Uploaded to the Ring of Honor YouTube Channel: Nigel McGuinness responds to Kevin Steen"Kevin, I saw your request to appear at Best In The World and I have to say that I have a hard time believing you have the best interests of ROH at heart. I also want to say that you were never fired from Ring of Honor. You were suspended and there was no communication by either side afterwards. Both Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs, who were suspended at the same time you were, have returned to action. Granted, they have both been a thorn in my side and I regret ever giving them another chance. So why should I think you have anything better in mind? Bottom line is, Kevin, I don’t trust you. So, unfortunately, I have to decline your request. I wish you luck in whatever you choose to pursue outside of this company."

bookerbill - Thanks to you and everyone else for reading. I am looking forward to Strong/Styles as well.
RING OF HONOR TELEVISION2014 Season Episode 17 Steve Corino def. BJ Whitmer by pin This melee was as wild as expected. Corino began with an Old School Kick during the Code of Honor. The referee definitely let the two men fight, as there was a lot of action on the outside of the ring that justified possible disqualification. Corino held the advantage with liberal use of a foreign object that he kept out of the ref’s sight. Despite this, Whitmer made a big comeback and had Corino in trouble. A Wrist Clutch Exploder by BJ looked like it would end the match but Corino’s ally, Bobby Fish, came to ringside. Whitmer met Fish as he climbed up onto the apron. The ref tried to keep them apart but Corino pulled on the his pant leg. Fish used the distraction as an opening to blast BJ with his Sleeps With The Fishes kick. Corino rolled up Whitmer for the three-count to steal the victory. Bobby joined him in the ring and the duo were set to continue the beating but Nigel McGuinness left his announce position and attacked Corino. In mere moments, the ring was chaos as the four men traded blows and ROH officials and ring crew desperately tried to regain order. The fracas carried into the commercial break. Jay Lethal def. Tomasso Ciampa by pin Lethal comes out like a house on fire going for an early submission with a figure four leglock as well as a few pin attempts. Tomasso can’t keep up and Lethal hits a cross body from the top rope that gets a solid three count. After the match, Jimmy Jacobs comes out to check on Ciampa and gets in Lethal’s face. ACH rushes to his partner’s side and the four men have an intense stare-down before officials get them to move along. Kevin Kelly, now by himself on commentary, stated that this has turned into a wild night and with the Briscoes up next, it didn’t look like it was going to change. INSIDE ROH: In two weeks at Best In the World, AJ Styles returns to ROH with one thing on his mind. AJ Styles promo: “When I came back to Ring of Honor, my goal was to accomplish the one thing in this company I was never able to do in the past, and that is win the ROH World Championship. Roderick Strong, you’ve held that title for a long time now, and some people consider you the best in the world. I’m pretty good too, Roddy. And in Nashville, we’ll see who really is the 'Best In the World'.” ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPJay & Mark Briscoe def. Matt Taven & Rhett Titus w/Truth Martini by count out Neither Briscoe was one hundred percent as they both were nursing injuries suffered at the hands of The Fringe. Jay’s ribs were taped and Mark still had a patch on his eye from earlt in the year. From the start, it was obvious that the Briscoes were not in top form. Taven handled both of them with little trouble and Titus put Mark through a string of moves that he miraculously survived (8 tokens!). It came down to Taven and Jay brawling at ringside. As the ref’s count climbed, Jay ran the length of the ring hitting Matt with a Yakuza Kick that sent him over the railing. Taven’s foot got awkwardly trapped between the bars and he could not get free. Truth tried to free him and begged the fans at ringside to help but the count hit twenty and the match was over. It did not escape Truth’s notice that Rhett and Scarlett were flirting on the opposite side of the ring while this was going on. The Briscoes escaped this one by the skin of their teeth. Next: ROH World Champion Roderick Strong will be in action!

RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2014 Season Episode 18 Adam Cole def. Cedric Alexander by DQ Cole outshined Alexander but failed to pin him with the Florida Key. Showing some anger, he tossed Ced through the ropes and began pounding on him at ringside. Cedric retaliated by slamming Cole face-first into the timekeeper’s table. The ref called it tight and disqualified Alexander. Cedric was disappointed with himself and, as Adam recovered, he had a grin on his face. ROH matchmaker Nigel McGuinness got into the ring and apologized to everyone for losing his cool and getting involved last week in the match between Steve Corino and BJ Whitmer. He went on to say that the situation between he and Corino has reached the point where something needed to be done: “With that being said, Corino, I accept your challenge and I agree to face you in the ring at Best In The World.”Jimmy Jacobs def. ACH by pin Jacobs was very aggressive in this match. ACH managed a few counters but Jimmy stayed on top by fighting dirty. Jacobs used his Railroad Spike to get the win. ACH’s partner, Jay Lethal, came out to check on him as he held his face in pain. Lethal pointed at Jacobs who just laughed as he exited. INSIDE ROH: More matches have been confirmed for Best In The World! Matt Taven and Rhett Titus get a rematch against the Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championships as well as Michael Elgin defending the ROH World Television title against BJ Whitmer! Plus the return of the Young Bucks and more! The ROH World Champion, Roderick Strong, came out to the ring and had some things to say. He went on a bit about being Mr. ROH and not only being the greatest Ring of Honor champion ever but also being the best in the world. He went on to say that AJ Styles didn’t have a chance in Nashville and that ROH management was running out of challengers for him. He then had one final thing to bring up. He was tired of hearing Bobby Fish whining about getting a title shot and said if Fish wanted to come out he would prove that he didn’t deserve it. Fish came to the ring and made sure to point out that he beat AJ Styles and that ROH was prejudice against him because he was a friend of Steve Corino. Then he said if Roddy was afraid to put the belt on the line, Fish would beat him in a non-title bout and then there would be no doubt that he was a top contender. Roderick Strong def. Bobby Fish by submission Strong ran over Fish, who was barely a speed bump. A Sick Kick was followed by the Strong Hold. Fish tapped out after a brief struggle. Roddy shook his head, looking down at his fallen opponent. Raising the ROH belt in the air he looked into the hard cam and yelled: “Get ready, AJ! Same thing’s happening to you!”Next: Best In The World from Nashville!

I really like your build-up for the whole Strong, Styles & Fish story and it's good that Roderick defeated Bobby. It'll be fun to see how Strong versus Styles rolls out for you...

I really like your build-up for the whole Strong, Styles & Fish story and it's good that Roderick defeated Bobby. It'll be fun to see how Strong versus Styles rolls out for you... I just hope the Strong Styles match isn't a stinker. I was prepared to make it a three-way dance if Fish had won but I'm glad it didn't turn out that way. Win or lose, Roderick will be at the center of the next big storyline for the second half of the season.

Uploaded to the Ring of Honor YouTube Channel: Steve Corino is a Happy Man“Things are going just as I planned, Bobby! Nigel is actually going to step into the ring against me one on one. How stupid can he be?” “I know, Steve. I think he’s had one too many concussions.” “Easy pickins. Now if you’ll excuse me a second, I have a phone call to make. Best In The World, baby...!”

BEST IN THE WORLD 2014 June 28, 2014 Nashville, TN Adam Cole def. Bobby Fish by count out Cole came out very aggressive and went for one pin attempt after another. To Fish’s credit, he would not let his shoulders be pinned to the mat even after two Florida Keys. Cole hit a big suicide dive that left both men wiped out on the floor. As the ref’s count climbed, Fish pulled himself up onto the ring apron. The ref shouted “19!” and it looked like Fish would get the count out win. At that moment, Cole pulled Fish down by the back of his trunks and used the leverage to launch himself under the bottom rope and to victory. Fish complained to the ref and Cole shrugged as his hand was being raised. Kevin Steen’s music played and the crowd was on its feet. Steen asked for a mic and solemnly talked to the audience. He said he understood Nigel McGuinness’s decision not to put him on the show and accepted that this would be the last time he would be in front of an ROH crowd. Before he could finish saying his farewell, The Fringe appeared and got in the ring. Tomasso Ciampa paced back and forth while Jimmy Jacobs greeted Kevin. Jimmy said ‘screw Nigel’ and tried to convince Steen to join The Fringe. Kevin did not look impressed and turned to leave. Jacobs grabbed Steen by the arm and spun him back around saying that no one turns their back on him. Steen sighed and sucker punched Ciampa, then grabbed Jacobs and hurled him over the top rope. Ciampa recovered and came after Kevin but got a kick to the gut and a Package Piledriver. The crowd went crazy and Jacobs and Ciampa tucked tail and left. A “Thank you, Kevin!” chant started and Steen waved goodbye on his way out. The Young Bucks w/Truth Martini def. Kyle O'Reilly & TaDarius Thomas by pin The Bucks begin the match working over TD. The whole time they mocked their former stable-mate, O’Reilly, calling him ‘dork’ and ‘Opie’. Nick Jackson got cocky and spent too much time posturing on the top rope, allowing Thomas to roll out of the way when he jumped. Kyle was tagged in and went after Nick. The two fought outside the ring with Nick coming out on top. Some Bucks double teaming led to Early Onset Alzheimer’s and Nick pinning O’Reilly. Mike Bennett def. Homicide by DQ Bennett finally accepted a one on one match with Homicide who had been hounding him for months. Mike insisted that the ref check and double check Homicide for his ghetto fork. At first Homicide avoided the search and tried to intimidate the ref but then gave in to the pat down, adopting an arrest pose in the corner. The ref did not find any weapons and Homicide asked if Bennett was satisfied, then insisted on shaking hands for the Code of Honor. Bennett hesitated and Homicide held his other hand behind his back saying it was ‘all good’. Bennett quickly shook his hand then got down on the floor to consult with Maria. Homicide then came flying through the ropes with a Tope con Hilo, flattening Bennett and causing Maria to shriek and scamper away. Homicide threw Bennett back into the ring and opened up a royal can of whup-ass on him. Bennett began begging off, doing his best Ric Flair imitation. The ref kept pushing Homicide back to let Bennett get to his feet but Mike held the official almost like a human shield. As this was going on, Adam Cole came to ringside and passed something to Homicide. When Bennett finally got back to his feet, The Notorious 187 tossed him to the floor and pushed him up against the barricade and held up his fork for all to see and dug it into Bennett’s nostrils. The ref immediately called for the bell and officials had to pull Homicide off of Bennett as he threatened to jab them as well. Homicide and Cole high-fived then left the ring area as Maria checked on Bennett. Nigel McGuinness vs. Steve Corino Corino came out by himself and Kevin Kelly noted that this didn’t seem right. Nigel’s entrance brought a huge ovation as he made his way around the ring greeting the fans in the front row. Steve patiently waited in the corner with a serious expression. Corino remained uncharacteristically somber during the introductions and Nigel looked to be in good shape despite his health problems in recent years. Kevin Kelly noticed a commotion in the crowd and the camera turned to see Rhino climbing over the guardrail behind Nigel. Kevin Steen trailed after him and Kevin Kelly started yelling for Nigel to get out of there. Nigel was oblivious to what was going on as he was focused on Corino. Rhino began to sneak under the bottom rope, obviously to set up for a Gore! That is when Steen grabbed him by the legs and pulled him back to the floor. Kevin slammed Rhino’s face into the canvas and then powerbombed him onto the ring apron. The crowd was in a frenzy at this point and Nigel finally turned around to see what was going on. McGuinness went on high alert and held up his fists to stave off Corino. Bobby Fish raced down to the ring to join Corino while Steen got into the ring and stood at Nigel’s side. Corino and Fish backed off and collected Rhino before making their exit. Nigel looked at Steen suspiciously and Kevin gave him a nod and salute before leaving back through the crowd. Nigel remained in the ring a bit more, trying to figure out what had just happened. Jay Lethal def. Jimmy Jacobs by DQ The Fringe/JCH rivalry continued as this match quickly broke down into a brawl at ringside. As the ref held back Lethal, trying to get the match back into the ring, Jacobs yanked one of the ring crew out of his chair and used it on Jay. The disqualification came and the match ended with nothing settled. ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIPMichael Elgin(c) def. BJ Whitmer by pin Whitmer made a game effort of it, surprisingly breaking out some power moves against Elgin. It then seemed like a switch was flipped and Elgin had had enough. A couple of bone-rattling slams set BJ up for a Spinning Sit-Out Powerbomb and Elgin was victorious. ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP RELAXED RULES MATCH Jay & Mark briscoe(c) def. Matt Taven & Rhett Titus w/Truth Martini by pin The Briscoes still showed evidence of their nagging injuries. Jay’s ribs and Mark’s eye were bandaged. At the bell, Taven charged Jay who caught him and gave him a high press slam. Moments later, Taven is dropped with a Jay Driller and Briscoe made the cover. Titus, who was making eyes back and forth with Scarlet, noticed too late to make the save. Truth flipped his lid and berated Scarlet and Rhett. Taven was out of it and Truth helped him to the back, followed by Rhett and Scarlet who were both hanging their heads.
ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Roderick Strong(c) def. AJ Styles by pin Styles started off at a blinding pace and made Roddy take a powder after a Rack Bomb. AJ then tried a jump from the top rope but Strong caught him and gave him a backbreaker on the turnbuckle and went for the quick pin. Styles kicked out but then Roddy struck with a Sick Kick. Styles again kicked out at one. A couple of signature moves, a Sick Kick, and another kick out at one left the crowd wondering how long AJ could keep this up. Styles took over after some out of the ring action and put together some solid offense. Roderick reversed a hold by AJ and put him in a LeBell Lock that forced Styles to grab the ropes. Another Sick Kick, another near fall and Roddy kept on building steam. AJ was getting put through the wringer until he dodged a charge into the corner by Strong. The time Roddy spent on the floor allowed AJ to recover and get back into the match. Styles was on a good roll until he missed another jump from the top. Roddy capitalized with The End of Heartache and retained ROH World Championship.
Current Rankings:
- Roderick Strong
- Michael Elgin
- Jay Lethal
- Jimmy Jacobs
- ACH
- Mike Bennett
