I never knew Blackjack Mulligan so will have to youtube him. Unfortunately the bulk of online footage spotlights Blackjack when he was already past his physical prime. His initial WWWF singles runs saw him headline on top against both Bruno and Pedro, but that footage hasn't been commercially released. The same is true of much of his peak 70s territory work. Luckily some 70s era house show footage from the Mid Atlantic territory has found its way onto the web, and it does capture a bit of prime Mulligan. Here are a few videos of possible interest: Blackjack Mulligan vs Baron Von Raschke 10/1/78A battle of the claw masters. A face Mulligan (11 years experience, age 35) sells his way into a drawn out but dramatic finish. Blackjack Mulligan vs Ric Flair 10/23/78 'Texas Death Match'Another face Blackjack match from the same period. Flair could make just about anyone look good, but BJM does his part with working the crowd and making them care. Blackjack Mulligan vs Andre The Giant 6/5/82BJM had slowed down by this point, but could still play a credible big man heel. Absolutely.
Mulligan works well as a monster heel or a face. He has plenty of enemies already signed to LOW like Kevin Sullivan, Angelo Mosca, The Crusher, Andre the Giant and Bruiser Brody, as well as some great tag possibilities like Masked Superstar or Terry Gordy.

I am VERY excited about this signing. And while I understand/respect others wants for Barry, Kendall, Rotunda or even Lanza (my personal fave "dream signing" of the batch), I am happier (more happy??) about Mulligan than any of the "possibilities" he brings up. Mulligan is/was one of the more underappreciated big men (or really just as a worker in general). His work on the mic was always solid, and his in ring was great. He was just as believable as a face as he was a heel, and would make you love or hate him on HIS terms.
His work with Bill Eadie back in old Mid-Atlantic was freaking amazing and I am most looking forward to seeing if I can even come close to recapturing the magic of their series of their 60 and 90 minute cage matches from that era!! Will also see how he fares against Andre for a while... Then might have to see about a Machine reunion just for fun, lol.

I would hope so but both might still have WWE Legends Contracts.

MULLIGAN'S body of work is worthy to headline any set.....
Be it MONSTER HEEL TAG TEAM in the 70's with LANZA (who you should grab at Mark's Site)
...to a face and father in midatlantic et al (he had a great feud with Sullivan late in his career)
to a viable threat to Andre.....and a Machine....
what is not to like...
(Don't get me wrong.......BARRY is one of my favorites and his welcome to join his dad in LOW, hell i'd be happy with his son in law. ....I'd take Kendall too.........but he always seemed too thin.....seriously thin, Mike Von Erich Thin)

just found this online tonight, could make for an interesting feud
On May 25, 1980, Masked Superstar II was unmasked after a match with Blackjack Mulligan in Toronto.
