Thanks very much for the comments Pariah and Crimson. Sabu over Dick Hutton could be termed an upset but credit Sabu for earning that one and for more on the aftermath of that check out this upcoming edition of LOW All-Star Wrestling. I don't like to hype things up, or toot my own horn, but I promise you will enjoy this ASW show featuring some major announcements. I am changing up my territory system in the next game year and you will get some of the details here. Hope you enjoy the action as the build to WrestleCade X weekend continues...
LOW All-Star Wrestling (Episode 58) - WMC-TV5 Studios - Memphis, TN (Card #991)
Announcers Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcomed the studio audience and home viewers to what they said would certainly be an historic episode of LOW All-Star Wrestling as WrestleCade X draws near. Russell brought up the 12-Man Gold Star Battle Royal at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY (Card #985) where Bobo Brazil outlasted the field of participants to earn a shot at reigning LOW World Heavyweight champion Johnny Valentine at WrestleCade X which takes place at the Astrodome in Houston, TX (Card #1000). Both men agreed that the match should be an outstanding main event and that the former champion Brazil will be hungry to regain the belt that he lost to Valentine. Russell said that they had more regarding WrestleCade X weekend that would be revealed at the conclusion of the broadcast but that first there was even more important news to get to. With that he sent it over to LOW Commissioner Charlie Cox who was sitting along with a number of luminaries inside of a boardroom at LOW headquarters in New York City:
Cox thanked both Russell and Brown for their continued excellent work as the announcers of LOW All-Star Wrestling and stated that the men and women joining him in the boardroom comprised all of the promotional staff of the Northern Wrestling Corporation, Southern Wrestling Alliance, American Wrestling Enterprise and the Global Wrestling Association, the four original territories that built the foundation of LOW. He said that ten years of hard work from everyone involved in those four promotions had brought us to the mega event that will be WrestleCade X and that the aftermath of that show will mark the dawn of a new era in LOW. With that he formally announced that the four main territories of LOW – NWC, SWA, AWE and GWA – will now be merging into one under the new name of the Capitol Wrestling Alliance. The promotion will cover the vast majority of the United States while Pacific Coast Wrestling, a strong territory that has come into its own under the LOW banner, will remain an affiliated stronghold on the west coast of the country. A video was then aired naming the promotions that will be affiliated with LOW, including some new ones that will have their debut under the LOW banner:
● Capitol Wrestling Alliance (CWA)
● Pacific Coast Wrestling (PCW)
● Kings Road United (KRU – Japan)
● Independent Wrestling Association (IWA)
● SHIMMER – Women Athletes
● 80’s Mania Wrestling (8MW)
● World of Sport (WOS – England)
● Golden Age Wrestling (GWA)
Cox thanked everyone involved for their efforts in bringing LOW into this new era and that he is very excited about the changes. It was then announced that the three new promotions – 8MW, World of Sport and Golden Age Wrestling - will bring even more excitement to what LOW already offers. The debut card for 8MW, subtitled Alf vs. Willie, will take place at The Ballroom (Card #1006) while World of Sport, which will use traditional World of Sport rounds rules, will debut at Town Hall in Leeds, England (Card #1022). Golden Age Wrestling, featuring some legendary stars, will have their debut show at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines, IA (Card #1027). All three promotions will be a regular part of the LOW schedule in the new calendar year and in addition Kings Road United has added a fourth tour to their schedule along with running both Tokyo Dome and Seibu Dome events. He then talked about the IWA having King of Trios and Supercard of Honor during the year and added that the revised rosters for the promotions should be released shortly after the Tokyo Dome (Card #1001). In conclusion he said that the upcoming SWA (Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN – Card #995) and AWE (Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN – Card #996) shows will be their final events held under the LOW banner before becoming a part of the Capitol Wrestling Alliance and that big matches are planned for both events leading up to WrestleCade X weekend.
Russell and Brown took over analyzing what was just announced and both agreed that these major changes will have ramifications on all of the talent currently under contracts with LOW and even those that are free agents. Russell noted that talent scouts for LOW and the affiliated promotions have been combing the world in recent weeks trying to assemble the rosters and so it will be very interesting to see how it all turns out. Brown agreed and added that LOW is undergoing a transformation that will take getting used to but ultimately could be an incredible experience for all involved. Russell then asked Brown to give his rundown of the action on the show.
DB: “Thanks Lance, and boy do we have a big show today as later on both Mil Mascaras and Andre the Giant will be on hand to have a contract signing for their match at WrestleCade X. In addition to that we have exclusive interviews with SWA star Blackjack Mulligan and NWC manager Abdullah Farouk, though Mulligan will be in studio while we have a satellite interview with Farouk. In action today in our opening match we have members of Sherri Sports Agency, Inc. in six-man tag team action along with the return from injury of SWA star “Bullet” Bob Armstrong, GWA star Paul London, the imposing “King Kong” Bruiser Brody and the return of free agent star Pampero Firpo, the “Wild Bull of the Pampas”. Now let’s go over to ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta for the introductions to our opening match.”
1) Playboy Buddy Rose, The Mountie, & Tom Prichard defeated S.D. Jones, Chief Omega, & George South:
ASW favorites S.D. Jones, Chief Omega, & George South took on the SSA, Inc. team of Playboy Buddy Rose, The Mountie, & Dr. Tom Prichard. The PCW trio were joined by their manager, Sherri Martel, who briefly stopped by the announce table to say that The Mountie will bring the PWI Cup to SSA, Inc. Jones nearly pulled an upset early when he caught Rose with the series of jabs and a suplex for a two count. Martel yelled at the referee before caressing the hair of Rose as he fell back into the corner. Rose would come back with some nice offense hitting his key moves like the DDT and gut wrench backbreaker. As the match progressed it was Prichard using a piece of rope to choke out South with a Foreign Object attack resulting in a two count. The Mountie took full advantage of South hitting a piledriver but then arrogantly pulling him up at the count of two. The Mountie then showed off his aerial skills as he went to the top rope for a deathjump hitting South with a Flying Bodypress to score the pin.
2) Paul London defeated Trent Acid:
Trent Acid, one-half of the Backseat Boys, took on GWA star Paul London in a highly anticipated bout. London is on his way to WrestleCade X to challenge Danny Hodge for the LOW Junior Heavyweight title and was looking to impress here. Early on Acid caught him up top with a bodyslam and trapped him in the Acid Lock for a submission chance. London rebounded with a nice attack and then slid out to the floor taunting Russell. He yelled to him about the time he slapped him in the face and then said he had a message for Hodge to shine up the title belt. Russell sat silently but Brown spoke up and said that London had best remember that Hodge nominated him for the title shot based on the feeling that the Austin, TX, native has “disgraced” the junior heavyweight division with his past actions. The finish of a fast paced bout saw London nail Acid with a slingshot dropkick followed up by a 450 Splash to score the pin.
● Interview – Blackjack Mulligan:
Lance Russell ventured over to ringside to speak with Blackjack Mulligan, the 6’9” SWA star out of Eagle Pass, TX. Russell thanked Mulligan for his time and asked him about his upcoming match with fellow SWA star Angelo “King Kong” Mosca in the first round of the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament taking place during WrestleCade X weekend. Mulligan said that he and Mosca go back a long way and have a lot on common, including both men having played professional football. He said that he has fought both with and against Mosca and he plans on taking him out and eventually winning the PWI Cup. Mulligan then said he had another person to address and that is manager Sir Oliver Humperdink. He said that the war between him and the House of Humperdink had gone on for far too long and now with the SWA running their final show it was time to settle it. He called for Humperdink to don the tights himself and join his men for an eight-man Steel Cage Match and may the best team win. He acknowledged that Humperdink has a lot on his plate, especially with Johnny Valentine holding the LOW World Heavyweight title, but that the manager should face the fire and get in the ring for this final showdown. Mulligan said he will be bringing his friends Hillbilly Jim, Tracy Smothers and Mike Graham to Memphis at the Mid-South Coliseum (Card #995) and that he expects Humperdink and his men to answer the challenge. Russell said that should be a most interesting night of action and that the SWA will go out with an all-out war between Team Mulligan and the House of Humperdink inside the steel cage.
3) Bob Armstrong defeated Matt Striker:
The return to action of SWA star “Bullet” Bob Armstrong saw him take on Matt Striker. Armstrong suffered a neck injury at the hands of “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and it was clear that he was back with a vengeance. He battered Striker both in and out of the ring and pretty much dominated the bout. Striker showed some perseverance kicking out twice from pin attempts but Armstrong kept up his assault. A barrage of karate chops was followed by a Vertical Suplex from Armstrong who floated over on top of Striker to score the pin.
Armstrong went over to the announce table afterward but before he could even say anything he was distracted by the appearance of Pacific Coast Wrestling stars Tommy & Doug Gilbert. Things got pretty tense between the three men so Lance Russell got in between them trying to prevent any physicality. Armstrong said that the father-and-son duo needed to keep out of his business with Eddie and that they would settle it one-one-one. He challenged Eddie to meet him in a No DQ Match on the Mid-South Coliseum card and Tommy stepped in accepting the match on behalf of his son. Armstrong said that he respected Tommy but he had no choice but to try and take some revenge on Eddie. That set off Doug who got in the face of “Bullet” Bob and shoved him. Armstrong responded by slapping Doug across the face setting of a wild scene. Tommy grabbed Doug by the arms and pulled him away as a fired up Armstrong said that if the entire Gilbert family shows up that night he will take them all out. Russell asked him to calm down and Armstrong did but left with a final message that while Eddie has family he has family too and maybe he will be making some phone calls. The studio audience cheered that as Russell acknowledged this situation could get extremely heated in the very near future.
4) Bruiser Brody defeated Ricky Landell:
Few would have given St. Paul, MN, native Ricky Landell a chance against “King Kong” Bruiser Brody but he showed something in this match. Brody, who is going to face his nemesis “Macho Man” Randy Savage in a Loser Leaves LOW – Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match at WrestleCade X, seemed distracted perhaps wondering if Savage were going to jump him during the match. Lance Russell then announced that Savage had been barred from the studio so the next time that he and Brody would meet would be at WrestleCade X. Landell absorbed some brutal punishment from Brody but kept coming back and at one point even hit the Top Rope Fist Drop for a two count. Brody poured it on late and laid out Landell with a vicious Piledriver to score the pin. Brody grabbed his chain post-match and slammed it on the announce table before yelling out “Huss, Huss!” and storming off to the back. Dave Brown sent it to commercial noting that Brody against Savage will be a war for the ages.
5) Pampero Firpo defeated Johnny Kashmere:
The other half of the Backseat Boys, Johnny Kashmere, went up against the returning free agent star Pampero Firpo out of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was announced during the match that Firpo has been signed to appear at the Tokyo Dome (Card #1001) for Kings Road United facing AWE star The French Angel in what should be a wild battle. Kashmere fared well early until Firpo took it out to the floor and battered him around ringside. Firpo then used the bearhug to wear down Kashmere before he trapped him in the El Garfio, his version of the feared claw hold, to get the victory via submission.
● Interview – Abdullah Farouk:
Abdullah Farouk, the manager of The Sheik in the NWC, was interviewed by Lance Russell via satellite from a hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. Russell went right to the hot question and asked Farouk about what is going on with Sabu based on recent incidents involving him and manager Bill Alfonso. Farouk snapped back that Alfonso is now “ancient history” and that he has signed Sabu to an exclusive contract. He said that the recent NWC card in Atlantic City was the end for Alfonso as Sabu put him through a table and came home where he belongs. Russell said word that he had received was that Alfonso is indeed out of commission courtesy of Sabu but wondered how Farouk had signed him to a contract. Farouk said it was very simple and that Alfonso failed to remember the expiration date written into the contract and that he had actually had Sabu under contract for the past few weeks. Russell asked why he allowed Alfonso to continue managing Sabu if he was no longer legally able to. He said it was a way to teach the former referee a valuable lesson that he will never be in the league of the great Farouk. He said that he instructed Sabu to lull Alfonso into a false sense of security before doing the damage he did that night in Atlantic City. Russell was amazed at the depths that Farouk had sunk to in order to get one over on a fellow manager but Farouk laughed it off. He said that Alfonso was not worth his time anymore and that Sabu is now back where he belongs aligned with his uncle, the “Noble” Sheik, and that they will once again be the most formidable combination of talent in all of LOW. As Russell tried to end the interview he was cut off by Farouk who said that unlike Alfonso he is a master of contract negotiation and that The Sheik & Sabu will be taking center stage as they team up to face The Destroyer & Jushin “Thunder” Liger at the Tokyo Dome (Card #1001). Russell said that was huge news and thanked Farouk for his time before going to commercial break.
6) Contract Signing for WrestleCade X – Andre the Giant vs. Mil Mascaras:
Both Lance Russell and Dave Brown were inside the ring surrounded by chairs and a table. Russell then introduced Mil Mascaras, the record seven-time LOW World Heavyweight champion, who showed up wearing a nice navy blue suit along with his trademark silver and black mask. Russell asked him for a few words and Mascaras said that he was ready to sign a contract for what he considers to be the most important match of his career. Brown then took over and made the introductions for the “Eighth Wonder of the World” Andre the Giant, the only undefeated star in the history of LOW. Andre, wearing a custom made suit built to fit his large frame, slowly made his way into the ring by stepping over the top rope. He then grabbed the mic from Brown and said that Mascaras was making a big mistake by attempting to end his undefeated streak at WrestleCade X. In a booming voice and thick French accent he simply said that no one, including Mascaras, was capable of beating him especially on the biggest stage of LOW.
Mascaras was about to speak when Andre said that he wasn’t finished speaking. He said that unlike himself Mascaras has been afforded every opportunity to succeed as a champion in LOW while he has never been given the same opportunities. He chastised Mascaras for turning down a spot in the 12-Man Gold Star Battle Royal for a world title shot in order to try and end his undefeated streak. Mascaras then spoke up and said that he did not need to explain himself and that he is prepared to sign for the match. He quickly grabbed the contract and signed it before dropping the pen on the table. Andre leaned down to sign but backed off and grabbed the microphone. He said that he is not “some dumb giant” and that he will not sign the contract without looking it over first. As he began reading it there was a commotion from the side door as none other than AWE manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan entered the building and got into the ring. Mascaras, Russell and Brown looked on surprised but Andre had a big smile on his face. He handed the contract to Heenan to look over and said that no one will take advantage of him again as he now has a new manager to handle all of his contract negotiations.
Mascaras stepped back into the corner as Russell exclaimed that he was “shocked” over this turn of events. Heenan laughed and handed the contract to Andre to sign and said that he is now the manager of the most unstoppable force in all of professional wrestling. He said that signing Andre the Giant to a contract was the biggest coup of his illustrious managerial career and that there is no better way to celebrate it then by seeing him crush Mascaras at WrestleCade X. Andre poked his finger into the chest of Mascaras and flashed an evil smile before bellowing out that he was going to defeat him at the Astrodome. Heenan called for Andre to leave the ring and save it for WrestleCade X which he did leaving a stunned Mascaras behind. Russell and Brown had to regroup as well as time was running out. Russell then threw it to a music video, set to G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) by The Cult, revealing the currently scheduled match lineups for WrestleCade X weekend:

The other half of the Backseat Boys, Johnny Kashmere, went up against the returning free agent star Pampero Firpo out of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
