Saturday Night Special at Indianapolis Indiana The broadcast began with an earlier interview with Ted Dibiase. Dibiase announced his return with a match against fellow favorite Jim Brunzell. Ted explained that he would like his first match back on a more scientific level than one of those "two-bit" slugfests around here.
Interviewer Bill Apter questioned Dibiase on what happened to cause his hiatus. Dibiase said he had to get some family business in order and that his father invested heavily in a moderately-sized chain of service stations and commercial properties in Oklahoma through Northern Texas. Apparently one piece of land had an oil well and an international corporation purchased the rights to all the family holdings. After months of negotiation (and a working vacation in Japan and Hawaii), Dibiase was happy to announce to get his mind off business and back to full time wrestling. Dibiase ended the interview with a long laugh, leaving Apter somewhat puzzled.
Match One: Ted Dibiase over Jim Brunzell. Dibiase kept the match on the ground and controlled most of the contest. Dibiase used a cobra clutch sleeper to defeat Brunzell.
Match Two: Blackjack Mulligan DQ over Dutch Savage. Dutch hardly waited for the bell as he wanted to get his hands on Sir Oliver's henchman. The Big Texan likely represented Humperdink's cowardly and treacherous behavior. Eventually, all the brawling caused, all hell to break loose outside the ring. Dutch slammed Mulligan's head with a chair apparently fed up with how the match was going. Sir Oliver smartly scurried away, figuring he was next as the referee disqualified Dutch for using the chair.
Announcement: Tag Team Champions Stars & Stripes versus Jimmy Hart's Original Midnight Express.
Returning from a commercial, Jimmy Hart was in the ring by himself as he had an announcement to make. Hart explained that the title match contract had a clause if the challengers could not appear he would select a suitable replacement. Unfortunately, the Original Midnights could not arrive in town due to travel problems but he has found suitable challengers. Hart explained he had to scramble because of his recent financial speed bumps and he knew this title shot meant so much.
However, he will stay in the corner for this team: Ted Dibiase and Andre The Giant!. Hart mentioned they acquired his services and will do his best to lead them to the gold.
Match Three: TWF Tag Team Champions Stars & Stripes versus Andre The Giant and Ted Dibiase. Andre and Dibiase dominated Bagwell early on as the challengers isolated Bagwell from Patriot. Andre used a BIG SPLASH and a Sitdown Splash to totally stun Bagwell. Dibiase quickly tagged in to apply the "MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER" on a nearly unconscious Bagwell to win the match and the titles!
Hart celebrated at ringside and wanted to make an announcement that his MILLION DOLLAR TEAM is worth MEGABUCKS! Dibiase introduced his director of security Virgil who handed Hart a briefcase with payment for his service. Fans were irate and pelted this foursome with trash as they made the way down the aisle with the belts!
Bill Apter interview with Randy Savage: The return from commercial had Apter conduct a special interview at Randy Savage's request. Savage is scheduled to face Nick Bockwinkel in a TWF Title Bout with Andre The Giant as special referee. Savage was confused and disgusted that Andre aligned himself with Hart & Dibiase. He also wondered how the Giant will behave while officiating the TWF Title Bout coming next...
Match Four: TWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel def. Randy Savage with Andre The Giant as Guest Referee. Bockwinkel had Heenan in his corner who did not look worried that one of his enemies was the third man in the ring. Savage had the Huntress is in his corner to even things at ringside but Savage jawed at Andre questioning his actions from earlier in the card. Andre ignored this and also ignored much of the rules that Heenan and Bockwinkel bent during the match. Mostly resulted in slow counts off chokeholds or using the ropes. Ultimately, Bockwinkel gained the advantage and used a SLEEPER and FIGURE FOUR to trap Savage on the mat. Randy looked like he would break the hold by turning over but Heenan would assist Bockwinkel to hold him steady. Andre routinely ignored this and Savage ultimately passed out from the pain. Bockwinkel won the match but refused to release the figure four. Andre "counted" to release but was taking forever to get past a two-count. Luckily for Savage, Hacksaw Duggan raced from the back and cleaned house on Bockwinkel and Heenan forcing a staredown with Andre. Duggan kept asking Andre why, why? Andre only had a blank stare for Duggan to end the broadcast.
Other matches: Lanny Poffo and SD Jones def. Johnny Rodz and Mr. X. Poffo and Jones looked sharp here and Poffo used a SKY DROP to polish off Rodz in this fast paced match.
Magnum TA with Jim Duggan def. Iron Sheik with Eddie Fyne. Duggan represented USA in Magnum's corner and was a great boost for moral support. However it was Duggan's 2X4 which was the equalizer as Duggan smashed Sheik after Fyne tried to punch Magnum with a roll of quarters. Magnum used a sleeperhold to win the match.
Tony Atlas def. Roddy Piper, DQ. Piper controlled most of the match using cord to choke Tony after the match spilled to ringside. Atlas made a remarkable comeback with a PRESS SLAM onto the concrete. Atlas tried the same move once inside the ring, but Piper's henchman Ace Orton slammed Tony from behind prompting a DQ.
NOTES: Dibiase shocked the crowd winning two matches and the tag-team titles. Skeptics claim that Dibiase's new found riches certainly impacted the Original Midnight Express travel problems, but Hart and Dibiase are not saying a word about this, only that Dibiase purchased Hart's "services" for this match. Interesting..... Stars & Stripes impressive tag-team title reign is over but fans will remember the exciting teamwork and matches the duo had...Duggan returned in a big way, first in the TWF Title Match then helping Magnum get the win. Duggan has long been a favorite but has not faced a challenge such as this...Savage was upset and also injured during his title challenge. An angry Macho Man will comment on this situation in the coming weeks.

TWF at Dallas, Texas JJ Dillon def. Jim Powers after two ELBOW DROPS. Dillon surprised the crowd with a solid victory.
Masked Superstar def. George South. The Superstar made a big return. He pummelled South from the bell and ended the match after slamming him outside then finished with the COBRA HOLD.
Blackjack Mulligan over Dutch Savage. Blackjack did not wait for the bell but Dutch reversed this attack and these two had a great back and forth slugfest. Mulligan used a Back Elbow Ram for the pin but the brawl continued after the bell. A standard match is not enough for this rivalry and TWF officials may sanction a match with less restrictions in the future.
Stars & Stripes (Patriot and Bagwell) def. TWF Tag-Team Champions Megabucks (Andre The Giant and Ted Dibiase with Virgil) 2-0. One of the falls ended in a disqualification after Virgil interfered so the champions retain the titles. Nothing was resolved in this rematch from the Megabucks title win in Indianapolis.
Jim Duggan and Mystery Partner Randy Savage were disqualified against Jimmy Hart's "Original" Midnight Express (Condrey and Rose). Savage wanted revenge on everyone involved or who he thinks was involved in his unsuccessful title challenge with Andre The Giant as special referee. Duggan spoke with the Wrestling News' Bill Apter to announce Savage as his partner. Savage was visibly irate and held his head with both hands saying he cannot control the madness. Both men raced to the ring and Savage spent most of the time in the ring. The Macho Man absorbed some punishment but dished out just as much. The end came when Savage surprisingly grabbed Jimmy Hart's megaphone and slammed Condrey in the back of the head. He then chased Rose and Hart to the back. Luckily for the pair, a throng of security held back Savage from some damage and Duggan finally talked Savage out of pursuing the matter further - for now. What a wild match.
TWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel (with Bobby Heenan) def. Magnum TA, disqualification. TA got very rowdy once the action spilled to the floor. Bockwinkel frustrated Magnum by constantly choking the challenger against the ropes and also used the ropes when using the FIGURE-FOUR. Very controversial ending which left the fans bewildered and upset.
Roddy Piper def. Tony Atlas in a Lumberjack Match. Lumberjacks on both sides got involved but after Atlas missed a turnbuckle charge, Piper got the win with a tag-rope assisted SLEEPER.
NOTES: Another surprising night of TWF action from the Big D as five of the big matchups had some type of cloudy ending. Rumor has it that TWF officials are trying to sign a No-DQ rematch for the tag-team titles but nothing was confirmed... Speaking of No-DQ the feud between Blackjack Mulligan and Dutch Savage may require some type of stipulation to ensure a decisive finish....Magnum TA was very disappointed on the outcome of his TWF title match and while Bockwinkel controlled the action, TA said it was his fault he lost his temper as he was beginning to rally back....Finally, Randy Savage was overheard screaming about the Midnight Express, The Megabucks and Bobby Heenan. Once the Macho Man's temper is flared anyone in his sights should use caution as he is unpredictable to say the least.

Notes: Busy night in the TWF as some wrestlers had 2 and even 3 matches. Along with the elimination tag, fans got to see nearly every TWF superstar in action...Dutch Savage won the Coal Miners Glove Match, but was immediately challenged to a "Texas Tow Chain" match with Mulligan. TWF officials granted this match but one has to wonder how many ways this feud can extend....Roddy Piper and Rick Rude met in a bloody brawl which Piper rallied to win. These two have signed for another go-round at the next TWF event...Tony Atlas impressed with his win in the Wild Card match while the Megabucks shown why they were champions as Andre rolled through the Patriot in a 2-1 situation as the former tag-title co-holder could not fight the odds.
See you at ringside!

New Blood Tournament at Rochester, NY
Evening began with Bill Apter from the Wrestling News introducing his newest colleague: Mike Lano! Apter announced that Lano will assist with photography of the matches, especially ones that conflict with his interviewing duties. Newcomer Lord Zoltan warned both Apter and Lano not to disturb his tournament match with Sam Houston. Zoltan claimed he had a score to settle with Houston and menacingly approached Lano. Houston rushed to ringside before things got physical and TWF officials had to break up the skirmish before it got too intense.
Quarterfinals: Bill White upset Fantastic Bobby Fulton with a Power Slam and Atomic Drop for the win. Fred Curry downed Ron Hutchinson with a Missile Dropkick in a short match. Fantastic Tommy Rogers won by DQ over Bull Curry. Curry was uncontrollable and the ref stopped the match when the wild man used a chair on Rogers leg. Sam Houston beat his rival Lord Zoltan. Zoltan roughed up the Cowboy and even applied the Triangle but Houston used 3 BULLDOGS to wear down Zoltan. Mike Lano's camera also came into play as Zoltan continued his threats from earlier. The rangy cowboy put a stop to any altercation and wore down his rival.
Number One International Contender Malia Hosaka beat Ladies Champion Shann-Ra to win the title! Hosaka surprised the crowd with her devastating Karate Kicks. She wrapped up the title win with a Frankensteiner and Back Elbow for the pin. The energetic crowd was whipped into a frenzy for the title change!
Semifinals Fred Curry beat Bill White. Curry's speed was too much as he used a dropkick from the apron followed by a KO of White with a devasting Right Hand Punch. Flying Fred advanced to the finals.
Tommy Rogers beat Sam Houston in a scientific encounter. Rogers used a power slam on a stunned Houston, who was sluggish from the effects of Zoltan's Triangle Hold in the quarterfinals.
Randy Savage and Surprise Partner Diamond Dallas Page defeated Tag-Team Champions Andre The Giant and Ted Dibiase. DDP was the Surprise Partner much to the delight of the War Memorial Crowd. Sensing a title change, they hung on every big move from DDP and Savage. The Flying Ax Handle and Flying Elbow wore down Dibiase as the surprise duo's opportunistic tags kept them away from Andre The Giant. The referee even ejected Virgil after the body guard placed Dibiase's foot on the ropes. A surprise DIAMOND CUTTER pinned Dibiase. Page and Savage celebrated the victory and walked to the back with the belts!
However, the celebration was short lived as Gary Micheal Capetta proclaimed that the contract signed for this event was a non-title match. The fans booed mercilessly and Dibiase even produced "his attorneys" validating the decision. TWF officials did release an announcement that the next meeting between these teams is a guaranteed title match!
TWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel edged "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas with special Referee Larry Hennig. Hennig kept Heenan in check and even slugged the champion. Atlas took advantage with a PRESS SLAM and SPLASH followed by a Full Nelson. The resilient Bockwinkel reached the ropes and rebounded with his savvy to keep Atlas grounded with a SLEEPER. A groggy Atlas missed a turnbuckle charge and Bockwinkel cradled Atlas (with help from the ropes) for the quick albeit, controversial pin. Tournament Finals: Tommy Rogers beat Fred Curry to win the tournament. Excellent scientific match with Rogers finally gaining an advantage and used his opening for power slam followed by a dropkick for the win!
NOTES: Rochester fans had to realize how close they were to seeing all three TWF titles change hands. Randy Savage and Diamond Dallas Page were confident they could win a rematch for the tag-team belts. Savage was surpringly restrained but he says guys like Dibiase and Heenan always slide through life but next time he plans to "beat the snot" out of them first! . . . Tommy Rogers earned a title shot with his tournament win. Bockwinkel will have his hands full with the speedy Rogers. Bobby Fulton will help his partner train for the shot and also second him during the match. . . Malia Hosaka impressed with her title victory. The number one international contender looks like a formidable ladies champion. She returns to the States for King of The Hill after completing commitments in Japan and Hawaii over the next few weeks.

Wrestling News Bulletin Year End Awards:
TWF Wrestler of The Year: Nick Bockwinkel Runner-Up: BlackJack Mulligan
Tag-Team of The Year: Stars and Stripes (Patriot and Bagwell) Runner-Up: Megabucks (Andre and Dibiase)
Manager of The Year: Bobby Heenan Runner-Up: Jimmy Hart
Match of The Year: Saturday Night Special in New Jersey. TWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel with Bobby Heenan vs. Blackjack Mulligan, best-of-three falls. The ring introductions truly drew up the battle lines as the fans were clearly behind the big Texan while the hatred for Bockwinkel and Heenan was off the charts.
FALL 1 - Blackjack caught Bockwinkel off the top rope and landed the CLAW HOLD for the flash pin. Mulligan was officially one step away from the gold while a battered Bockwinkel barely had time to get settled at ringside. Heenan was livid as he claimed Blackjack blindsided the champ!!
FALL 2- Bockwinkel and Heenan were on their toes as the CLAW in fall one seemed to awake them both. Mulligan rallied after taking the match to the floor, but Tricky Nick slammed Blackjack into a ringpost. Bockwinkel continued the pressure inside the ring with a SLEEPER and FIGURE-FOUR to pin the bloodied Texan.
FALL 3 - Amazingly Mulligan rallied and both men went toe to toe in the deciding fall. Mulligan used several lariats which caused Heenan and even Mr. Saito to save the title. Another comeback in the match saw Bockwinkel use several gut wrenches and FIGURE-FOURS to put Mulligan in a tough position. Mulligan had seven tokens when the bell rang and also appeared to pass out when the referee broke the leglock. Bockwinkel retained the title but did not win the match as the time limit expired. The fans were in a frenzy, especially since Mulligan showed so much bravery. Bockwinkel went bezerk as he claimed to turn back the challenge but the referee did not hear Mulligan submit over the crowd noise.
Runner-Ups: Big Baltimore Bash: Stars and Stripes retain TWF Tag-Titles over TWF tag-team legends, Killer Bees in three falls. Another runner-up received a notable amount of votes from that same card in New Jersey, KENDO STICK MATCH (Singapore Cane Rules) Randy Savage d. Mr. Saito.

TWF in Oklahoma City as we lead up to King of The Mountain in Denver. The crowd was abuzz with an All Star Card and also the advance copies of the Wrestling News special year-end issue!
Big Bill White def. Bobby Fulton using two RUNNING POWER SLAMS for the upset!
Lord Zoltan def. Sam Houston. Zoltan claimed the Bunkhouse Brawl has "awakened" him and proved it with his new head gear that is "from a galaxy long ago and far away". The fans groaned as Zoltan took off his Star Wars-inspired helmet and placed it in the corner. The helmet proved forceful indeed as Zoltan caught Houston in the same corner and used it on Sam to gain the pin!
Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy def. One Man Gang and Santa Wolf. No Holiday Magic tonight as Studd and Bundy proved too much for the makeshift team of Gang and Wolf. Studd used a throat drop on the top rope to pin the Gang.
Claudio Castignoli def. Magnum TA, DQ. Claudio was seconded by his new manager Johnny Fairplay. Fairplay announced that like Lady Liberty he will carry his special "Survivor" Tiki Torch to lead the way. Since TWF and the various arenas frown upon flames at ringside, Fairplay declared his guiding light is the latest in LED technology and cannot get extinguished. A back and forth match saw Claudio attempting to use the staff of the torch on Magnum, but TA turned the tables. Unfortunately, the referee caught Magnum going beszerk and called for a DQ.
Ron Hutchinson def. Fred Curry by DQ. Hutchinson used a microphone cable to choke the younger Curry but papa Bull intervened with a choke of his own ending the match via DQ.
TWF Tag-Team Champions Megabucks (Andre and Ted Dibiase with Virgil) def. Randy Savage and DDP with the Huntress. A rematch from the non-title win by Savage and DDP, but it did not play out well for the challengers. Andre and Dibiase dominated Savage for most of the match. Andre used a Sitdown Splash to setup Dibiase for the MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER on the Macho Man to retain the straps.
Texas Tow Chain: Blackjack Mulligan d. Dutch Savage. Mulligan continues to impress as he used the Chain on Dutch early and often. Mulligan polished off Dutch with a chain-assisted Trapezius Claw for the pin.
TWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel def. New Blood Tournament winner Tommy Rogers by count-out. Bockwinkel was seconded by Bobby Heenan and Rogers by his tag-team partner Bobby Fulton. Bockwinkel flipped Rogers to the floor and at the same time the Kiwi Herders appeared: Butch and Luke. The crowd did not know what they were up to but began an argument with Fantastic Bobby Fulton. Bockwinkel took the opportunity to slam Rogers into the ring barrier and hit a piledriver on the floor for the controversial count-out. Security removed Butch and Luke from Ringside but the damage was done.
Steel Cage Match: Another grudge match hit Oklahoma City as the long-time rivalry between Roddy Piper and Rick Rude reached a cage match! Piper was bloody but kept coming at the Ravishing One. Too much blood loss though, could not keep Rude from escaping the cage after a Rude Awakening and Piper getting his face slammed into the cage.
BlackJack Mulligan won a 20-man Bunkhouse Battle Royal. The big Texan is dominant in the battle royal and especially in the type where it is "come as you are and use what you bring variety". Mulligan brought his "Texas Tow Chain" as an equalizer and easily rolled his way through the competition and eliminated Magnum TA for the win. Mulligan wants a rematch of the classic three falls match with TWF Champion Bockwinkel during the Saturday Night Special. That match was voted the TWF Match of the Year from the Wrestling News. Some notable eliminations: One Man Gang forced a collision on partners Studd and Bundy eliminating both giants! Bull Curry was vicious but too reckless in the long run as Blackjack eliminated him early. Magnum TA eliminated rivals such as Claudio Castignoli and Lord Zoltan but could not do anything with Mulligan. Notable equipment: Lord Zoltan wore a helmet like something out of Star Wars but Magnum turned the eye holes around blinding him. Claudio had a combat helmet with a fancy crest but Magnum removed it and smashed him on the neck. Magnum then threw Claudio and his gear over the ropes. One Man Gang also brought his chain while fan favorite Wolf brought a big green sack of goodies, such as a plate of cookies, wooden toys and a wreath of jingle bells. Wolf only used the plate but after getting eliminated he passed out some of his stash to the kids near ringside!
Notes: Bill Apter of the Wrestling News was accompanied by Mike Lano for photo shoots for the special year-end edition of the Wrestling News. Apter and Lano kept the evening low-key and took pictures of the award winners in a special dressing room. Apter wanted to keep the photo shoots safe and sound as years past led to some interesting situations.

King of The Mountain at Denver, CO Tag Challenge Opener-The Fantastics upended the Sheepherders. Rogers and Fulton came out gunning for revenge and used the PRESS SLAM & SPLASH followed by a ROCKET LAUNCHER after double teaming Butch.
Ladies Title- Shann Ra beat champion Malia Hosaka to regain the title. Shann Ra cruised to a fast victory over the champion using a claw to keep the jet lagged Hosaka groggy. A MACHETE captured the title for Shann Ra.
Tag Team Titles, Best of Three Falls - champions the Megabucks: Andre The Giant and Ted Dibiase (with Virgil) over Stars and Stripes (Patriot and Bagwell).
Dibiase was DQ'd in fall one for ramming a title belt to the back of Bagwell. Dibiase used a MILLION DOLLAR SLEEPER to weaken Bagwell further, with Andre finishing fall two with a Double Underhook Suplex. Bagwell finally tagged out in the final fall but also left ringside where Patriot had to fend off the Megabucks 2 on 1! Andre used a BIG SPLASH to win the match. A confused Patriot kept looking for his partner leading to the pin.
TWF title match , Slugfest match. First one to not revive from a 10 count wins. Taped fists for both champion Bockwinkel and challenger Blackjack Mulligan as last year's Wrestling News match of the year rematch had plenty at stake: Bockwinkel would only put up his title in this type of match if Mulligan would get banished from the TWF for losing.
Bockwinkel controlled most of the match but Mulligan rallied with his liberal use of fisticuffs. The BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER proved too much as the crafty challenger used the ropes to help choke out Mulligan. Bockwinkel scooped Mulligan over the ropes and the big Texan did not make the 10 count. Great match.
25-man "King of The Mountain" Battle Royal. Road Warrior Animal and Dan Spivey started the match with other wrestlers entering at intervals and elimination. There were many highlights but the tops were: Masked Superstar entered #20 and attacked Big John Studd. King Kong Bundy charged the masked man but dodged the splash which sent Bundy over the top! Superstar promptly surprised Studd by scoop-slamming the self-proclaimed Giant over the top rope eliminating the gigantic duo! Steve Williams entered late at #23 and eliminated four people including Superstar and Magnum TA. Dr. Death formed a brief partnership with Dutch Savage but when these two were the last men standing Savage turned around an eliminated Doctor Death for the victory!
NOTES: Dutch Savage is seeking a title match with his big win in Denver. Can he wrest the title from the crafty Bockwinkel? The champion beat Dutch's old rival in a nail-biter...Andre and Dibiase continue to roll and it looks like Stars and Stripes may visit Splitsville with this loss...Mother Superior joined the aftermath of Shann-Ra's title victory over Hosaka. Superior challenged the former champion to find a tag-team partner to battle her and Shann-Ra....The Fantastics and Sheepherders continued to bring their feud through TWF rings as this latest encounter did not resolve much as Butch and Luke still wanted to fight afterwards. Seems like the Kiwis are not interested in wins and losses, but more about inflicting punishment.
