I remember this topic being discussed at Galacticon and thought I liked the smaller roster but then after thinking about it quite a bit, I think I would be more in favor of Tom expanding the roster again and here are my reasons why ...
#1 The extra cards, I don't follow the book for the most part and I think the extra characters would be cool to play around with. Some guys have gotten too many updates in my mind (Tanck is a good example). I would love to see the next set be 10 new guys even though I may only use 5 at release. I like having the extra "bank" of wrestlers to play other kinds of ideas with my fed.
#2 GWF and GWFZ being the only place for cardstock superstars at the moment, any new character is GREATLY appreciated to flesh out divisions and other aspects for your federation. Both my womens division (GWF and LOW) are badly hurting (SPECIAL THANK you to the GWFZ guys for hearing that call and giving us some women to fill these gaps, I can't wait for the NEW GWFZ set coming our way in the next week, CHECK OUT THE GWFZ preview in the main GWF forum)
#3 SUDDEN DEATH, the best concept in Filsinger games history is Sudden Death. I LOVE this idea as it gets the fans involved hands on with the game in a way like no other game. The only way we will get another Sudden Death would be a larger roster.
Anyway guys, I figured I would post this topic/poll and see what others thought. If people would like to see a larger roster this would be a place for Tom to see what the fans think. Either way, THREE months to June and possibly GWF 2125!!!! I'm psyched either way!

I like it a bit bigger honestly. I know with bigger, you risk guys getting lost in the shuffle, but even at 36 wrestlers, guys like Nosfera and TitanEnergy seem to be spinning their wheels anyways.
As well, you can't really do much in terms of lower carders. Plus the forced retirements so you can add 4-6 new guys is kinda getting old as well.

It is nice to have a bigger mix of wrestlers to use. I like having more options then less.

I always shoot a little bigger myself. I usually have about 40-50 guys/gals/extras on my roster. Yeah, you run a risk of some getting lost in the shuffle, but having some of the extras, for myself, are usually part time and don't wrestle as frequently. Some are back ups for when some wrestlers go down due to injury (I don't usually wrestle a guy if he's hurt, even if it's a minor injury). And sometimes if someone isn't living up to their expectations, some of the extras can get the nod to get more time in the ring.
Lots of good reasons to keep it bigger, gives you more options and different scenarios. It seems like you would limit yourself with a smaller roster.

Hmm I kinda like having the smaller roster size. I like being able to have a good mix but sometimes it seems overwhelming to have a huge roster. In all reality I'd like a medium sized roster. Not tiny, but enough for the variety.

Very, very large for me. Given how I ran my GWF promotion, I think I've calculated an ideal roster size of 60-70. You can run totally separate tag/singles divisions, book everyone once a month, and get everyone on a weekly program. You also have enough roster depth to keep headline guys away from secondary titles. No Thantos IP champion for me thanks. I'd rather use the title to feature guys like Justice, or Mesmer!
I could see if you ran a less stringent promotion where you used the same guys every week it'd be annoying and guys would get lost in the shuffle...but I'd rather have more flexibility for booking than not.

I find a smaller fed to be better from a booking standpoint.. you can really make each make count and get the most of the rosters and feuds. I think that might be true from a creative standpoint as well. Guys definately get lost in the shuffle, or thrown into alliance and feuds that don't really mean anything when the roster is too big, Tom's writing seems better when he can focus on the guys he cares about.
That being said, more variety to choose from when I pick my small roster is not a bad thing, so I guess I can go either way.

I say keep the roster size where its at. I have a brother who's going through the 2100's in his GWF fed and he's running near 60 plus. He had to make three seperate "brands" so everyone has a fair shake. No thanks.

Right now I think my roster is manageable at 45 (4 divisions of 9 (tag team would be 18 guys right there)) and 8 divas. The hardest part is managing when people come and go because then I need to re-align weight classes and tag eligibility. When I didn't do my fed this way I thought 40 was the perfect size. This maybe another topic all together but I would say an even federation to get everyone a shake is 40. But I guess play time would be another question.
@ sunsetflip 84 ... a regret I sort of have and maybe your brother could look into this is changing around the editions. Maybe not playing by the book and splitting editions into two years may help. I like being able to have that "bank" of characters to be able to toss around in different areas. I use Avarice in my current fed only because I think he fits better in the timeframe and setting I am in.
But again I understand there is no right answer on roster size because so much depends on time avaliable in most cases and preference.

Different strokes for different folks. That's what makes this game Tom created a brilliant thing. Almost every fed is different in some way. Roster size is no exception. But yeah Wraith my bro is thinking about doing a brand split. It's almost to a point where you have to.
