Congratulations to the Bravados on claiming the Open the United Gate Championship... They looked simply dominant in that encounter with Team Tremendous and hoping they have a good run with the belts...
Scurll is building incredible heat... Perhaps the greatest 'Villain' in Evolve history... Still curious about his endgame and I think there a plenty of revelations yet to come... It was cool to see the Darewolf saving his former associate, Roddy Strong... Just another twist in the tapestry...
Excellent stuff!

This man says it all and I will add that Timothy Thatcher should be seriously pissed, Will Ospreay continues to struggle and Fred Yehi over Ricochet was huge. Looking forward to what Evolve brings us in 2017.

Pariah - Here is fuel for your speculative fire on the Roderick Strong/Marty Scurll front. cruefan68 - Timothy Thatcher is indeed pissed and he will make that clear at the opening of the next EVOLVE show. Thanks for posting guys! WWN Alerts January 5, 2017 EVOLVE returns in the New Year but recent shakeups lead to plans changing. EVOLVE Champion Roderick Strong will miss action after suffering a shoulder injury during his title defense against Timothy Thatcher. The damage was compounded as Strong was then attacked during the match by “The Villain” Marty Scurll using his infamous Chickenwing. While Strong may be on the bench, that doesn’t mean that Scurll will get off easy as Thatcher wants a piece of him as well after Marty ruined his chance at the EVOLVE title. EVOLVE 76 will feature Scurll and Thatcher and one can’t help but wonder if The Villain’s actions were also intended as a dig at Thatcher for the defeat he handed Scurll at EVOLVE 73. EVOLVE 76 Timothy Thatcher vs. Marty Scurll Ricochet vs. Tracy Williams Also appearing: Drew Galloway, Anthony Nese, Zack Sabre Jr, Caleb Konley, Will Ospreay, Matt Riddle, Drew Gulak, Fred Yehi EVOLVE 77Drew Gulak vs. Ricochet Tracy Williams vs. Anthony Nese Also appearing: Team Tremendous, the Bravado Brothers, Marty Scurll, and more Video: Marty Scurll Has Not Lost Faith “Oh, Roderick. I really wished that it hadn’t gone the way that it did. I had such high hopes for you. But I haven’t given up yet. Another great villain once said: ‘Being a hero is putting what everyone else wants before what you want. And being a villain is putting what you want before everyone else.’ And what you wanted was the EVOLVE Championship. Now you want Val back. Are you willing to put that before everyone else? I have faith in you, Roderick. They say birth is a painful thing that results in something beautiful. Why should rebirth be any different? If pain is what it takes to show you the way, then so be it. Chickenwing!” Video: Roderick Strong Wants Answers“PJ, thanks for having my back, brother. I might’ve been hurt worse than I was.” “Don’t worry, Roddy. I’ll honor all of your commitments while you’re rehabbing your shoulder. But what’s this about Val and this...Villain?” “He abducted her and I don’t know where they are.” “Abducted? Are you sure?” “Yeah, he had video of her bound and gagged.” “Seriously? That’s crazy.” “It’s true… Wait. PJ, where’s Larry?” “We got off the plane together after we got back from Japan. Last time I saw him was in the airport. He said he had to make a phone call. Then we got separated.” “Who’d he call?” “Val, I think…” “We need to talk to Larry.“

Running three feds at the same time (and preparing for my annual Legends tournament) does not leave much time for reading the message board but I would be a fool to miss this fed. That main event from 75 was just about perfection. Just a great display of mixing creativity, storyline and gaming action.

Pariah - I've become quite the Marty Scurl fan since he adopted the Villain persona. He is a lot of fun to write. Now, let's see if he can win some matches and become a legit antagonist. bookerbill - Thanks for finding the time to check this fed out. It can also be hard for me to find time to do my feds and keep up with others as well. 76 Lenny Leonard was in the ring to introduce the show. Very soon, Timothy Thatcher came out and indicated that he wanted the mic and glared at Lenny, cueing him to leave. “Mr. Scurll. You and I have a problem. At the last EVOLVE show, you interfered in my match with Roderick Strong for the EVOLVE title. I don’t care what the issues between the two of you are but when they cost me a championship, then you have to answer to me for it. I’ve already talked to EVOLVE officials and they have granted me a match against you tonight in the main event. Then, once I have dispatched with you Marty Scurll, I will focus my attention back on Roderick Strong and the EVOLVE Championship.”Drew Galloway def. Zack Sabre Jr.Sabre’s executed a smart strategy with hit and run striking rather than try to grapple his bigger opponent right away. This approach worked until Galloway stopped him cold with a neckbreaker on his knee. On the floor, Zack ducked a charge as Drew collided with the ring post, hurting his arm. Zack got near falls with a Sabre Driver and a Rolling Elbow. Galloway, in turn, got a near falls after a pair of Double Arm DDTs. Eventually, Galloway’s assault became too much for Sabre who took a severe pounding. A Double Arm DDT by Drew ended it. They shook hands after the hard fought contest. The Premiere Athlete Brand of Anthony Nese, Caleb Konley, Matt Riddle, and Secretary Su Yung came out to the ring. Tony waited for the jeers to die down before he spoke earnestly about the state of affairs within the PAB. “The Premiere Athlete Brand is at a crossroads. Between my injury and Matt being in a slump…”“Whoa! Wait a minute, bro…”“You have, Matt,” Nese stated matter-of-factly. Riddle threw his hands in the air. “Face it we’ve all had difficulties.”“I’ve been doing fine,“ Caleb pronounced with a shrug. “We’ve gotten off track. If we are to continue, if we are to remain successful, something needs to change. That being said... Su, we’re letting you go.”Dumbstruck, Su Yung exclaimed “How is this my fault?!”“Sorry, bro,” Riddle said with his dopey grin. Su looked at each of them, nostrils flaring, then curtly left the ring and stomped away. Drew Gulak & Fred Yehi w/GSA def. Matt Riddle & Caleb Konley w/Anthony NeseGulak and Yehi were cornered by fellow Gulak Shoot Academy members Tracy Williams and Will Ospreay. Yehi started out against Riddle, putting on an impressive grappling display against the former MMA fighter. Fred hit the Blame Bell on Matt for a two count before tagging in Gulak. A Spine Splitter by Drew set up the University Stretch but Riddle was able to make it to the ropes before too much damage was done. A Gulak Attack followed for a short two count and Matt was reeling. Yehi was back in and he finished off Riddle with an Uzumaki Special. Anthony Nese was not happy with Riddle’s performance or the fact that Konley did not get involved in the match. Gulak ordered Ospreay into the ring for the next match against the leader of the PAB. Will Ospreay w/GSA def. Anthony Nese w/PABOspreay’s opening move was a high risk attempt that backfired. In his corner, Drew Gulak looked like he was going to burst a blood vessel. Nese put Will through the wringer until reversing Nese coming off the ropes with a DDT. Ospreay went for a 630 Senton which did connect for a two count but Gulak still disapproved. A Corkscrew Shooting Star Press also resulted in a near fall and the crowd was getting hyped. Will kept his roll going and defeated Nese with an Essex Destroyer, earning his first singles win in EVOLVE. Ospreay played to the crowd with a perturbed Gulak looking on. Roderick Strong, favoring his arm that was injured by Marty Scurl during the last show, came to the ring with PJ Black. “We want to invite our pal Larry Dallas out here." “Hey guys, what’s happening?” “Where have you been Larry?” “What do you mean?” “What have you been up to since you got back from our tour of China?” asked Black. “I don’t know. Just doin’ what I do.” “Larry, do you know who Marty Scurll is?” Roddy continued. “Party Marty? Yeah, man. Cool dude.” “Larry, where’s Val?” “Yeah where is Val? I thought I saw her here tonight.” “She’s missing,” said PJ, stepping closer. “Ha ha. Missing? Whaddya mean 'missing'?” “Marty Scurll has her,” Roderick replied. “Hey, what people do in their private life is their own business. That’s what I always say.” “PJ tells me you had some interesting things to say about Val when you guys were in China.” “Wait… what?” “Yeah. He said you were tired of her disrespecting you. That you didn’t like her treating you like some kind of joke.” “Now waitaminnit guys…” “You also said she was leach on the business,” PJ added. “What does that make you, Larry?” Roddy pressed. “Guys. I had nothing to do with… whatever you're implying.” “Last chance Larry. The truth.” “I am telling you the truth. I have no idea where Val is or any of that.” “You had your chance Larry,” PJ remarked, grabbing Larry and throwing him to the ground. Roddy put Larry in the Stronghold while PJ tried to get a confession. Larry pled but gave up nothing, passing out from the pain, leaving them wondering if they had the wrong man. Ricochet def. Tracy WiliamsRicochet put his high-octane offense to use right away, dazzling the crowd and befuddling Williams. “Hot Sauce” turned the tide, trapping Ricochet in a cross armbreaker that had him scrambling to reach the ropes. After escaping the hold, Ricochet slammed Tracy into the ring post then used a backslide driver to set up his 630 Senton. The three count followed with Ricochet winning in spectacular fashion. “The Villain” Marty Scurl made a dynamic entrance, leering at the crowd and laughing like a madman. In contrast, Timothy Thatcher stepped through the curtain, stopping to stare daggers at his opponent. Thatcher slowly made his way to the ring, looking all business. GRUDGE MATCHMarty Scurl def. Timothy ThatcherThe wiley Scurl eluded Thatcher’s attempts to take him down. At the same time, Tim turned aside Marty’s attempts at offense. Scurl was the first to take an advantage with a reverse suplex, stunning Thatcher. Scurl posed and yelled “Chickenwing!”, pouncing on his downed opponent. Thatcher worked his way to the ropes for the break. Scurl pulled him back to the center of the ring and reapplied the hold. Thatcher had no way out and had to submit. The ref called for the bell but Scurl would not break the hold. Instead, “The Villain” cranked on Thatcher’s arm, cackling like a loon. Roderick Strong, who Scurl injured in the same way at EVOLVE 75, and PJ Black raced out and chased Scurl from the ring. Marty gleefully mocked the men in the ring telling them that “Val says hello.”

Fortune was smiling on the GSA, even though its leader did not seem all that impressed with the Aerial Assassin... In stark contrast, things were pretty bleak for the PAB... Looks like getting rid of Su Yung accomplished nothing...
Superb ending with Scurll scoring a huge victory over Thatcher before taunting Strong and Black with a few well chosen words... The Villain has emerged as a master of mind games...
Awesome stuff!

Pariah - The fortunes of the GSA and the PAB flip this time out. And The Villain continues to torment the EVOLVE Champion. Read on! 77 Non-TitleMatt Riddle & Caleb Konley def. Bravado BrothersRiddle and Konley of the Premiere Athlete brand were coming off last night’s embarrassing performance against the Gulak Shoot Academy where Matt was out-grappled by Fred Yehi. The Bravados were recently crowned the DGUSA Open the United Gate Champions but the titles were not on the line. Riddle was all over Harlem Bravado like a man possessed going for one submission after another. Lancelot Bravado must have wanted to get him and his brother out of this one in a bad way. As Harlem was trapped in a Heel Hook, Lance took one of the championship belts and deliberately bashed Riddle in the head with it, getting the disqualification. The Bravados beat a hasty retreat as an angry Riddle held his head and got on Konley’s case, asking why he let that happen. Anthony Nese def. Tracy WilliamsNese of the PAB also had a poor showing at EVOLVE 76 against a member of the GSA, giving Will Ospreay his first win in EVOLVE. Tonight he faced Williams, a former EVOLVE Champion. Tony used his rare combination of power and agility to get off to a good start but almost got caught with a roll up after Tracy evaded a charge in the corner. Williams attempted to capitalize after that with a Piledriver but it didn’t take enough out of Nese to get the pin. Tony came back with a power game, slamming Williams hard into the mat multiple times. With Tracy down, Nese hit a beautiful 450 Splash for the win. Ricochet def. Drew GallowayFor most of the match, Galloway treated Ricochet like enhancement talent. The smaller man was battered all around the ring, looking out of his depth. The momentum turned on a dime when Ricochet bounced Drew’s head off the barricade and put together an aerial attack culminating in shooting star press for the three count. Team Tremendous def. Drew Gulak & Will OspreayGulak has been teaming with each of the other members of the Gulak Shoot Academy, possibly looking for the right combination to go after tag team gold. Tonight he teamed with Ospreay, whom he’s had a strained relationship with over philosophy of ring style. After Detectives Dan Barry and Bill Carr came to the ring, Gulak got on the mic. “It’s not often I come out here and try to explain the philosophy of the GSA. But this time I can’t help but use these two gentlemen here as an example. They would rather play cops and robbers than shoot. That’s probably why they couldn’t make even one successful defense of the tag team titles.”Team Tremendous looked upset by Drew’s hurtful words and the fans showed them their support. Gulak’s criticism fired them up as they rolled over Drew like a steamroller with their high impact teamwork. They combined for Book ‘Em Danno for the decisive pin. The crowd loved it and Gulak verbally tore into Ospreay who seemed a little amused by the situation. A profusely sweating Trevin Adams got into the ring and explained that Timothy Thatcher had been scheduled to appear tonight but was injured at the hands of “The Villain” Marty Scurl at the conclusion of last night’s show. He then stated that Zack Sabre Jr. had agreed to fill in for his injured friend tonight in what was to be a number one contender’s match but would now only be for standing in the top ten. Zack Sabre Jr. def. Fred YehiYehi lit up Sabre with some chops but Fred missed a charge in the corner and went crashing to the floor. Sabre flew through the ropes with a suicide dive that saw both men go over the barricade and into the laps of the fans in the front row. Sabre recovered quickly and reentered the ring but Fred had trouble beating the ref’s count. Zack locked up with Yehi once he regained the ring and with lightning quickness, put Yehi in a Cross Armbreaker, ending Fred’s win streak and likely knocking him out of title contention. “The Villain” Marty Scurl made his entrance for the main event with his usual pomp. As his opponent was about to be introduced, he hopped out of the ring and hid himself behind some staging. PJ Black came out, followed by EVOLVE Champion Roderick Strong. Scurl crept up behind Strong, grabbed him and flung him shoulder-first into the ring post, aggravating the arm that was already injured at his hands. PJ jumped to assist Roddy as Marty retreated to the ring, laughing. EVOLVE officials took Roddy to the back as PJ looked to get revenge on Scurl. PJ Black def. Marty ScurlScurl frustrated Black in the early going but PJ soon had the upper hand. With his opponent reeling, PJ went to the top rope but Marty shook the ropes bringing him toppling to the mat. A maniacal look came over Marty’s face as he yelled “Chickenwing!” over his downed opponent. Black was able to get to the ropes but Scurl kept the hold locked on, only releasing it after the ref’s repeated efforts to break it up. Scurl punished Black some more in and out of the ring, including applying the Crossface Chickenwing while on the floor. PJ was able to bounce back and get a near fall with a 450 Splash. Black continued his assault, catching Scurl in the side of the head with a jumping spin kick that caused him to crumble to the mat. PJ made the cover and got the three count, scoring the come-from-behind win. As Scurl stumble away, PJ noticed the EVOLVE belt that had been dropped by Strong after he was attacked. He picked it up and regarded it a moment before slinging it over his shoulder and heading to the back. EVOLVE TOP 10Champion - Roderick Strong - Ricochet
- Drew Galloway
- Zack Sabre Jr.
- PJ Black
- Marty Scurl
- Will Ospreay
- Anthony Nese
- Timothy Thatcher
- Fred Yehi
- Tracy Williams

The Villain continues to tell a compelling story, but it's not translating to a lot of success in the ring... Impressive comeback by the Darewolf... What was that lingering look at the title belt all about? Makes me wonder...
Some interesting friction between Riddle and Konley after the opening match... Maybe just a case of the PAB members being too work through their recent frustrations... And great victory by Nese to help keep his group on the rails...
Also enjoyed the win by Team Tremendous... Especially sweet after Gulak's arrogant rant...
Very entertaining!

I really enjoyed both Evolve 76 and 77 and much like your ROH and CZW feds you do a great job of capturing the feel of the promotion. I normally don't agree with torture but I didn't mind seeing Roderick Strong and PJ Black rough up Larry Dallas in looking for info on the whereabouts of SoCal Val. Marty Scurll has indeed lived up to his "Villain" nickname during all of this and I like the added intrigue of Black coveting the title held by Strong. Great stuff.
