BAD BLOOD 6-MAN TAG TEAM MATCHChris Sabin, Silas Young & Joey Daddiego def. Jay Briscoe, Dalton Castle & Cheesburger by pin
Each of these six participants had reason to get their hands on one of the members of the opposite team. Briscoe started out against Sabin. They went around for a few minutes with Jay getting the better of Chris. Briscoe tagged in Castle who wanted to punish Sabin for abusing his Boys after a recent match between the two. Castle tried pinning Sabin twice with a Deadlift German Suplex. Chris thwarted an attempt by Castle to dive from the top rope and tagged in Young. Silas went for a Pee Gee Waja Plunge right away but Dalton kicked out of the pin attempt. Silas went to the top but Castle caught him on his way down and transitioned it into a Deadlift German Suplex for a short two count. Cheeseburger tagged in and immediately got his head taken off with a Last Real Man Lariat. Young went for the pin but pulled Burger up after two and looked to his corner. He asked Daddiego if he wanted
“...a piece of this runt”. Joey eagerly tagged in to do some damage to the object of his disdain. Daddiego thrashed Cheeseburger and hit him with a lariat of his own. As he made the cover, Briscoe tried to make the save but Silas cut him off and they tumbled through the ropes and began to brawl on the floor as the ref made the three count. Not a lot was settled in the respective grudges involved except perhaps Daddiego cleaning Cheeseburger’s clock. More can probably be expected on all three fronts.
Donovan Dijak w/Truth Martini def. Caprice Coleman by pin
Dijak made a spectacle of destroying #1 contender Mark Briscoe on television recently. It was clear that he had his eyes set on the ROH World Championship. A big boot to the face and a lariat was all it took to put away Coleman. Truth Martini was obviously riding high about how well his man has been performing and confidently proclaimed that Dijak would soon be ROH World Champion.
Roppongi Vice def. War Machine by pin
These two teams had faced each other before in Japan but this was the first time they would clash in front of an ROH crowd. Raymond Rowe and Rocky Romero got the ball rolling with this one as Rocky tried to arm drag Rowe as they shook hands during the Code of Honor. Rowe did not budge, instead hurling Romero into the corner and hitting him hard with a body splash. Rocky sputtered and dropped to his knees holding his chest. From his corner, Beretta bolstered his partner, yelling
“You got him right where you want him, Rocky!” Romero tried firing back but Rowe countered and almost got the pin with a surprise cradle. Hanson tagged in and Rocky looked forlorn as he was out-sized even more than he was with Rowe. A cartwheel lariat had Romero desperately trying to tag out but Hanson dragged him away from his corner. Two more cartwheel lariats had Rocky pleading to Hanson to let him tag out. Warbeard obliged as Beretta reluctantly spelled his beleaguered partner. Hanson no-sold some knife-edge chops by Beretta and whipped him into the buckles for a corner lariat. Beretta got a foot up as Hanson tried the move again, then hit the big man with a low blow and cradled him for a pin with his feet on the middle turnbuckle for leverage. Hanson kicked out at the last moment. A double team by RPG saw Romero come back in and start charging his opponent in the corner with Forever clotheslines until Hanson caught him and dropped him on the top turnbuckle with Snake Eyes. Rowe was back in and battered Rocky in and out of the ring. He left Romero on the floor to answer to the ref’s count. Beretta urged his partner to get back in the ring but Rocky was shaking his head, not wanting to but eventually rolled back in under the bottom rope. Rowe continued to clear house on RPG until Beretta went for another low blow and cover with feet on the ropes. This time the underhanded tactic worked and RPG Vice stole the victory.
ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIPLio Rush def. Adam Page(c) by pin
Page came out at the bell and pounded on Rush. “Hangman” went for an early Rite of Passage for a near fall. Lio absorbed more punishment before reversing Page with a DDT. Rush’s advantage was short lived as Page went on to work him over some more and try for another Rite of Passage, with Lio kicking out of the finisher a second time. Page missed a missile dropkick, giving Rush another chance to get on track. Lio seized the opportunity, going for Rush Hour. The TV champion kicked out at two and the complexion of the match had made a 180. Dragon’s Call by Rush only got a two count but his momentum was building. Rush Hour again and we had a new ROH World Television Champion! Rush couldn’t believe it as he fell to his knees clutching the title belt, having captured gold in only his third Ring of Honor match.
FIGHT WITHOUT HONORMatt Taven def. Christopher Daniels by pin
Daniels didn’t show any ill effect from the spike piledriver he recently received at the hands of Taven and Adam Cole. Daniels got in the first offense but Taven landed a superkick to the back of the head, sending Daniels through the ropes and to the floor. Matt threw a chair at “The Ring General” but Daniels quickly bounced back and tried to put Taven through a table with an elbow drop from the top of a ladder set up at ringside. Matt rolled out of the way and Chris took the full brunt of the impact. Taven gave Daniels a piledriver on the apron then rammed him face first into the post. The two brawled some before Daniels suplexed Matt onto the ladder. Back in the ring, Taven was on top with a pair of piledrivers and another chair shot. He tried to end it with a Climax but Daniels got a shoulder up at two. Taven hit the Climax two more times with Daniels kicking out. Matt was totally frustrated and on commentary Kevin Kelly was showing a great deal of concern for the condition of Daniels’ neck. Taven went for another piledriver as Kevin shouted protest. A cover and a three count saw Taven victorious. Kazarian came out to check on his partner. ROH officials and crew assisted Daniels to the back to check on his neck, strictly as a precautionary measure.
During the intermission, The All Night Express came out and let the locker room know that they were recruiting a third member for their team to compete in Tag Wars to crown the first ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions. ACH came out and clowned around for the crowd a while before letting ANX know that they should talk.
Jay Lethal def. Kenny Omega by pin
This much anticipated rematch had a lot to live up to. At the Code of Honor, Omega booted Lethal in the gut and gave him a powerbomb. “The Cleaner” was wide-eyed and smiling maniacally as the crowd cheered his preemptive strike. As Jay got to his feet, Omega blasted him with a Hadouken and covered him for a one count. Kenny was all over Lethal, grinding away on him like crazy with a Tokyo Chainsaw Massacre. Lethal blocked a Dragon Suplex and made an ankle pick between his legs and slapped on a figure four leg lock. Kenny struggled in the hold, biting his palm as he resisted submitting. Jay released the hold and went up for Diving Dynamite, hitting Kenny’s weakened leg. Figure four again and another diving headbutt to the knee and Omega was in a world of hurt. Jay was successful with a dragon suplex of his own and followed with a Lethal Combination for a near fall. Jay patiently waited as Omega tried to stand. As he made it to his feet, Jay struck with the Lethal Injection and made the cover. Omega kicked out after a long two and Jay was perturbed. Dragging Kenny under the turnbuckles, Lethal executed one of his signature strategies, cracked Omega’s injured leg against the ring post. Kenny was in a bad way as Lethal scaled the turnbuckles and hit Hail to the King. Jay deliberately climbed the buckles again but took too long, giving Kenny the chance to respond. Omega’s hobbled leg prevented him from capitalizing and Jay came down on him with a double ax handle. Lethal stalked his wounded prey, putting him in a Koji Clutch. Omega would not give. As much as this match mirrored their first encounter, Omega would not pull off another last minute come back. Jay struck with the Lethal Injection again. The referee made the three count and Jay defiantly raised his hands to spite the Omega-favoring audience.
ROH WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPreDRagon(c) def. The Young Bucks by submission
The crowd was divided down the middle on who they supported in this match, which was surprisingly the first meeting between these two teams in ROH. Kyle O’Reilly and Nick Jackson started out with some hard hitting back and forth. Kyle went for Armageddon with Nick fighting for the rope break. Fish tagged in and he and Kyle combined for Chasing The Dragon. Matt Jackson had to make the save. As Bobby picked Nick up off the mat he taunted Matt in his corner: “
You’re are a little out of your depth tonight, boys.” Fish tossed Nick out to the floor. He continued the verbal lashing.
“What are you going to do now, my little overachiever?” Nick responded be posting Fish and getting back into the ring and tagging in Matt. The Bucks hit Fish with Early Onset Alzheimer’s and got a two count out of it. Matt and Nick continued to work on Fish but Bobby clocked Nick with Sleeps With The Fishes as he charged him in the corner. Nick looked done but kicked out of the pin attempt. O’Reilly came back in and tried for Armageddon again. Nick wouldn’t give so Kyle softened him up with a brainbuster and some suplexes before applying the arm bar again. Matt tried to make the save but Fish blocked him and Nick had to tap. reDRagon continued to look in superb form as dominant champions. Fish looked into the camera and called out the competition.
“Affluence, Roppongi Vice, I hope you were watching You need to think real hard about whether you want any of this or not. These belts are going nowhere, gentlemen!”ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPAdam Cole(c) def. Mark Briscoe by pin
Mark Briscoe had earned this title shot by winning Survival of the Fittest a few months ago. He had been on a hot streak but hit the wall last week on ROH Television when he was dismantled by Donovan Dijak. This lent to Cole approaching this match with a lot of confidence. So much so that none of the other members of Affluence accompanied him to the ring. The opening minutes of this contest were scrappy as the two jockeyed for an advantage. Cole surprised Briscoe with a small package as they ran the ropes. Mark kicked out but Adam immediately went for the FLorida Key. The pin attempt was unsuccessful but Cole was in the driver’s seat. Mark put up some token resistance but Adam stayed on top of him and used the Florida Key a second time to retain the title.
Adam brushed his hands together to signal a job well done as the disappointed Briscoe went to the back. Cole’s celebration was cut short, however, as Donovan Dijak and Truth Martini came out to the ring. Cole was on guard as Truth spoke into the microphone.
“Hahahah! Well done, Adam Cole. I applaud you on another successful title defense. But I have to inform you that it will be your last.” Cole sneered as Martini continued.
“The time has come for Dijak the Destroyer to take his rightful place on top of the Ring of Honor mountain. Hahahahah!”Unexpectedly, the crowd began chanting “Di-jak! Di-jak!” This began to upset Cole. His partner, Matt Taven, came down the aisle and got Dijak’s attention and started talking smack. Donovan jumped down to the floor and started up the aisle toward Taven. Martini stood on the apron, nodding his approval. Not noticed until seen on a later replay, a towering man whose size rivalled Dijak’s, came out of the crowd and over the barricade. Cole was the first to notice him as he climbed into the ring. His long, black hair and dark eye makeup gave him a fearsome appearance. The menacing figure regarded the ROH World Champion a moment and Adam slid under the bottom rope to get as far away from him as possible. Martini was oblivious as he watched Dijak stalk Taven up the aisle. Martini finally noticed the new arrival as the man joined him on the far apron. Martini tried bashing him with the Book of Truth but the Book was taken from him. A deliberate display was made of the Book being torn in two as Martini looked on, frozen in panic. The man’s hand then shot out and grasped Truth by the throat. Martini struggled in his grasp but could not escape as the man jumped from the apron, driving Truth through the timekeeper’s table with a sit out choke slam. The man stood over the crumbled form of his victim as he lay among the shattered shards of the table. He then stepped back over the barricade and disappeared through the crowd as Dijak returned to the scene, bewildered. Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino did not know what to make of what had just transpired.
“What the hell just happened?!” Corino exclaimed. Kevin said the cameras would follow the situation until time ran out. Medical staff and ring crew attended to Martini as Dijak helplessly paced back and forth. The show went off the air as a stretcher was brought out and Truth was cautiously placed on it, presumably to take him to a nearby medical facility.
