Really strong episode from the opening match (with Cheeseburger nearly getting the upset) to the six man main event sending Infernal Affairs back to Japan. Awesome stuff with the ROH Update and I am looking forward to “Dark Retribution.”

Pariah - I always get a kick out of you speculating on my story lines. Do you think you have it figured out? Let's see if you and Ian Riccaboni come to the same conclusions. TTX - While Kenny Omega winning the title would have beeen ok with me, I prefer Adam Cole keeps the gold for a while. I got plans... cruefan68 - Omega and RPG Vice are meant to fill the "guests from NJPW " role from the current ROH product. They will show up for the bigger shows and TV when called for. They had a nice little run against Affluence and will be back somewhere down the road. bookerbill - The Dark Retribution segments are going to flesh out the Punishment story without it all playing out in the ring with the usual promos, etc.
RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2017 Season Episode 20 All Night Express def. Pretty Boy Killers by pin Keith Lee and Shane Taylor made an impressive debut at Best In The World and now had their first televised match against one of ROH’s top teams of Kenny King and Rhett Titus. Quicker on his feet, King ran circles around Taylor but showed his strength as well against the much larger man, including getting him up for the Coronation. The pin attempt came up short and King tagged out to Titus. A Muff Driver from Rhett saw the night come to an abrupt end for the PBK, without Lee seeing action. Jay Briscoe def. Bobby Fish by pin The early stages of this match saw Briscoe and Fish exchange counters and blocks to kicks and other maneuvers. Jay was the first to gain the upperhand with a Yakuza Kick and a pin attempt with a Jay Driller. Fish kicked out but immediately took another Jay Driller and Briscoe got the pinfall. The two shook hands afterward and Kevin Kelly mentioned that Fish looked dejected. “Maybe about the loss or was it because his thoughts are on his partner Kyle O’Reilly being taken out by Punishment?”ROH UpdateSpecial Report: PUNISHMENT - Dark Retribution“Ian Riccaboni here with part two in our series focusing on Kevin Sullivan and Punishment and their destructive impact on Ring of Honor. Last time, we speculated that Stokely Hathaway was the first victim of Sullivan and his cohorts. This time around I want to take a look at the first documented attack credited to the group. At 15th Anniversary, Punishment made a stunning debut, hospitalizing Truth Martini. The motivation for this attack became clear as BJ Whitmer implied it was an act of revenge for a past wrong Martini had perpetrated against him. But it became clear right away that Sullivan and his crew were not working ‘for’ Whitmer but rather he reciprocated by subsequently swearing some kind of fealty to Sullivan and has loyally served him since. So we have established, at least in this case, that it was a quid pro quo situation. If we harken back to the fate of Stokely Hathaway, if Sullivan was indeed responsible, then at whose behest did he act? And what did he get in return? The answer has yet to reveal itself but as we continue to probe the events as they have unfold, perhaps the pieces will begin to fall into place.”Ring of Honor presents Aftershock from Concord, NC. ROH World Tag Team Championship - Adam Cole & Matt Taven to defend against The All Night Express Jay Briscoe vs. Lio Rush Chris Sabin vs. Mark Briscoe And more to come. Christopher Daniels def. Lio Rush by pin Bobby Cruise announced that this would be a #1 contender match for the Ring of Honor World Championship and the winner would face Adam Cole for the title in two months at Death Before Dishonor. The most senior member of ROH’s roster faced the youngest for a chance at the biggest prize in the company. Daniels blocked Lio’s opening attempt at a deep arm drag and proceeded to drill his younger opponent into the mat twice with a Death Valley Driver. A cover and a count of three saw “The Fallen Angel” get the flash win. He hopped up and spoke into the camera, his words directed at Adam Cole. “Adam, it’s taken a while but your time of reckoning has arrived!”Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino closed the show discussing the prospect of a Cole/Daniels title match at Death Before Dishonor. “Kevin, correct me if I’m wrong, but Adam Cole has never defeated Christopher Daniels.” “You are correct, Steve. In fact, the two have never met one-on-one in a Ring of Honor ring. I can’t help but think that is going through the champion's mind as we speak.”

Really like how the Punishment angle is taking over center stage... An excellent piece of storytelling and cannot wait until the next chapter...
Nice win for Daniels, but there's no way he's taking the title from ADAM COLE BAY-BAY!!

Christopher Daniels vs. Adam Cole for the championship sounds all kinds of awesome to me. The continuing intrigue surrounding Punishment Martinez and Kevin Sullivan and the attack on Stokely Hathaway s some great storytelling and I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Episode 20 was a fun read. Not sure the fallen angel can take the gold but the build up should be excellent.

Pariah , TTX , cruefan68 , bookerbill - Belated thanks for the comments everyone. Work has kept me busy, so time has been at a premium. Can Christopher Daniels beat Adam Cole? Hmm, I don't know. We shall see. I was in the front row when it happened irl, so if it happens here, I'll at least be able to give an accurate simulation. That is still a ways away, so there will be some build. Meanwhile, Punishment is the front page news. Here is the evening edition...
RING OF HONOR TELEVISION
2017 Season Episode 21 Hanson def. Mike Mondo by DQ Mondo tried taking liberties at the Code of Honor but Hanson was not caught off guard. This led to a fast paced back and forth exchange of counters and moves until Mondo hit a No Fear DDT for a near fall. Mondo put up a good fight but resorted to dirty tactics when his advantage started slipping and was disqualified for his actions on the floor. BJ Whitmer w/Kevin Sullivan def. Kazarian by pin Kevin Sullivan was once again brandishing a handmade sign with the foreboding question: “WHO’S NXT?” “I don’t think Kevin knows how to spell,” quipped Steve Corino to his partner on commentary, Kevin Kelly. As the match got underway, Will Ferrara came out to join the commentary team. Half of his face was bandaged after being burned by a fireball thrown at him by Sullivan at Best In the World. Ferrara was angered, not only by being burned twice now, but also by the fact that no one is standing up to Punishment. Corino suggested to Will that he should just walk away because maybe that’s not the hill he wants to die on. Kazarian was on fire right out of the gate, racking up some quick pin attempts. Sullivan calmly gave BJ instructions from his corner. When Kaz went to the top turnbuckle, Sullivan got on the apron and shook the ropes, causing Kaz to crotch himself. Whitmer capitalized on the actions of his manager and soon put Kaz away with a brutal lariat. Will Ferrara stood up from the commentary table and went to confront Sullivan. Kevin pretended to beg off as Whitmer pounced on Ferrara from behind. They brought Will into the ring and put the boots to him. Coming to Ferrara’s rescue was a man whose partner was a recent victim of Punishment, Bobby Fish. Lighting into Whitmer, Fish was unaware of Damien Martinez coming down to the ring. Whitmer and Martinez beat on Bobby until Ferrara returned to the ring, the bandage hanging from his face, swinging a chair like a wildman. Sullivan beckoned his men to take their leave. Martinez was reluctant and stared down Ferrara and Fish before Sullivan and Whitmer coaxed him to exit with them. ROH UpdateSpecial Report: PUNISHMENT - Dark Retribution“Welcome back to our continuing report on Kevin Sullivan and his Punishment faction. I’m your host, Ian Riccaboni. We’ve already covered the arrival of Punishment in Ring of Honor and examined their first target, Truth Martini. We also speculated that the first person they ‘punished’ may have actually been Stokely Hathaway. Punishment struck next on ROH Television when Damien Martinez used what has become his MO, the South of Heaven chokeslam through a ringside table, to put out Caprice Coleman during a televised match. This action demonstrated the shrouded nature of their agenda. Truth Martini was attacked as a personal vendetta, as BJ WHitmer explained in his own words. Stokely Hathaway may have also been targeted out of vengeance. So what was Coleman guilty of that brought down Sullivan’s wrath? There is no clear motivation, as Caprice had no obvious enemies to speak of in Ring of Honor. So, from the start, we see no pattern evident in who Punishment is going after. Next time we will look at Punishment’s next two victims, Donovan Dijak and ACH. Will this bring things into focus or only serve to muddy the waters further? Stay tuned.” Ring of Honor presents Aftershock from Concord, NC ROH World Tag Team Championship - Adam Cole & Matt Taven to defend against The All Night Express Jay Briscoe vs. Lio Rush Chris Sabin vs. Mark Briscoe Bobby Fish and Will Ferrara team up for retribution against Punishment Young Bucks vs. The Pretty Boy Killers And more. ROH WORLD SIX-MAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPTwo Fisted(c) (Silas Young, Adam Page & Joey Daddiego) def. Truthless (Chris Sabin & The Young Bucks) by DQ In a rematch from their Tag Wars tournament final, Truthless looked to win the titles they felt they were cheated out of by Two Fisted. Sabin started against Young. Silas withstood a barrage of offense from Sabin and the Bucks, kicking out of multiple pin attempts. Young swung things in his favor by battering Nick Jackson on the floor. Daddiego tagged in and worked Nick over. They also ended up on the outside where Nick used a chair and disqualified his team. The fans booed the decision and Two Fisted held the belts overhead as they retreated up the aisle.

Thoroughly enjoying the Dark Retribution updates and cannot wait to see where the next turn in the shadowy path of Sullivan's army takes the audience... It does look like a few members of the ROH roster are starting to band together against this ominous faction (as per the actions of Ferrara and Fish on this episode)... But, is there enough firepower in the locker room to take out Punishment?
Just wanted to make a note of a possible typo in the main event outcome... Truthless show as the winners via DQ, but the match summary says Nick Jackson is the one who got caught brandishing a steel chair outside the ring...
The card for Aftershock is shaping up nicely... Here's hoping Adam Cole (Bay-Bay!) and Matt Taven can retain against ANX...
Awesome stuff!
