Hey loyal promoters! I need your help. The Promoter recently announced two tournaments/contests that everyone could participate in..
Sadly the response has been extremely poor..
I know how busy things can be just running one or two feds on top of playing the first rounds of massive tournaments..
But if I don't get more responses soon.. both tournaments may not make it to the second rounds..
I really would like to see these tournaments become something but I really need your help..
Posted below are the rules for the contests and the first round singles brackets. The singles brackets have been posted in a separate thread.
You only have to play the first round brackets announced below.. subsequent rounds will be announced in the future (providing there are subsequent rounds) and you would play those that are announced.
It is important that, when you send your results, to list how the fall happened (i.e by pin, sub, etc.). There is a point scale for these tournaments. Once all results are tallied based on your matches then the competitor with the highest point total (in each match) will advance to the next round.
The deadline for the first round submissions is October 1st, 2008 but that may change depending on response. I will keep you informed accordingly.
One last thing.. it was brought to my attention that Dick Hutton was not listed in the tournaments.. that was a pure oversight on my part.. and I apologize for that.. but please play the tournaments as they are listed.
CONTEST RULES
(1) Everyone who plays gets one entry thrown into the drawing.
(2) Guess the winner. If you pick the winner from the first round (and do not change your guess) you get TWO more entries into the drawing. If your guess is eliminated, or you change your mind after the first round, then you get ONE extra entry instead of two. No changes to guesses after quarterfinal rounds.
(3) All entries stated in #1 & 2 are cumulative.
(4) You can enter both tournaments but may only win one prize.
(5) You must participate in every round for entries to be valid. Please roll the matches instead of picking the winners of each round.
(6) Anyone can play the tournaments but only current Promoter subscribers, at the time of the drawing, can win the top prizes. In the event a non-subscriber’s name is pulled, alternate prizes will be awarded. A new name will be pulled until a current subscriber wins. As long as you have a valid Promoter subscription by the final round of each tourney (deadline TBA) you will be eligible for the top prizes.
(7) Everyone, except myself (need an impartial judge to run things), will be eligible. In the interest of fairness, to those who have never won this type of prize before, all previous “create a character” winners, and game edition writers Tom, Kris and Mark, will be limited to one entry in each tournament. These individuals can only create characters for the tag tournament but may win the alternate prizes for the singles tourney. Rules # 2 & 3 do not apply to these individuals.
(8) All match results, and tournament picks, must be emailed to jkcotg@yahoo.com or “jkcotg” on the Filsinger Games message board. Specify how the match was won. This affects who wins each round.
(9) Exceptions to these rules will be on a “case by case” basis.
I will tabulate all results received, after each deadline, to determine the winners of each round.
Please note all decisions made are final. The Promoter reserves the right to void any entry if cause warrants said action.
Deadlines for each round will be announced online at Filsingergames.com (some deadlines will be announced in the Promoter as well). The finals in Issue #100. Contest winners will be announced in the first online edition of the Promoter in 2009.
Thanks to John Nocero for designing the first round singles matches, Cory Olson for first round tag pairings and Todd Joerchel for help with contest logistics. All three men will receive an extra entry into the drawings for both tournaments in recognition of their hard work. All other contest rules apply to those three individuals.
The winners’ characters will be offered as exclusive free releases for current and future Promoter subscribers. Just one more incentive to get Promoted!!
