The Honor Rumble was a very exciting way to open the Extravaganza... It looks like Elgin benefited greatly from his late entry... But, he might have been running out of steam by the time he faced Cole for the top prize... Impressive defense by Adam Cole bay-bay! Lynn's appearance in the Rumble was a cool surprise... Too bad he couldn't quite go the distance... Also interested that Truth Martini was given a chance to compete... Did you actually have stats for him? Or was he a throwaway elimination for War Machine? Omega vs Sydal was a lot more one-sided that expected... But, Sabin was out there at the conclusion... Can't wait to see where that leads... Brilliant showings by Dijak and reDRagon as well, leading to the former retaining his title and the latter reclaiming tag team gold... Hopefully someone with experience will offer Cheeseburger a warning regarding the dangerous liaison he seems to be forming with Veda Scott... Otherwise, he could be heading into choppy waters... Excellet stuff, as always! Amazing recap by our friend Pariah. Not much more I can add except I am also interested how you handled Truth Martini being involved? Great to see reDRagon win the Ladder War to regain the tag titles on top. ASE VIII had a little bit of everything and was a really fun read.

ASE was an outstanding show! I particularly really liked both the Honor Rumble and the story line involving Veda Scott, Cheeseburger, and Stokely Hathaway. Looking forward to what happens next.

I have to agree that ASE was a fun show. Maybe the matches were a little one sided on top but the ladder match had plenty of carnage and served as a fitting finally to the feud. I just want to say the write up style for the rumble was awesome and really pops. I am going to have to "borrow" that for my next rumble style match. Awesome work.

Pariah , cruefan68 - As Pariah surmised, Truth Martini's appearance in the Rumble was a throw away elimination just for fun. No actual card was used. He and Jerry Lynn were added for flavor. Vegas - The Veda, Stokely, Cheeseburger angle does not involve major players but may have significant impact on the future of ROH Television. bookerbill - When I was thinking about the format for the Rumble write up, I thought an integrated list of entries and eliminations told the story of the match better. Sort of a timeline. I'm not even sure if I didn't "borrow" this style myself, so you are welcome to it. I had a lot of fun rolling out ASE and it sounds like you guys had fun reading it. Mission accomplished! Thanks for commenting!
RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2016 Season Episode 28 Caprice Coleman def. Jay Lethal by disqualification Lethal came out with an obvious chip on his shoulder. He started the contest with a low blow on Coleman and it only went downhill from there for Caprice. Lethal’s MO was pure violence as he took the already abused Coleman to the floor and smashed him into the ring post. The ref’s warnings were met with defiance as Jay picked up a chair and bashed his opponent with it and glared at the official. The blatant nature of Jay’s actions assuredly led to the ref disqualifying him. Before Lethal could leave the ring area, Veda Scott came down with a microphone, wanting to get a word from him. “Jay! Jay, I’m sure our viewers want to know where this unfettered aggression is coming from.”Jay tried ignoring her but she blocked his path to the aisle. His lip curled and on commentary Kevin Kelly urged her not to put herself in harm’s way. “Jay, is there any chance this has something to do with Adam Cole currently holding the ROH World Championship, a title you held as the leader of Affluence? Does this mean that Adam is now the top guy…”“Veda Scott, you shut your mouth!”“But Jay, you and Adam have had a history of butting heads over the hierarchy in Affluence. You can’t be happy about him taking that top spot.”Veda smiled and held the mic up for a response from the seething Lethal. Steve Corino echoed his broadcast partner’s concerns for Veda’s safety: “Oh, Veda, don’t go poking the bear.”The tension was at the redline when Matt Taven came out. “Jay! Buddy. Why are you so wound up?” Taven cheerfully asked. “She’s just doing her job. Besides, it shouldn’t matter who the world champion is, as long has Affluence has the belt. Am I right?”Lethal did not appreciate Taven’s presence, as it was still in question whether he considered Matt a welcome addition to Affluence or not. “Hey, Jay, just chill out buddy. Don’t let these Melvins get into your head. I got a match right now but we can talk later. And don’t worry, I’m going to get that win back for you from when Michael Elgin beat you last time. Affluence baby!”Taven got into the ring with Lethal glared at him going into the break. Michael Elgin def. Matt Taven by pin Elgin was coming off a losing bid for the ROH World Championship held by Taven’s Affluence teammate Adam Cole. He got off to a decent start but Matt fired back getting a near fall with a rope hung neckbreaker that had the fans shouting ‘That was three!’. Taven appeared a step ahead for most of the match until Big Mike scored with a Buckle Bomb followed by an Elgin Bomb. Taven kicked out of the pin attempt but got dropped with a spinning backfist right after. Elgin got a measure of redemption against Affluence but would it keep him in title contention? ROH Update with Stokely Hathaway“Hello, folks. Ian Riccaboni here, filling in for Stokely Hathaway. Ring of Honor’s next iPPV, Glory By Honor, comes to you from Chicago Ridge. The feature attraction of the night will be our traditional Champions vs. All Stars 8-man elimination tag team match. We know the champions: ROH World CHampion Adam Cole, ROH World Television Champion Donovan Dijak, and ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon. But who will comprise the All Star team? You’ll have to stay tuned in the coming weeks as we make the announcements. But I can give you a hint: a brother tag team will be participating. Well, that’s all for this update. Join us next week for more information about Glory By Honor!” The Young Bucks def. The All Night Express by pin Having just lost the ROH World Tag Team Championship, ANX were looking to recapture their momentum against the slumping Young Bucks. Rhett Titus and Kenny King went to work double-teaming Matt Jackson. Matt fought back against King and was able to tag in his brother Nick. The Bucks showed their flawless teamwork and Titus had to make the save after Kenny was spiked with a Meltzer Driver. The action was back and forth at a fast pace. The Bucks were sharp on offense, hitting all of their signature moves. Titus survived one Indytaker but the second one ended the night for ANX. Kevin Kelly noted that it looked as if these two teams may be headed in opposite directions.

Oh, snap... Lethal opening the first show following ASE with a loss to a tag team specialist like Coleman (regardless of the technical decision) is not a good sign... Could this be a sign of him starting to spiral out of control? He did manage to restrain himself when Taven was running his mouth... So, there's something... Was hoping to see Taven defeat Elgin... If for no other reason than to see how Lethal would react...
Stokely dropped a fun hint regarding the upcoming Champions vs All-Stars Elimination match... Knowing that a brother tag team will result in all kinds of speculation... Briscoes? Young Bucks? OR...
Awesome entertainment, my friend... As always!

Thanks for the explanation on Truth Martini. I thought maybe you subbed another manager card for him but I like what you did even better as the throwaway elimination was fun. Jay Lethal is becoming unhinged and I love it. Veda Scott and Matt Taven really pushed his buttons and I see him exploding real soon. I agree with Pariah in wanting Taven to beat Elgin just to see how Lethal would react. ANX may be falling fast but it would be cool to see the Young Bucks going for the tag titles. Another solid edition of ROH TV.

Pariah , cruefan68 - I was SO hoping for Taven to win for the same reason you guys were. Taven has wormed his way into second in command of Affluence it seems. Internal turmoil will have to follow, right? bookerbill - Bravados? OI4K? Los Primos Rivera?!? I'm afraid the brother team to be announced is nothing so exotic. Read on for the predictable truth. Thanks for the comments fellas!
RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2016 Season Episode 29 Silas Young def. Dalton Castle by pin “Wrestling’s Last Real Man” had little trouble dispensing with “The Party Peacock” as Silas used a backbreaker to set up the pin on Castle. Ring of Honor host Veda Scott came to the ring with a confident swagger. She had come out to answer the question that she was sure was on everyone’s mind - where was Stokely Hathaway? She explained that since she filed a complaint with Sinclair Broadcasting about her co-host, Stokely has been put on leave, pending an inquiry by the human resources department. Kevin Kelly commented from the announce position that everyone, including Veda, was told not to talk about the situation on air. Hathaway appeared through the curtain and stood in the aisle, glaring at Veda. As he took a step in the direction of the ring, Veda warned him to keep his distance. Stokely paused for a moment then continued to move in her direction. A burly man rushed out and grabbed Stokely from behind. Hathaway spun out of his grip and threw a punch that missed badly as the man ducked and fired back with a sharp hook, catching Stokely on the chin and dropping him. The man joined Veda in the ring as Hathaway shook out the cobwebs. Veda introduced the man as ROH head of security, and former Golden Gloves boxer, Joey Daddiego. In lieu of taking premature action with a restraining order, Daddiego has been assigned as Veda’s personal security detail during ROH events. Additional ROH security came out to escort Stokely away as Veda wanted assurance from Joey that that ‘creep’ wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near her. Joey nodded, pounding his fist into his palm. reDRagon def. War Machine by DQ On the heels of regaining the ROH World Tag Team Championship, reDRagon were tasked with facing the rugged team of Raymond Rowe and Hanson in this non-title bout. Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly kept Rowe isolated early but Ray made a comeback and War Machine crushed Fish with their finisher. Bobby kicked out of the pin attempt and Hanson dumped him to the floor and went out after him. O’Reilly baited Rowe into the ring to distract the ref as Fish picked up a chair and tossed it to Hanson. As Warbeard caught the chair, Bobby collapsed into the corner of the barricade holding his head as if struck. The ref fell for it and disqualified War Machine. The crowd was up in arms over the finish, chanting ‘Bulls**t!’. ROH Update with Stokely Hathaway“Ian Riccaboni here with your ROH update for this week. I’m still filling in for Stokely Hathaway but you’ll be able to see Stokely in action at Glory By Honor. That’s right! Your regular host recently had an impromptu match against Cheeseburger a couple of weeks ago but came up on the losing end. Not satisfied with how that match ended, Stokely wants a rematch against Cheeseburger with ample time to prepare. It should be something to see. Last week I hinted at who two of the participants for the All Stars team for this year’s Champions vs. All Stars match at Glory By Honor. Well, those brothers are none other than Jay & Mark Briscoe! He’s two more hints as to who we will see on the All Stars team: both are recent holders of the ROH World Championship. As a matter of fact, one of them beat the other for the title. Any guesses? Tune in next week for the announcement! That’s it for now. Stay tuned to ROH Television for more of the best wrestling on the planet!”Adam Cole def. Matt Sydal by pin Sydal was on point with the ROH World Champion, putting Cole in danger early with a Sydal Special. Matt worked hard, trying to earn a shot at the title and got a near fall with a Here It Is Driver. Cole was bleary as Sydal mounted the turnbuckle for a Shooting Sydal Press. Cole grabbed the ref’s pant leg causing enough of a distraction for Matt Taven to jump in the ring and superkick Sydal as he made his leap. Cole jumped at the opportunity and hit the Panama Sunrise for the win. Taven joined Cole in the ring and, with fingertips peaked in an ‘A’ formation above their heads, shouted “Affluence Bay-Bay!”

Haha! Just something about Matt Taven and Adam Cole (Bay-Bay!) makes for an irresistible combination... IMO, two of the most entertaining personalities in the biz... And it was great to see them working together to ensure a victory for the champ over Sydal...
Speaking of entertainment, totally looking forward to the upcoming Champions vs All-Stars event... Gotta guess that it will be Lethal and Sabin joining Dem Boys on the All-Star squad...
Excellent stuff, as always!
