I will never forgive, or try to make sense out of Vince missing out on the opportunity to showcase Hogan vs. Flair at Wrestlemania. I have heard all the stories about how some people say they didn't work well together at house shows -- and others say this was Hogan performing like crap on purpose with Flair -- but as the boss, Vince needed to make that match happen and he didn't.
The only other missed opportunity that comes even close to the Hogan vs. Flair botch, is never giving us Cena vs. Taker. It's the ONLY true "dream match" left in the WWE imo, despite what HHH would say I'm sure.
But which one is the bigger missed opportunity? I could make an argument for either one. THIS.....................is a tough one, fans!

I'm going to say Hogan/Flair because THEORETICALLY Cena vs. UT is still possible. It would have to be for WM30, but I think it'd still be a viable main event at that point.
On the other hand, Cena's done so many jobs at this point that I don't see anyone really believing that he would end the Streak, which sort of defeats the "dream match" part.

i'd have to say Hogan-Flair. Even now i have no idea how that match would have played out...although unlikely Flair would have won.

As much as I loved Savage/Flair, it really should have been Hogan/Flair even if you kept the belt on Flair.

As big as the names were at the time, no Hogan/Flair match is by far VKM's biggest botch. No matter what anybody says or circulating rumors, I truly believe this is a case of the two biggest stars in the industry not wanting to job to the other. So maybe Vince saved us from some sort of botched ending i.e. double count out/dq or run-in by another wrestler Vince knew that it had to be a clean finish either way and not being able give us that, avoided the match entirely. Hmmm … just my opinion. Therefore, thank you VKM.

I remember being so pumped for Hogan vs. Flair at WM (even though I knew Chump Hogan would go over). Thn one Satrday morning they announce he "bigger and better DOUBLE MAIN EVENT" with Hogan vs. Sid and Fair vs. Savage. WTF!?!?!??!? With little to no explanation either. Man was I pissed! So maybe Vince saved us from some sort of botched ending i.e. double count out/dq or run-in by another wrestler Then how do you explain the clusterfudge of a finish we got from Hogan vs. Sid? I was pissed tat they ended a WM main event on a DQ, especially with it "supposedly" being Hogan's last match (yeah, right). They could've had ogan go over clean and still have Sid & Papa Shango/Sultan/Godfather/Kama/Huey/Duey/Luey/Alvin/Simon/Theodore do the post-match beat down which led to Warrior coming out for the save. On Cena-Taker, I don't that as a dream match. Cena's character just comes off as someone that has too much repect for The Streak to try and break it. It's not believable either because breaking it would do nothing for Cena as he's aleady done it all. I would watch it knowing that Taker would win. HBK might have won because of being "Mr. WM" and then the "Streak vs. Career" think. Triple H might have won because of real-life stroke within the company. I don't think Lesnar will do it but I see how a casual fan might buy into it. The only person left I could buy into breaking it would be Rock, because they let him beat Cena clean for crying out loud. I think if Rock demanded it and if they paid Taker enough money, they'd probably let that happen. No one else comes to mind.

Hogan versus Flair was the definition of wrestling dream match from 1984 until 1991. I believe McMahon wasn't sold on the idea of Flair, a guy his company didn't "create", headlining Wrestlemania. I have always thought they made a mistake having them do a series of untelevised house shows instead of building to the ultimate Wrestlemania dream match, but I won't complain: I got to see them wrestle live at the Assembly Hall in Champaign in November '91 instead. It was more than a fair trade-off (Hogan won by countout, btw).
One reason they may have decided not to put Flair and Hogan one-on-one on PPV could was apparent that night: the crowd was pretty much split down the middle in support of Hogan and Flair. The Hogan aura was definitely starting to wear off, and they probably didn't want it exposed on the biggest day of the year. That was also about the same time Undertaker started catching on even though he was a heel, and it was pretty obvious that Hulkamania had just about run its course.

Only because I was never a Flair fan, I'm going to say Cena/Taker. I love both of these guys. I saw them live on Smackdown during Cena's early heel run, but Cena is so much bigger now. Even if it was just to pad Taker's streak, these two should have had a Mania match by now.

I have to agree Hogan vs. Flair. Back then there was so much build up to the top WWE guy and top NWA guy for over 8 years. I remember reading in all the wrestling mags the top dream matches and that was always the top one. Plus, I think we would have gotten more on an epic match than what we got when Hogan went to WCW.
As a kid the other dream match I wanted to see was Sting vs. Ultimate Warrior. We did finally get the Road Warriors vs. Demolition
Just my opinion and subject to change.
