Pariah , TTX , cruefan68 - Ha ha! Seems you guys might have swerved yourselves a little bit there regarding the Cole/Daniels title match. But keeping you guessing is part of what makes things interesting. Punishment and Affluence continue to make their presence felt on this next batch of TV tapings. Thanks, as always, for following along!
This week’s episode opened with the Pretty Boy Killers, Keith Lee and Shane Taylor, coming out to the ring. Taylor got in the ring and looked ready for action but Lee hesitated at ringside, seemingly with something on his mind. When Taylor asked him what was wrong, Keith looked at him a moment, then shook his head. “Nah,” Lee said. “You know what? I got better things to do.”
Lee turned around and started back up the aisle. On commentary, Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino were understandably perplexed. Keith paused to interact with a heckling fan. As he was about to get on his way, Punishment appeared and moved in his direction. Lee stood his ground and Damien Martinez came face to face with him and soon they were trading blows. The fight made its way back to the ring and Shane Taylor moved to help his partner but was rushed by BJ Whitmer who neutralized him with the Golden Spike. Lee looked like he was starting to get the advantage on Martinez but Whitmer used the Golden Spike on him as well. With both members of PBK down, Kevin Sullivan started directing traffic, guiding Whitmer to set up a table while Martinez got Lee up onto the ring apron. In all too familiar fashion, Damien hoisted the big man up and put him through the table with his South of Heaven choke slam. A gleeful Whitmer taunted the fans as Martinez stood over the carnage he wrought, eyes rolled back in his head. Sullivan pulled out his “WHO’S NXT?” sign for the camera. Kevin Kelly threw to a break with disgust in his voice.
Back from the break, the dust had settled. Kevin and Steve discussed what had just transpired.
“Kevin, what I don’t understand is - why Keith Lee? I mean, he’s relatively new to Ring of Honor and he’s been at the bottom of the card. I don’t see what Punishment has to gain by attacking him like this.”
“Steve, there’s no telling what a lunatic like Kevin Sullivan has as his end game.”
“And where is Nigel McGuinness in all of this,” Corino added with some contempt. “He should do something about this.”
“Steve, where have you been? Nigel McGuinness is no longer the matchmaker for Ring of Honor. For...a while now.”
“What? When did this happen? That wasn’t in my notes.”
“I keep telling you, you have to show up for the production meetings. The long and short of it is, Nigel was relieved of matchmaker duties as part of Ring of Honor’s settlement with Veda Scott. She specifically named him in the lawsuit.”
“Oh, man. All that time I spent trying to get rid of Nigel and all I had to do was claim he endangered me? Veda Scott is smarter than all of us.”
Chris Sabin def. Will Ferrara by pin
Sabin toyed with the popular underdog Ferrara and drug this match out longer than he had to. Chris used Cradle Shock to finally end this very one-sided bout.
Two Fisted (Adam Page & Joey Daddiego) def. War Machine by DQ
Two Fisted did a good job of isolating Raymond Rowe for a while. Hanson was able to tag in and take it to Daddiego but War Machine struggled. In the end, it was Rowe getting disqualified for using a chair against Daddiego. This was now the second straight DQ win for Two Fisted.
ROH Update
“For those of you who don’t know, my name is Veda Scott. I am a producer here at Ring of Honor Television. I am here to inform you that Ian Riccaboni has been reassigned and will no longer be doing these updates. This includes his heavily edited interview with Kevin Sullivan. Air time on Sinclair Broadcasting is too valuable to be wasted on Mr. Riccaboni’s wild conspiracy theories implicating Ring of Honor’s role in the actions of Mr. Sullivan and his group. We regret if anyone feels they have been misled and we hope you continue to enjoy our show. We know that there are a lot of entertainment choices out there and we appreciate your continued support of Ring of Honor. Thank you for watching.”
Ring of Honor’s next live event is Reloaded, taking place at The Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
Two Fisted will defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships
Also scheduled to appear:
Will Ferrara
“Notorious” Shane Taylor
Damien Martinez
BJ Whitmer
More to be announced in the weeks to come.
ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Jay Lethal(c) def. Dalton Castle by submission
This was a rematch from the heated double disqualification Lethal and Castle fought to at Death Before Dishonor. Castle would not release Jay’s hand during the Code of Honor. He used this to toss Lethal over with a fireman’s carry takedown to get the first advantage in the match. Dalton squeezed the TV Champion with a bearhug and a body scissors to weaken him for a Deadlift German Suplex. Lethal kicked out of the pinning predicament and tried to get a breather but Castle was all over him like an octopus. Another Deadlift German Suplex led to an even closer count. Lethal caught Castle with a surprise lariat out of the corner and almost tapped him out with a Koji Clutch with Dalton making the last second rope break. The fight went back and forth some more and it was Lethal making a successful title defense, getting a submission with a Koji Clutch. After the match, Castle extended his hand after a well fought match, adhering to the Code of Honor. Lethal refused and left to boos from the crowd.
