Woah, woah, woah... Hold up a second... Did Matt Taven just kick off the show with a CLEAN victory over Jay Briscoe... The Melvins can say whatever they like... The Kingdom is making a comeback...
Another very enjoyable show that concludes with Truth and Sabin using their wits and Unbreakable Elgin winding up frustrated...
Not sure who's getting that top title shot at DBD, but it's gonna be a helluva show... Awesome stuff!

Big Mike made a big statement on episode 23 and if I were Chris Sabin and Truth Martini I would be very worried about DBD. Elgin has what it takes to win that ROH Heavyweight title and if things go his way he might get that title shot. I had to laugh at Veda being repulsed by what Martini said to her. I think we are all repulsed by Truth so I can see where she is coming from lol. Matt Taven over Jay Briscoe was a huge upset. I wouldn't have wanted to been around Jay after taking that loss. Huge win for Taven so it will be interesting to see how he follows up on it.

Pariah , cruefan68 - Michael Elgin came up empty but will he get another opportunity? We will find out next episode! Taven's big win over Jay Briscoe definitely helps with where I'm trying to go with him. As you will see here, the plot thickens... Thanks for the comments guys! Uploaded to the Ring of Honor YouTube Channel: Kingdom-less Pt. 3Matt Taven is returning from the ring and runs into the House of Truth backstage. “Hey, Truth! Whaddaya say, buddy? I think it’s time to bring some Hoopla back to the House of Truth!”Truth Martini is inscrutable behind his big sunglasses but his uncharacteristic silence is an indication of how he feels about Taven’s presence. Matt steps closer but Donovan Dijak puts himself between Matt and Martini. “I could do a lot for you. Did you see what I just did? I beat Jay Briscoe in the middle of the ring, one-two-three! I know I wouldn’t have lost the TV title like this Melvin here.” He points at Adam Page, who bristles but Truth holds him back with a hand on his chest. “I could probably even carry this doofus,” looking up at Dijak, “And win the tag team titles. You know I’m good for business”Truth spends a moment in thought then gives Taven his answer: “To quote the Book of Truth: the door is not open to the one who turns his back on the master of the House.”With a wave of his hand, Martini motions for his guys to take their leave. Chris Sabin asks no one in particular, “Who was that guy?”A frustrated Taven watches them depart. “Too bad they don’t appreciate you,” says a voice off camera. Taven turns to see a grinning Adam Cole leaning against the wall nearby. “Because I know some of us do.”

RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2016 Season Episode 24 Adam Cole came to the ring at the show open. He smiled as he waited for the boos to subside, then spoke his business. “Ring of Honor, the time has come. Nigel McGuinness, I’m talking to you. I’m on the hottest winning streak in this company and my time has come for a shot at the ROH World Championship!”ROH matchmaker McGuinness had come to ringside to hear what Cole had to say. His expression indicated that he saw Adam’s point. Before Nigel could respond, he was interrupted. “Now wait just one damn minute!”Jay Lethal came down the aisle, paused to sneer at the crowd, then joined Cole in the ring. “Adam, you know how we do things in Affluence. If anyone around here is getting a title shot, it’s me!”“But Jay,” Cole said condescendingly. “You lost the title to Chris Sabin AND you failed to get it back in the rematch. It’s time to let someone else get the job done.”Lethal was fuming and Kevin Kelly was dubious of the proceedings. “Affluence has tried this act before and I’m not buying it.”“I think they mean it this time, Kevin,” replied his commentary partner Steve Corino. “You sonova…” Lethal began, only for it to be his turn to be interrupted as Michael Elgin’s music played and the crowd popped. Big Mike approached Nigel at ringside and pled his case for a title opportunity. “Nigel, you know I was cheated last week against Chris Sabin. I deserve a rematch - for the ROH title!”Lethal and Cole both protested. ROH World Champion Chris Sabin and his manager Truth Martini appeared at the entrance, seeming to enjoy the bickering going on. Nigel was contemplating a decision and Martini offered a solution that was obviously favorable to his man. “How about this: the three of them fight at Death Before Dishonor, then we will take on the winner in the main event.”Lethal and Cole looked at each other and Elgin bristled. “Oh, no. Not this again,” exclaimed Kevin Kelly, recalling the three-way match in which Cole and Lethal pretended to be at each other's throats then bamboozled Elgin out of the championship. Nigel was not having it. “I have a better idea. It’s time to defy,” looking to Elgin, then Affluence. “Or deny,” looking in Sabin and Martini’s direction. “The main event at Death Before Dishonor will be Defy or Deny, except for the first time, the ROH championship will be on the line. Four-way elimination, the winner to be ROH World Champion! And any man eliminated by Sabin will not be allowed a shot at the title for as long as he remains champion!”Sabin looked confused as he asked a worried Truth what had just transpired. Elgin was his stoic self and Lethal screamed “I’m not getting screwed by this crap again!”The only one who appeared pleased with the scenario was Cole who left with a smile on his face. The Addiction def. The Young Bucks by pin Kevin Kelly billed this as a generational showdown but there was a surprisingly rapid result. Christopher Daniels traded counters with Matt Jackson before planting the younger man with a sit-out powerbomb and transitioning to a Koji Clutch. Matt was not going to give up and Daniels released him only to pounce with Angel’s Wings. Kazarian blocked Nick Jackson as the count was made. The more experienced grappler outfoxed his competition but the result did not sit well with the fans who booed the outcome. Donovan Dijak w/Truth Martini def. ACH by pin ACH looked good at first, hitting a non-stop barrage of high impact offense. Unfortunately, none of it did any major damage to the 6’8” Dijak. A big boot to the face by Dijak led to Feast Your Eyes and the pin. Martini nodded confidently as Dijak got the impressive win heading into his Television title shot against BJ Whitmer at Death Before Dishonor in one week. ROH Update with Stokely Hathaway“With Death Before Dishonor XIV just one week away, the wait is almost over! Chris Sabin faces not one but three challengers as he defends the ROH World Championship in a Defy or Deny match against Jay Lethal, Adam Cole, and Michael Elgin. reDRagon vs. The All Night Express for the ROH World Tag Team Championship! New ROH World Television Champion BJ Whitmer takes on Donovan Dijak! Also the final matches in the Who’s the Better Briscoe Challenge. And just signed - Matt Taven vs. Dalton Castle and The Addiction vs. War Machine! I tell you fans, if you can’t be there live, you better catch it on iPPV! I’ll see you in Las Vegas this Saturday!” reDRagon def. Kenny King & Dalton Castle by submission Filling in for the injured Rhett Titus was Dalton Castle who had some recent trouble himself with the man who put Titus on the shelf, Kyle O’Reilly. As ROH World Tag Team Champions, O’Reilly and his partner Bobby FIsh were looking to possibly take some of the starch out of King before Titus returned at Death Before Dishonor for ANX’s rematch for the titles. Fish and King started out trading shots until Kenny fell victim to reDRagon’s two man smash machine backbreaker/flying knee drop combo. O’Reilly cycled through his signature moves then put King in Armageddon, getting the tap out. Castle never saw action. “Kenny, you better tell Rhett to stay home because I think you guys have had enough of Kyle here!” Bobby Fish shouted at King who winced in pain.

The tag champs looked absolutely fierce in that main event... Even though King was without his usual partner, I think Mr Fish was 100% on point... ANX will not take those belts from reDRagon...
Thoroughly enjoying the turmoil surrounding the top prize... Sabin may have reason to gripe because instead of warding off one challenger at DBD, the House of Truth member has to face off against three other men... Interested to see if Adam Cole (bay-bay) can capitalize on this golden opportunity... If he agrees to play second fiddle to Lethal again, he deserves to stay there...
Fun stuff, as always!

I love the main event set up for DBD as it takes away that Jay Lethal-Adam Cole strategy in the previous match and also gives Chris Sabin a chance to eliminate some contenders. Best of all is that Michael Elgin gets another shot at the gold. I can't wait to see how that match plays out. Excellent booking there.

Pariah , cruefan68 - All I can say is - the main events of this card lived up to the hype. reDRAGon/ANX and the 4-way Defy or Deny title match were off the hook! DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR XIV August 26, 2016 Las Vegas, NV War Machine def. The Addiction by pin The show started with a bang as War Machine devastated The Addition. At the Code of Honor, Hanson gave Christopher Daniels a scoop slam as Raymond Rowe used death kicks to knock Kazarian out of the ring. Daniels felt the Fallout as War Machine crushed him with their combo finisher for the flash win. The crowd was on it’s feet as Hanson and Rowe pumped them up after the victory. Silas Young def. Cheeseburger by pin Cheeseburger was coming back from injury against the rugged “Last Real Man In Professional Wrestling”. Silas looked at Burger with disgust. “You call this a man?” he spat with contempt. The sneaky Cheeseburger grabbed Young during the Code of Honor and rocked him with a German suplex that had the crowd cheering. Burger’s advantage was short-lived as Silas caught him as he attempted a double jump cross body. A Last Real Man Lariat obliterates the smaller man and Young heaves him out of the ring like a sack of garbage. Cheeseburger tries fighting back back Young takes his time beating on him until finishing it with a Pee Gee Waja Plunge. Matt Taven def. Dalton Castle by pin Aside from a near fall with a Deadlift German Suplex, Castle was easily defeated by Taven with the Climax in this short match. ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIPBJ Whitmer(c) def. Donovan Dijak w/Truth Martini by pin Dijak was seeking to regain the Television title for the House of Truth. Former champion Adam Page was conspicuous by his absence. Dijak manhandled the champion, overwhelming him with his size and power. BJ put together a couple of streaks of offense that didn’t amount to much. Feast Your Eyes had Truth nodding confidently at ringside but Whitmer kicked out at the last moment. Truth gave the simple instruction of “Again” but Whitmer showed fighting spirit, kicking out at one. BJ was knocked out of the ring and it was on the floor that he was able to turn the tide. Wrist Clutch Exploder only got one and BJ was visibly depleted. Dijak went back on the offensive but Whitmer rebounded out of the corner with a wicked lariat. A hook of the leg resulted in a three count with Whitmer retaining following an awful beating. After intermission, Stokely Hathaway and Veda Scott came out and introduced the Briscoe Brothers. The Briscoes made their entrance and the fans were in great anticipation for the final matches in the Who’s the Better Briscoe Challenge. Stokely gave a recap of the developments up to this point and confirmed that the brothers were tied in the contest. After Hathaway finished the hype work, he asked Jay to pick Mark’s final opponent. “Well, Big Stoke, I been thinkin’ and it seems to me that Mark needs a real challenge if I’m gonna win this thing. So I pick… NIck Jackson of The Young Bucks!”Stokely’s face scrunched up in disbelief and the sentiment was echoed through the crowd. Mark just nodded and mean-mugged. The Young Bucks music played and they came out, questioning looks on their faces. Matt Jackson got on a mic. “Uh… I don’t know what game you dorks are playing but we’re not part of it. Nick and I are a team and we’re both signed to wrestle tonight.”Mark Briscoe grabbed the mic from Jay. “Alright, then. Jay, for you, I’m picking Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks!”Jay took the mic back. “Problem solved, boys.”“No, wait,” blurted Matt. “You’re not getting it. We are not going to wrestle you two rednecks tonight. We are a tag team. We are wrestling in a tag team match.” Jay chuckled to himself then confided with Stokely. “Can I let you in a little secret, Stokely? You see, me and Chicken, we been whuppin’ on each other our whole lives. And during that whole time, we ain’t never been able to settle who’s better.”“Even though, we all know it’s me,” Mark interjected. “So we came up with this challenge, see. But so far that ain’t solved nuthin’. So, this afternoon, we got to talkin’ and it all came back around to that question: who’s the better Briscoe? Except, the question came out a little different. I mean, after a couple of beers, that can happen. Instead, I said, who’s better than the Briscoes? And Chicken gave the answer everyone already knows - nobody! Dem Boys are the best damn tag team in ROH history! So right now we’re changing this to the Who’s Better Than the Briscoes Challenge! And Young Bucks, you’re the first ones who get to step up to the plate!”The Bucks balked at the challenge but the crowd chant of “Man Up!” goaded them to accept. Steve Corino said to his commentary partner Kevin Kelly that this was now also the Who’s the Better Brothers Challenge.” Jay & Mark Briscoe def. The Young Bucks by pin The fast-paced action mostly went in favor of the Briscoes as Mark and Jay isolating Nick. It was Mark going over with a Cut-Throat Driver as the Briscoes made a splash in their return to the tag team division. ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPThe All Night Express def. reDRagon(c) by pin More tag action as Kenny King and Rhett Titus took on their bitter rivals Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly for the tag team titles. Titus, back from injury, started out against O’Reilly, the man who put him on the shelf for some time. ANX had Kyle in trouble early and he had to tag out. Fish didn’t fair much better as ANX were firing on all cylinders. O’Reilly was back in and took a Muff Driver from Titus but landed close to the ropes, preventing a pin attempt. Rhett went for his finisher again, this time in the middle of the ring but only got a two count. King tagged in for a Coronation and Fish had to break up the pin try. reDRagon couldn’t get on track until Kyle caught King coming off the top rope and put him in Armageddon. Not getting the submission, O’Reilly took King to the floor, winning the subsequent brawl. Fish was back in and nearly got a submission with a leglock on King. Titus had to make a couple of saves as King fell victim to reDragon’s flawless teamwork, including Chasing the Dragon. The match broke down into a chaotic brawl and, after the ref regained control, ANX gave O’Reilly the One Night Stand to win the championship in another tag team classic between these two teams. Defy Or DenyROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPChris Sabin(c) w/Truth Martini vs. Jay Lethal vs. Adam Cole vs. Michael ElginMatt Taven joined Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino for commentary as anticipation for the main event was high. Sabin had the unenviable task of defending his title against three other men in this elimination match. On the upside, if he survived as champion, anyone he eliminated would not be eligible for another title shot while he was champion. Lethal and Cole, while both members of Affluence, gave each other the cold shoulder during introductions. Kevin put it all down as an act and suspected they were up to something. Taven said he had it on good authority that Cole and Lethal both intended to win the title at all costs, including sacrificing the harmony within Affluence. Elgin was still the odd man out as, theoretically, Cole and Lethal were allies and Sabin had Truth Martini in his corner. Lethal came out on top of the opening melee and went to work on Elgin. The sneaky Sabin cut in and nearly pinned Elgin with Cradle Shock. Sabin stayed on Elgin but the involvement of the others allowed Big Mike to turn the tables and go on the offense against the world champion. Cole and Lethal put an end to the beating and Cole hit the Panama Sunrise on Elgin for a short two count. Elgin came back against Cole and dished out the same to him as he did to Sabin but missed a corkscrew splash, giving the advantage back to Cole. A Florida Key for a close count that had the fans chanting “That was three!” Lethal tossed Adam out of the ring and took over on Elgin but got a Buckle Bomb for his efforts that resulted in a near fall. It looked like Elgin was the workhorse for this match as Cole dumped Lethal to the floor and went back to work on Mike again. Elgin tried fighting back but ended up on the floor too. Cole climbed to the top and looked to dive but got shoved off the turnbuckle by Sabin. The champ stayed on Cole until Lethal came back in. Chris went after the man he won the title from and threw him back out of the ring to return to Cole. The two battled back and forth with Cole getting a near fall with a Florida Key. Elgin entered the ring and Cole attacked him. Elgin returned fire with a devastating lariat that turned Cole inside out. Elgin covered him but Taven stood up at the announce position and put Cole’s foot on the bottom rope, negating the attempt. Kevin Kelly got on Taven’s case and Corino told Kevin that Matt was probably just caught up in the moment. The exhausted Elgin glared in Taven’s direction as he stretched Adam with a crossface submission. Elgin and Cole had a match within a match, each going for the win. Lethal returned and tossed Cole to go after Elgin once more. After smashing Elgin into the ring post, Jay hit with Diving Dynamite and went for the pin. Mike kicked out but Lethal immediately locked him in a Koji Clutch. Drained and with no hope of escape, Elgin tapped out. Michael Elgin was eliminated.Meanwhile, Cole was battering Sabin. Lethal shoved Cole aside to go for Hail To The King. Jay continued to pound the champion and pushed Cole down when he tried to intercede. Lethal wiped out Sabin at ringside with his trademark trio of suicide dives. Jay applied the Koji Clutch to Sabin and Truth Martini got involved, spurring Lethal to release the hold. Truth backed off and Jay struck with a Lethal Injection. That should have been it for Sabin but Truth jumped up on the apron again. As the ref tried to keep Lethal and Martini apart, Sabin grabbed the strategically placed Book of Truth and clocked Jay with it and made the cover. Cole watched with amusement, leaning in the corner as the ref made the three count. Jay Lethal was eliminated.Cole was finally in the position he wanted; one on one with the world champion. Sabin was the worse for wear and on top of that, the referee ejected Martini from ringside! Cole stalked his prey but Sabin was more game than he anticipated. The two struggled for supremacy. Cole hit with a brainbuster onto his knee and got a two count. Adam climbed to the top rope but Sabin shoved the ref causing Cole to topple. Sabin tried to mount a comeback but Cole got his steam up again, working Chris into position for the Panama Sunrise. Spiking Sabin hard into the mat, Cole made the cover. One, two… three! The crowd popped and Taven stood up at clapping. Affluence gathered in the ring to congratulate the new ROH World Champion. Jay Lethal did not join the festivities, looking disgruntled at ringside. Current Rankings:
ROH World Champion - Adam Cole
- Chris Sabin
- Jay Lethal
- BJ Whitmer
- Michael Elgin
- Adam Page
- Christopher Daniels
- Matt Taven
- Matt Sydal
- Jay Briscoe
- Mark Briscoe

Death Before Dishonor delivers in a big way! Totally impressed with Whitmer's comeback victory over Dijak to retain the TV title... And that swerve by the Briscoes was B-U-Ti-FUL... Glad to see Jay and Mark back on the same page... Who IS better that the Briscoes really? Is a run at the tag belts in their future? Here's hoping...
Although I wanted reDRagon to retain, there is no denying the hunger shown by the challengers... ANX refused to give up and earned their place at the top of the tag team division... How long they can remain there is anyone's guess...
Congratulations to Adam Cole on throwing off the shackles of his alliance to become the new ROH World champion... Expecting the members of Affluence to start choosing sides now... Very excited to see how Matt Taven might play into this current scenario...
Excellent show, as always!

Our good friend Pariah pretty much said it all. DBD was awesome and congrats to Adam Cole on becoming the new ROH Heavyweight champion and to ANX on capturing the ROH tag titles. Congrats also to BJ Whitmer on retaining the ROH TV title after taking a solid beating from Dijak in their match.
