Why would Tom ask you, or any other player, for their advice? Tom didn't ask any of the "inner circle" for their advice on this. This shouldn't be about any person or people, it's about the game. I remeber a time when Tom seemed much more accessible to us.There was "ask federation headquarters" And I remember conversing with him a number of times about anything COTG related. This isn't Milton Bradley here. I ment ask our opinion is all, not wether he ougt to to this or not. So, do you like the idea of colored cards?

as the old saying goes folks "DON'T HATE THE PLAYER, HATE THE GAME." i do understand that the market is very competitive. I graduated with a business degree, and i was in business for years...sales, retail, etc....and i know to show your product you need to have the muscle- and stan lee is the muscle. So i don't blame Tom, he is doing the right thing- but you know what, give credit where credit is due. He is a very kind and pleasant man to chat with- his ideas are awesome, and you know he does care about us the -the players!,,darn- i do miss his wife making those awesome brownies * **sigh**

I don't see how Tom isn't even MORE accessible NOW that we have message boards, you can follow Tom on twitter, facebook (Tom has his own facebook page and there's a COTG FB page) than he was when you could just "ask Fed HQ" (which you can still do. I'm pretty sure Tom still gets mail delivered to him by the local Jamestown UPS).
Tom's interest has always been to the fans of this game. But he also has to try and create an interest for people who don't already play.
Tom didn't ask me if Bloodline and Encubus could form Divided We Fall but it seemed to work out ok. Tom writes the game how he wants. It's only been getting better and better each and every year and this year -- it will rise to an entirely new level!

Tom and I spent the entire basketball season talking about the Cavs via Twitter. And I'm not talking a message every couple of weeks. There were some nights with 4 or 5 shots back and forth. I even shoot him results via Twitter sometimes and he usually replies back.

I definitely see the need for the "upgrade" (i.e. color cards), but wouldn't know if it was cost feasible, but it would be a happy medium to have them offered in both color and black and white.

I'm excited about the full color. I'd convert all my cards to full color if I could. It just adds so much to the characters and to me, it's worth it! It's a good thing for me, so I might be one of the odd guys out I guess?!

That wouldn't make much sense. That would be like making a movie in color and in black & white. You do it one way, or the other. Totally awesome you have that opinion and awesome you are sharing.

Is color really that big of a deal though? I understand what you're saying but it's still the same game. It's just the aesthetics of the game. It's not like he made a fundamental change to how the game is actually played.
Let me ask you this. What would upset you more. Going to color and keeping a print product or the product being Online only?

I wouldn't hold your breath on that.
While I see what you guys are saying, I also think that making the GWF more like everything else out there is a bad move... you want to focus on what makes your product unique. Many, many sports board games (APBA, Strat-o-Matic, Statis Pro, etc) use pretty plain player cards. Have some added splashes of color in recent years? Sure. Could flashy packaging get someone to buy something once? Sure.
But it's the GAME that need to draw people in. I think a low price point and a unique look are more valuable than color... but that's just me.
The Price isn't just about money, it's about Value. Just because something is inexpensive doesn't mean it's worth that money.
Besides, the lower the price, the more likely someone will take a flyer on the game... I wouldn't dismiss it's importance so easily.
I'm sure most of the people that post here will buy the set at nearly any price, we're not who matters... it's those new guys out there that matter... and they've been very few and far between.
