Senton. The challengers began building some momentum using their speed advantage before Jazz cut off Greenwald and caught her in the B* Clamp for a submission chance. Greenwald was able to tag out but Hunter dominated her hitting a pair of power bombs for a near fall. Hunter also used the Hunter Lock setting up a tag to Jazz and that is when the champions won this one. Jazz nailed Denucci with a sitout powerslam and then trapped her in the STF wrenching on the hold for the submission as Hunter prevented Greenwald from making the save.
5) Winner Receives an MCW Contract: Cowboy Bob Orton defeated Blue Meanie: "The Ace" Cowboy Bob Orton became the newest member of the MCW roster by virtue of his victory over the Blue Meanie coming off their loss in an MCW Southern tag team title match on the previous show. LOW Commissioner Lance Russell did the ring introductions for this one and Meanie drew big cheers from the crowd slapping his belly and performing the "Meanie dance". A disgusted Orton looked on while Russell stated that the winner of the match would indeed receive a contract from MCW. The two free agent stars squared off and Meanie struck early with a dropkick but then missed with a corner avalanche. That was all the veteran Orton needed as he capitalized on the mistake pounding Meanie with a barrage of forearm smashes. He then grabbed "Da Blue Guy" and executed a vicious Piledriver to score the pin and earn the contract. Russell attempted to congratulate Orton post-match but he simply rolled out of the ring and pointed to his head indicating he outsmarted his competition. A dazed Meanie then got o his feet and drew cheers from the crowd as he again performed the "Meanie dance" despite losing a golden opportunity for the contract.
6) Austin Aries, Brent Albright, & Kevin Steen defeated Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, & B.G. James by DQ: Intense six-man tag team action here as Jerry "The King" Lawler, "Superstar" Bill Dundee, & B.G. James took on First Family members "A Double" Austin Aries, "The Shooter" Brent Albright, & "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen who were accompanied by their manager "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart. This one exploded early as the agile Aries quickly caught Lawler with the Heat-Seeking Missile and covered him for a near fall. He then went for another top rope dive but missed and Lawler executed an inside cradle hold for a near fall of his own. Moments later, "The King" blasted Aries with a running clothesline knocking him out of the ring. That set off a wild six-way brawl with all the participants battling in and out of the ring. It ended just like that as Lawler's team got disqualified after "The King" sent Aries head first into the ring post and gave him a Piledriver on the concrete floor. As the confusion settled, Albright and Steen pulled Aries up and helped him down the aisle with Hart attempting to follow but Lawler grabbed the scrawny manager and tossed him into the ring. Hart tried to make a quick escape but was cut off by Dundee and James as Lawler entered the ring. Lawler grabbed the mic and threatened to finish off Hart unless he met his demands. Hart begged and pleaded with "The King" as Albright and Steen raced back down to the ring only to be fended off by Dundee and James. Lawler then grabbed Hart and went to punch him before Hart screamed he would meet his demands. Lawler then called LOW Commissioner Lance Russell into the ring and got his agreement to set up a No Disqualification rematch on the next MCW card where the loser of the fall would have to leave MCW. In addition, if Hart's team loses the manager will be forced to be Lawler's "assistant" for four MCW cards. Lawler added to the pot saying that if his team loses, and it's not him losing the fall, he would leave MCW as well. The crowd went wild with that announcement and Lawler celebrated by joining Dundee and James in picking Hart up and tossing him over the top rope on to Albright and Steen.
7) MCW Southern tag team titles: The French Angel & Yukon Eric© defeated D-Lo Brown & Kenny King to retain the titles: The French Angel & Yukon Eric continued their dominant reign as the MCW Southern tag team champions turning back a tough challenge from D-Lo Brown & Kenny King. The crowd was split in their support of both popular teams but perhaps were pulling a little more for Brown and King in their role as challengers. This one came down to a power advantage held by Angel and Eric as they were able to control the pace with some timely counters. Late in the battle Brown stunned the Angel with a nice clothesline and then went for a suplex but it was blocked. The Angel followed up with a barrage of menacing palm strikes and then tossed Brown out of the ring where he landed hard on the concrete floor. That fall shook up Brown and back inside it was Eric catching him in the Kodiak Krunch. King tried to make the save but was cut off by the Angel and that led to a snake eyes submission victory for Eric. The crowd had a mixed reaction to the victory but then applauded both teams as they shook hands post-match.
8) MCW Southern Heavyweight title - Barbed Wire Cage Match: Davey Richards defeated Eddie Gilbert to win the title: They say that revenge is a dish best served cold and that is how it was served up here as Davey Richards became a four-time MCW Southern Heavyweight champion by winning the belt from "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert in a bloody Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match. It was on the last MCW card where Richards watched on helplessly as Gilbert and the First Family delivered a brutal assault on Eddie Edwards putting him out of action indefinitely. That led to Richards demanding this match and MCW Commissioner Lance Russell signing off on it much to the chagrin of Gilbert and manager Jimmy Hart. This one came down to a battle of fatigue as either man could have pulled off the victory. It was Richards, however, who came out on top catching Gilbert with a spin kick and a low blow. With both men losing blood, Richards caught Gilbert with an explosive Saito Suplex and followed up with the Brainbuster to score a snake eyes pin. The crowd erupted in cheers as Richards regained the title and gained a measure of revenge for Edwards. It didn't end there, though, as Jerry Lawler entered the cage and teamed with Richards to double spear Gilbert repeatedly into the barbed wire cage. First Family members Austin Aries, Brent Albright, and Kevin Steen raced down to the ring but were met up by Bill Dundee and B.G. James setting off a wild brawl in and around the cage. MCW Officials flooded the area as well and when the dust cleared it was a bloody and unconscious Gilbert being carried off on a stretcher.
(Notes: The big news is that Davey Richards became a four-time MCW Southern Heavyweight champion by defeating Eddie Gilbert in their Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match but that fact was perhaps overshadowed by a post-match that saw Jerry "The King" Lawler, assisted by Richards, injure Gilbert in brutal fashion. This was a measure of revenge for the injury that Gilbert and the First Family inflicted on Eddie Edwards on the previous MCW card and as a result of the attack Gilbert will be sidelined indefinitely with a severe concussion injury. Manager Jimmy Hart was livid backstage calling for the head of Lawler and demanding that MCW Commissioner Lance Russell strip Richards of the title. That isn't likely to happen and even worse for Hart is the big six-man stipulation match on the next MCW card in Memphis (Card #570) where Lawler, Bill Dundee, and B.G. James face First Family members Austin Aries, Brent Albright, and Kevin Steen in a No DQ Loser of the Fall Leaves MCW match. There is also the stipulation that if Lawler's team loses he will leave MCW, even if he doesn't lose the fall, but that Hart will serve as an "assistant" or “valet” to "The King" if the First Family loses. Things have never been more explosive in MCW and it is going to be interesting to see how this situation boils over...The French Angel & Yukon Eric continued their impressive reign as MCW Southern tag team champions turning back a strong challenge from D-Lo Brown & Kenny King. It will be interesting to see what team steps up next to try and take the gold away...Cowboy Bob Orton became the newest member of the MCW roster by winning a contract in a match with the Blue Meanie. Orton brings a lot to the table and it wouldn't be surprising to see him make an immediate impact...Jazz & April Hunter posted an impressive win over Nora Greenwald & Trinity Denucci in retaining the LOW Women's tag team titles. Next up for the champions is a title defense against the Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew ( Lacey & Rain) in North Attleboro, MA (Card #565), for the NWC.)

What a treat for the fans of LOW Memphis Championship Wrestling, an appearance by the one and only Genghis Khan! Back in the 80s, I think he could have easily fit in under the often times wacky booking of Jarrett, Marlin, Lawler and Dundee. He may have fallen short against Akuma, but he's always a threat, especially if he gets to work some tag action. Many of the pre-2096 GWF wrestlers would probably work well with territories like this. A great read as always!

Thanks for the nice comments Vegas and LWPD. @vegas: That was a brutal match and it was cool seeing Davey Richards regain the title, thanks for complimenting the match description. I try to get the feel for the match after rolling it out and it's nice to know others enjoy reading the results. LWPD: I like using both Khan and Omega (renamed Chief Omega in my fed) from the 2087 set. I have also used Massif, Massacre & Brute, and Wolf in the past. They really do seem to fit well in an LOW setting. I also currently use Sly Drury, Paralyze, and The Betrayer in my CHIKARA fed as part of Ultramantis Black's team from the future.

LOW American Wrestling Enterprise - Medford Armory - Medford, OR (Card #563)
1) Playboy Buddy Rose defeated Paul Ellering: Returning to his old stomping grounds of the Pacific Northwest, Playboy Buddy Rose, a member of the freelance Sharpe Sports Agency, Inc., group, took on Paul Ellering of LOW All-Star Wrestling. Rose grabbed the mic before the match demanding to be announced at a "slim and trim" 217-pounds and claimed that he had a better physique than Ellering. Once the action got underway it was a good back and forth exchange between the two before Rose avoided a dropkick and locked on a half-Boston Crab. He then hit the Bombs Away and went for the pin but Ellering kicked out just before the three count. Rose argued with the referee and that cost him as Ellering bounced back with some nice offense. In the end, though, it was Rose avoiding a legdrop and catching Ellering with a Gut Wrench Backbreaker to score the pin.
2) Roderick Strong defeated Ken Doane: This battle of two of the top young stars in the AWE saw former LOW Junior Heavyweight champion Roderick Strong take on the brash and arrogant Ken Doane. It may have been that arrogant demeanor that did Doane in here as he controlled the pace early but briefly let his guard down leading to an explosive attack. Strong caught Doane with a running shoulder tackle off the ropes and followed with three consecutive hits with the Yakuza Kick. Doane was knocked silly and three seconds later it was all over as Strong nailed him with his finisher, the Gibson Driver, for the pin.
3) LOW Women's title: Ida Mae Martinez© defeated Penny Banner to retain the title: Ida Mae Martinez continued her successful fourth reign as LOW Women's champion by turning back a determined challenge from former two-time champion Penny Banner. Martinez struck early and often twice nailing Banner with her trademark Dropkick for near falls. She then went for a top rope dive but Banner countered with a knee and applied a Small Cradle for a near fall. Banner also struck with a barrage of flying dropkicks and trapped Martinez in a Boston Crab. Martinez fought back and, after delivering a bodyslam on the floor, she caught Banner in the Texas Cloverleaf. Banner was able to escape and went for a backdrop off the ropes but Martinez countered with a knee to the head and then executed a Cradle Hold to score the pin. Martinez retained the title after a grueling battle and Banner, though disappointed, showed some class shaking hands with the champion post-match drawing cheers from the crowd.
4) George Hackenschmidt defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan: The "Russian Lion" George Hackenschmidt, a former LOW World Heavyweight champion, threatened ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta before the match and claimed that the title was "stolen" from him. Hacksaw Jim Duggan, 2x4 in hand, stormed toward the ring and jumped Hackenschmidt before the bell. Duggan executed some nice offense before blasting Hackenschmidt with the Tough Guy Clothesline for a near fall. Hackenschmidt fought back using some of his technical skill to frustrate Duggan and then caught him in a twisting heel hook. He kept control until Duggan countered back hitting another Tough Guy Clothesline attempting to set up for the Flying Spear. He didn't get that chance, though, as Hackenschmidt was able to trap him in the Russian Bearhug. Duggan fought valiantly trying to escape the hold but Hackenschmidt cinched it on and wound up being declared the winner via submission. Hackenschmidt shot an icy glare at Duggan as the referee raised his hand in victory and gestured that he is the number one wrestler in all of LOW.
5) Bryan Danielson defeated Curt Hennig: The start of a three match series between the Strong Style Union and the Axis of Violence led to yet another casualty in the war between the two sides. This battle of the young lions from each faction, Bryan Danielson representing the SSU and Curt Hennig representing the AOV, was hotly contested. Hennig dominated most of the early action connecting with the rolling neck snap and running knee lift. Danielson countered a top rope dive with a knee to the head and executed a top rope huracanrana for a near fall. He followed with a suicide dive and then trapped Hennig in the Lebell Lock going for the submission. Hennig tried to counter out of it and wound up getting to the ropes for a break just when it looked like he would tap out. Danielson poured on more offense before Hennig countered a corner whip with an elbow to the head. Hennig then went for a deathjump but it was again countered by Danielson. Moments later it was Danielson placing Hennig on the top rope and coming off with a Back Superplex and pinning his shoulders to the mat for the three count. It was a snake eyes decision and Danielson paid a price as the Masked Superstar, who wasn't even booked to appear, hit the ring and helped Hennig attack Danielson. They gave him a double slingshot off the ropes followed by a wicked Spinning Neckbreaker from the Superstar. Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens hit the ring to make the save but were too late as Danielson suffered a neck injury in the attack.
6) Larry Zbyszko & John Pesek defeated Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens: A huge win for the AOV as Larry Zbyszko & John Pesek defeated SSU members Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens in a heated tag match. Bockwinkel and Stevens angrily waited in the ring after the attack on Bryan Danielson and went toe-to-toe with Zbyszko and Pesek in this one. Early action saw Stevens gain a near fall on Pesek after coming off the top rope with a flying bodypress. Bockwinkel followed trapping Pesek in the Figure Four Leglock but Zbyszko made the save resulting in a four-way brawl. Zbyszko and Pesek later nailed Stevens with a double-team backbreaker before Pesek hit a fireman's carry slam for a near fall. Stevens battled back and, after an exchange with Bockwinkel, tagged back in and caught Pesek with the Bombs Away for a big near fall. Pesek survived that close call and, after running Stevens hard into the ring post, wound up trapping him in the Double Wristlock. Bockwinkel tried to make the save but was cut off by Zbyszko and Stevens was forced to tap out giving the AOV team an impressive submission victory.
7) Abraham Lincoln defeated Iron Mike Dibiase by DQ: As "Four score and seven years ago..." blared over the public address system, SSU member Abraham Lincoln walked to the ring to a thunderous ovation prepared to take on AOV leader Iron Mike Dibiase in a big grudge match. The former President was bound and determined to send a message to the AOV by beating the faction leader. Lincoln surprised Dibiase early by trapping him in a full nelson that nearly resulted in a submission. Dibiase fought back locking on a sleeper hold before going into a nice exchange of holds and counter holds with Lincoln. The tide turned when Lincoln caught Dibiase with a headlock throw for a near fall and again trapped him in the full nelson. Dibiase was in trouble and that resulted in AOV members Larry Zbyszko and John Pesek hitting the ring attacking Lincoln. They were quickly followed in by Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens resulting in a wild six-way brawl between the two factions. When the dust settled it was Lincoln being declared the winner via disqualification and then grabbing the mic challenging the AOV team to a six-man tag team match on the next AWE card. Dibiase accepted the challenge and warned that Lincoln had "bitten off more than you can chew".
8) Falls Count Anywhere Match: Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon defeated John & Chris Tolos: This blood feud between the brother tag team combinations of Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon and the Hamilton Wrecking Crew (John & Chris Tolos) has reached new levels of brutality and that was on display here in this Falls Count Anywhere Match. Eye gouges, punches, kicks, and chokes played a part throughout this one as both teams looked to secure an important victory. The Tolos Brothers got the upper hand in the early going with Chris nearly pinning Butcher after a running boot to the face. John secured another near fall when he caught Mad Dog with a succession of standing knee drops. The Vachon's fought back hard, though, and it was Mad Dog hitting his trademark Piledriver on John for a big near fall. The two teams of course fought out of the ring and even into the crowd during this one. In fact, they wound up in the locker room area at one point with John covering Mad Dog for a near fall after a bodyslam on the concrete. Another great near fall came when John caught Mad Dog with the Flying Knee Drop in the aisle with Butcher making a last second save. This one came to an end courtesy of a second Piledriver when Mad Dog, after running John head first into the ring post, delivered the devastating move back on the inside to score the pin.
(Notes: The brutal rivalry between the Strong Style Union and Axis of Violence claimed another victim as SSU member Bryan Danielson was put out of action with a serious neck injury. That came after Danielson defeated AOV member Curt Hennig in a great bout only to have the Masked Superstar run in post-match. With the AWE scheduled to return to Danielson's home state of Washington (Card #567 in Seattle), where Danielson and The Destroyer were set to face Hennig and Superstar in a tag team match, the AOV made sure that they would get the upper hand. Superstar injured Danielson with his devastating Spinning Neckbreaker before Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens could make the save. The Destroyer was not in attendance but sent word to local reporters post-match that the tag match is still on and the SSU will be represented by himself and - The Crusher! As for Danielson, he is out of action for an indefinite period due to the neck injury and will be forced to miss a scheduled booking upcoming in CHIKARA. Also scheduled for Seattle is Bockwinkel and Stevens joining forces with Abraham Lincoln to go against the AOV team of Iron Mike Dibiase, Larry Zbyszko, & John Pesek. Lincoln got the better of Dibiase in their match and, with SSU leader Bobby "The Brain" Heenan still away on business, took it upon himself to issue the challenge. Bockwinkel and Stevens will also be looking for revenge after dropping their tag match to Zbyszko and Pesek...Speaking of tag team action, Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon scored a big win over their rivals John & Chris Tolos in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere Match. The two teams have had some incredible battles and this was the latest chapter in a war that will no doubt continue...Ida Mae Martinez looked strong in retaining the LOW Women's title in her match with Penny Banner. Martinez has been enjoying a solid fourth reign as champion but former champion Sherri Martel is anxiously awaiting her rematch...SSA, Inc. member Playboy Buddy Rose, who gained his greatest fame in the Pacific Northwest, is on tour with the AWE for the shows in Medford and Seattle. Rose talked to the local reporters backstage and vowed to one day bring championship gold back to the SSA, coming on the heels of Red Bastien having held the LOW Junior Heavyweight title.)

I like what you're doing with Honest Abe. The Strong Style Union vs Axis of Violence has the makings of a tremendous rivalry. Vachons vs Tolos Brothers would have been amazing to watch in real life, but reading your account of the action is the next best thing. I have a few people tracking down surviving footage of the Mad Dog's prime, one of the great (but difficult to review) workers of the era. BTW...your 'Notes' section is a fantastic feature, its always cool to read the inner thoughts of the man behind the pencil!
