Go Uptown Boys, nice win by Danielson and the referees clearly need to quit paying attention to ringside antics allowing heels to cheat.

Thanks to Victory Roll and Troy for the comments!
Highlights of USWA Championship Wrestling from December 9, including the announcement of the New Year’s Knockout XIV main event! • After the controversial ending to last week’s main event in Memphis, it was announced that “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan will defend the USWA World Heavyweight championship in a rematch against “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. Lance Russell read a message from the USWA Committee that a special stipulation will be put in place for this match and that will be announced on next week’s Championship Wrestling! • Another big match was announced, that will feature “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and The Flying Redheads face “Classy” Freddie Blassie and The Tolos Brothers! This will not be a standard six-man tag team match but rather a Battlezone Match—a series of one-on-one matches until one team is eliminated. Valiant was interviewed in-studio and said that these six men have had some wars this past year (Daddy!) and that a Battlezone Match is a great setting for their war! • Also announced was the first-ever Dog Collar Match, as Mad Dog Vachon will take on “Superstar” Bill Dundee in a bout where both men will be chained together at the neck with Vachon’s dog collar! Vachon, flanked by Doctor X and Baron Von Raschke, was interviewed and stated that the Aussie has twice felt Vachon’s dog collar chain during matches the last few weeks and this time, he will feel tremendous pain from it! Vachon said that he plans to put Dundee in the “dog house” and end this year-long battle! • A big return bout will also take place in “Music City,” when Tommy Gilbert battles Harley Race! Gilbert came very close to giving Race his first loss since his return in March but Jimmy Hart’s antics turned the tide and gave Race a DQ win. There is a lot a stake in this match going into 2018. (See more information below!) • Ray “The Crippler” Stevens, accompanied by Jimmy Hart, came into the WMC-TV Studios holding a giant, metal ladder! Lance Russell asked what the meaning of this was. Stevens reminded Lance and the wrestling world about his history with Pepper Gomez, going back to 2010, when Stevens came off a ladder in San Francisco in Big Time Wrestling and dropped the Bombs Away across Gomez’ throat! He said that Gomez followed him to the USWA and they have battled back-and-forth, on-and-off since 2011. He said that his pinfall over Gomez last week in Memphis earns him another shot at “his” Mid-America Heavyweight championship and he wants that title shot at New Year’s Knockout XIV in a Ladder Match! “The Mouth of The South” explained for fans not familiar with this type of match that a Ladder Match means the belt will be hung above the rung and the only way to win the match is to climb the ladder and grab it! There was no response from Gomez at this time. • The winner of the main event won’t have long to rest, as it was announced that he will defend the USWA World Heavyweight title against Harley Race on January 15, 2018 at the Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga! Jimmy Hart was interviewed and revealed that Race is touring All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) this month and will return to the States around Christmas for his New Year’s Eve bout with Tommy Gilbert and to train for his World title match. Lance Russell asked if Race was upset about not getting the title shot he wanted at New Year’s Knockout. Hart said that he knows Jerry Jarrett and the USWA Committee are “delaying the inevitable” in Race becoming champion but this will make it easier, as after Eddie Gilbert and Kevin Sullivan destroy each other, there won’t be anything left and Race will kick off 2018 in his “rightful place” as USWA champion and still undefeated! • The main event was announced for the penultimate USWA card of 2017. All three Gilberts—Tommy, Eddie, and Doug will team up for the first time in USWA history. They will battle three members of the House of Humperdink—World Heavyweight champion Kevin Sullivan, Ivan Koloff, and Mr. Saito. This should be an explosive match! • Marty Jannetty was interviewed and gave an update on his partner Tommy Rogers, after the attack by the Toloses last week in Memphis. He said that Rogers will be out of action for a while with a severe arm injury. He said that he has revenge on his mind and he’s contacted a former partner of his from Central States Wrestling about coming to the USWA to help him. He said he hopes to have an announcement next week about this wrestler!
The USWA comes back to Cookeville, TN and the Community Center on December 11! • Billy Gunn will do battle with Mad Dog Vachon! Vachon has his sights set on the Dog Collar Match with “Superstar” Bill Dundee but he cannot overlook Gunn, who will be receiving a Southern title shot in 2018, due to pinning “Exotic” Adrian Street in the eight-man tag team Elimination Match last month in Knoxville. Who will leave Cookeville the victor? • “Classy” Freddie Blassie will go one-on-one with Billy Red Lyons! This will be a precursor to the Battlezone Match on New Year’s Eve. While Lyons specializes in tag team matches, he is definitely a capable singles competitor and two-time former Southern champion Blassie cannot underestimate him. Can Lyons pull off the big win and give his team momentum? • The new World Heavyweight champion will be in action, as “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan faces Tommy Gilbert in a non-title grudge match. Gilbert will be out for revenge for Sullivan’s use of the spike against son Eddie last week in Memphis. Tommy has pinned Sullivan before and would love to get another decisive win over the new champion. In an interview on Championship Wrestling this week, Tommy said that he has asked Doug not to come to ringside with him this week. He said that Doug is too emotional and he will get his chance at revenge and Sullivan and the House of Humperdink next week in Louisville, so he doesn’t want to jeopardize anything before that six-man tag team bout. Can Tommy score the win on the Boston brawler? • “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson continues his war against Jim Cornette’s men, when goes one-on-one with former Mid-America Heavyweight champion “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce for the first time ever! Danielson has now defeated both World Tag Team champions in singles matches and hopes to continue the streak against the former Mid-America champ. Pearce has had a rough few weeks, with losing the Mid-America title and suffering his first losses in the USWA, most recently to his rival Colt Cabana last week in Memphis. Can “Scrap Iron” get back on the winning side or will Danielson triumph again? • Speaking of the USWA World Tag Team champions, The Heavenly Bodies will defend the titles in the main event against John and Chris Tolos! The Toloses have been very impressive since debuting in August as Freddie Blassie’s allies. They have yet to suffer a decisive loss since being regulars in the USWA. While their goal often seems to be trying to hurt their opponents, you know that the Canadian brothers want to get the championship gold and the winners’ share of the purse. Tom Prichard and Chris Candido have had an impressive 2017, winning the titles at Derby City Stampede in May and defeating a variety of teams. Jim Cornette stated on last week’s Championship Wrestling that the Bodies defeated one brother team in their title defense last month against the Armstrongs and will be successful against another brother duo this month! Can the Bodies end 2017 as champions or will the new champions’ names be spelled T-O-L-O-S?
All these bouts, plus Brad and Brian Armstrong return to action, as well as Doug Gilbert! And Mr. Hughes, Hugh Morrus, and more USWA stars in action!

Another good show! 10 game years of action and counting on this board alone and I know this fed existed long before it started appearing on this board. Cory, with all the game years of History your fed has accumulated, have you thought of creating a USWA Hall of Fame?
I know this is the LOW fed forum, but at msome point for my Indy feds (Indy feds sometimes create Hall of Fames with very little history such as CZW starting their Hall of Fame in 2004 five years after the fed started in 1999) I plan on doing Hall of Fames but I don’t plan on necessarily retiring wrestlers who get inducted (sort of like how western such as Homicide and LuFisto got inducted into the Independent Wrestling Hall of Fame in January but are still active.)
But I am not 100% sure if I will do a LOW Hall of Fame as I don’t want to retire anyone (although some wrestlers such as Edge are both active and Hall of Farmers.).
Cory, what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks to Zeke and Neilybob for the comments! Another good show! 10 game years of action and counting on this board alone and I know this fed existed long before it started appearing on this board. Cory, with all the game years of History your fed has accumulated, have you thought of creating a USWA Hall of Fame? I know this is the LOW fed forum, but at msome point for my Indy feds (Indy feds sometimes create Hall of Fames with very little history such as CZW starting their Hall of Fame in 2004 five years after the fed started in 1999) I plan on doing Hall of Fames but I don’t plan on necessarily retiring wrestlers who get inducted (sort of like how western such as Homicide and LuFisto got inducted into the Independent Wrestling Hall of Fame in January but are still active.) But I am not 100% sure if I will do a LOW Hall of Fame as I don’t want to retire anyone (although some wrestlers such as Edge are both active and Hall of Farmers.). Cory, what are your thoughts on this? Great topic, Zeke! I had thought about doing this for the GWF back when I played COTG regularly but never got it going. I have honestly not considered this for the USWA. Since this is in a sense a Kronos-style fed, in the sense that, for the most part, the wrestlers never really age and are coming from various time periods, I guess I don't see them as ever retiring and being eligible for a HOF. But as you said, when guys like Edge go into the HOF and eventually come back on a semi-regular basis, it does make sense that this could happen in a Legends fed. As I've done this year, with Harley Race returning after 11 game years and doing very well, wrestlers could have success many years apart from separate runs. I will keep this in mind and see what happens.

Thanks to Victory Roll for the comments!
December 11, 2017 Card #528: Community Center in Cookeville, TN
1) Nacho Barrera picked up an impressive win in the opener over Cousin Luke in about two minutes. The Mexican grappler was aggressive against the hillbilly and scored the pinfall after a knee smash to the head, which has brought him four of his five victories so far! DUD
2) Hugh Morrus made very short work of “Sodbuster” Kenny Jay. The newest member of the House of Humperdink stormed Jay at the bell and blasted him with a head butt. He got Jay down on the mat, went up top, and hit No Laughing Matter to score the pinfall in about 30 seconds. It was a very impressive win! DUD (NOTE: This was the dreaded two-move match!)
3) Mr. Hughes scored a pinfall on “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon. The PBR drinker Cannon had some offense against Jim Cornette’s bodyguard but couldn’t hurt the big man for long. Hughes brutalized Cannon and finished him off with a very impressive dropkick, scoring the pinfall after about four minutes of action. Cornette was very pleased with Hughes’s win but how will he fare against “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson next week in Cornette’s hometown of Louisville? ¼*
4) Doug Gilbert made his return to the ring without a mask and scored a pinfall on George South. The Cookeville fans gave Gilbert a great ovation as he entered the ring. While South had some offense, Gilbert had counters and controlled most of the pace. He came off the top with the former Scud Missile but then signaled he didn’t want to win the match that way. He picked up South and hit a piledriver to score the pinfall after about 2½ minutes of wrestling! The fans gave Doug a big ovation for his win and he was joined in celebration by his father Tommy! (Eddie Gilbert was not present on this card, as he was recovering from being carved up by new World champion Kevin Sullivan’s golden spike last week in Memphis.) DUD
5) Two more fan favorites returned to action, as Brad and Brian Armstrong defeated “Dastardly” Danny Doring and The Amish RoadKill. The Armstrongs were accompanied by their father, now-former Commissioner “Bullet” Bob Armstrong, who got a big pop from the Cookeville fans! The Armstrongs were very focused in this bout. They hit a double team back drop on RoadKill and went for a cover but Doring made a save. “The Road Dogg” clotheslined “The Angry Amish Warrior” over the top rope, sending him to the floor. RoadKill was almost counted out but with Doring’s help returned to the ring by the count of eight. RoadKill briefly took control but got overzealous on a clothesline and Brian hit a drop toehold, sending RoadKill into the middle ropes. Brian immediately hit a rope straddle and went for a cover but the chicken plucker kicked out. Brad tagged in and RoadKill briefly took over, sending Brad into the corner. RoadKill went for a running splash but Brad moved out of the way and RoadKill went sailing head-first into the ring post and getting busted open. Brad pulled him off and locked him in a sleeper. With the blood loss, RoadKill started to drop. Doring came in for a save but so did Brian. Scott Bowden saw “The Road Dogg” first and ordered him back to his corner, which allowed Doring to come off the second turnbuckle with an ax-handle to the back. He pulled his dazed partner on top of Brad. Bowden turned around to count but Brad kicked out! RoadKill finally made a tag but Doring didn’t last long on offense. Brad tagged Brian, who hit the pump handle slam and scored the pinfall after 16 minutes, while Brad kept RoadKill at bay. The fans went wild as the three Armstrongs celebrated the sons’ win! **¾
6) Billy Gunn scored a very impressive win over Mad Dog Vachon in six minutes. Gunn kept control of the Algerian brawler for much of the match. He hit a knee lift for a near fall before scoring the pinfall with the Famouser. Gunn is looking forward to a shot at the Southern Heavyweight title in 2018! *½
7) “Classy” Freddie Blassie narrowly got by Billy Red Lyons but ended up the victor in end, thanks to the Tolos Brothers. This was a great back-and-forth bout and it looked as if Lyons might score the win on the two-time former Southern Heavyweight champion. He knocked Blassie out of the ring with a big dropkick, which brought the fans to their feet! Blassie climbed back into the ring by the count of seven. Lyons blasted “The King of Men” with several dropkicks and made a cover for a two-count. He then tried for the figure-four leglock. Blassie was in trouble but made the ropes for a break. Seeing their ally in trouble, John and Chris Tolos came down to ringside. Blassie rallied back and bit Lyons on the forehead to gain control. Lyons took over a few moments later. He sent Blassie into the ropes but Blassie reversed the whip. As Lyons hit the ropes, John tripped him from outside. Jerry Calhoun was facing Blassie and missed the interference but the Cookeville fans did not miss it! Blassie hit a series of knee drops to Lyons and then covered him to score the pinfall in about 12 minutes. Blassie and the Toloses cackled as they returned to their locker room. (Lyons’ allies, such as Red Bastien, “The Boogie Woogie Man” “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant, and “Superstar” Bill Dundee were not present tonight, since they were not booked to wrestle.) ***¼
8) The new World Heavyweight champion “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan picked up a win over his rival Tommy Gilbert in a non-title grudge match in 14 minutes. The World champion was extra aggressive at the start, hitting the Tree of Woe in the first few minutes of the match for a near fall. The Boston brawler stayed in control and locked in a Boston Crab for over a minute. Gilbert fought his way to the ropes for a break. Sullivan released the Crab but then tried again back in the middle of the ring. Gilbert blocked him with punches, then got to his feet, and hit the running knee lift. He covered Sullivan but only got a two-count. Gilbert continued to attack Sullivan, who went to his corner and pulled out the golden spike. While Sir Oliver Humperdink Scott Bowden, Sullivan jabbed Gilbert in the face with the spike, busting him open. Gilbert, blinded by his own blood, stumbled to his feet but Sullivan nailed him with a running forearm and scored a two-count. Gilbert fought through the blood loss and pain and surprised Sullivan with a back suplex to score a near fall of his own. The World champ rolled out of the ring for a breather but his opponent followed. As Sullivan left the ring, he grabbed the spike again. Gilbert went to attack him but Sullivan pulled him down and drove the spike into his wound again, unseen by Bowden from inside the ring. Sullivan released the spike and returned to the ring. Gilbert was down and hurting but managed to get into the ring by the count of nine. Sullivan continued the onslaught and hit the double foot stomp a few moments later to score the pinfall. As Sullivan and Humperdink returned to the locker room, Doug Gilbert made his way to ringside to check on his father, following Tommy’s wishes from USWA Championship Wrestling not to come out during the bout. Doug helped his father to the back and you can bet, he will be focused on revenge when all three Gilberts face Sullivan, Ivan Koloff, and Mr. Saito in next week’s main event at the Louisville Gardens! ***½
9) “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson continued in his battles with Jim Cornette’s men, with victory #3, this time over “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce. This was a fast-paced bout with explosive offense. Pearce looked as if he would score the big win over the only wrestler to have held all four USWA singles championships. He hit a hangman’s neckbreaker in the first few minutes for a near fall, then turned the attack to Danielson’s leg. He locked on a figure-four leglock in the center of the ring for 90 seconds. With the Cookeville fans cheering him on, Danielson managed to pull himself to the ropes for a break. Danielson fought back and knocked Pearce out of the ring and then blasted him with a suicide dive, sending Pearce into the guard railing and busting open the back of his head. Danielson looked right at Mr. Hughes and Cornette, as he brought Pearce back to the ring. He locked on the LeBell Lock but Pearce managed to pull himself to the ropes for a break. He immediately went for the guillotine choke. Pearce fought hard for about 20 seconds but ultimately had to tap out after eight minutes of intense action. As Danielson got his hand raised by Joe Wheeler, he again glared at his next challenge Hughes! These two will battle it out next week at the Louisville Gardens! ***½
10) The main event was for the USWA World Tag Team titles. The current champions The Heavenly Bodies put the titles on the line against John and Chris Tolos. Tom Prichard and Chris Candido had been champions since Derby City Stampede and had defended the titles against a variety of teams, employing cheap tactics when needed. The Toloses debuted full-time in September and have been very vicious. While they had lost matches via disqualification, they had to suffer a decisive loss in a standard four-man tag team match and have never been afraid to bend the rules themselves.
The challengers showed their vicious nature in this one, double teaming “The Doctor of Desire” for the first few minutes. John busted Prichard open early after using his corkscrew. Prichard finally tagged “The Suicide Blonde” and the Bodies hit a Flapjack on Chris. Chris ducked a clothesline from Prichard and went right to his corner to tag back to John. The Bodies worked over John, including hitting a double team suplex. John broke out of an armbar from Candido with a thumb to the throat and the challengers now pummeled Candido as they had done to Prichard. They tagged in and out and even busted him open as well, after Chris slammed Candido’s face hard into the mat. Sensing his men were in trouble, Jim Cornette jumped up on the ring apron and struck Chris from behind with the tennis racquet. Paul Morton was distracted by Prichard who had entered the ring. Chris was dazed but went after Cornette, grabbing him by the jacket. Cornette dropped the racquet in the ring, as Mr. Hughes grabbed Cornette’s leg from the outside and pulled him away from Chris. Chris picked up the racket first and clocked Candido with it. Unfortunately for the Toloses, Morton turned around to see Chris’s usage and called for the bell after 14 minutes, disqualifying the challengers. The Cookeville fans, perhaps wanting to see history made, were not happy about this outcome! Cornette, Hughes, and the Bodies grabbed the belts and returned to the locker room celebrating the win, even though neither Candido nor Prichard looked like winners with their bloodied faces! (With the win, the Bodies are now tied with the Road Warriors’ second title reign from May 2006 to January 2007 for the second greatest number of defenses of the World Tag Team titles, with eight!) ***¼

Nacho, Nacho Man! A win over Cousin Luke is a shocker for Nacho, no doubt. Great show overall in Cookeville. I loved the tag title main event, the return of Doug Gilbert, Freddie Blassie's win and the debut of Hugh Morrus.

Thanks to Troy and Crue Fan for the comments!
Highlights of USWA Championship Wrestling from December 16 with more announcements for New Year’s Knockout XIV! • USWA Committee Chairman Jerry Jarrett announced that the main event between “The Gamesmaster” Kevin Sullivan and “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert for the USWA World Heavyweight title will have an added stipulation to it. He said that since Sullivan needed his golden spike to win the title, he will be allowed to use it on New Year’s Eve; but he must find it first! He said that the first-ever Singapore Spike Match will take place for the title! Jarrett explained to Lance Russell and the wrestling world that this match will see poles attached to each of the four ring posts. At the top of each pole will be attached a box. Prior to the start of the match, Sullivan will be forced to hand over his golden spike to USWA officials. The spike will be placed in one of the boxes. Whichever wrestler can grab the spike will be allowed to use it on his opponent! Jarrett said that Sullivan will have no choice but to give over the spike, as if he refuses, he will forfeit the match and the World Heavyweight title! • Lance asked Jarrett how the Committee came up with the idea of the match. He said that they couldn’t take credit and it was actually the idea of the new USWA commissioner! Lance was surprised by this news. Jarrett said that the new commissioner will be announced before the New Year’s Knockout main event and will take full responsibilities that night! • In other matches in Nashville, Doug Gilbert will be in action, taking on Kevin Sullivan’s newest find and the newest member of the House of Humperdink—Hugh Morrus! You can bet “The Gamesmaster” will have the maniacal Morrus trained to try and take out the youngest Gilbert! • Two long-time rivals who reignited their feud in the USWA this year will battle again, as Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana faces “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce. Cabana finally got his first win on Pearce in a USWA ring two weeks ago in Memphis. Pearce has had some setbacks since losing the Mid-America title to Pepper Gomez in Evansville last month and hopes to get back on track with a win over his hated rival! • Another rematch will see two powerhouses collide when The Patriot faces King Kong Bundy! The Patriot almost scored a pinfall win on the New Jersey giant last month in Gore Springs, MS but Bundy used Jimmy Hart’s megaphone, leading to a DQ victory for the masked American. Both men would love to end 2017 with a decisive win over the other! • A follow-up interview was conducted with Marty Jannetty about his tag team partner to replace the injured Tommy Rogers. He introduced Ric McCord into the WMC-TV Studios! Jannetty said that with Rogers’ blessing, he and McCord will be the new Uptown Boys! Lance asked how soon fans could see these new Uptown Boys and McCord answered that they will be in action on New Year’s Eve! Jannetty said that the duo hopes to get revenge on the Toloses for their attack on Rogers, as well as win the World Tag Team championship!
It's the last stop before New Year’s Knockout XIV in “Music City,” when the USWA comes back to the Louisville Gardens on December 18! • In a first-time bout, The Patriot will do battle with Ray “The Crippler” Stevens. You can bet Jimmy Hart will have “The Crippler” try and cripple the masked man prior to his bout with King Kong Bundy on December 31. Stevens also wants to gain momentum with a big win prior to challenging Pepper Gomez for the USWA Mid-America title in the big Ladder Match on the same supercard. Which combatant will emerge victorious? • “Superstar” Bill Dundee will do battle with his rival Doctor X! Dundee is looking forward to a brutal Dog Collar Match with X’s ally Mad Dog Vachon at New Year’s Knockout but he would love to defeat the masked man prior to that bout. Can he succeed? • The Southern Heavyweight champion “Exotic” Adrian Street will be in non-title action when he faces “The Road Dogg” Brian Armstrong! Brian’s older brother will be getting a singles title shot later on this card and Brian would love to earn a singles title match of his own. Street is focused on defending against “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson but cannot look past the former Mid-America champion Armstrong, who is a very capable singles competitor. Can Armstrong pull the upset or will the British glam rocker triumph? • Speaking of Bryan Danielson, he will have his last challenge before his Southern title rematch with Street, when he faces Jim Cornette’s bodyguard Mr. Hughes! Hughes has proven to be dominant in his three matches so far but Danielson will not be so easy. Danielson is giving up a lot of weight and power but he has proven in the past he can defeat opponents of size? Can Danielson go 4-0 against Cornette’s crew? • “The Man with The Cast Iron Stomach” Pepper Gomez will defend the USWA Mid-America Heavyweight championship against Brad Armstrong! Armstrong earned his shot by last eliminating then-champion Adam Pearce in an eight-man tag team Elimination Match in Knoxville last month. This should be a great, clean-cut match between these two fan favorites. Who will leave Louisville the champion? • The main event will be a huge six-man tag team bout, pitting all three Gilberts: Tommy, Eddie, and Doug against the House of Humperdink’s team of the World Heavyweight champion “The Gamemaster” Kevin Sullivan, Ivan Koloff, and Mr. Saito! The feud between these units and the history have been well-documented. Going into New Year’s Eve, the Gilberts would love to get the win to get momentum, especially for Eddie’s rematch against Sullivan in the Singapore Spike Match. Which trio will get the win?
All these matches, plus a rematch between Baron Von Raschke and S.D. Jones, as well as the Toloses and Hugh Morrus in action!
