As always, fascinating sir. I absolutely loved the awards part, as that appeals to the historian in me. Jeff, I was wondering, do you guys ever find this style of play restrictive to any degree? By that I mean, you play a set schedule each week, making sure each of your current recorded titles has a defense. Now, let's say one week, you got a wild hair, and wanted to explore the GWF more in depth, and wanted to run a card of non-title matches. Your current schedule doesn't allow for that...unless you choose to run these matches on your own. Now, I'm certainly not criticizing your chosen format. On the contrary, I find it simply fascinating, and have taken elements of it and used them in my corner of the galaxy. I'm just curious how you scratch the curiosity itch, when you want to explore a fed, or a wrestler, more in depth. Perhaps, because your champs turn over more due to not having a Champion's Advantage in place, you get the rotation of talent you desire, and you're able to keep everything fresh (I may have just answered my own question! ). Thanks as always, really love what you've done. Each week in a way represents each feds' champs touring their respective territory, and defending their title. Add in the head-to-head competition, and this is truly a clever way of playing.

Add in the head-to-head competition, and this is truly a clever way of playing. You did complete the circle nicely sir ;D With each of us having only about half the roster, and having total control over who wrestles when, we are able to keep things from getting stale. We are free to explore at will, or know that we are only a week or two away (in nearly every instance) from trying what we want to try. We will occasionally do things like title-for-title w/in a division, but other than that we stick to the format. Wrestlers we personally like will get consistently pushed, while a wrestler who drops a big match will get "punished" & not be seen for months. I famously got frustrated w/ AETHRAN OVERMASTER 2 months into one Awards Period & swore that if he lost the next match he was done for the rest of the year - he got a 4 month vacation. I've been an obsessive record-keeper since childhood (we did start this when we were 13 after all ) so the Awards - the GWF Awards as well as the MOTY & FOTY date back to 2089 - are a particular highlight for me. Thank you as always for reading, it's good to hear from you!

Great stuff, as always Reno.
Question for you. How do y'all determine the caliber of competition to challenge for a belt? For example, on paper, Gryt vs. Aethran Overmaster looks like it should be a fairly easy win for AOM 7 times out of 10 (yet, somehow, Gryt managed to beat Paganax, now didn't he??). Do y'all tend to pick your contenders based upon a potentially fun match-up you'd like to see, and not so much on making sure you beat the other's wrestler?
I think both methods are equally as valid, just curious how you guys determine who you're going to throw at your opponent during a week.
Keep it coming sir, love reading it!

I think both methods are equally as valid, just curious how you guys determine who you're going to throw at your opponent during a week. Keep it coming sir, love reading it! I would hope AOM would crush GRYT straight up 9.9 out of 10 times Under normal circumstances GRYT would have received a week 1 opponent that more closely matched his skills, but since he received this title via forfeit (we wrestle the matches in nearly reverse order of the way they are posted, so the GWF Championship is the final match of the day - the main event, if you will), I decided I would bring someone that I felt would get the title back immediately. It doesn't always work this way, but our unwritten rule is that the champion will (usually) take his/her rematch, and then challengers are selected w/ increasing difficulty as the champion approaches a month. If Josh or I has someone who already has month reign on the Awards period that wrestler will be brought as the challenger when the champion goes for a month to 'defend their honor' (their lead for the Award). Thanks as always for reading!

Notes from Week 5:THE IMMORTALS make a month in GWF Tag LUCKY DAY makes a month in GWFZ Tag PANIC ROOM makes a month in GWFZ Tag SCAR makes a month in GWFZ Death Masque HONEY BUNNY makes a month in GWFZ Women’s 2128 (2nd HALF) WEEK 6GWF Wrestler: Tag Team: THE IMMORTALS (1) Women: Mixed-Tag: DESDEMONA & NERO (1) Extreme: Extreme Tag: Six-Man: Galaxian: AETHRAN OVERMASTER © vs. END OF DAYSI’ve waited quite a while for AOM to go for another singles month & I understand that there has been a move towards having quicker matches overall, but having a match where my only 2 rolls are kicking out my pin (when I didn’t roll a pin on either shake) is not my idea of “playing” the game… Winner: END OF DAYSGalaxian Tag: THE IMMORTALS © vs. AETHRAN TURMOILAETHRAN TURMOIL dominates THE IMMORTALS for the 3rd time in a month; this time the finish is b.s. free. Winner: AETHRAN TURMOILI-P: OVERTIME © vs. BALAALWe worked out a deal where OT & HELSIN would get less than superstar opponents as they went for their first respective singles months. BALAAL starts w/ a 2 on LV1O, down on LV2D from OT, 5 straight finishers from BALAAL. Winner: BALAALI-P Tag: WARRIOR’S BORN © vs. BD SPELLBOUNDTHARKAS pins COVEN BLACK (5 tokens) in a rematch from last defenses, allowing WB to go for their first month as a tag team. Winner: WARRIOR’S BORNCruiser: HELSIN © vs. NITROJosh’s hand-picked opponent actually wrestles like a hand-picked opponent… Winner: HELSINHeavy Metal: PATCH © vs. PAGANAXPAGANAX (2 tokens) survives an early COMPLETE PATCHWORK, finishing strong w/ PAGAN VOID (x6) to finally put away the always tough PATCH (6 tokens). As a side note, I really hope Tom puts these two together officially, I think they would work together really well as part of an ‘anti-hero’ type group. Winner: PAGANAXHardcore: GHENA © vs. SURSUR puts 8 tokens on GHENA in a Taped Fists Match faster than I can type this, but a reversal in the deathjump, puts GHENA on LV3O. GHENA deftly avoids his ‘add-1 to both’ & puts 10 tokens on SUR to complete an amazing comeback & make his first career month reign. The loss is such blow to SUR that Black Death powers are shut down for the next 2 weeks. Winner: GHENA** BLACK DEATH CAPABILITIES ARE OFF FOR WEEK 7 & 8 **Hardcore Tag: BROS OAKEN © vs. HOUSE OF PAINMR. BLOAT gets to LV3O, but tries to throw DONK (5 tokens) out too early, allowing RORUS to make the comeback & toss MR. BLOAT out. Winner: BROS OAKENWomen’s: ALPHA FEMALE © vs. SHE-DEVILSuccess continues to elude the little DEVIL (7 tokens). Winner: ALPHA FEMALEMixed-Tag: DESDMONA & NERO © vs. MORGANA & EXCALIBUR D.Q. on BITE MARKS. Winner: DESDMONA & NERO (Retains title on d.q. loss) Six-Man: POWER FORCE © vs. TITAN ELECTRICTurn out the lights, the party’s over. Winner: POWER FORCE CPC/POW Wrestler: PENDEKAR (1) POW: CONUNDRUM © vs. MARDUUKCONUNDRUM benefits from MARDUUK rolling his own pin 4 times before hitting a LOADED QUESTION to score the W. Winner: CONUNDRUM I-P: PENDEKAR © vs. DRAKE IKONWhat is PENDEKAR’S Rahl rating anyway?! 109? Winner: PENDEKARACEWrestler: ACE: NICODEMUS © vs. ASPIN NORTHSTARNICODEMUS is too much this week winning w/ NUCLEAR WINTER. Winner: NICODEMUSGWF ZONE Wrestler: Tag Team: LUCKY DAY (1), PANIC ROOM (1) Death Masque: SCAR (1) Death Masque Tag: Women: HONEY BUNNY (1) Women’s Tag: Gangland: TITAN DEATH (1) TITLE FOR TITLE Zone: REEN © vs. O-Zone: TORTALIS THE TORTOISE MASTER © TORTALIS dominates all 3 falls w/ his excellent defense, but can’t finish REEN when it matters; Fall 1 ends w/ a SENTON, the 2nd fall ends when REEN is counted out, fall 3 sees REEN make a huge comeback in a must-win fall to earn the split decision. (Titles cannot change hands on d.q. or count-out; therefore heading into the 3rd fall TORTALIS was ahead 1-0; the only way for REEN to earn the split was to pin TORTALIS, any other decision would have awarded both titles to TORTALIS). Winner: REEN & TORTALIS THE TORTOISE MASTER both retain on a split decision 1-1-1. Zone Tag: PANIC ROOM © vs. FLYING ZOOIf you want to avoid TUSK’S D, just leave the ring… Winner: PANIC ROOM (Retains title on d.q. loss) O-Zone Tag: LUCKY DAY © vs. EXORCISMHOMAGE (5 tokens) starts w/ a 3 on LV1O, IRISH HEAT leaves the ring on the next shake, & runs finishers the rest of the match. Winner: LUCKY DAY Speed Zone: BLUE TORNADO © vs. SCORPIOSCORPIO controls the match, everywhere except LV3O, eventually allowing BLUE TORNADO to reverse outside the ring to go for his first career singles month next week. Winner: BLUE TORNADODeath Masque: SCAR © vs. TOTALIS THE TOURNAMENT MASTERTTM starts strong, but can’t put SCAR (4 tokens) away; allowing SCAR to knock him out in a Taped Fist Match. Next week SCAR will become the first wrestler (singles or tag) to attempt to make 2 months in the ultra-tough Death Masque division. Winner: SCARDeath Masque Tag: RHYTHUM & BRUISE © vs. TASTE OF INKTOI continue to be a problem in Death Masque, stopping R&B from making a month reign after PARIAH knocks out DARTH PELVIS in a Taped Fists Match. Winner: TASTE OF INKWomen’s: HONEY BUNNY © vs. ANDREABUNNY controls the rematch from the d.q. @ the last defenses, finishing w/ POWERBOMB (x2). Winner: HONEY BUNNY Women’s Tag: EQUAL RIGHTS © vs. EARTH SHAKERSANDREA dominates the match, hitting a +5 & +6, but both finishers are broken up by PERSEPHONE. The action spills out of the ring where ANDREA picks up the d.q. heading back to LV3O. Winner: EQUAL RIGHTS Six-Man: TITAN DEATH © vs. SPACE-TIME CONTINUUMThe newly formed STC (ROLEX, Π, & CASTAWAY) give TD a good run for their money, but ultimately STRYKER (5 tokens) escapes against CASTAWAY to allow TD to go for 5 months next week. Winner: TITAN DEATH GWF ORIGINALSWrestler: Champion: WOLF © vs. EXECUTIONERDespite an early GUILLOTINE, EXECUTIONER (5 tokens) is no match for WOLF (2 tokens) over the long haul.
