A very cool Best in the World with a great victory by Roderick Strong over AJ Styles. I was hoping that Homicide & BJ Whitmer would've won their respective matches, but it was cool with the whole McGuinness & Corino story and I look to see how that unfolds...

What a main event. I really need to get some traction with my own Indy cards. I was hoping that Corino would get a beating but I thought the angle was fun. Perhaps risky to put on a blow off show but I definitely want to see what is next.

Crimson Cross - Homicide won in his eyes, I'm sure. Haha! bookerbill - I get your point about the Corino angle but I was not satisified with the build-up. There is an end point that I think would have been rushed if it happened on this show. I also wanted to involve Steen as his last hurrah. And Rhino was back mainly because you and Crimson liked his prior attack on Nigel. Thus my comment about you being partly to blame for the trap. The Strong/Styles match turned out pretty good. AJ could have done better but overall I think it worked. Unlike the let down of the tag-team title match.

The House of Truth backstage at Best In The World. Nick Jackson: "Nice match out there, dorks. You couldn't even beat a pair of gimpy rednecks. Lame."Matt Jackson: "While we tour the world collecting checks and collecting belts, we left you here to hold down the fort for The House of Truth and you let us down."Nick: "Epic fail!"Matt Taven: "Hey, we've been doing good enough to earn that title match. I can't even remember the last time you guys got a shot at the belts."Rhett Titus: "If the two of you think you're better than us, then maybe we should find out."Truth Martini: "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Our success relies on us working as a unit. We're not going to start fighting amongst ourselves."Matt: "Whatever you say, Truth."Nick: "Taven works well as a unit all by himself..."Truth: "Enough! We'll discuss this off camera."

RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2014 Season Episode 19 BJ Whitmer def. TaDarius Thomas by pin It looked like BJ had this one in the bag in the first few minutes but TD fought his way back into the match. This well-contested battle ended with Whitmer going over with a Wrist Clutch Exploder. Steve Corino came to the ring bringing matchmaker Nigel McGuinness to his feet at the commentary position. Corino told Nigel to calm down and that he wasn't here to make trouble. Nigel called him a coward but Steve dismissed it. Corino explained that he didn't wrestle McGuinness at Best In The World because, even though he wanted to beat Nigel up, he knew McGuinness wasn't one hundred percent and didn't want to give Nigel an excuse for losing. Nigel called that bollocks and that he would fight Corino right now but Steve insisted Nigel take more time to train. Rhett Titus def. Tomasso Ciampa by pin Scarlett Bordeaux accompanied Rhett to the ring but Truth Martini came out and ordered her to return to the back. She reluctantly complied and Titus was perturbed. Ciampa and Titus threw down and had a hard-hitting match. Titus' momentum kept building and he put down Tomasso with a Thrust Buster. INSIDE ROH: Ring of Honor's next live event comes to you from Cincinnati! Roderick Strong will defend the ROH World Championship against ACH. Tune in again next week for more matches to be announced! Jay Lethal & ACH def. The Young Bucks w/Truth Martini by pin Nick Jackson and ACH had an exciting exchange. When Lethal tagged in, he hit Nick with three straight Lethal Injections. Truth Martini had to distract the referee to prevent the pinfall. A fourth Lethal Injection saw Matt Jackson get the ref's attention as Martini tried to hit Lethal with the Book of Truth. Jay blocked and took the Book, clobbering Nick with it and scoring a fifth Lethal Injection for the victory. Next: AJ Styles vs. Matt Taven!

RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2014 Season Episode 20 Kyle O'Reilly vs. Cedric AlexanderO'Reilly looked sharp early on with his MMA background but Cedric came roaring back. There were a couple of near falls but time expired before a winner could be determined. The fans chanted for five more minutes in appreciation of the action they just saw. Steve Corino came out for his match against his long-time nemesis, Homicide. He explained that he promised himself that he would never get in the ring with Homicide again because he didn't want to re-ignite their feud. He then accused Nigel McGuinness of making this match just to see Corino get hurt. Nigel stood up at the commentary position and denied it. McGuinness went on to say that there was a match scheduled for this time and a match was going to happen. Steve offered a substitute for himself. Rhino came out and Nigel immediately went on the defensive and started calling for security. Staff held back Rhino before he could get to the ring. Homicide interjected, saying if Corino was too much of a p***y then he would wrestle Rhino instead. Nigel hesitated but the crowd started chanting “Yes!” so he okay-ed the match. Corino looked satisfied and went to the back. Rhino def. Homicide by DQ Their was a furious exchange of offense between the two brawlers but it ended predictably with Homicide getting disqualified for attacking Rhino with a fork. Staff and security had to keep the men separated and escort them from the ring area. INSIDE ROH: Ring of Honor's next stop on the road will be in Cincinnati. Roderick Strong defends the ROH World Championship! Plus we will see Jay Lethal and Jimmy Jacobs in a Fight Without Honor! And it's time for the rubber match: Styles/Fish III. Matt Taven w/Truth Martini def. AJ Styles by pin Coming out of the gate, Taven looked out of his depth as Styles dominated the action and Truth had to distract the ref after an early Styles Clash. Taven eventually took it up a notch and had Styles in a few pinning predicaments. AJ turned the tide late in the match and put Taven in a Calf Killer. Truth once again inserted himself in the match and Styles made him pay for it. With his opponents back turned, Taven took the advantage and planted AJ with an Arm Trap Headlock Driver. The crowd was stunned and Martini did a victory lap around the ring, holding the Book of Truth overhead. Next: Michael Elgin defends the ROH World Television Championship against Bobby Fish!

RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2014 Season Episode 21 Mike Bennett def. Caprice Coleman by count out Bennett looked to finish Caprice early with a Prodigy Piledriver. Coleman kicked out but Bennett followed up with a Photo Finish. As he went for the pin, Adam Cole came to ringside bringing Mike to his feet. Cole held his hands up feigning innocence. Bennett tossed Coleman to the floor in front of Cole. Adam backed up the ramp, apparently not wanting any trouble. Bennett, in a show of defiance, gave Caprice a second Photo Finish onto the metal ramp, then crawled back into the ring, leaving Coleman to be counted out. Cole looked down at the semi-conscious Caprice and shrugged, heading back through the curtain. An unidentified older gentleman in a business suit got into the ring, holding something under his arm. The fans are curious and Kevin Kelly is puzzled. The man had a microphone and asked for Roderick Strong to come out. Ring of Honor World Champion Roderick Strong came to the ring wearing street clothes, carrying the belt on his shoulder. He had an inquiring look on his face and waited to hear what the man had to say. The man went on to extol the virtues of Strong, who nodded with agreement. He finished off by presenting Roderick with a plaque proclaiming him ‘Mr. ROH’. Strong accepted the plaque with feigned humbleness and Kevin Kelly blurted “I should have known.” Strong then had a few words to say: “It’s a great honor to receive this award and be recognized as the greatest wrestler to ever set foot in an ROH ring. (fans boo) At Best In The World, everyone was so sure that AJ Styles would be the one to finally beat me. Obviously, he didn't. But even if he had, that would not have changed the fact that I am ‘Mr. ROH’. I don’t need this title to prove to anyone that I am the best in the world.”The fans razzed Strong some more until an entrance theme not heard in ROH for quite some time played. ‘The Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels, also in street clothes, came down the ramp to a huge pop from the crowd. He made his way around the ring, slapping hands with the enthusiastic fans. Strong did not look happy as Daniels climbed into the ring and asked for the mic. “Hey, Roddy, it’s been a long time. I was in the building to announce my return to Ring of Honor (fans cheer) and I couldn’t help but overhear what was going on out here. Don’t get me wrong, you have been, and are, a great world champion. But when you say you’re ‘Mr. ROH’? I have to disagree. I main event-ed the first ever Ring of Honor show. If anyone around here has the right to say they are ‘Mr. ROH’, it’s me! (Strong shakes his head and slaps the belt) Oh, make no mistake, Roderick. Not only are we going to change the name on that plaque, but I have my eyes on that ROH title as well.”Daniels exited the ring and made another circuit of ringside with the fans giving him their full support. Strong remained in the ring, scowling. Jimmy Jacobs def. Adam Cole by pin Cole was on fire against Jacobs and had the leader of The Fringe on his heels the entire match. Jacobs kicked out of multiple pin attempts but Cole kept the pressure on. Jacobs resorted to breaking the rules when he used the ropes to reverse a pinning situation and then used his Railroad Spike to put Adam down for the count. The fans were furious about the sudden turnaround but Cole didn’t seem upset. He just nodded to himself resolutely and rolled out of the ring, going to the back without a complaint. INSIDE ROH: Christopher Daniels makes his ROH return next week in Cincinnati! Hot off his win last week against AJ Styles, Matt Taven faces Michael Elgin! Plus all of the stars of ROH! ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIPMichael Elgin def. Bobby Fish by pin Elgin used his dominant strength to man-handle Fish. Despite getting pretty much mowed over, Bobby did get a couple of bursts of offense in. The TV champ seemed to get tired of toying with the challenger and finally finished him with a Deadlift Powerbomb. Next: Ring of Honor in Cincinnati!

LINE IN THE SAND July 26, 2014 Cincinnati, OH Christopher Daniels vs. TaDarius Thomas no contest “The Fallen Angel” was set for his ROH return match, when ROH World Champion Roderick Strong sneaked in through the crowd and bashed Daniels in the back of the head with his “Mr. ROH” plaque. Daniels had trouble standing and needed help leaving the ring. The match was ruled a no contest. Kyle O'Reilly def. Rhett Titus by pin O’Reilly was intense and unrelenting as he weakened Titus in a Guillotine Choke. Kyle used a Regalplex to finish off Rhett. After the match, Scarlett Bordeaux came to the ring to make sure Rhett was okay. Tomasso Ciampa def. Adam Cole by pin Cole was overwhelmed by Ciampa’s aggression. Adam took some hard shots outside of the ring and he tried fighting back but Tomasso wouldn't be denied. Project Ciampa spelled the end for Cole. Mike Bennett def. BJ Whitmer by pin This match was all Bennett from the bell. A series of Prodigy Piledrivers set up the Photo Finish, giving Bennett the victory. AJ Styles def. Bobby Fish by DQ Each man held a win over the other entering this match. Fish survived an early Styles Clash but AJ wouldn’t let up. Bobby sought refuge outside of the ring but Styles gave chase. Fish caught AJ by surprise and slammed his head into the timekeeper’s table. Climbing onto the table, dragging AJ up with him, Fish set up for a DDT. He ignored referee Todd Sinclair’s warnings and dropped Styles headfirst through the table. Sinclair called for the bell and Fish complained to the camera that this was ROH once again discriminating against him. He agitated the fans some more before leaving and AJ was helped out afterward. PROVING GROUND MATCH Matt Taven w/Truth Martini def. Michael Elgin by pin Following his win against AJ Styles recently on ROH Television, Taven received this Proving Ground match against Elgin with a chance to earn a future shot at the World Television Championship. Taven was on fire this night, overcoming Elgin’s strength advantage. An Elgin miscue led to a rope assisted neckbreaker. Taven cradled the champion with a handful of tights and stole the fall. Taven, Truth, and the Hoopla Hotties mocked the disgruntled Elgin as they headed up the ramp.
FIGHT WITHOUT HONOR Jimmy Jacobs def. Jay Lethal by pin Lately, Jacobs has been a thorn in Lethal’s side. And a Railroad Spike in his forehead. Jacobs got the jump on Jay with a low blow and immediately went for The End of Time. Unable to finish his opponent so soon, Jimmy kept Lethal off balance and took the fight into the crowd. Jacobs used the guardrails and the ring post to stun Lethal and pulled a ladder from under the ring and suplexed Jay onto it. Lethal made Jacobs eat a chair but Jimmy whipped him into the post again and gave him another suplex on the ladder. Jimmy went for The End of Time again. This time it looked like Lethal was going to go out but he showed signs of life at the last moment. Jacobs climbed to the top rope but Jay recovered and sent him to the mat and grabbed a chair. Jacobs got clobbered again and Jay got a near fall after a Lethal Combination. Lethal hunted under the ring for a weapon and reemerged with a length of chain. He wrapped it around Jimmy’s neck and strangled him with it. The match continued in this fashion with an epic battle at ringside . Then the moment finally came when Jacobs produces his Railroad Spike from his boot and jammed it into Lethal’s head, drawing blood. After Jimmy licked the bloody spike, he went for the pin and got the three count.
ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Roderick Strong(c) def. ACH by pin The champion ended this one in convincing fashion. At the bell, Roddy blocked a clothesline by the challenger, then each men went to the ropes, resulting in a double down as both tried running clothelines. Strong recovered first and lit up ACH with a Sick Kick for the win. Strong boasted in the ring about being “Mr. ROH”, holding his belt and plaque up until Christopher Daniels rushed the ring. Strong evacuated as fast as he could to avoid “The Fallen Angel’s” wrath.
Current Rankings:
- Roderick Strong
- Michael Elgin
- Jimmy Jacobs
- Jay Lethal
- Matt Taven
- ACH
- Mike Bennett
- Kyle O'Reilly
- Steve Corino
- BJ Whitmer
