Ok here is where I am at. Getting ready to start 2089 and the book says he still wrestles Royal Overlord occassionally. I am wondering if I should have him stay active or just wrestle Overlord every so many cards or cut him out altogether and just use him and Overlord as managers? This would help cut down the amount of matches I would have to run and allow me to speed my years up. Thoughts!

In my fed, Omega declared that he was retiring. I'm not closing the door on any Omega vs. Overlord matches. You never know what could come up, but it's been very easy for me to allow Omega to settle into the background.

I think the key to using these guys, is to only use them when it can settle a feud or they work as a partner or six man tandem with their wrestlers.
That's what I plan on doing when I get to 2089.

I can see Omega teaming with Warrior every once in a while against Overlord and one of the Court, but that's about it. I had him pretty much done by that point, myself. I actually started phasing him out in 2088, as I recall (and I am going with the end of 2087 in my online restart).

I think jemllo and Mark nailed it. Kind of like when Bruno made his "comeback" in like 1985 / 1986.

I used him in some manager matches and a few tag and six man tag matches, but that's about it. Probably 24 matches in the whole year.

I'm turned him into my Commissioner, and only use him as "filler."

I kept him as a active wrestler trying to have one more shot a glory. He wrestled with Star Warrior in tag matches and sometimes teamed up with Commander Sam trying to find that last bit of glory at the end of his career. That way I was able to set up a Retirement Match and send him and Commander Sam off in a blaze of glory. Then I used him and Commander Sam as managers in the strictest sense. In my minds eye, I figured both him and Sam still had lots of heat due to being the champs so long in my early years fed.

There's a lot of good advice in this thread. Having an established legend on the roster with low tier stats creates a tough creative challenge. How do you maximize Omega's value? Strategic Tag and 6 Man matches can be very effective ways of protecting the legend. A Royal Overlord vs Omega program done with smoke and mirrors can also come off as something special.
I'd imagine a card booked from Cetus circa 2089 with Omega on the line up would be similar to a Charlotte card from the Nitro/Raw Eras with Ric Flair on the marque. In a similar sense a GWF circuit that was running from the glory days of the Classics Era could have its own version of Flair Country where the people remember the glory days and Omega could do no wrong. While at these stages neither Omega or Flair were anywhere near their peaks...the audience still connects and believes in their heroes. It was amazing how Flair was still a ratings draw on late day Nitro even when the booking wasn't anywhere near supportive. There's a certain value in nostalgia which can be captured with the right storylines...and sometimes even in spite of the creative.

I am thinking of teaming him with Earthquake while Massif still holds the IP belt. This will let Massif run with it until he loses it an dthen go on with Powerhouse
