Inoki over Andre was a shocker especially by submission. It was also surprising to see Sullivan over Blassie. I love the unpredictability of this tournament. I'm really looking forward to the "American Dragon" vs. "Mr. Torture" as we head toward the round of 16. Great stuff, Bookerbill.

Thank you for the comments jmelton – round after next if they make it that far @cruefan – the dice have certainly been unpredictable this tournament for sure @nick_nuke – Rogers is a strong card and he could take the whole thing with the Giant and Thesz out of the way Bryan Danielson (4) v. Mr. Saito (29) Danielson responds to the fans support by gaining the upper hand early on including a pair of dives onto Saito at ringside that thrill the fans. Back in the ring, Saito survives a GUILLOTINE CHOKE (R8/P2). Saito regains control at ringside running Danielson’s head into the ring side rails busting him open. Saito punishes his opponent with chops. The match goes back to the floor and Danielson goes for a roundhouse kick but Saito pulls the referee in the way and the official goes down. The brawl continues as the referee signals for the bell. The American Dragon is out via disqualification. Terry Gordy (13) v. Jim Londos (45) The ladies at ringside show their appreciation for Londos and he responds by taking time for several snapshots and hugs. Gordy unleashes a power attack from the outset the sends Londos to the floor several times. A running lariat gets Gordy a 2 count (R4/P1). It is all Gordy with punches, stomps and slams. Gordy makes the mistake of sending Londos into the ropes and Londos rebounds with a nice looking cross body block for a ½ count (R9/P2). Londos works the arm and then moves to a sleeper grip that forces Gordy to the floor. Outside, Londos slams Gordy onto the floor. Back in the ring Londos traps Gordy in a BOSTON CRAB but the Freebird powers out (R9/P3). Gordy comes back and punishes Londos with a series of tackles in the corner and forearm blows. A back suplex gets Gordy a 1 count (R8/P2). A running lariat spills Londos to the floor and when he regains the ring Gordy plants him with a PILEDRIVER. 1, 2, shoulder up (R9/P5). Gordy follows with a POWERBOMB and Londos gets the shoulder up again (R8/P6). The fans are on fire. Running lariat. Gordy hooks the leg. 1, 2, kick out! (R9/P5). Gordy changes tactics and applies an ORIENTIAL SPIKE but Londos is able to make it to the ropes (R10/P6). Gordy drags Londos back to the middle of the ring and applies the hold again. This time, Londos blacks out and is eliminated from the tournament. (R7/P7) Up next... Rick Rude (44) w/Bobby Heenan v. Bobby Eaton (53) w/Jim Cornette & Rob Van Dam (5) w/Bill Alfonso v. Magnum Terry Allen (37)

Thanks for following along Lord H and Nick. Rick Rude (44) w/Bobby Heenan v. Bobby Eaton (53) w/Jim Cornette
Rude really cranks up the heat with his pre-match mic work. A whack from Cornette’s tennis racket turns the early action in Beautiful Bobby’s favour and the fans do not seem to mind one bit. Eaton works the arm with a Divorce Court and then downs Rude for 1 with a stinging right hand (R11/P2). Eaton takes flight with a top rope elbow and then later hits an ALABAMA JAM for a near fall (R4/P9). The action moves in and out of ring with the momentum going back and forth. Eaton shows he can brawl with the best and gains the upper hand. Rude catches Eaton climbing the corner and tosses him to the mat. A top ropes sledgehammer puts Eaton on the mat for 2 (R7/P3) before a piledriver does the same (R7/P4). RUDE AWAKENING. Cornette distracts the referee. Rude is clearly frustrated and take the action to the floor. Eaton eats the ringside rails and is busted open. Rude then traps Eaton in the ropes and works over Eaton’s cut until Bobby is beautiful no more. The referee steps in but Rude shoves him to the mat. The bell sounds and Rude has been disqualified. Rob Van Dam (5) w/Bill Alfonso v. Magnum Terry Allen (37)
The fans are split during the introductions with most of the children backing Magnum. Both men attempt a clothesline early and crash together in the middle of the ring. RVD is up first and Rolling Thunder gives him the first near fall (R8/P2). Allen struggles to find a counter to Van Dam’s offense. A body scissors cradle gets 2 (R7/P3) and the answer comes at ringside when Allen drags Van Dam to the floor and whips him into the ring post. Van Dam is busted open and Allen takes over on offense but cannot get his opponent in a pinning position. The momentum evens out. There is a solid spot where Van Dam dives out of the ring onto Allen and both men spill into the ringside seats. Allen later scores with an atomic drop for a 2 count (R4/P1). Van Dam catches Allen on the top of the corner with kick and Allen crashes to the mat. Both men are showing some fatigue and start to make mistakes. Neither man can sustain any real offense and the brawling on the floor picks up. Allen runs Van Dam into the ring post a second time and this time the referee does not let it go. Van Dam is into the round of 16 via disqualification. Up next ... The Crusher (31) v. Larry Zbyszko (63) & Antonio Rocca (18) v. Greg Valentine (50) w/Captain Lou Albano

The Crusher (31) v. Larry Zbyszko (63)
Zbyszko is all over Gary Michael Cappetta during the introductions and Crusher storms the ring to save the announcer and goes to work immediately. A bear hug nearly ends it before the match is even seconds old (R7/P3). Crusher follows with a Crusher Nelson for another submission attempt (R10/P4). The bear hug is the Crushers weapon of choice as he continues to punish his opponent. Zbyszko counters a press slam and uses a series of knee smashes and chokes to gain control. Crusher escapes a Larryland Sleeper (R10/P2). Crusher rolls clear of a deathjump smash and Zbyszko crashes to the mat. Crusher hooks the leg. 1, 2, 3 (R5/P5). The fans celebrate at ringside. Antonio Rocca (18) v. Greg Valentine (50) w/Captain Lou Albano
The fans are on their feet for Rocca as he comes to the ring. It is back and forth early on. Valentine is able to stun Rocca with a falling elbow hammer for a 1 count (R8/P1) and then tosses him to the floor. Outside Valentine chop blocks Rocca’s leg out from under him early great heat. Rocca hobbles back into the ring and the Hammer smells blood in the water and attacks the leg with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Rocca cannot reach the ropes and has no choice but to submit (R3/P4). The second round upsets continue.
Up next... Frank Gotch (10) v. Diamond Dallas Page (42) & Nick Bockwinkel (7) w/Bobby Heenan v. Masked Superstar II (26)
