I am now home from watching QPro tonight in Las Vegas. It was great seeing QPro here (it was even on the street- Sahara- I live on) instead of in California.
Serena Deeb didn't make it due to an injury and Jillian Hall was not there due to travel issues, but Heidi Lovelace was one of the replacements in the tournament.
Tonight's results:
Christina Von Eerie defeated Kahmora (I'm also a big Kahmora fan, but not surprised to see CVE win this match.) Tonight was the first time I have ever seen CVE wrestle in long hair without her mohawk.
Heidi Lovelace defeated Ivelisse with a handful of tights. At one point during this match, Lovelace sat on my front row seat.
Candice LeRae defeated Laura James
Veda Scott defeated Hudson Envy
Veda was great. I like her character alot. For example, before the match started, a fan yelled "Hudson is going to kill you" and Veda responds by holding up her finger and saying "No, it is statistically unlikely anybody will die in this ring tonight." after Veda won the match, she grabbed the microphone and said "By my calculations, I'll be taking on Candice LeRae in the next round." She then looks at me and says "You in the BOLA shirt." (I wore this year's BOLA shirt that I bought at PWG two weekends ago) "Did you have fun at BOLA?" I nodded yes. Veda then asked me "Did you like Candice's performance at BOLA?" I said yes again. Veda then asked me "Do you think Candice is going to defeat me?" I said yes because she defeated Rich Swann. Veda then asked me "You think she is tougher than me, don't you?" I said yes to that too (I was just being honest) and then Veda went on to start asking similar questions (but not about BOLA) to another fan.
In the non-tournament tag match, Los Luchas defeated the RockNES Monsters by DQ in what may not have been the planned ending. During the match, Johnny Yuma was having issues with the referee who was FSW wrestler Greg Romero. Yuma then leaped at and shoved Romero who did not immediately call for the bell. Yuma and Romero then start arguing with each other face to face and then Johnny Goodtime got in the ring and started talking to Romero too and only at that point did Romero call for the bell. It was a good match and it seemed odd to end it on a DQ and I could hear from my front row seat some of which the RockNES Monsters and Romero were saying to each other and it really did not seem like an act. And then during Intermission, backstage from behind the glass (the show took place in a hockey rink) Yuma and Romero started fighting and had to be separated. The son of the owner of FSW sat near me and said he thinks it was legit and that is why Romero has not been used lately by FSW.
after Intermission, Christina Von Eerie defeated Heidi Lovelace to advance into the finals.
Candice LeRae vs Veda Scott ended in a double countout in which they fought all around the rink and led to Candice throwing Veda into the net. As a result, it was announced that Christina Von Eerie was the default winner of the tournament and would receive the trophy after the next match.
Kyle O'Reilly defeated QPro Champion Adam Thornstowe to earn a future title shot. It was great seeing Kyle O'Reilly wrestle here in Las Vegas tonight.
Christina Von Eerie entered the ring to accept her trophy for winning tonight's tournament when suddenly Joey Ryan's entrance music played. Joey Ryan and his lawyer (Joey's lawyer was Kyle O'Reilly's brother) demanded equality and to allow him to enter the women's tournament and challenged CVE to accept him as her finals opponent since both Candice LeRae and Veda Scott got eliminated by double countout in the semi-finals. Von Eerie accepted Ryan's offer.
Joey Ryan was awesome tonight in Las Vegas. Before the match started, a female fan in the front row started yelling at Ryan and he responded by saying "Lady, your mouth is good for one thing and talking isn't it."
In the tournament finals, Christina Von Eerie defeated Joey Ryan. It is always great to see Joey Ryan wrestle women, at one point Joey Ryan gave CVE a boobplex while yelling out "equality." But this match was less raunchy than some of Joey Ryan's past PWG matches against CVE and Candice LeRae.
After the show, I got to meet both Veda Scott and Heidi Lovelace and they signed my copies of their cards. I think (and hope) Veda might be used again in the future for QPro.
The show unfortunately was not too well attended tonight which has me worried QPro might be returning to California for their future shows (but if so hopefully the same weekend as PWG which is usually the case since that is when my friend Alan who runs QPro usually drives from Las Vegas to California to see PWG and plus the wrestlers from PWG are in California at that time too.) To me it seems QPro could reasonably be highly successful in Las Vegas since FSW often has great turnouts at their casino shows yet QPro is the superior show overall in terms of quality and talent used.
