Pariah ,
TTX - Two Fisted have been a bit of a surprise and I am enjoying using them as a team. As to the booking of the Jay Briscoe/Lio Rush non-match: This was primarily a result of the ROH Code of Honor Chart. I roll on the chart for just about every match in this fed. However, I often ignore the results as they are drastic and usually ruin a match. In this case it worked out. It was one of the 'major rival shows up, fight ensues, NO CONTEST' results.
Alright. After a real life takes over delay, we are back up and running. We got a big one here, fellas! Strap yourselves in!
BEST IN THE WORLD 2017

Lowell, MA
The crowd was excited for the show and the popular team of Chicken Burger, Mark Briscoe and Cheeseburger, came out to a good reaction. They waited in the ring for their opponents, who were not advertised. Two big, well-dressed men were introduced as the Pretty Boy Killer - “Limitless” Keith Lee and “Notorious” Shane Taylor. They made an impression with the fans and Briscoe and Burger were wary of this debuting duo.
On commentary, Steve Corino discussed this new team with his broadcast partner, Kevin Kelly.
“Let me tell you, Kevin. I saw these guys backstage earlier and they are big, confident guys. And a little scary, too.”Pretty Boy Killers def. Chicken Burger (Mark Briscoe & Cheeseburger) by pin
The PBK adhered to the Code of Honor but Keith Lee made a point to put a good squeeze on Briscoe who struggled to get his hand free of the smiling big man’s grip. Taylor thumped Mark from behind and he and his partner gave Briscoe a double running splash. Lee smacked Briscoe around a bit before Mark caught him with a Fisherman Buster for a two count. The teams had a good back and forth match with Briscoe racking up a couple of pin attempts against Lee. Cheeseburger held his own but was taken out by D1T1 from Taylor.
Four Corner SurvivalBJ Whitmer w/Kevin Sullivan def. Will Ferrara, Hanson, and Matt Taven Taven started off trying to showboat against Ferrara but the product of the ROH Dojo turned the tables on him, making him look bad for a while. Taven and Hanson both did damage to Ferrara but it was a Fireball from Kevin Sullivan that stole the win for Whitmer. Ferrara received medical attention from the ringside doctor. This was the second time he had been burned in an encounter with Whitmer and Sullivan.
The Addiction def. Two Fisted (Adam Page & Joey Daddiego) by pin
Page and Daddiego, two thirds of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions, have had some recent success as a pair and a win against The Addiction could see them break into the tag team ranks. This was a well-fought contest with both teams putting in the effort. Page and Daddiego isolated Kazarian at first but Christopher Daniels took it to Page once he tagged in. Two Fisted looked good but it was “The Fallen Angel” putting away Daddiego with Angel’s Wings.
Truthless (The Young Bucks & Chris Sabin) def. All Night Express & Lio Rush by pin
Truthless cut the ring in half against Rush, taking turns punishing him. Lio managed to make the hot tag to Kenny King but Matt and Nick Jackson drove him into the mat with an Indytaker. Matt made the cover as his partners blocked Rush and Rhett Titus from making the save. A convincing win for Truthless as they looked to challenge for the six-man titles.
Bobby Cruise was in the ring to announce the participants for the next contest, a grudge match between Jay Briscoe and Silas Young. Cruise then added:
“This match is now a Last ‘Real’ Man Standing match!”Last Real Man Standing MatchJay Briscoe def. Silas YoungThe rivalry between these two had become heated as of late, explaining the last minute stipulation. No pinfall or submission would end this one. Only the ref counting someone out at ten. This was a slaughter as Briscoe gave Young an obscene ten Jay Drillers! Including one on the floor. The crowd even started a ‘JayDriller Ci-ty!!’ chant. Silas got no offense in and was counted out when he could take no more.
Briscoe got on the mic afterward:
“Damn! Silas Young, I gotta give it ta ya. You are one tough sumbitch. But I am THE man in Ring of Honor. And don’t you or anyone else in that locker room forget it!”ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIPJay Lethal(c) def. Raymond Rowe by referee stoppage
Lethal wasted little time going for the Lethal Injection. Rowe dug down deep and kicked out of the pin attempt. This angered Jay, who smashed Rowe’s leg against the ring post then used a chair on Ray’s knee against the post. The ref was quick to call a stoppage when it was clear that Rowe could not stand and reasonably defend himself due to the knee injury. Hanson came out to help his partner to the back as Lethal held his title belt high overhead.
reDRagon def. Roppongi Vice by DQ
The ROH fans welcomed reDRagon back after a successful tour of Japan. They would be facing the team that got hot during their absence, Beretta and Rocky Romero, RPG Vice. Kyle O’Reilly came out strong against Romero who tagged out at the first opportunity. RPG got on a roll against O’Reilly, connecting with Strong Zero, bringing Bobby Fish in for the save. Beretta got away with a low blow against Kyle but got caught the second time and the referee disqualified RPG.
Fish came to the aid of his partner as Rocky scolded Beretta for getting caught. The semi-humorous moment flipped on a dime as BJ Whitmer ran down the aisle and blindsided Fish. Following Whitmer out were Kevin Sullivan and Damien Martinez. As Whitmer put the boots to Fish, Martinez and Sullivan set up a table at ringside and everyone knew what was coming next. Rather than Fish, as some may have expected, it was O’Reilly getting the South of Heaven chokeslam through the table. Punishment left as suddenly as they had arrived. Fish recovered and called for help for Kyle.
“Why?! Why?!” Kevin Kelly demanded.
“This has gone too far. Something has to be done about these maniacs!”Steve Corino showed some discretion and held his tongue, seeing how visibly upset Kelly was.
Veda Scott joined the commentary team and Kevin Kelly got a little salty with her, asking
“Do you have any surprises for Kenny Omega this time, Veda?”“My, my,” Veda made an aside to Corino.
“I’ve never seen Kevin this dramatic before.”“Uhn. You don’t have to room with him on the road,” Steve replied, trying to lighten the mood.
Kevin Kelly was referring to the first encounter between Cole and Omega at Border Wars when Cole’s world championship was not on the line due to a controversial technicality. Omega, having won that match, was now indisputably the number one contender.
ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPAdam Cole(c) def. Kenny Omega by pin
Cole smuggly shook hands with Omega for the Code of Honor and got things off to a fast start. Armdrag, superkick, superkick to the back of the head and Kenny was ripe for a Panama Sunrise. But the flash win wasn’t in the books for Cole as Omega kicked out at two. The champion kept the pressure on and got another two count with a diving crossbody. Kenny reversed his fortunes with an eye rake and went after Cole with a Tokyo Chainsaw Massacre. Adam rolled out of the ring but Omega followed and continued his attack. Back in the ring, a Kotaro Krusher got Kenny a two count. Cole then took a tombstone piledriver but reversed a whip into the buckles and caught Omega with a lariat on the rebound. Cole hit another Panama Sunrise but Omega again kicked out. After a prolonged brawl on the floor, Cole tried to get a submission with a figure four leglock. Omega wouldn’t give up but he was weakened enough to leave him open for a third and final Panama Sunrise.
Veda stood up and clapped.
“Your ROH World Champion, everyone!”Cole’s Affluence partners, Matt Taven and Jay Lethal, came out to celebrate with him and menaced Omega until his Infernal Affairs teammates, RPG Vice, came to his side for a stalemate face off that carried through to the close of the show.
