Thanks to Neily for the comments!
October 16, 2017 Card #522: West Memphis (AR) Jr. High School
1) Mexican superstar Nacho Barrera made his USWA debut with a win over Bub Smith of Jackson, TN. Barrera came across as very cocky to the West Memphis fans. He struggled a bit with Smith and it took a while for him to get the pinfall, although part of that was not capitalizing on a pin attempt. After 20 minutes of action, Barrera scored the pinfall with a knee smash to the face. **¾
2) S.D. and S.T. Jones got a quick win via disqualification over The Tolos Brothers. John and Chris Tolos charged the ring and went right after “Special Delivery” and “Soul Train” right at the start. John took S.T. to the floor, while Chris pummeled “Philadelphia’s Favorite Son” inside the ring. Chris hit S.D. with a big forearm smash, knocking him out of the ring. Chris followed and was handed a steel chair from his brother John. Chris used the chair on S.D. Scott Bowden saw this and was left with no choice but to call for the bell and disqualify the Toloses 90 seconds into the bout and before S.T. and John could legally wrestle. The Toloses continued their onslaught on the Joneses after the bell until the Flying Redheads came down to ringside to chase the Canadian brothers off! DUD
3) Tyler Black scored a pinfall on “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon in 16 minutes. Black hit the Phoenix Splash about five minutes into the bout but gloated and wouldn’t go for the pin. Black executed God’s Last Gift but Cannon managed to kick out. The PBR drinker rallied back and hit the Glimmering Warlock but Black kicked out. With bodyguard Luke Harper at ringside cheering him on, Black took over and executed a Paroxysm. Just for good measure, Black hit a second Paroxysm to score the pinfall. ***¼
4) “Classy” Freddie Blassie earned a hard-fought win over Billy Gunn in about eight minutes. Gunn had the advantage at the start and was hoping to get a big win on the two-time former Southern champion. Gunn executed a jackhammer for a two-count. He later hit the Famouser but Blassie kicked out at 2¾. Blassie fought back and hit a series of knee drops to score a near fall. “The Vampire” was extra vicious tonight, biting Gunn three separate times and eventually drawing blood. Blassie battered and beat Gunn down to the mat and applied a stomach claw. Gunn fought hard for an escape but eventually submitted. Blassie looked impressive tonight as he has his sights set on “Exotic” Adrian Street next week in Lexington and hopefully a third Southern Heavyweight title! ***
5) Pepper Gomez scored an impressive pinfall on King Kong Bundy in four minutes. “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach” was not intimidated by Bundy’s weight advantage. He came out fighting at the bell against the New Jersey giant. A big wind-up punch to Bundy’s large stomach put the big man down. Gomez took advantage and went for the Mexican cradle to score the pinfall! The fans went wild and Jimmy Hart was shocked by Gomez’ relatively easy win! ½*
6) In a big six-man tag team match, “Superstar” Bill Dundee and The Flying Redheads were victorious over Mad Dog Vachon, Doctor X, and Baron Von Raschke. This was a wild tag team bout with a lot of grudges in place. Red Bastien worked over the masked man X in the first few minutes and then tagged to Billy Red Lyons. Lyons was excited to get his hands on his former World Tag Team championship partner X. He tried to use his own figure-four leglock to get the win and it looked as if X would tap to the move he specializes in as well. But before he could, Vachon jumped in for a save. This brought in Dundee against his rival and of course Bastien and the Baron were soon battling it out as well! Joe Wheeler restored order with just the two legal men in the ring. A few minutes later, the Aussie “Superstar” and the German “Clawmaster” were the legal men. Von Raschke scored near falls on Dundee after a suplex and an atomic drop. X came in and hit a dropkick for a near fall of his own. Dundee finally made the tag to Lyons. X avoided another attack from his partner and tagged back to Von Raschke. Lyons worked over the German and he and Bastien hit an impressive double dropkick. X ended up back in the ring and couldn’t avoid his former partner, as Lyons worked over him and caught him in the center of the ring with the sleeperhold. Vachon and Von Raschke both attempted a save but were cut off by Dundee and Bastien, respectively, who took the action to the floor. With X trapped in the center, the masked man started to drop. Wheeler checked his arm three times and it dropped all three. Wheeler called for the bell and awarded the bout to the Redheads and the “Superstar” via submission after 25 minutes of wild action. The West Memphis fans popped big time for the fan favorites’ win! ***¾
7) The new Mid-America Heavyweight champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce picked up a win over his rival Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana in a non-title grudge match. Cabana came out strong at the start of the match against his rival, trying to get a pinfall win on the new champion. He hit a flying hip attack about two minutes in for a two-count. Pearce fought back and targeted the neck, with a swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. He tossed Cabana out of the ring and distracted Paul Morton, while Mr. Hughes grabbed Cabana and clotheslined him, causing “Boom Boom’s” head to bounce off the floor. Morton turned around to count Cabana out but the host of The Art of Wrestling returned to the ring by the count of eight. Pearce continued the attack and hit the jumping piledriver to score the pin after 10 minutes. Pearce remains undefeated and with gold in his grasp, Jim Cornette remains a happy man! ***
8) Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito scored another win over Tommy and Eddie Gilbert. Eddie got hit by Koloff’s Russian Sickle just a few minutes into the bout but managed to get a foot on the bottom rope to break up the pin. “The Russian Bear” drew blood on “Hot Stuff” with a leg drop right across the nose but couldn’t score the pin. Both Gilberts fought hard against the House of Humperdink team but couldn’t keep the powerhouses down. Tommy had some control against the Japanese Olympian but Saito’s wrestling prowess came through as he dodged an attack and hit the Saito suplex out of nowhere. He covered Tommy and scored the pin, while Koloff blocked a pin save from Eddie. Sir Oliver Humperdink was happy with his team’s win after 12 minutes and you can bet that they would like another shot at the World Tag Team titles! ***
9) Harley Race scored a pinfall out of nowhere on Steve “Dr. Death” Williams after 10 minutes of action. Williams surprised Race in the first minute of the bout by ducking a clothesline attempt and rebounding off the ropes with a crossbody block for a very near fall. It was so close that many West Memphis fans thought that Joe Wheeler had counted three but to Race and Jimmy Hart’s approval, it was 2¾. Williams got surprised with a reverse rolling cradle for a near fall. Race hit the vertical suplex but again “Doc” kicked out. Williams rallied back and had Race in trouble but missed on a standing dropkick and landed hard on his leg. Race took advantage by working over the leg and applying an Indian Deathlock in the center of the ring. Williams was trapped for over 90 seconds but with the fans behind him managed to pull himself to the ropes for a break. Race busted him open with a head butt. Williams rallied back, despite the injured leg and blood loss. He went to pick up Race, perhaps for the Oklahoma Stampede, but the leg pain was too much and he couldn’t get Race up in the air. Race took advantage and immediately caught Williams in a small package to score the impressive pinfall. Race is now 18-0 since his return in March! ***½
10) The main event was a rematch for the USWA World Tag Team titles. The Heavenly Bodies, accompanied by Jim Cornette and Mr. Hughes, put the titles on the line against The Uptown Boys. Going into this match, Tommy Rogers and Marty Jannetty had two non-title decisive wins over Tom Prichard and Chris Candido. In their last title match in August in Findlay, OH, the Boys came very close to taking home the gold but the Bodies pulled it off in the end, thanks in large part to Hughes’s interference.
The challengers were on fire at the opening bell, trapping “The Doctor of Desire” in the ring for the first several minutes. Prichard finally tagged to “The Suicide Blonde.” Rogers had offense against him and sent him into the buckle. Candido bounced backward and knocked heads with Rogers. Both wrestlers hit the mat but Rogers took the worst of it. Candido went for a cover but Rogers kicked out. The Bodies hit the Flapjack on Rogers a few moments later. Jannetty tagged in a few moments later but the Bodies used a Flapjack on him as well. Prichard went for a pin attempt but Jannetty kicked out. Prichard came off the second rope with a knee drop to Jannetty but Rogers made a save. Candido tagged back in a few minutes later. He knocked Jannetty out of the ring. Hughes held Jannetty in place, while Cornette distracted Paul Morton. Hughes’s assistance allowed Candido to nail a baseball slide. Hughes for good measure then sent Jannetty into the ring post. Rogers came around the ring and helped Jannetty return to the ring by a count of eight. Jannetty made the hot tag to Rogers and the former Mid-America champ ran wild. Candido sent him into the buckles but Rogers reversed the whip and sent Candido so hard, he went flying over the buckles and to the floor. Candido was hurting but with Prichard and Hughes’s help made it back to the ring by the count of nine. Rogers tagged back to Jannetty and the Uptown Boys executed the Uptown Flip. Jannetty made a cover but Prichard broke up the pin attempt. As Rogers returned to the corner, Cornette hit his leg with the tennis racquet. Rogers went after him but Hughes was ready for him and hit the spike slam on the West Memphis Jr. High School floor. Morton was distracted by Prichard inside the ring and missed this. Jannetty stayed in control until Candido made a blind tag to Prichard. Dr. Tom ambushed Jannetty from behind with an elbow. He hit two elbow drops. Jannetty got up to his feet dazed and was nailed by an enzuigiri. He covered Jannetty and scored the pinfall after 32 minutes of action. Rogers, still hurting from Hughes’s spike slam, was able to get to his feet and roll into the ring but not in time for a save. The West Memphis fans booed Cornette, the Bodies, and Hughes mercilessly! (With the win, the Bodies are now tied at fourth place for most defenses of the World Tag Team titles with eight. Interestingly enough, they are tied with the team the beat for the belts—the Midnight Express of “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Sweet” Stan Lane, from their first reign in 2005.) ****½

What a main event in West Memphis! It actually made up for the 20:00 Nacho Barrera opener but at least that came with a Nacho victory! Uptown boys vs. Heavenly Bodies had a little bit of everything. Just so much fun to read. The Bodies are heading towards record breaking territory. How far are they away from first place in successful title defenses? Harley Race at 18-0 is pretty darn impressive. Cool to see Fred Blassie with a big win as he sets his sights on Exotic Adrian Street next time. Pepper Gomez over King Kong Bundy was a nice surprise and I really loved that 6-man tag. Great action all around as always in the USWA!

Thought the Uptown Boys might finally grab it. Nice win by Dundee and the Redheads and nice that we have Dr. X finally in color.

Thanks to Crue Fan and Troy for the comments! Just to be clear: I am behind posting where I am actually playing. Any results with Doctor X through the end of game year 2017 will be his original B&W card from the online Promoter. I have, in real-time, switched to his color card.
Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling on 10-21: • Commissioner Bob Armstrong announced some huge bouts for the coming weeks. First of all, he announced more matches for the November 6 card at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville. o Harley Race continues his dominant performances. He will face a new opponent in the masked Patriot! The masked American has been impressive since debuting at Independence Day Bash 2016, including challenging for the World Heavyweight title. This will be a tough challenge for Race! o John and Chris Tolos have also been impressive since debuting last month. They will face their toughest opponents to date when they take on The Flying Redheads! It will be the brawling style of the Canadian brothers against the high-flying, fast-paced offense of Red Bastien and Billy Red Lyons! o Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana issued a challenge to Jim Cornette’s stable for this card! The host of The Art of Wrestling said that he has recruited three wrestlers to help him who dislike Cornette as much as he does! Into the WMC-TV Studios walked Brad and Brian Armstrong and Billy Gunn! “The Road Dogg” said that the history between the Armstrongs and Cornette’s men goes back a long way and that is a battle of survival. Therefore, they want the World Tag Team champions The Heavenly Bodies, Southern Heavyweight champion “Exotic” Adrian Street, and Mid-America Heavyweight champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce in a match where survival is important—an eight-man tag team Elimination Match! Cornette, flanked by his men and Mr. Hughes, responded later in the show that he knew Cabana was crazy and that he and these “idiots” the Armstrongs and Gunn don’t have the cohesion that his men do. So they would be happy to eliminate these four in Knoxville, not only from the match but from pro wrestling all together!
• The commissioner also announced some matches for the USWA’s return to the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Coliseum in Evansville on November 13! o “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce will make his first defense of the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight championship on November 13 at the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Coliseum in Evansville. Pearce will defend the title against former Mid-America and Southern champion “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach” Pepper Gomez! Gomez returned to the USWA last month as a surprise to then-champion Ray Stevens’ open challenge at the Louisville Gardens. He nearly came out the champion but Stevens retained the title on a disqualification when Harley Race attacked Gomez. Can Gomez win the title this time against a new champion? o Speaking of Jim Cornette’s stable, Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana will continue his war against Cornette’s men on behalf of “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. On this card, he will face Southern Heavyweight champion “Exotic” Adrian Street in a non-title bout! While Cabana’s won-loss record against Cornette’s men hasn’t been the strongest, his fight and heart have been impressive and he definitely has Cornette’s men nervous!
• The USWA will debut in a new town on November 20, when they come to Gore Springs, MS and the Gore Springs Gymnasium! Commissioner Armstrong will announce the matchups for the Gore Springs fans in the coming weeks on Championship Wrestling!
The USWA comes back to the Rupp Arena in Lexington on October 23! • Baron Von Raschke will face his toughest singles opponent to date when he faces “Superstar” Bill Dundee! Raschke nearly scored a pin on Dundee in the six-man tag team match last week in West Memphis with the Baron, Mad Dog Vachon, and Doctor X against Dundee and the Flying Redheads. Can “The Clawmaster” win one-on-one or will the Aussie prevail? • A battle of two big men will resume when Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy faces King Kong Bundy of the First Family of Wrestling! When these two met last month in Memphis, Bundy was disqualified for using Jimmy Hart’s megaphone. Who will win the latest bout between these behemoths? • In a first-time tag team meeting, The Uptown Boys will face Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito of the House of Humperdink! Both teams started this year in the USWA and both have had great success, including challenging for the World Tag Team titles. The Uptown Boys are just coming off challenging for the belts again last week in West Memphis. Will the fast-paced offense of Tommy Rogers and Marty Jannetty or the power and brutality of the House of Humperdink succeed? • Pepper Gomez continues his quest against the First Family of Wrestling. This week, the Mexican superstar will face the undefeated Harley Race! Race cost Gomez the Mid-America title against Ray Stevens last month in Louisville. Gomez defeated King Kong Bundy very easily last week in West Memphis. Race continues his dominant streak and hopes not only to keep up the win but also to wear down Gomez for “The Crippler.” This could be one of the most anticipated matchups on this card! • Before he receives his first-ever shot at the USWA World Heavyweight title on November 6, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert will take on Tyler Black! Black is infuriated that Gilbert used a fireball on his bodyguard Luke Harper when Gilbert and Harper wrestled last month in Louisville. Gilbert cannot underestimate the high-impact offense of the Iowan Black. Can Gilbert get a big win before his title shot or will Black pull off an upset? • The World Tag Team champions The Heavenly Bodies will do battle with long-time foes Brad and Brian Armstrong in a non-title bout. The Armstrongs would love to defeat the champions and earn another title shot but you can bet Jim Cornette’s men will be prepared. Who will leave Lexington the winners? • In the first half of a double main event, a special attraction from the WWF will take place, as WWF World Heavyweight champion “The Living Legend” Bruno Sammartino will defend the title against “Superstar” Billy Graham! Graham is bringing with him to Lexington his new manager The Grand Wizard, whom he claims will be the “difference maker” in him winning the belt. An interview aired from Sammartino, conducted by Vince K. McMahon, where Sammartino said he was thankful to wrestle in Lexington and looked forward to meeting the fans. He said he won’t be a gentleman against that “slime” Graham and that he wants to return to the Northeast still the champion. WWF referee Dick Woehrle will be officiating this bout. Will the “Italian Superman” retain or will the flamboyant Graham finally get the gold? • The other main event will be for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. Current and two-time champion “Exotic” Adrian Street will defend the title against two-time former champion “Classy” Freddie Blassie! Street has been champion for much of 2017, defeating a variety of challengers of all sizes and styles. Blassie’s two reigns covered most of 2016 in a similar fashion to Street, before the “Exotic One” dethroned “The King of Men” back in January in Chattanooga. Can Street defeat “The Hollywood Fashion Plate” once again or will Blassie become a three-time champion?
All these bouts, plus a rematch from last week between The Tolos Brothers and S.D. and S.T. Jones! Plus, Nacho Barrera in action!

Thanks to Troy and Victory Roll for the comments!October 23, 2017 Card #523: Rupp Arena in Lexington1) Newcomer Nacho Barrera scored a surprising win in the opener over “Sodbuster” Kenny Jay. Jay dominated much of the match, using the Sodbuster Spike three separate times. He sent Barrera into the buckles but Barrera dodged the charge and Jay hit the corner hard. Barrera followed up with a knee smash to the face and covered Jay to score the pinfall in about eight minutes. It was an impressive comeback for the Mexican superstar! **½ 2) The Tolos Brothers defeated S.D. and S.T. Jones in a brutal match. John and Chris Tolos avenged their disqualification loss to the Joneses last week in West Memphis by coming out strong. Unlike last week’s match, all four men tagged into the bout legally. The Toloses trapped “Soul Train” in the ring for several minutes. S.T. had some offense on John, trapping him in the corner with boxing punches but John ducked and smashed his head into the buckle, busting him open. The blood started to flow big time and Sam Platania checked to see if S.T. wanted to continue. To little surprise, S.T. kept fighting. John hit a standing knee drop and it looked like he would get the pin. “Special Delivery” entered the ring for save but S.T. got his shoulder up at 2¾! The fans went wild! Chris tagged back in and went for a standing knee drop of his own but “Soul Train” rolled out of the way. S.T. made the hot tag and was so bloodied and beaten, he collapsed on the apron. “Philadelphia’s Favorite Son” ran wild on Chris but Chris managed tag his brother. The Canadians double teamed S.D. and John hit a backbreaker after 16 minutes to score the pinfall. It was an impressive win for the Toloses! S.T. recovered after the bell and apologized for not being able to save S.D. S.D. helped him to the back and the Lexington fans gave the Joneses a big ovation for their effort! **½ ( NOTE: S.T. Jones had seven fatigue tokens on him at the end of the match!) 3) “Superstar” Bill Dundee gave Baron Von Raschke his first loss in the USWA in a 10-minute bout. The German grappler had a lot of offense against the Aussie “Superstar” but Dundee had the fans on his side. Dundee knocked Von Raschke out of the ring with some big punches and almost got a countout win but Von Raschke got back in by nine. Dundee hit the Superstar Bomb but Von Raschke kicked out at 2½. Dundee tried for a submission with a Boston Crab and “The Clawmaster” made the ropes for a break. Dundee followed up a few minutes later with a second Superstar Bomb and scored the pinfall. **¾ 4) Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy picked up a hard-earned win over King Kong Bundy. Gordy came out fighting in the first half of the match and dominated much of the action. He hit an impressive flying body press off the top rope to knock down Bundy and scored a two-count. Gordy busted Bundy open and hit an amazing Bamm Bamm slam and went for a cover but Jimmy Hart distracted Tom Branch. Gordy went after “The Mouth of The South,” which allowed Bundy to recover and attack Gordy from behind. Bundy executed the Atlantic City Avalanche and made a cover but Gordy got a foot on the bottom rope. The New Jersey giant stayed in control and hit a backbreaker for a near fall. With “Bamm Bamm” down on the mat, Bundy went for an elbow drop but missed. Gordy got to his feet and stomped away at the bloody Bundy’s head. He pulled Bundy up to his feet and executed the power bomb to score the pinfall after 24 minutes of action! ***¾ 5) Ivan Koloff and Mr. Saito picked up an impressive win over The Uptown Boys. The House of Humperdink team were aggressive against Tommy Rogers at the opening bell. Rogers finally capitalized on a mistake and tagged to Marty Jannetty. Jannetty ran wild on “The Russian Bear” and even hit the Rocker Dropper but Koloff managed to kick out at two. Rogers tagged back in but Koloff cut him off and tagged to Saito. The Japanese Olympian wore down Rogers. He tagged back to Koloff and whipped Rogers into the ropes. Koloff caught Rogers on the rebound with Russian Sickle. Jannetty attempted a save but was stopped by Saito and Koloff and Saito picked up the win in 12 minutes. Sir Oliver Humperdink was definitely pleased with his men’s win! **¼ 6) Harley Race continued his amazing winning streak with a pinfall on Pepper Gomez. Gomez wanted to avenge Race costing him the Mid-America Heavyweight title against former champion Ray “The Crippler” Stevens last month in Louisville and had a strong start against Race but the former Southern champion surprised him with a sunset flip for a near fall and took control. Race hit the piledriver and scored the pinfall in four minutes. Jimmy Hart’s charge Race is bringing in more victories and more money! * 7) “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert got a hard-earned victory over Tyler Black in a competitive match. Black had his bodyguard Luke Harper at ringside, as usual. Harper was still sporting some burn scars from Gilbert’s fireball from their match last month at the Louisville Gardens. Black came out strong against Eddie, not only for revenge for Harper but also wanting to get a huge win in singles competition against the three-time former Southern Heavyweight champion. He hit a buckle bomb on Gilbert just a few minutes into the bout and went for a cover but Gilbert kicked out. Black later blasted Gilbert with a superkick and tried for a pin but again Gilbert kicked out. The action was back-and-forth with both men vying for the win. Gilbert gained control and took the bout to the floor. He hit a DDT on the Rupp Arena floor! Black was hurting, as Gilbert returned to the ring. Harper came over to help his employee back into the ring by the count of nine. Gilbert grabbed a dazed Black and immediately hit the Hot Shot. He covered Black and scored the pinfall after 12 minutes! Gilbert’s aggression showed that he is ready for his first-ever shot at the World Heavyweight title in two weeks Knoxville against his blood rival “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan! ***½ 8) Brad and Brian Armstrong picked up a huge non-title win over the World Tag Team champions with a pinfall victory over The Heavenly Bodies in 16 minutes! The Armstrongs kept Dr. Tom Prichard in the ring for several minutes, including Brad scoring a near fall after a double team back body drop. Chris Candido finally tagged in. Brad went for a clothesline but “The Suicide Blonde” sidestepped him, took him down to the mat with an armbar takedown and then tried for a submission with a waki gatame. Brad managed to get to the ropes for a break. Candido worked over Brad and then tagged back to “The Doctor of Desire.” The champs executed the Prima Donna Plunge and Prichard went for a cover but “The Road Dogg” made the save. Candido tagged back in and was choking Brad over the ropes near the Armstrongs’ corner. Brian got fed up, ran over, and snapped Candido’s neck on the top rope! Brad tagged his brother, who took over on Candido. He hit the pump handle slam but Candido got a foot on the bottom rope for a break. Prichard tagged back in but got cut off by the Armstrongs. The brothers double teamed him and got him down on the mat. Brian hit a Shake, Rattle, and Roll knee drop on Dr. Tom and scored the pinfall, while Brad stopped Candido with a dropkick! The Lexington fans exploded at seeing the champs beat but Jim Cornette was not happy by this result! *** 9) In a special attraction, WWF history was made in a USWA ring, as “Superstar” Billy Graham captured the WWF World Heavyweight championship from “The Living Legend” Bruno Sammartino under controversial circumstances! WWF referee Dick Woehrle was assigned to officiate this bout. Graham and his new manager The Grand Wizard of Wrestling were not welcome into the Rupp Arena, as Graham’s theme song “Superstar” played, as USWA fans remember the Wizard as Abdullah Farouk, the former manager of BTW U.S. Heavyweight champion the Sheik! The Lexington fans were very welcoming to the champion, knowing very well from Pro Wrestling Illustrated his history and achievements. The two rivals slugged it out from the opening bell. Sammartino gained control with a big uppercut, which floored Graham. Sammartino went for the cover but Graham kicked out. A few moments later, Graham reversed a whip into the ropes and caught Sammartino in his Superstar bear hug. Sammartino managed to break out of the hold with some big punches. Graham maintained control and tried for a submission with a full nelson. With the fans rooting him on, Sammartino made the ropes to break the hold. The “Superstar” caught him in the bear hug again. He held Sammartino in the bear hug for more than a minute but “The Living Legend” managed to break free again. The bout went to the floor. The Grand Wizard got up on the ring apron and distracted Woehrle. Graham drove Sammartino’s back into the ring post. With Woehrle distracted, Graham grabbed a steel chair from ringside and smashed Sammartino twice in the back with it! He tossed the champion back into the ring and locked on the bear hug again. Sammartino was hurting from the chair shot but wouldn’t surrender. He started to weaken and dropped to the mat. Graham held the bear hug on, as Sammartino’s shoulders hitting the mat. Graham held him down and then for good measure put his own feet up on the ropes for leverage. Woehrle checked the champ’s shoulders and counted them down for the three after 13 minutes of action. Woehrle called for the bell and awarded Graham the WWF World title! The Lexington fans were outraged at this decision and they let Graham and the Wizard know it! **¾ 10) The main event was for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship. The current and two-time champion “Exotic” Adrian Street put the title on the line against two-time former champion “Classy” Freddie Blassie. These two men knew each other well going into this bout, as Street ended Blassie’s 10-month reign back in January in Chattanooga. Street, as always, had manager Jim Cornette and Cornette’s bodyguard Mr. Hughes at ringside. While they did not accompany him to the ring, this was the first time that the Tolos Brothers had been in the shadows as “The King of Men’s” allies. To little surprise, the action was wild at the bell. Street gained the upper hand and tried for a pin about 45 seconds in with the crucifix but the challenger kicked out. Blassie took over quickly and hit multiple knee drops. He tried for a pin the “Exotic One” kicked out. Street again gained control but the bout went to the floor. Both men were brawling over the announcers’ table. Blassie got a choke on Street and then grabbed the microphone from Gary Michael Cappetta. He smashed Street in the head with it and then started to choke Street with the chord. Tom Branch saw the microphone shot and called for the bell, disqualifying Blassie just two-and-a-half minutes into the main event! Hughes quickly got involved, throwing punches at Blassie to get him off the Southern champion! The Toloses came out of the back but were intercepted by the World Tag Team champions the Heavenly Bodies! Before things could get more out of hand, several USWA referees and officials came out to separate Blassie and the Toloses from Cornette’s men. The groups were finally separated, as Blassie and the Tolos Brothers returned to the locker room first. Street remained the champion after this melee! neg*
